  1. I asked ChatGPT to make my vRS look a little sportier and it came up with these two versions. (Things you do when you have a free 5 minutes 😁)
  2. This is after the Green one. Still total guff. No mention VAQ diffs. DSG,s are not all at 40,000 miles, & 4 years not relevant. DQ200,s no Service, DQ381,s at 80,000. Or sooner obviously. Cambelt changed. (Here in prices, book for 2 days with a 1.5 TSI ACT.)
  3. Bought a scan tool (carista), looked at battery values which I suspect is source of my fault codes. Battery ordered from Tayna coming in a couple days. Will fit and code then fingers crossed no more faults....

AFAICS, there is no detriment to using long life oil on annual oil servicing plan - apart from (possibly) slightly increased cost of the product - long life oil will possibly be blended to a higher standard / or contains improved additives to allow for the longer service periods. Provided the oil complies with the required standard, it will be suitable.
  5. I had a Revo stage one on my 2015 Mk3 vRS TSI DSG (EA888 G3) and was very happy with it. Had it done at JKM in Portsmouth - who have a dyno. It took it to north of 300bhp (from 217bhp/220ps) and the performance difference was quite noticeable. Jim at JKM said to run it on Momentum 99, which it was in any case. Revo maps seem to polarise people, a lot saying they're quite aggressive. I get where they're coming from, but you do get used to it quite quickly, and moderate your right foot accordingly. Gaz

    ... and slightly lower emissions.
  7. After just 8 months and 5k miles in the hands of a Skoda employee my Superb had seen more than it's fair share of hand car washes, water blades and dirty sponges. One week after ownership it's time to put that right. Roof before Roof After Side before Sides after All Done
  8. Car had been with them on two previous RR days and was known to be in fine fettle, but they did do a software update while it was with them. No dyne done at the time of the remap - my fault as I neglected to book it at the time of booking the appointment. Gaz
  9. I’ve had quite a few VAG cars and I’ve always thought it was two hours, too. You can reset it, if you need to.
  10. Pretty sure mine's two hours.
  11. Picked up my 85 edition on Thursday. Few issues with sorting handover, but now I have my hands on the car, I’m super impressed. Anyone still waiting won’t be disappointed. I’ve been through a variety of cars over the years, often Audis. This is the most refined car I’ve driven. So clever, so many features and so comfortable. Often electric cars have shoddy legroom and high floorpan in the rear. My daughter always prefers our 8 year old Yeti to my new cars, but actually loves the rear of the Elroq. The driving assistance systems are very unobtrusive in my opinion. I’ve not felt the need to switch any off, despite living in countryside with narrow roads. I’m very happy with my purchase, despite not having seen the car before ordering!
  12. Welcome. Hopefully someone can help. Personally i would set it to 19*oC and leave it like that. The weathers hot is it not?
  13. Re the Merc. When i drove one exactly like that it felt like the BMW 1 Series i borrowed that was pretty like the car i think @Tilt has. 1st to 2nd gear away from junctions / stops was horrible.
  14. To be honest I've not come across any vehicle where you an remove the discs without removal of the caliper.
  15. Just for clarity. This thread is about a 1.2 TSI. The 1.0 TSI is a different kettle of fish, or an engine that some have messed up doing a fan belt on and ended up with wha tis more like a bag of nails.
  16. So they have 97 ron Min. showing on the pumps & they say they have the same additives in both unleaded,s they sell. Meaning that they can have 99 ron in their tanks at some locations. Just like Tesco Momentum 99 can exceed 99 ron if buying in from Refineries or Stock for the UK after Winter Grade Petrol is not distributed on Continental Europe or elsewhere. You might notice the difference on what you get where once you have the remap. The Winter Spec petrol is mostly stopped being distributed during March. 6ca06d648b9541e78fa838fece4a1a23 (1).pdf 388380a097b04fe693a8c27db8bb4974 (1).pdf
  17. Yeah Costco is E5, but it’s only 97.
  18. @cnc Thanks. Good to know that Tesco PLC has no financial interest now, not even in the new owners. Have they actually no financial involvement now?
  19. Greenergy is wholly owned by Trafigura https://www.trafigura.com/news-and-insights/press-releases/2024/trafigura-completes-acquisition-of-greenergy/
  20. I have no experience of using this company myself but have heard good reports from someone I know who has used them, they have a rolling road at their main site in Milton Keynes which they use for development work, used to be wholly owned by VW UK and now have dealers that sell and fit their products across the country. https://www.racingline.com/skoda-performance-tuning-modifications
  21. Very probably the spiral cable in the steeriing wheel. It connects horn, airbag etc. Its normally a flat cable thats coiled like a spring. Its normally the horn that goes first and then the airbag connection. You should be able to get a new cable or a complete unit. Make sure the battery is disconnected before removing wheel and airbag system. Alasdair
  22. Best go to a tuner with a dyno. If you want better performance and your car runs well now on the Plugs, Coils Air Filter Intake then running Tesco Momentum 99 or the likes is surely worth the under £3 a tank fill extra. If you see a 98 Ron Super Unleaded & the possible ps / Nm then i take it your are looking at some ready to upload map. E5 is the UK is 97 ron min or 99 ron Min. There has been no 98 ron min on sale for well over a decade.
  23. Apparently the sensor in the grille so I don't know if its sealed, but even so seems bizarre. We also have an 8 year old Octavia which has a similar sensor and has never had an issue.
  24. I retrofitted the TA steering wheel. TA works. Lane assist (SWA) is different from travel assist. It warns if there is an object approaching from behind or next to you. TA keeps the car in the lane. I have the 2Q0 camera.
  25. Many thanks I'll get them inspected, or I assume enough for me to do assuming I buy the correct spark plug tool.... only ever taken them out of a carb engine 😂😂
  26. If it is a Mk2 Fabia vRS 1.4 TSI Twincharger it matters not if spark plugs were changed 20,000 miles ago. Get them out and inspect them.. 1 might be burning the tip off. Pinned thread at top of page. and so many many threads on the spark plugs. You can not rule out the plugs unless all 4 were out and inspected. ? What age of car and how many miles / km done? EDIT. I see a 2014 so a CTHE. Important to put info like that in your post / question.
  27. There's nothing to stop you removing component protection on retrofitted modules :-) You'll need to manually configure the radars, SVM will not work due to them not being fitted at the factory. CP can be adapted, the gateway is the CP master not the BCM. BCM is immo master
  28. I'd suggest that isn't normal, sounds like a belt, but whatever it is I'd defo get it checked out

Not detrimental using long life oil on fixed service regimes. Just the oil is pretty crap. Take VW with a pinch of sodium. Like the detergents in fuels / oil, sodium. The non Long Life oil is lovely, Full synthetic. Perfect viscosity for the UK or much of Europe. Perfect even for higher temps and adverse weather / temperatures. As far as Emissions, really VW do not care about engines they produce that use engine oil like a 2 stroke.

Nail on head. Under Real World testing, not in real world driving conditions.
  31. Because you edited out the header, which is always done by people with a VCDS clone - so it looks suspicious.
  32. MIght be worth unplugging MAF and cleaning contacts and reconnecting. I had a Volvo 940 that had a problem with the MAF but after cleaning connections it was fine. In my case it wouldn't rev more than 1500rpm Was a very slow drive home in first gear Alasdair
  33. There is no sunroof. Dealer has now agreed to proceed with rejection. I am going to see another Superb tomorrow. Used approved this time!
  34. Some photos are already on my other thread but I may as well introduce the car in the main Picture thread. 2024 2.0TSi DSG L&K in petrol blue with a few options including 19" Vega Aero alloys, Massage Seats and Towbar.
  35. Get a bit of garden hose or similar and put one end to your ear and move the other end around engine bay. When the noise gets louder you have narrowed it down to a certain area. I had a weird rattle but it was the bearing in the aternator had gone and the fins were hitting the casing. Only happend when I revved it as the belt was pulling alt out of alignment. Alasdair
  36. I agree a decent body shop would be able to straighten it out as long as theres no chassis damage. Get a second hand bumper etc and repair it. Might be worth getting a few quotes to see how much including second hand bumper and paint etc. Alasdair
  37. Such a shame. Friend of mine got offered his 2011 estate Seat for £99 and a payout. Hopefully needs a wing and front bumper only. Never knew they did things this cheap. Maybe best to not allow anyone to take car away if you want to keep.
  38. Before you abandon her have a word with a local body shop. There's nothing structural at risk behind the dents so they may be able to pull it straight and make it up. The insurers should offer you a retention price to keep the car they would write off; seems to run from 1/3 to 1/4 of the write-off offer.
  39. How do cobwebs get into and effect a sealed unit?
  40. Nope, and my Kamiq is over 2 years old and my Karoq over 7 years.
  41. White is a great colour for the Sportline black trim items 😆
  42. I just log my charging versus miles from odometer, like I did for ICE. Basically I measure everything going into the car, so it includes costs for pre-heating, heating, data, app control, charging losses, heat losses etc. My miles per kWh is often lower than those claimed by others who just use the car stats. For instance I just reset my long term trip which was measuring winter consumption... according to that the car did 3.2 miles/kWh over 5400 miles.... my spreadsheet says its more like 2.7 based on kWh charged.

So after 8 years it's time to move on from the Superb. I know longer have the need for such a large car and also I'm intrigued to try the EV space so I've just bought a Megane E-tech. The Superb has been without doubt the finest car I have ever owned and I will really miss it. For the space, comfort, versatility, quality and running costs it is untouchable IMO. I always loved the engine, the 1.4tsi ACT is one of VAGs finer efforts, smooth, quick, frugal and reliable. The car has been 100% reliable, never failed to start, never let me down. Wear and tear items were exactly what you would expect, and parts where always affordable when sourced smartly. Now I bought mine when there was great value second hand, and new prices are now crackers, so the current Superb no longer offers the value with once did IMO. Thanks you to everyone here for all the advice and tips over the years, this is a great community and a goldmine of information. I won't be gone 100%, as my wife still has exactly the same car sitting in the driveway for a while yet. :-)
