  1. Here is our New L&K 200TDi which we've had for a few weeks now. Really does feel better in many way then our old Kodiaq, especially with the engine v's our old 190TDi. This is with us for now until the correct spec arrives. We ordered a Beige interior but it arrived Black, dealer has been brilliant to be fair, and nice to know we get another new car in 5-6 months.

Looks like my Kamiq was on that train after all. I've got call from my dealer yesterday that I can pick up car on Monday. 😃 Six and a half months waiting time, like famous quote from Chernobyl series: "Not great, not terrible". Now I just have to get rid of my old piece of junk. I mean: to sell my old Opel Astra. 🙂 And I also really wish you all to get your cars soon. 🙂

I'm bored of seeing threads with that blue Skoda 2021 price list because it means nothing, it's a menu for out of warranty customers to get them in the door, nothing else. I think it was originally perfected by Mini and is now aped by others. OP is in a kicker of a situation - unfortunately I think they will struggle with a goodwill repair - the good (?) news is that a replacement engine should be relatively easy to source. I'm not familiar with these engines. Do they just bend valves or is there likely be any other damage?
  4. Well, after a 7 month wait, I picked up my Sportline facelift today. All options present, including Canton, and the electric child locks with the family pack.

I picked up my car today from the dealer. It's been 11 months now since ordering. Car: octavia ambition 2.0 tdi dsg options: led matrix, canton, ergo seats and some minor things. Ordered in 2021 March.
  6. Lesjofors or Kilen, both from the same factory in Sweden. Fitted many a set and they have all been fit and forget.
  7. If you're getting errors after two days, I'd take it back to the dealership that sold it and have them take a look...

Ordered my Superb L&K on 2nd June. Just had a phone call today to say the car is in the UK and I can choose to have it soon or wait for a 22 plate in March. I'll wait the extra month!

If it's pothole hell, I would seriously reconsider 19" wheels and the skinny tyres they require on the Octy. They're a nightmare. I will one day downsize mine to 18" or even 17".
  12. Doing the work yourself is much more rewarding. I look forward to the next instalment.

In this case its irrelevant what the cambelt interval is or is not. Man buys 3 yr old car, ex lease, so I presume sold by a dealer/garage with full service history. Warranty has in law to be a minimum of 6 months, I would imagine 12 months is likely on a newish car. Its engine gets trashed 6 months later and 3500 miles. Exact sequence of events yet to be established. Surely this is simply a used car warranty issue. If the seller refuses to resolve it, the owner has rights under the Consumer rights act. Granted it may involve building a case now that 6 months have passed. If it had a fairly normal 12 month warranty, or maybe if was an approved used Skoda they have 24 months then there should be no argument. The owner is not a Skoda technician woth detailed knowledge of cambelts, maintenance or whatever. The onus was on the seller to advise that the cambelt was overdue and he had to change the cambelt immediately. And the description full service history is incorrect, or creative. It is not helpful constantly posting a price list and calling it a mandatory service schedule. It is not. It is simply a marketing flyer. I fear the aggressive tone of the ill considered replies from more than one member) has understandably made the OP think "f it with this forum". No one answered his query, which was what was the experience of others that had suffered the same issue (broken cambelt) We'd be lucky to hear from him again I think.
  14. Having done a few over the years on my 3 Fabias, I would also recommend at least buying the top bearings {as opposed to the top mounts) which you may find fall apart when the springs are removed from strut - this stops the replacement process. Top mount on left, actual bearing on right - a top mount will not necessarily come with a bearing. Also ensure you fit the spring the correct way up. I used a ring spanner on the strut top nut and found that it is easier to slacken off when strut on car, car on wheels - just undoing a 1/4 turn.
  15. A Monte Carlo 1.5 Estate would have been perfect for me. Disappointing that the estate has been dropped.
  16. Does your Fabia MK1 1.4TDI 70HP have air conditioning? The air conditioning adds a little front end weight, so some brands recommend slightly longer (uncompressed length) and/or stiffer front springs. Can you see the coloured dots/marks on one or both of the front springs, as that will identify the OEM part number of your current front springs? As you can see in the chart below, 1 red dot and 2 yellow dots is 6Q0411105AH. 1 red dot and 3 yellow dots is 6Q0411105AJ. 1 red dot and 4 yellow dots is 6Q0411105AK. (1) 6Q0 411 105 AH coil spring 1 paint mark 2 paint marks red yellow 2 PR-G01/L06 PR-G02/L06 (1) 6Q0 411 105 AJ coil spring 1 paint mark 3 paint marks red yellow 2 PR-G01/L07 PR-G02/L07 (1) 6Q0 411 105 AK coil spring 1 paint mark 4 colour strokes red yellow 2 PR-G01/L08 PR-G02/L08 https://skoda.7zap.com/en/cz/fabia/fab/2005-453/4/411-411000/ I would probably go with the KYB RH2727. They are available on ebay for under £15 each if buying two and using the 20% off code. You can think of Kilen as like Nokia, ie. made in Sweden, and KYB as like Samsung, ie. made in South Korea. One benefit of KYB, is that they usually give the specifications of their springs such as length, wire thickness, weight, etc. whereas Kilen don't. Another benefit is that KYB are often cheaper on ebay than Kilen. autodoc https://www.autodoc.co.uk/car-parts/coil-springs-10213/skoda/fabia/fabia-6y2/19225-1-4-tdi?supplier[0]=85&supplier[1]=246&criteria[100][2]=VA Kilen 23108 6Q0411105AK https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/323693514945?hash=item4b5da310c1:g:1AIAAOSw~jpcZE2b KYB RH2727 6Q0411105AJ 6Q0411105AK https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/334295841506?hash=item4dd595bae2%3Ag%3AwREAAOSwnpFh5qWj&LH_ItemCondition=3

Yep, I've noticed in my 12 years on here, some do like to see fellow members in predicaments and put the boot in given half a chance............
  21. Bloody cheek! I’m 32! 😂 Nah… I’ve got tins of beans that are probably older than you! Oh BTW, the Capri MK1 was launched 4 years before the Allegro!
  22. I currently have number 10. It has only 16,850 miles on it too!

Collected my vRS today, will share photos tommorow. Ordered beginning of October with camera, virtual pedal, canton, side assist, acc and other bits and pieces, petrol, hatchback. When chatting with the dealer, he said due to the fire, octavia orders are now approximately 1.5 years out….
  24. Why not opt for a Scala then? Looking at the price of the Fabia Hatch, the Scala looks like it’s around the price a Fabia Estate would have been?

Unfortunately for you, a recommendation to change the cambelt at 5 years or 145,000 miles is not a guarantee that it will last that long. I agree that it is reasonable to expect that it will, & many people will have exceeded those figures, but as in your case, there are also cases where, for whatever reason, a failure occurs before reaching those recommendations.

My build week is confirmed as w/c 7th - next week. Checked today with lease broker and dealer
  27. Fantastic advice , thanks. the door card has been on & off so many times I can do it in my sleep!
  28. Thank you so much for the updates. It's great to see progress at sites I want to use. When I get to use it, I probably won't be as bitter about them.
  29. But you're (purposefully?) missing the point that they are dual use. Therefore, they will be classed as either a fog lamp or cornering lamp depending how it is being used at that point in time. If someone is sitting waiting to reverse into a drive, although it's the same light source/fixture as the fog lamp, for that manoeuvre it's technically a cornering lamp so completely fine in the eyes of the Police and highway code. Although the highway code doesn't mention cornering lamps, that doesn't mean they can't be used. It might look, swim and quack like a fog lamp, but rightly or wrongly, it's a cornering lamp when used as such... I'm not trying to persuade you they are a good idea, suitable for use or even to like them, only that given the current (mess?) of regulations, they are perfectly legal to use on UK roads. If they weren't, then I would expect to see people getting prosecuted for their use and then taking action against the manufactures. It's like the situation around dual use sidelight/DRL lamps. Plenty of MK2 FL vRS owners had MOT issues as both functions were combined into the LED strip despite them working correctly. It is either a DRL or sidelight depending how it's being used, it's more obvious as the brightness changed but a similar issue where one lamp performs multiple functions and causes confusion 👍 Agreed, nor do I expect them to any time soon.
  30. Noticed there are a few VRS’s appearing pre registered at dealers across the country. Basic VRS’s with out the options but saves the waiting times. Check them out on Autotrader
  31. Thanks I’ll try it. Thanks , the amount of bellendery I’ve seen on this car anything is possible 😂😂

It is not @ 4 years. It is 40,000 miles. That Guide from Skoda is totally misleading as is so much more that you get from Skoda.
  33. @JR RS Woah, thanks man. That's exactly what I want... Except I have a vagon not a sedan. I like the new light design but I'm not spending 1500€ for new tail lights. Where did you get the strip? (please tell me it's a basic strip i can find online somewhere) The old post shows the strip is also on the bottom oh the boot and the lights. Honestly your modifications look like stock. Kudos.

Sorry for slight change of topic but your posting @roottoot has got me a little worried. Can I respectfully ask if wet DSG oil change has become (or always has been) time-limited at 4 years? I’ve only ever read 40k miles being written and not time related. I declined the offer of this at my 4 year service (a few months ago) as was still some way off 40k miles, and the service booker agreed it was 40k miles for my car.
  35. @candasm I haven't checked with Skoda service. Talk with a mechanic that I know personally and he said this can be fixed with some adhesive and polished but during summer when everything is dry. Nothing to worry about the crack since underneath is the draining spaces. Its been a while and I haven't seen any leaking issues. All in all is just a "cosmetic" problem.
  36. Ask Skoda customer services for a copy of the car's "Certificate of Conformity". They're unique to the car and will list all the wheel and tyre combinations that were homologated for your car. (Bottom left on the image below, for our car).
  37. Yes, you simply need to reset the windows, when this happened to mine I activated the full open function, then full closure using the key in the drivers door lock, once you've done that the sense should be restored.

@J.R. Your humility is impressive. My comment was aimed at a wider audience actually. Hopefully @Easytiger333 will get back and answer my questions. He's only had the car 6 months and 3500 miles, we need to explore warranty and seller responsibilities first before making any case against Skoda UK.

I can hear some sad music and violins 🤣 and it’s not canton sound system 😆
  40. Hi Before you get too carried away, it's always possible that this fault code is spurious and is also a result of a low/flat battery. I would be inclined to clear it, then check back from time to time to see if it reappears.
  41. For @candasmand @Andrei_Spataruthe dealer stated they weren’t aware of any similar cases and needed to inspect the car on a ramp (probably to check if I had hit a pothole or something which had caused the split in the roof) No visible cause or reason was found other than it just split. So it was repaired at an approved bodyshop under warranty because the car was under 2 years old. Check out US VW Golf Mk7 website and there are a lot of pictures of similar cracks on Golf GTI on each side of the front edge. The crack shouldn’t leak into the car as the water should drain into the channels eventually, provided the drains are clear. It looks worse than it is. The affected area is a plastic cover. The glass sunroof itself was not damaged and closed/opened without a problem but it looks bad. You could try sealant but I think it’s a stress crack which will open up again. I think it’s about £1000. It’s not an uncommon fault despite what dealers may say. Good luck sorting it out as Skoda in the UK at least, don’t always pay up with cars out of warranty even for a well-known problem.
  42. Sounds about right. The staff at my local dealership are an absolute bunch of morons! They have absolutely no idea what they're doing, not the sales team and definitely not the service team!

Appalling. Don’t give up, keep pushing them for goodwill. Has it always been main dealer serviced? What dealer are you using? If they’re not playing ball, call them out and SUK on Twitter, FB, LinkedIn. And write to your MP.

Hi all, I've just had a missed call from my dealership ( Doncaster U.K) which I've order my vrs from back in October 2021 and when i phoned back she said they have just been given a build date for my car week1 2023! She said don't think that it will be that long and just to keep waiting.

I picked up my car yesterday.. For now everything is working OK, except I cannot set up Wireless Android Auto.
  46. The extended servicing is for long distance cruising when engine is warm, no labouring up hills, or mainly short journeys. You have to remember the system of extended intervals is pampering to fleet users that dispose of a car after certain mileage, and don’t care who picks up subsequent repair bill. Manufacturers also have a vested interest in not making a car that can easily go on for 200,000 miles or 20 years without major failure or worn out engines as it would be harder to sell a replacement. My view is if it is a lease car, or one that will be handed back on PCP, then service at max intervals when car says it needs it, but if you intend to keep it a few years then give it a bit more care and get oil changed more regularly. It’s a bad trade off to save bit on service, but then be broken down on a dark wet night with car needing something like a new turbo. As for the comparison with BMW, Mercedes etc, as a nosey person I often look what brand is stopped on hard shoulder or on back of tow truck on motorway, and these brands seem to make up fair share.
  47. Totally agree if they promise to do wonders but the good ones do not do that. As you know additives are already added to the base products such as fuel, oils and coolants but some have better additive packages included than others and are made for the general application of the product unless the product is very specialised. I do not know the Amsioil Coolant Boost, never heard of it until this thread so I have no real idea how good it is, Amsoil seem to generally offer good products but again I have never used them as we have good local blenders here. Well that depends, that is a very mixed bag. The manufacturer might say to use a certain make or product for commercial or contractual reasons rather than what is best available at any given price level. What they use from factory will certainly be based on cost, mass car manufacturer has very tight manufacture costings. Then the manufacturers often do not known exacting what they're doing and make mistakes or cut one corner too many, VW are a prime example with which oils to use in say their later gearboxes and change their minds on which coolants to use in later cars 12. then 13 but no not 13 but not 14 but 12evo. 🤣 VW are not alone of course, to my use only there is changing recommendations of gear oil with our long lost old friends of British Leyland who can not decide on which manual gear oil to use and some even suggest ATF, and Ford who specific a particular oil for their first 5-speed gearbox as it's just an adaptation of the previous 4-speed then over the years the particular specification becomes so wide it has little meaning. Also time and real world use changes what can be used, the oils of only 20 years ago, let alone 40 and 60 years ago for my old car, have changed and been improved, even the ones that retain or re-establish the same branding as 40 and 60 years are different and improved in their base and additives. Not all additives are the same and not all manufacturer's recommendations are or ever were the best - but I am a big believer in following the manufacturer's recommendations via the Driver's Handbook, allowing for the passing of time and use and abuse of the car, from the start at least until you know what are improvements from this and what are not. All hail, the good book, the Driver's Handbook. 😄
