  1. Noticed that over time the rear bumper 'drops abit', thus there are small panel gaps visible where the tail light areas are. It became more obvious after it the rain and the dirt piles up at the panel gaps, and it became more noticeable. Upon removal of the rear bumper, the clips were worn out, and required to be replaced. Below are before and after pics. Something minor, but hope it helps, it can be done to 'minimize' the gaps.
  2. You got the point. It was incredible EVERYPLACE i went, they asked me why do i need that pulley.. they insist it does not matter... I am.already used to that kind of behavior here where i live... And the two screw/bolt references was given from the official former skoda distributor here. (Skoda are no longer imported here because they are too much fuel efficient) Finally the car is finished... I can not believe how smooth is check this: I am very happy guys, thanks to all of you.
  3. I am really pleased that with the help and support of this forum you were able to resolve the problem and were very fortunate with the breakdowns, there have been many reported cases of the auxiliary drive belt breaking and estrying the timng belt cover and consequently timing belt failure, bent valves etc. I'm now wondering if many of these might have been through seizure of the OAP or even worse incorrect fitment of the wrong pulley, everybody chooses on price especially a mechanic who has given a price & then wants to pay the least for the repair parts. How many of us would even have known of the existance of an OAP let alone why the alternator we chose was cheaper than the others?
  4. Seems like a Combi would suit me quite nicely. My hatchback has moved, among other things: -Those things in the picture, plus another 50 kg bag of onions in the rear seats. -A complete elliptical trainer, unfolded. -An industrial deep fryer. Three times. -A table for four, plus seats. -A stovetop oven, a queen mattress plus bed sheets, and luggage for two, all at the same time. Only thing keeping me from getting a Combi is they have a bad rep thanks to funeral homes, power users of the things round here, sadly. Maybe a Mk2 would be nicer as it doesn't look as hearse-ish as the Mk1.
  5. as for the feshty, we ran a few '05 vans for engineers pool vans back in the day, before they all got replaced by bog level connects 🙄 the feshties were grand. nippy (ish) but with an empty boot f'kall over the rear axle could make them a bit lively on bad roads. and noisy on a long journey... bleeding eardrums after a 2hr motorway to HQ kinda noisy
  6. i still love the colour. it would look vulgar on a mk1, and weird on a mk2, but it looks class on a mk3
  7. Sold today. Mostly returned to stock and sold with mud flaps, android head unit, tailored mats, vRS dash decal, colour coded Skoda badges left in situ.
  8. I think you are mis-remembering. I've just checked mine. Got in, with no 'ignition' the digital dash' wakes up;' but there is nothing on the infotainment screen. It only comes alive when you press the start button, either to switch on 'ignition' or to start the engine.
  9. Why not wait for something to turn up cheaper? Any old bodge job of fixing up the current one will be fine. Air metering happens downstream in the manifold, so it really doesn't matter if that pipe isn't 100% airtight.
  10. Is it item 12 here that you seek? LLLParts If so you want 5J0129684. Scrapyard/ebay seems the obvious place to look rather than buying new though. 5129684 5J0129684
  11. I've learned a great deal from this thread alone. Again this forum has proved invaluable - Again Id love to go the Caribbean........ Well done Kharl for getting this sorted and sorted properly 👍
  12. Any estate can be a funeral home victim. And now that car brands aren't bringing any more estates here because of them, they're switching to minivans and SUVs, so even a Yeti is a prime candidate for transportation to the "neighborhood of the lying ones". Any colour, any trim, slap a couple of stickers and that's now a hearse. Good God...

There are few others waiting from August here too. Don't forget, my coworker ordered 3 month after me and got it this week. All my options (-camera), same engine. He has also some additional options I don't have and it is a wagon. They don't care man, Skoda just doesn't care. It's fine, they don't need to, but one day we won't care, when they will need us to care.
  14. A bit like SWMBO.
  15. I'd call it Sonia... It gets Sonia nerves! Taxi...
  16. Going through the threads on this forum it seems that no one does any research before they spend tens of thousands of (insert currency here) of their money. Complaining and wanting to change so much stuff, suspension, in car ICE, charging points, how the safety stuff is set up, fitting options after receiving the car, removing options after receiving the car. Blimey it’s crazy!! I spent a while going through the options of all the cars I was considering and did appropriate test drives to decide what I wanted. And now I have a car which I am happy with. Do some people just throw some dice to decide what to order? Or were you forced at gunpoint to get an Octavia? I know I’ll get flamed for this as some people wont notice a (hopefully well intended) joke or are the perpetually offended. 😂😂😂

    Hello from France 👋
  18. This website Search results for 'skoda karoq' - How Many Left? tells you how many cars are still registered or SORN. If you delve deeper you can find out the engine sizes fitted - but not the colours! Chris
  19. For me I would check the service history including timing belt and water pump. If DSG ensure it has been serviced every 40,000 miles. If it is a DSG I would haggle a service in or price reduction given it would be due in 3000 miles. Make sure the heater works both sides. If not it might be the silicone bag split issue. Plenty of threads on here about that. I would seek to remove and refit an expansion tank that does not have a silicome bag in. If you have OBDeleven etc I would check the level of DPF ash. Much more than that check panel alignment, overspray marks and any changes in colour etc.
  20. Thanks Routemaster. Yes obviously a real senior moment. Isn't the brain weird!!

On one of my cars I swapped the tyres from a 155 80 13 tyre to a 175 70 13 tyre on the same 5J wide rim. The tread width on the 155 tyre was about 105 mm. The tread width on the 175 tyre was about 135 mm. So a 20 mm wider tyre but with an increase of 30 mm in tread width. Thanks, AG Falco

The tread width gets wider as the aspect ratio gets lower for any given tyre width. For example, 205/40 has a much wider tread width than 205/70. So to support this wider tread, the range of rim width needs to be wider. Tread width is not the same as tyre width.

Lucky you! My week 7 build was not started this week but should be done next week. Ordered end of August, but it's an L&K with a few extras.
  24. i will be going to tesco soon to get some duct tape, that should do the job till i can find a pipe cheap enough.

I tested at the fuse with volt meter and have power there.
  26. thank you just had a look on ebay to try and find one same a mine. didnt write the model number down so will do that later.
  27. They sell a similar generic version at home bargains, it's a bit too small for the Octavia but it still works well enough. Can't find it online sorry.
  28. It's in a similar place to mine, with me having the BME engine (the older version of yours, in a way). Regardless, the pipe that goes from the air filter box to the engine itself should be replaced if broken, snapped, or damaged.

In my experience, if it's just an occasional random occurance, those who take steps such as this either never reply or say the problem has magically gone away. That said given how heavily tinted it is, I'd be impressed if anyone would know if their blind is open or closed from the outside. It'd be even worse for a camera to see. Electrics in modern vehicles are incredibly complicated but it's almost impossible to think what would cause the sunroof blind to close on it's own. What I'd suggest is to open your blind, go outside the car and then globally close it using your jkey fob. It may seem a long time to close when you're impatiently sitting in the driving seat, but when you watch it close from elsewhare, the reality is it's only a matter of seconds. Anything pressed against that 'close' button on the keyfob could easily have triggered it.
  30. Quoting myself here, the following I copied at random from another thread which illustrates to me the disconnect between myself, a driver and vehicle maintenance enthusiast and the newer generation of owners, its not aimed at the person who posted it, it could have been any of the comments in the thread: I have spin enabled, am the primary user and have biometric set too. It’s always wrong when I open the app. Happens on my driveway, happens at the supermarket etc. it always seems to need me to press the refresh button and wait 10-20 seconds. it’s like either the app isn’t pulling down the data (background refresh on iPhone is enabled) or something is wrong during the information update when the app opens. Maybe the mobile reception for the e-sim is weak. But that doesn’t explain why it works when I press refresh… I’ve tried reloading the app, doesn’t help. I am not ashamed, maybe even proud to say that I do not have a clue what the above means nor do I want to, it also illustrates why when I scan through "Active Topics" most of them these days I have no interest in reading. The title of this thread was very apt for my reaction when I read the above or other similar postings.
  31. Might well be worth a punt, depending on what they are asking. Lots of miles regularly could easily be low-stress motorway miles, so not so much clutch wear. Routine servicing means careful enough owner and probably wants to reduce breakdowns etc. Long term owners tend to point to reliability too. If no problems engaging gears or pulling load from low revs, clutch should last you a while with your miles, but replacement cost could easily mean it easier for you to write off the cost of the car Vs DMF clutch replacement.
  32. Wiping a dry cloth over a dry plastic lens results in one thing, lots of small scratches... As LED headlights get brighter, then the chances of dazzling other roads users with poor condition lenses is also likely to increase.

Any wrapping company / signwriting company will be able to replace the vinyl / remove it for much less than skoda will charge.
  34. My phone (Pixel 5) does get slightly warm but it's been fine as it's not exactly fast charging as it would with a wired charger. BUT... the arm rest box is chilled via the air con so win win 😀 I'm sure that's what it was designed for 🤔
  35. Whether it fits or not is not the issue, the issue is - gearboxes have codes because there are differences - whether thats gearing, software, optional extras, different driveshaft cups, different selectors. Just because it came out of a superb doesnt mean it will work. On top of that the mk3 uses the gearbox as part of the immobiliser, the mk2 i dont believe does, the car will not start.
  36. It would depend on other markers for me - service history, state of repair (what it looks like), length of ownership and how many owners, etc. I've got one I bought with 53k on and now has 109k, is oil tight, runs sweet and doesn't make any noises I would consider nasty. I've replaced consumables and outside a couple of bulbs the only failure has been one of the front springs. The same age car with 10 owners would have me thinking there might be something wrong with it.
  37. Gridserve are good at talking the talk, will reserve judgement on how they walk the walk. Wetherby likely next hub to go live, currently 6 hubs in build. Instavolt claim to have 200 new chargers this year including hubs (just opened Banbury). Osprey ditto (using the excellent Kempower chargers). All making big claims, lets see if reality backs that up. My money is Instavolt will deliver, but will remain the most expensive.
  38. I quite like the idea of being carted off in the back of a Skoda when my time comes
  39. Judging by the photo, no it wont fit the MQB superb you have!
  40. Every car brand new is suffering awful build times, some quote over a year now from order, other brands are closing their books to new orders for certain models, production lines halted, dealers cancelling new orders unless in production line. If they are quoting 12-14 weeks that is very good. I can easily believe this will go alot longer once Skoda start getting the order books filled up. Buying a new car a minefield for delivery. I have been thinking of a couple of other options of brand (been waiting for the Monte Carlo, but not sure on it yet, not totally sold on the look), and people had cars on order since last June with no confirmed delivery date.
  41. Is it interchangeable, does it fit your shaft? You have no need for an OAD shaft unless you have an alternator like a power station turbine.
  42. My Bear just got new rears under warranty. Under 12,000 miles in 21 months. No argument. It’s a well known problem of poor disc and pad material at times. Same as previous car which had 2 replacement sets till proper materials were fitted
  43. Crackin photo that gaz ,i would love to see the northern lights 👍

I contacted the dealer today first time after talking with them in december. Back then he told me that the car should be done and delivered to them in the end of JAN / start of FEB. Of course he never contacted me after that, so i called to see what he has to say... His co-worker answered because he is sick(covid i think), and told me that Škoda changed the date and they never got the car 😅. He then looked at the dates and the new provisional date is week 19 2022(MAY)! So yeah, i am waiting from APRIL 2021 and they still have no clue when will i get the car?!? If they continue with managing things like this i might get the car by the end of the year, or not get it at all since they can do that too?!? 🧐😅
  45. Pardon me for been an old cynic but i thought the chavs of today weapon of choice was the fiesta st
