  1. What’s not to like about the Lake District. Cleared up later :)
  2. 2 points
Couldn't see a thread of pictures, apologies if I've overlooked it. Here's our Enyaq that we collected today.
  3. I said I wouldn't spend any more money on the car but it seems I can't help myself. Occasionally the windows steam up at this time of year, usually when I've picked the kids up and they've been running around at one of their clubs. It can make it difficult to see when reversing onto the drive in the dark, especially seeing as the rear windows have such a heavy tint. I decided to get some wind deflectors to allow some air in whilst keeping the rain out to help with the issue. I went for the Team Heko variant as I've had them before on other cars and they were a good fit. The rears went in just fine but the fronts were a bit of a pain to wrestle into place. I managed to not snap them (as I have in the past) and they fitted quite well. Fingers crossed they'll help with the steaming up issue and are a worthwhile investment.
  4. Easy money. Especially if they think they can just keep billing you for potentially pointless repairs.
  5. I have a 1998 Skoda felicia 1.3 MPI from new and still runs very well with nearly 1,000 miles on clock. If I should wish to buy a Fabia second hand (I am 77) so I am on a very limited budget not looking for speed just easy to service and cheap to run. I only do some 3,000 miles a year. I have listed my requirements 1 Petrol engine must run on E10 2 Maybe power steering 3 sun roof if poss 4 colour red or dark red 5 windup windows. If poss. What year and what model your thoughts Thanks.
  6. Two days ago I took the car out of the diler. Unfortunately, the car stood for half a year in the Czech Republic as incomplete. I orderded it in february this year. I first gave up on that car when I was informed that it was manufactured incomplete and ordered the same configuration again at the same price and got free more heated windshields. However, production problems in Skoda Auto are known and the new configuration has not even been confirmed yet. In the end I decide to take this car which is alredy here. The impressions are phenomenal after the old octavia rs 2018 TDI, that I had before this one.

I would suggest that the OP checks that his battery light comes on with the ignition (engine not started) too. If it doesn't it's a sign of the famous broken alternator wires.
  8. 1 point
Thank you. It kept having issues so one of the earth straps is on the strut mount, and one from my late father's long gone D-reg Nova was chucked from the battery to the one down there so it shouldn't have as many problems again.
  9. 1 point
I wish! Turned it ever so slightly and CRACK, came clean off. It was always a tight fit so it was doomed from the start. It's now connected to another earth point down by the PAS fluid tank.

Too strong for your own good 😁

^ Yes, definitely worth checking the earth lead to strut tower.
  12. 1 point
Yep. Mine used to mess with the PAS and the ABS, eventually stopping the use of both when the battery was dying or the earth going between the battery and body was not making good contact.
  13. It's like a few weeks ago when those of us who work couldn't buy any fuel to get to work because those who no longer work had bought it all and stashed it on their driveways in vehicles they barely use. Go figure.

Hi and welcome to Briskoda, Rob!
  15. You might want to ask them about memory tests too, just in case. My wife told me we get an extra 300 points (of what and with who I don't know) if we call in there tomorrow but thinking about it now I don't need to as tomorrow is the last day and I don't need a full tank as my wife will be back in her Fabia.
  16. Surprisingly busy for almost mid November!
  17. Fantastic snaps, Colin. Haven't been to the Lake District since 2008. Used to spend a lot of time with my family down in a lodge thing beside Lake Windermere.
  18. Good, I'll keep the medics on standby for my heart then...
  19. I forgot to check that petrol price tonight I'll try and remember tomorrow.
  20. Analogue Group ride today... Must remember to press resume after Coffee stop 🙄 Total was 13 ish miles... Long'ish way back to test lights for night rides.. Next one will be with helmet lamp as well
  21. I seem to recall a post somewhere, (my memory fails me) where it was suggested the two prongs on the sensor inside the header tank get a coating on them and need cleaning. Might be worth a try?
  22. The Sportline Enyaq only comes in the 82 kWh 150 kW option
  23. Likewise. I couldn't stomach paying twenty five quid or whatever it was for a replacement light unit from Superskoda though, so I got a new pcb with three LEDs on it from these people. Seven quid or so plus a few coppers for postage was much more bearable, and it's way brighter than the glow worm in a box that came with the car. The other thing was that I didn't really need something quite as bright as the Superskoda one looks to be since I'm not expecting to stage a floodlit county cricket match in the boot. Here's a comparison:
  24. The original tip was rounded , I just ground it down to a point. There is photo of the size now about the size of a ball point pen tip
  25. 99.9% of that would dissapear with flatting, compounding and polishing leaving just a tiny touch up job to do, once dried & hardened that could be made almost invisible by the same process but in minutes not hours.
  26. Another example of well meaning but totally out of date (as in at least 30 years) advice. Completely incorrect as well although understandable when dragging back memories from that far back, when valve clearances closed up which in the main was in a narrow period of a few years around 1987 with the removal of leaded petrol, compression loss and valve seat burning occurred on a hot engine and not when cold where a clearance would be present, the temperature coefficient of linear expansion of the valve train components closing up the reduced clearance, much worse on pushrod engines than OHC ones. I was not referring to your advice Wino, I'm sure you realise that but someone else reading may not. To the OP it is inconcievable that 4 glowplugs would have all failed in such a short time, it's a safe bet that the ones that were replaced (if they were actually replaced) were not faulty or not the cause of your problem.

DSG,s can be 7 speed twin dry clutch so a DQ200 as used on FWD cars with no more than 250 Nm. So basically 1.0, 1.2, 1 4, 1.5 or 1.8 TSI,s or 1.2, 1.4 or 1.6 diesels. Not on AWD,s or 2.0 TSI or TDI,s. Wet clutch 6 or 7 speed are fitted to those. ? What engine does your car have? Dry clutch have no service schedule or guidelines for oil change. Wet clutch DSG do require oil changes.
  28. Aye, one like that down my way. My best friend gets her car serviced and any work carried out at this guy's garage no bother and we didn't have any problems until my Mum's ailing Toyota came onto the scene and he estimated her £1,500 to get the ECU replaced on the car. Went to another local independent in a village over and he fixed it no bother for a lot less and has carried out all the work (that I haven't done) on my Fabia too.
  29. I've got fat stubby fingers but as long as you can hold a pair of tweezers in one hand and a soldering iron with a really small tip in the other and have a magnifying lamp on an adjustable stand you'll manage . Just follow the instructions above.
  30. Aye, that was my first thought, but if that's the game then he must think my head zips up the back. Funny thing is that we've used him before no probs and lots of our friend use him and give glowing reports. So not sure what to think right now.
  31. With regards to DAB it is a seperate USB DAB dongle you need. I bought a cheap one from ebay that said it was compatible with Android and it worked no problems. As for the antenna they come with one of thos crappy windscreen mounts but it didn't work at all for me. I also have GPS reception problems as I believe I have the special heat refelctive screen. I'm not sure how it is on the MK3 but on the MK2 estate there is an antenna built into the rear side window. You can swap out the amplifier tha sits back there for a passive one and then a splitter behind the stereo that spilts out the DAB and FM signals. With this solution there's no need to swap the roof antenna and I've just come back from holiday via Belgium, Holland, France and the UK and the signal (after doing a new scan in each country of course) was rock solid. Only exprienced a couple of short dropouts on the hilly roads between Bridlington and Whitby.
  32. I believe your engine has no such clearances, you have hydraulic 'equalising elements', item 8 here: camshaft, valves - Fabia(FAB) [EUROPA 2012 year] (7zap.com)
  33. I know that there were map lights added to Korban's Fabia Mk1, so hopefully you could pull something from this...
  34. I've read up on the different file formats and would have to agree that FLAC would be the best, in theory, but surely the most important thing is how each format sounds when played through whatever device you are using at the time. In this case, I was looking for the best format for the Infotainment system fitted as standard in my Kamiq SEL. All the formats I tried sound the same. Is it my ears and all the other bits which my head uses to listen to sounds or is it the infotainment system? I've put it down to the car's sound system. I've got Sonos Radio HD on a month's free trial and the difference between that and the non-HD Sonos Radio is clear. Given that it costs £7.99 a month for the privilege of continuing to use it after the free trial, I have decided not, but that's another topic.
  35. Will be covered under warranty for the parts as these plugs have a 12 month warranty, they can however charge you again for labour but most decent garages will carry out the work free of charge to keep customers happy, a good idea would have been to take photos of the original glow plugs in situ before taking the car in and then after job was done to check they had been changed before leaving garage as it has been known to be charged and parts not replaced Just a note for you a friend had a starting problem from cold, all parts replaced filters glow plugs relays etc after many garage bills had a look at the car for him and out of a problem i had a few years ago i checked the valve clearance.... no gaps at all, it happens like this sometimes as the valves wear into the head and close the shim gap up not giving the engine full compression when starting from cold, did a total re-shim and brought gaps back to specs and car started from cold every time
  36. When I use it in my car for parallel parking I; See the space I'm going to go Press the button and select the parallel park option Put my left indicator on Drive slowly past both what will be the rear, then the front car When the MF screen shows a car symbol with an arrow going into the space, I stop and go into reverse I use only the clutch for speed and allow the car to steer itself I switch between reverse and 1st when the car says to I use it when I go the beach by one of my mates house because the roads around there have quite high kerbs. I always find it to park the car very well. That isn't to say I couldn't do it myself (6 months practice parking a tranny van in and around London) but the car's got sensors and can calculate it's aim into the space quicker than I can
  37. ^^^ Good stuff. Hopefully the parking attendants are made aware that if a Charger stops working and a car is in the charging bay and the driver is trying to get a charger working or one cuts out then they do not issue a penalty ticket as has happened at other locations including in Edinburgh & Perth. It is unbelievable what Car Park Staff will do at times.

depends how much you use!!! ;-)) Also, I used gutter sealant in the track to try to ensure the wheel arch trim did not come loose, I also removed the other side and gave the same treatment, that was about 2 yrs ago still rock solid!!
  39. Dig out the invoice and remind them, I just bet it'll turn out to be something else!

IPA = India Pale Ale, never knew it had deep cleaning properties!
  41. That looks very smart in Red. Very, very nice!
  42. The car is 2013 mk 2 the lights I'm talking about are the ones that go out when any of the lights are selected, also turned off with the switch in the fuse box . I remember years ago on bikes you had to put a resistor in the wiring to stop em flashing fast. I just wondered if they now make bulbs which have it all built in. Cheers

Yes - for the older 0156 system software you get the greyed out icon even without the wireless charging hardware being fitted to your car. If you can get you car updated to later core software (something that took most of a day for me) then it isn't there any more (unless you do have the option fitted).
  44. And some more pictures😀
  45. This bad boy was lurking on my window at work all day today😬
  46. Thank you for the review, and the cargo space looks brilliant. I’m switching from a Superb (hatch) to an Enyaq 80, and based on your experiences it sounds like it will work just fine as the main car for our family of four.
