Just got a phone call from my local dealer. The car has left the port of Emden and should be here in 7 to 10 days. I ordered in mid Jan so that's 8 months from order to delivery, assuming nothing bad happens. It's a 2.0TSi DSG vRS.
  4. How old is the battery?
  5. The symptoms seem to suggest the battery has become lazy.
  6. Good day to everyone! My name is Daniele, I own a 19 years old Fabia MK1 Combi! She has been my very first car and is with me since 2015. I'm learning how to tinker with her, fixing problems on my own and building up some mechanical knowledge which is never enough. Hope I can learn lots of things here, and maybe share my little experience!
  7. I'm confident enough to say that test isn't worth doing, actually. The car can't tell the difference between an unconnected trailer light board and a blown indicator bulb unless you tell it there may be a trailer connected via that coding change.
  8. That horn almost sounds like bagpipes which is most appropriate 😄
  9. @DieselMonte It looks better than mine and I'm still thinking of saving it.
  10. Same here - I consider my 1.9tdi Roomie Scout the best car I have owned during 50 years of car ownership. Sold only because of the need for DSG due to the return of an old knee injury. Fortunately, I consider my Yeti a close second.
  11. Wow, many many months have passed... holy ****. What have I done in that time? I could say absolutely nothing, but that would be a blatant lie. I can't be bothered to write out a big detailed post, so you'll get it in list form with pictures... New tyres - Falken EcoRun Ziex tyres. Very nice. Hole in the exhaust... Cleaned it. Cupholder. Broke down. P0171, running lean. It's been away since I cleared it. Thanks to @Breezy_Pete for delivering over the phone tech advice when I was having a meltdown in the Tesco car park in Carlisle. Horns, ****ing air horns. (They're not actually musical) 20220905_162002.mp4.712e3c4ee358625090800d5428746d91.mp4 Met up with a mate with a C5. Tow bar. And now we're here. Smashing. Now... any questions?
  12. They do not drive like a Mk2 Fabia of any flavour / wheel size IMO. They feel more solid. I have driven automatic Fabia hatch & estates with Tiptronic and DSG's and also Roomsters with both these autos.

They must do this on purpose and hope customer doesn't notice. I don't understand how this can happen. So they "plan" production of cars based on equipment/components the order needs. You wait a very, very long time, because they don't have all of the components. Then they start making your car and noone checks what equipment should be in it? Then after it is built noone checks if car is built to specification and everything ordered is in the car? Now you will have to wait again and drive back to the dealer for a retrofit, assuming they will at least offer you one. Probably they will just try to refund you for side assist. Wow! 😮
  14. 2 points
Keep your head. I know a guy who retrofitted that on mk7.5 golf and it was not hard.

Would certainly seem so, whilst I know some businesses will tolerate a loss trying to disrupt a marketplace enough to leave themselves dominant, Cazoo have posted hundreds of millions in losses in just a couple of years along with now starting to heavily cut staff. I don't see how it's going to be sustainable.
  16. Everything can be fixed it's just how much you want to spend unfortunately....
  17. Not my picture, but this is Emley Moor tower lit up for the Queen.

Ok so after being given a “provisional build week of 12th sept” I surprisingly got an email Sept 13th to say my car was complete and currently waiting shipment to the UK from a port In Germany. And to expect delivery mid October. I’m as shocked as everyone else. I will update the spreadsheet.
  20. @Snowr0- if u have the Pro version of OBDEleven, I can send u instructions of the stuff I've done to my Superb over the years. - Activated Alarm Chirps while Locking/Unlocking - Enabled Traffic Management Notifications - Activated High Beam Assist (HBA) - Enabled Foglights as Coming/Leaving Home - Lowered Cornering Lights activation speed - Enabled Rear lights with DRL - Coding Eyelashes to be always on (requires SLA headlights) - Enabled DRL Menu in Infotainment - Disabled Tailgate Beep - Enabled Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR) - Enabled Refuel Quantity - Disabled Undertaking Prevention - Enabled Instrument (Dashboard) Cluster to be Always Illuminated. - Modified Outside Ice Warning Temperature - Performed DCC Recalibration - Enabed Ignition (Engine Start/Stop) button Pulse lighting - Changed Driving Profile Throttle Response - Changed Indicator Flashing As mentioned earlier, as tempting as it is, avoid using the OBDEleven One Click Apps - if it doesn't work, u can't revert back without any traces left behind and can cause more headaches!! Some apps won't work, and u waste credits, even more to revert it cause it didn't work. With the Pro version, u can do the changes step by step, and u know exactly wat u changed. U don't get visibility with the One Click Apps. With regards to Start-Stop - I fitted the Start-Stop Memory Module in mine years ago. Gives u the freedom to still use the Start-Stop function at ur will, and also remember the last stated it was in when u switched the car off. Much much more handy and practical than permanently coding it out, in my opinion.
  21. Longer is far more likely to cause potential brake failure through rubbing than "just long enough" I would go with just long enough every time.
  22. PM me if you'd like to consider a repair by post. I'd replace the original wiring in the 'flex zone' with extra-flexible ones of appropriate gauge, solder joined and sleeved beyond, in the door area. In terms of part number, there are usually enough variants to make scrutiny of the part number label on your existing loom preferable.
  23. It's a requirement in theory, either an auditory or visual confirmation, so you can tell if one's failed. In practice, I don't think they test towing electrics of the 7-pin variety at MOT IIRC. Won't work if it's an LED lightboard btw, unless you add some resistors in parallel to make them look to the control unit like proper bulbs.

Not sure how it's designed at Skoda, but on my Megane GT the blind spot sensors were two extra (one on each side on the rear bumper); so 6 sensors in total: 4 for rear parking assistance and 2 more for blind spot. Those 2 are looking more to the side compared to the other 4. But I agree with you; if you want to have it, accept nothing less!
  25. How did the towbar get wired in? Have you got the towing indicator light confirmation on the dash going?
  26. I was always very happy with the planted feel of my Roomie Scout, the other cars at the time were a 2010 Yeti and a 2007 Touran so we were used to solid motors. I think Roomies have Fabia front ends with Golf rear end and this adds a great deal to the secure feel. Mine was remapped, came with all the toys and factory fitted 13 pin tow electrics - the ONLY reason I can remember for the sale being the constant battle in the house to get to the Yeti 2.0tdi keys first.

Here's my own setup. Garmin Dash Cam 57, polarising filter and USB-C to MicroUSB cable. The camera is completely hidden behind the rear view mirror from the driver's point of view.

There's no such thing as USB delivering 'too much power'. The consuming device only draws what's necessary to operate. You will not fry a 5 watt device by plugging it into a 120 watt phone charger for example. Sounds like you either had a bad cable or there was some other problem. Glad you got it working, though 🙂

There are so many cars out there during this supposed shortage of used cars that drove up the asking prices of used cars and inflation. During lockdown anything that came in the country got registered and especially if they were supposedly low C02 emitters. Lent out to NHS or whoever, leased out, bought by Motability and leased out. Cars that were never raced or rallied, well not on a track but just miles put on them and then back to the owner & on to auction or to the Pile them high and sell them cheap or not so cheap. Actually for more than they are really worth. Banks, financial services / Insurance companies and foreign finance and investment money into online companies buying cars, turning cars around and maybe even making losses or what looks like a loss as you pay tax on profits and paying back borrowed money means your profits are low or zero.
  30. So, you have a four year warranty with Skoda themselves, yet you still had to pay £270? "Warranty contributions" are when the dealer and/or manufacturer offer a goodwill gesture towards none or out-of warranty costs.
  31. Welcome. Best talk with who you would use to do a remap. I would not use a Plug in Tuning box. The DSG can be remapped as well. It should be fine if you were looking to just go to 150 PS or so. The DQ200 DSG works fine as long as not faulty and can handle more than the 250Nm that VW has as the limit for it. People run tuned petrol engines with over 200 bhp & 300 Nm with a standard DQ200, clutches and ECU / Manuagement.
  32. Give it a try, if updated it should be enough to get some results.

Well I hope they resolve the issue in your favour. I sure intend to, I will bring a flashlight and check everything for possible scratches and stuff 😉
  34. As @radders567 has mentioned, the battery might be getting on a bit now. If that is still the original battery then that's really good, odds are you/someone else has already replaced it once since new roughly speaking. The first cool nights have been arriving, and could have took the last legs out from under the battery (enough to warn about stop/start faults) Try to get it tested to get a reading on the CCA value left in the battery. You may wish to locate someone close by with VCDS or similar to get a code read (if stored) to try and locate which cylinder(s) may have flagged up a fault due to the misfire. Could be a small break in a wire, that will get worse over time, in the early days it will be intermittant. Might be an idea to unplug each electrical connector to each injector if you can and inspect the pins for any possible corrosion?
  35. Seems like a good idea but somebody, somewhere, lives at the top of a mountain, charges fully every night and doesn't have any regen capacity at the start of their journey...
  36. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/505938-i-need-help-with-sorting-some-computer-settings-that-have-suddenly-just-been-lost @hetty1 Has some other helpful person at the dealership taken 10 minutes to show you how the systems work and how to choose screens and to use the scroll wheel on the steering wheel? They have usually never heard of it before, or 'they all do that'. That is because the Sales People were maybe selling white goods or doing some other job just recently and know nothing about cars really. Book them in and put them in the hands of the Service Desk Staff who know even less, and might get told something by an actual Technician who might have seen it before, or actually seen it and fixed it.
  37. The only time I'm bothered about main dealer stamps or records is when the car is within warranty. I'd rather buy a used car from an enthusiast whom had serviced it himself & kept records. I'll be servicing my recently purchased Octavia yearly, even though it's on the extended service intervals. I see no harm to 5k oil change intervals if that's what an owner decides to do. I've also bought many used cars in the past with a fdsh (none manufacturer specific) & they've never had the pollen or air filters changed, after I'd checked them myself afterwards. Now I've bought a Skoda I hope I don't have to visit a main dealer for a very long time😂
  38. I do recall you posted about it occurring. It might have been an idea to carry on the old thread? Anyhow, does seem like a momentary break in power causing a brief power loss that might be affecting the various modules, or a pinched wire shorting out. Hopefully they can find something.
  39. depends on the options that play nice with the regen but typically you don’t want to reduce brake size but rather use lighter calipers and rotors. Cast slider brake calipers are cheap and very heavy so things like Cupra 4 pot Brembos can save 3kg per caliper on 340mm VAG brakes for example. Two piece rotors can be much lighter while maintaining the size. Lightweight wheels and dropping from 19 to 17-18 inches would save a bunch of weight too. these things aren’t cheap but they maintain their value and could be sold easily when the car is disposed of.
  40. Also the cutting of power in the first place is a safety feature, because its assumed the accelerator may be stuck, so you're trying to brake. The SSP also makes reference to the fact that, if one of the pair of brake light switches fail, then the ECU will reduce power.
  41. The clutch pedal switch is there to make it easier to change gear. If you rev the car in netrual, clutch up, the revs fall slowly. If you put the clutch down, you'll notice they drop really quickly. Easier to tell if you keep blipping the throttle and moving the clutch up and down. I summise that with the clutch up, if you let off the throttle, the ECU keeps injecting some fuel so you don't get hit with a huge amount of engine braking. But obviously, when you want to change gear, you need to revs to fall quickly, so when the clutch goes down the ECU cuts more fuel. See SSP 209 for details on the above To disable this "nicely" you need to flash the ECU and change one byte. Need to use Galleto/MPPS or similar.
  42. Yes. Even tried pulling it down a bit and pushing it again to make sure I could actually move it... but each time it is opening all the way to the top. And then 🤬 beeping.

I like the RAC Approved Used Dealerships and 92 point checks and 1 year Warranty & Road Side Assistance or option 4 year Warranty etc. Dealers can advertise the cars for sale as soon as dropped off & even before they even have them and having the 92 point inspection. Obviously they do at some point inspect the cars, put anything right & all is well. Cazoo have the cars there, have a socially inclusive employment policy which includes the employment of photographers and the visually impaired.

When you look at a car on their site can you download the results of the 300 point inspection? I have often wondered what 300 points are inspected.

Gz mate and here’s to many safe kms 🥂😊
  46. I've just seen this as I've not been on all week. I took a couple of photos in case you still need them. Front : Rear : They may not be to the nearest millimetre but I hope this helps.
  47. I ended up calling the dealer that sold the car first time. Their sales team was very helpful providing a PDF with all the car data and options. As I suspected I actually learned a couple of things I never knew, like the car has "telescopic front headlight washers" and that the mat in the boot has a rubberized underside so it can be flipped over and used if you need to transport messy or wet things.

just had notification from the lease company that my car is ready for collection/delivery to me. Just need to book a convenient time with them. vrs iv estate, canton, dcc, pano roof. ordered may 2021, i hope it’s not broken when it arrives.

I heard from the dealer today. My VRS has arrived and I can collect it next Tuesday. Yay!!

I was able to add anything I want to the car till this month. Dealer also said this won't push my order to the end of the waiting list. I added things like heated steering wheel, heated seats, child lock, sun blinds, heated windshield... There was also no request from Skoda about the reverse camera, so it is still in the order. I also don't think cameras are still a problem, because it is again available for order in the configurator.
