  1. Look for an unplugged connector near the battery negative post.
  2. Just to confirm, my problem was the same as all the others, broken wire at the reverse light switch. I have had it replaced by my local independent garage, all good now.
  3. VW group need to get selling more of the EV,s they already have in production at lower prices. They are so behind the other manufacturers that have smaller EV,s selling now and going to 2nd or 3rd generations already. The Magazine's / Media need to call out the VW bosses and ask if they will take a 200 euro deposit now on a car to sell for 20,000 euro in 2 years and deliver cars or 250 euros on 25,000 euro ones. VW are so full of guff to get social media coverage.
  4. In a former life I was a marine engineer and loved my 20,000 main engine with 1,000 hp generators and what they could do ie push a 100,000 ship through the water and round the world so diesel, and petrol, torque from an internal combustion engine is something I appreciate. I did not know about this and this is so impressive I think. Somebody had a brain storm particularly replacing those massive 1,000 litre saddle diesel tanks with battery packs which can be changed faster than the old diesel tanks could be filled with diesel. Maintenance and running most massive big wins. My big worry would be gangs stealing the battery packs which are worth an absolute fortune !!! e
  5. Hi Gaz, If you came again, here in Italy near Pisa, we will take a coffee together but please, try to improve your italian because my english is very bad 🙂

Tayna were excellent, next day delivery, in the end I got a Bosch EFB 027 battery.
  7. I finaly got my Yeti back a few days ago, just over £1500 to sort out and it is great to have the vehicle back up and running. A whole bunch of work done, replacement fuel rail, injectors, battery, new water pump and belt, full service and everything that includes so all in all £1500 is not to bad. I have forgoton how to set up a couple of things and because of the works undertaken the workshop did a factory reset to clear all fault codes, I understand this, unfortunatly this has made disapear a couple of things that were enabled, one being the big didital speedo. However I have just invested in a Carista module/dongle and viewed a very good how to You Tube video so will have the big speedo back up and showing by the weekend. Good to be able to use my MP3 player and lisen again to my varied mix of music. All is good, it is one thing less I have to worry or feel bad about.

I had a similar question regarding my unused spare on my Honda Jazz which though 12 years old looked brand new with no signs of cracking or aging. I contacted Bridgestone who manufactured the tyre and received the following: “Thanks for your mail, which has been passed to me for reply. For this space saver tyre, if the tyre has been stored in good condition and is displaying no signs of ageing then it should still be suitable for emergency use. However I would stress that space saver tyres are a temporary mobility solution and if used, should be changed for a full sized tyre as soon as possible, driving for a maximum of 50 miles at 50mph. As with any natural product, rubber does age and will become more susceptible to cracking as it does. The rate of ageing depends on how the tyre is stored and what it is exposed to. We cannot offer an official cut-off point at which a tyre should not be put into service but based on my own knowledge I would recommend changing a tyre of this type once it is 10 years from date of manufacture. I hope this helps, and if you need any more info, let me know. Best regards Pete Peter Moulding Lead Field Engineer Bridgestone UK Ltd”
  9. Absolutely we must not forget that even little EVs like my Zoe can suck up more power ie two, three or four times, than the average house can ie Zoe at 125 amps and 370 volts at peak where as an average house would max at 60A and 220-240v before blowing the main fuse. I would be quite happy with 30 kW as that is two thirds of the max I can get, even 22 kw AC is half of my maximum but those with 60, 75, 100 kw potential downloading speed may be unchuffed to suddenly get choked from 60 to 30 kW, just waiting for the first report of public charger fistiechuffs over such a scenario. I still think there is a market for roving vans decked out with charging which hovers round over busy public charging hubs or rescues EV driver who have run out or a in tortoise mode. EV drivers just need to get to the point, and I think it is only a year or two away. Where every other garage decides to rip out its fossil fuel pumps and convert to EV power supplying. Potentially a much more massive profit margin as GRIDSERVE Braintree, Norwich, Gatwick next in a few months, roll on Plymouth hopefully next year.
  10. It is a cast iron part that goes through extreme heat cycles. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that - and the term rust generally implies penetrative corrosion - this is surface oxidization which is perfectly normal for cast iron and is not a defect or an issue. Replacing an entire turbo and it would look the exact same after a few months. And going down the legal route before even speaking to them nicely is just terrible practice and rude - that would be if there was an issue (which this isnt)
  11. The piers at Blyth on the N E coast:
  12. You can disable AFS in vehicle settings->headlight. It might be called differently, like "assisted headlights" or anything like that. In my case it's second option from the top. As for maps, if you have Bolero, than you have maps, but not navigation. Car is using maps for many purposes, including matrix headlights and travel assist. Bolero and Columbus are basicaly same hardware, with satnav blocked in software for Bolero. But maps are there in both cases, and are actively used by multiple systems in the car.
  13. Update it was the column switch, my dipp beams are working perfect now, Thanks again everyone👍
  14. You'll have to forgive me in starting this thread late and writing most of this thread (to date) almost a year and a quarter after purchasing my Mk1 vRS TDI. Its been a journey... Without further adieu, welcome to the thread in which I'll be keeping updates and build progress on my own 2006 mk1 fabia vRS. As a bit of an explanation for some of the silly financial decisions, this project is born from nostalgia and as my affordable dream car. Not a wholly impressive one to most, it's what I wanted though, probably stemming from my first car. That was an X reg mk1 fabia 1.4 16v in cayenne orange and what a first car it was... Until it threw a rod that is... So, after trawling the depths of Facebook Marketplace I came across a fairly well presented vRS. It was advertised as completely standard (we'll get to that) and the only thing detracting from the car was n/s quarter panel damage in the ad. I'm not going to lie, it was a shed. It was a prime breaker. Although it hadn't had any parts of significant value added, so would have been harvested for what straight panels it had, and crushed. The battery was flat, door cards fell away when doors shut, central locking and windows didn't work, it shook like mad no matter whether it was idling or not, the passenger headlight was not attached to any part of the car, and it was as clean as your local public toilet. One eyebrow raising ridealong later i was sold, I'm a good boy and don't drive cars without insurance, nor did I want to drive it after learning it was re-mapped. But, I fell in love with the car and the surprising lack of rust on it... (Ps, it was also the first fabia vRS I'd gone to see in person as well. I can hear the eye rolls from here) So once I got my hands on it, I had to apply for the logbook (as the previous 4 owners, or so I'm told, never bothered applying for a new one... speeding tickets aplenty I presume) and I gave it a thorough wash. In the interest of readability I'll list the issues I found: Windscreen cracked O/S zone A Snapped O/S engine mount (not the bushing... Engine was listing a solid 40 degrees) Airbox screws all missing, aftermarket panel filter loose in housing. Probably doing about as much as using a sieve to catch water Loose engine cover rubbing on boost pipe Obligatory plastic boost pipe leaks Dent (almost a crater, had done a check before purchase and is cat D, wasn't advertised as such 🚩) Tyres, had Michelin pilot sport 3's on the front but one had a nasty sidewall cut, rears mismatched and cracking Alloys all curbed, heavily corroded and no centre caps Rear bumper cracked/ scuffed Front bumper damaged n/s entire front corner scuffed Drivers door dented from previous owner reversing close to a wall with the door open O/S fog light blown (what a PITA that was) Usual rips in seat bolsters and the seat foam was that far gone on the passenger side, the seat frame was visibly protruding No parcel shelf More fag ash behind the door cards than in a wetherspoons ashtray Drivers door loom broken, door lock microswitch toast Passenger window regulator and leaking rear door regs No brake fluid cap Various creaks and knocks Poorly ran sub wiring and no sub to be seen As a note, that list isn't exhaustive and I was fully aware of most of those issues or as to what I could expect to find further down the road... Or so I thought
  15. I mean, a mass petition would of been not buying the car no? You purchased the car with that feature advertised so why buy it if you dont want it?
  16. Different turbo would be my guess.
  17. They might be fine pitch rather than standard thread pitch like those Screwfix ones surely will be. Stainless will also be weaker.
  18. One day, Harry will get this to run reliably. Gorgeous looking car
  19. Sorry to hear that. I hope it doesn't happen to mine and I hope you get your information back soon.
  20. 🤬 Well there's a surprise, it's all working and all data back 😁
  21. My company already licences batteries to be used on Mercedes buses. Seven 64 kwh solid state Lithium Metal Polyimide batteries five in the roof space above the passengers, two in the spare space in the engine compartment as the lecky motor take up so little space. Bjorn Nyland popped down to Germany from Norway to do a feature on it. Thought we might get the Mercedes Truck but they went another way. We, Bollore, already do 12M EV single deck buses in France and Singapore using a combo of the EV batteries and Ultracapacitors, on daily running it is the capacitors I understand and the lithium MP battery is just to get it back to the depot. The charging at the bus shelters is positively surreal, 20 seconds in, 20 seconds charge, beat that fossil fuel fillers .....
  22. Thanks for that information. I did the same and now everything is back with me too. Thanks again.
  23. The huge torque from an electric motor could really work with trucks and the saddlebag batteries could be made a great idea. I would hazard a guess that something similar could be done with buses. Truck stops could be built in areas that suit renewable energy the whole thing could almost go off grid. In Aus they could have battery stations next to big solar farms.
  24. Hi, I was using an electronic test meter to check if the wiring was intact. Although there was no visible damage at the plug inside the bellows it was possible to have damaged wiring inside the door. My testing seems to show that the wiring is intact. I am just thinking that at ten pounds it is worth getting another switch, If it turns out not to be the switch I will have a spare ready for the inevitable day when the switch does pack up.
  25. I know it is an old thread but I thought it was worth reminding us that if the car is stationary, engine protection will not allow you to rev the engine above ~3000 rpm.

Hi. You managed to set up connect without any issues 👍 As you may have seen on the forum, this is a problematic area for many. Very few people chose to continue with the service after one year. With wireless Android Auto available, I don't see reason to do so. I don't have the latest facelift model so not 100% on your particular car but would be surprised if your LED headlights were not self levelling. It's likely the option you see in the infotainment is for adjusting them when you drive on the continent - gives you the option to set them for right or left hand drive.
  27. Thanks toot, we've had the car about 7 years now. I'll likely just check the wiring to the ABS pump and it's earthing wire.....not too keen to take it to the dealer. Strange that they've just sent this letter now?....got the emissions recall letter about 6 years ago....never got that done either !
  28. KIA and Hyundai are a million miles away from their earlier cars. I too was a critic of their engines and in certain respects their 'normal' ICE's remain old school. Thing is, not many people buy those engines anymore, it's their newer hybrid tech and EV that sell. If I'd been in the market for a car the same size as the Karoq I'd defo have given Hyundai / Kia strong consideration but as we want something smaller I've gone elsewhere as exactly same accusations can be said of Kamiq.
  29. I live in Madrid, in the center. It does not rain much. For me, the Primacy offer me durability with sufficient features for urban and extra-urban use and highway trips to high cruisers. I've been with the current 50,000 kms and they still have a lot of drawing left, although they sound a little more, but this may be due to the Koni Special Active.
  30. All my data is back, including profile picture and points. Also it keeps me logged in.
  31. I swear there used to be a lot more tech guys on this board. anyway, I managed to catch the engine misbehaving. I pulled the plug off the MAF in time and the revs smoothed out. I replaced the MAF yesterday with the hella part from GSF. Car has started perfectly since, and is noticeably more responsive. just need to get underneath and rip off the rattling heat shield and that should be it for a while.
  32. I need to be careful because frothing ASD rally-jacketry... I enjoyed the silly funny film but some might've found it a bit flippant!
  33. Lady E would be up for that as well... I'm sure
  34. ...a big googly eye on each one, or have I misread the room?
  35. Things to put on foglights. Cartoon goats or rams that broke your bumper? Cracked glass pattern, Spider's web.....
  36. I've got the DQ200 yeah, but I thought they would behave similarly. It's not a hybrid, just bi-fuel CNG/petrol with the 1.5 TSI.
  37. £17,000 is Clickbait & just spin. There are comments with that article which are correct. A VW e-Up! is over £23,000 & a SEAT Mii nearly the same.
  38. Just lift your foot quicker off the accelerator and it will go straight to engine braking. Takes some time to get used to, but when you do you can force either coasting or engine braking just by the way you lift your foot.
  39. I'd be up for a pair as well, just saying. 🙂
  40. More likely a broken wire in the bellows between driver's door and A-pillar; it's almost compulsory on a mk2. What year is the car?
  41. Have you not noticed how ignorant the dealers are about what they are selling? My experience here in the UK is that they know practically nothing other than the published specification of the car. After-sales help is zero. They plug it in to diagnostics and then bow down before the all-mighty computer and OBEY!
  42. Sometimes for no apparent reason it does this, my last one did it as well, if you keep driving it will always eventually reset itself as you have already found out, almost like the system is doing a self test and re-calibration while still driving, similar to when you turn the ignition off and on again and it has to self test itself. It's well known that snow, heavy rain and similar is too much for the sensor to handle but I've had it happen in brilliant sunshine on the odd occasion. There is the possibility a large bug, leaf or something has landed on the sensor but I've never seen any residual evidence of this happening and it has always worked again after several minutes of continued driving. There is the possibility your sensor is faulty so it will be interesting to see if any faults are logged.
  43. Hi, yes, it was the wire to the reversing sensor.
  44. That's the most sensible thing I've heard in terms of EV's in a really long time. Love the fact that they're recycling what could well be an end of life vehicle.

@OldKaroq Thank you 😊 Its ‘Graphite Grey’ in Škoda speak, slightly darker than ‘Business Grey’ 👍🏻 Very early days but having done around 70 miles so far I’m very impressed, I need to get some centre caps ordered so I can take the cheese graters off the wheels though, can’t say I’m a fan…
  46. By radio station presets, are you referring to what they now call ‘Favorites’? I’ll assume so for now. Short answer is you can’t. (Or if it can be done I haven;’t found it, yet). Best I have come up with (as in how I find it easiest to operate) is to use the two buttons on the lower left hand spoke of the steering wheel to cycle through the Favorites. Works for me, but then I only have three in that list. Alternatively, a tap on the radio portion opens it full screen; then drag from the right (or was it the left, I can’t remember, sorry!) to display the favourites. The screen layout can be configured; a ‘touch and hold’ will bring up the edit screen. Multiple ‘Home’ screens can be created and the cells configured within each. You probably found most/all of this already anyway; if so, apologies for stating the bleeding obvious…

    That's not same as mines.
  48. Saw my first '23 plate Skoda today on the M40: I like it, and the colour choice 😎 Gaz
  49. Now I think I know where I'm coming when I want a 2.slow dropped into my Fabia.
