  1. Since manuelin is in Ecuador I really doubt that East Yorkshire Retrofits did it!
  2. I observed to my son tonight while sitting at a set of lights that there had been quite a change. At the front of the queue, a Tesla Model Y, then a Cupra Born, then a Volvo EV (sorry they all look the same so not sure which one) , then us, behind us a Zoe and then a Model 3. That was just at one junction. To say there are hardly any EVs around is just not real in my experience.
  3. 'Don;t worry be happy'. Stay calm and carry on. There could be a pandemic again, and a Bulk carrier blocking some shipping route like the Suez canal, a volcano might erupt cause chaos in the skies and the Internet Super Highway might be broken. Then the UK could suffer a winter like 1962-63. PS, many people do only deal in cash and cash is what they have when shopping, or fuelling up etc. They do not use Pay at Pumps, just as they will not be using EV chargers.
  4. No truer word had been said. When one seeks out problems, especially on platforms with algorithm to keep feeding you the same, one find problems. But in actual fact there is very little problem in the real world for vast majority of people.
  5. I was talking about Supermarket tills. Not fuel pumps. You quoted me. did you not think. TILLS. Then for fuel £99 precharge went long ago up here for fuel at the pumps.. There was £45 pre charge pending at an Osprey EV charger. @Graham Butcher You worry too much about things that you need not worry about as far as charging an EV, or running one.
  6. Who on this forum has denied the theft of cable? Not responding to your comments (or anybodies) is not strange.
  7. Not an issue; I was making a statement that rural areas can and do adapt to pay at pump as support for you.
  8. stick a generator in the caravan and charge whilst driving ;o)
  9. I have a diesel as well as an EV. I rarely use the diesel on long trips as it means as extra stops are needed (we need the usual comfort breaks and food stops but in the diesel we need to make fuel stops on top). Last week I took the diesel on a trip down South and I had to fuel up. From the point where I leftthe Edinburgh bpyass, got to costco (the first filling station I passed) filled up and got back on the bypass it was 25 minutes. This idea that you take 5 minutes is for the birds
  10. Hi folks, after 5 years and nearly 100,000 miles of Superb ownership, with the odo less than 1k short 200k, I've decided to move away from the beautiful big bus and get something a little newer and less travelled. Which is kind of annoying me because I only had the timing belt and pump done about 4k ago, but other factors were in play. However, I'm only moving 'next door', as I've bought a 14plate octavia elegance estate 😄, with the dsg box and 81k on it, really good spec. Looking forward to the laziness of the auto box, but I'll miss the power of the 170 horses. Just got to sell the big yin now...not looking forward to that. Anyone looking to buy?😁
  11. The first~ a Boys’ Brigade publicity photo taken at the Raleigh factory when I was 16 (my usual mount was a Norton 350 Model 50) The 2nd pic was a couple of weeks ago aboard a Kawasaki Z400 on holiday in Gran Canaria.
  12. Maybe we will be going back to the future, or the future will be like the past. It might not just be shortages for transport fuels, but also gas for generating electricity, so brown outs for one and all other than those that can generate their own electricity and be Off Grid and boil their kettle.
  13. You’re not the first unfortunately.
  14. actually that's maybe an anti theft measure the supermarkets could implement. Make you preauthorise on a card as you enter the store and don't let you enter until you do? Meanwhile self service tills have their place, especially if you're only grabbing a few items, don't use them for the full weekly shop
  15. You could, but the problem you find is that they are a 1 piece system. OEM are very hard to get hold of and I doubt you'll find any at the factories now. I would look into have a fully custom built one. If you can find a second hand that would be even better. If you have Milltek or Piper in Sweden, they are bolt on systems.
  16. Belt was done in 2020, but only 10 or 15k miles ago. Can't see it running as well as it did straight afterwards if there was a timing issue.
  17. Yes, low revs under slight load, barely any throttle opening can exacerbate DMF rattle, usually in the higher gears though, say slowing to 30mph, an old DMF has you changing down earlier than you might otherwise but it gives it an easier time. If you have just done some work then theres a good chance it may be related so for you thats a good thing. You can usually feel a failing DMF by kickback through the clutch pedal under certain conditions.
  18. I am lost now, as you seem to be. You really need to understand that regardless of the horror stories and those that see all the problems second hand or compile all the issues and negative things there are many that have no issues. Plenty with EV,s that have issues will tell others, and if they have had enough of them will drive something else as their own personal transport.
  19. There are supermarkets putting tills back in as the Self Service schemes have been failures theft wise and customer satisfaction wise. But more and more Self Pay and Pack now have AI identifying the item as you move it from the trolley or basket before you scan it. Also it has your picture. So Facial recognition will be simple to implement. As can happen at Fuel Pumps or EV Chargers, car arrives, charger knows the car type, charging type, Reg Number or even the VIN, Registered Keeper, bill whoever. Pay per Mile. But then the UK still has no compulsory ID, easy swap Reg Plates, and the ANPR system and IT, Receptions for Communications, Phones, WIFI, Radio that can be crap. Then crap security of data...
  20. Not really common but I have come across filling stations with no kiosk (i.e. pay at pump only). I wouldn't be surprised if we end up with manned EV charging stations going forward to try and deter cable theft which appears to be quite an issue at the moment, particularly in the Midlands.
  21. I can't comment, except that I used to live on Benbecula, where both filling stations had pay "at pump" facilities, which were well used and appreciated by the locals.
  22. Thanks for the reply. I had it fitted at Halfords, and they did supposedly code it in. But driving a distance and much wheel turning hasn't cleard the errors 🥵 I am going to see my local guy with Vagcom tomorrow to see if he can fix it.

We have now sold the Fabia ,and my son has a different car now. Can we just thank the members who have helped us keep the car on the road. . If we get another Skoda ( I quite fancy the 4x4 petrol superb.) we I am sure be back in touch thanks again and look after yourselves
  24. 'Chain problems' apply to 105bhp Yetis, which are generally pre-2015 models. Later Yetis (110bhp) have cam belts. I bagged one of the last Yetis before production ceased with the intention of changing it for something else when the 5 year warranty ran out. But at 5 years I could find no other car that ticked as many of my boxes, so I hung on to it for another year. Same at 6 years. Same again at 7 years. And I'm fairly certain it will be the same again at 8 years. There are still a few nice, low mileage Yetis on the market but as you have discovered, the prices are high.
  25. Have you been able to confirm that your car battery is sufficiently charged, I haven't had a low battery in mine, but it's conceivable that it won't try at all rather than crank slowly?
  26. Yeah I see that list. Looks well out of date for my town. May contact further afield if I get issues. Battery coming tomorrow.
  27. While not absolutely essential if exact replacement, it is possible that the new battery may not charge correctly if faults have been recorded against the original. Battery adaptation is done via VCDS device or similar, there is a register on the forum of members who may be near you and able to do it at minimal cost.
  28. Do a compression test. Don't be surprised if cylinder 1 shows low compression. 6-valve single cam or 12-valve twin cam 1.2?
  29. Thanks! I've checked out ZoomEV and it might be worth the subscription if I used public chargers more. My Google shows that Eon give a year's free sub to ZoomEV, so one to remember if I change suppliers.
  30. Eon next gave me the first 2 25 kW. I will check who offered last night. EVfree I think. Edit. ZoomEV.
  31. Can you share or give a clue on how to find these promotions? I've never heard of Osprey giving 25kWh free!
  32. Today in the last 120 miles mostly BMW EV,s into and out of Glasgow. Lots of Merc,s. 2nd time getting 25 kW of a charge free. There was a site yesterday that offered the same with Osprey but you can only have one promotion running at a time. So I will sign up later.

Sounds reasonable to me, I just looked at Timmons as an example and that’s £231 for. So £300 guaranteed to work and genuine bits, much cheaper than losing your current one and being completely stuck
  34. I timed myself last week from the moment the wheels stopped moving to when they were turning again and it was 3 minutes 45 seconds for just over 60 litres. I generally work it in so I fill up when I'm actually passing a station but when I don't it's never more than 2-3 minutes diversion at worst. And using a fuel card I can fill up at any motorway services when out and about and pay a sensible price instead of the rip off standard prices meaning it's not necessary to divert far off route when on a longer journey either. On my regular trips to Germany I never stop more than once on the way (or way back) and it's always less than 10 minutes to fill up and go to the toilet which is all that's needed - around 350 miles from Calais. It generally takes us between 4 and 4 1/2 hours depending on traffic and how hard I feel like pushing it. A friend of mine in his Tesla did the exact same journey and took 8 hours. Anecdotally quite frequently when I've been with him at public chargers he often seems to have issues with getting anywhere near the advertised charging speed from the charger (30kw, 60kw from a 150kw seems to be fairly commonplace).

Hello, welcome to the forum. If the wheels and monitoring system are original, almost certain that TPMS will be indirect type (through ABS sensors)
  36. Thanks @ApertureS for the part numbers. It would seem I need to get 3V0 857 538C No Area View (KA0), with Blind Spot (7Y1).
  37. Area View = 360 view. It's the name for it in the UK, at least.
  38. Here is all wing mirror cover part numbers from 2015-2024 the pr codes on the right show what they are for KA0 is no cameras KA6 is areaview 7Y0 is without blind spot 7Y1 is with blind spot The 3VD part number is China market specific and although a lot of parts do fit, they’re mirrors must be different
  39. On the Yeti, the standard 16" tyre sizes (205/55R16 and 215/60R16) will fit a 6.5Jx16 ET50 rim without rubbing. You can tell this by referring to the below chart, where the standard 17" tyre size (225/50R17) has an actual width of 233mm when fitted to the standard 7Jx17 ET45 rim. Actual inflated width of tyre (measured from sidewall to sidewall, at widest point) 205/55R16 fitted to 6.5J rim 214mm 215/60R16 fitted to 6.5J rim 221mm 225/50R17 fitted to 7J rim 233mm 235/55R17 fitted to 7J rim 239mm (oversize tyre size) The owner of the below Yeti managed to fit 235/55R17 to his standard 7Jx17 ET45 rims, so the standard 225/50R17 isn't even close to rubbing. There's going to be even more clearance with the narrower 205/55R16 and 215/60R16 tyre sizes fitted to a 6.5Jx16 ET50 rim. Top photo 225/50R17, Bottom photo 235/55R17 (SCUDO 7Jx17 ET45 alloy rims) However, if you're looking for a much cheaper tyre size than 215/60R16...205/70R15 could be the answer. For example, the below Yokohama All-Terrain tyre costs 47% more in the 215/60R16 tyre size compared to the 205/70R15 tyre size. At 70dB noise rating, this 205/70R15 is also slightly quieter than the 71dB noise rating of the slightly wider 215/60R16 tyre. Bear in mind that the 1.2TSI Yeti has small 280x22mm front brake discs, so 15" rims will easily clear the front brake calipers. 40. My caravan took my 2litre ford diesel down from 60mpg to 34mpg but it had a 75litre tank so lancashire to Devon even just into Cornwall was possible. I had a diesel Seat leon that required fuel at Exeter So it's the size of the Tank that matters. Evs will turn out the same. Smaller but bigger capacity batteries? Maybe! But the ability to charge in 30 minutes with caravan attached will be more useful if the range can be got to 150 miles towing. 2 and a half hours towing normally needs a break anyway.
  41. Fair play to you man..... This level of perseverance and sheer man hours spent is truly remarkable.... And a great Read!
  42. We can supply and fit a genuine power tailgate for any car that offered it from the factory. The aftermarket kits are asking for headaches
  43. No problem. always happy to help. One last thing. to remove the blower fan it is extremely easy. just unplug the connector and twist the fan anti clockwise and it's off.
  44. Bit of a minefield for the uninitiated this charging at public charger malarkey, I couldn't imagine pulling up at a diesel pump and having to fill up to a point and then naffing off to another one to get a full tank.🤔
  45. My first thought was someone being sick in a toilet! So perhaps it's telling you to slow down. Ha.
  46. Sounds like one of the temperature flaps (there is more than one) is stuck - you really need a decent code scan (with e.g. VCDS or OBDeleven) to tell you which one.
  47. Hello, mate, i dropped you a PM, please message this number 07495738059 i’m extremely interested in this car mate. I live within half hour of you in the west midlands so can come down INSTANTLY. I’ll put a deposit down if it’s perfect condition once i’ve viewed just to confirm. Live in Oldbury mate.
  48. Finally got the reverse camera wired in the XTRONS one didn’t work for some reason, so brought one that has the number plate light in so a lot neater works perfectly straight away
