My case has gotten picked up by the motor ombudsman last week so they’re reviewing it with my evidence pack now. I’ll share my claim update whether it’s good or bad once I get a decision made.

If you haven't seen loads of diesels 'broken down' by the roadside so far in your journey through France then I would not worry about it.

Cheers I hope so. I'd agree the BMWs seem over priced right now, I'm also not keen on their interiors. They've cut a few corners too many I think. I was avoiding hybrids as I'm not buying new or even nearly new I really want to avoid a dead hybrid battery or battery issues. Plus I want some old school motoring while it's still an option. I've had some approved used fun as well when making claims, a mini with battery issues when the warranty ad said literally "everything is included even the battery", then you make a battery claim and "ah well it's not always covered", ditto JLR when a tailgate issue becomes bodywork which isn't warranty covered. Was checking spec last night on the C43 and it is old enough to have the switchable sport exhaust option. So should burble nicely too.

So it does it at 90, or before it gets to 90? Because thos makes it sound like it doesn't happen if it is warmed up to 90? So how long before 90 does it run rough? Eg, when you first start or say 5 minutes after? Can you explain the sparodic problem? Why exactly did you change it? So are you saying every time between 80 and 90 it runs rough but you can still do 140 kmh no problem? I would avoid just changing parts without good reasoning because it will cost you alot and unlikely to fix much. Really need to do some diagnostic work. For example, next time it runs rough, try stopping and seeing if it idles or you can rev it freely in neutral? Try turning the engine off and restart and see if that helps? Does it blow black (or white) smoke when running rough?

My new 2026 Škoda Superb L&K was delivered with the driver’s seat looking like this (see attached photos). The wrinkle/crease on the seat base was already there when I picked up the car. I initially assumed it would disappear after a while, but it has remained exactly the same. A few details: Superb Mk4 L&K Cognac leather/leatherette interior (L&K Suite) Ergo Comfort seats Car is only a few weeks old The crease was present from day one It has not become worse, but it has not improved either I understand that leather is not always perfectly smooth, but I am wondering whether this amount of wrinkling on a brand-new seat is considered normal, or whether it could indicate that the upholstery was not tensioned correctly during manufacturing. For those of you with the same L&K seats: Did your seats look perfectly smooth when new? Have you seen similar wrinkles from delivery? Would you consider this within normal tolerances, or would you raise it as a warranty claim with the dealer?

Did you use a new pressure cap when you replaced the expansion vessel? - Ignore, I should have gone to specsavers! - I see you did.

I just read Mat Watson's review of the new MG S9. (PHEV) 'German quality, Chinese price.' I hope they are doing better than many products that there are from German Manufacturers these days.

If the car has been long enough in warm conditions since being built which it must have been then i would not accept that car with seats like that.

It's difficult to diagnose without reading the fault codes. My Octavia had the same message in the display caused by a faulty ABS sensor.

We have a DVSA centre in Inverness that I was told to go to years ago when stopped after failing an MOT. Did point out to police I was on my way home but they escorted me there. Normally for larger veihcles etc. If you have one nearby it might be worth taking car and any evidence there. Usually find when you can speak to a person rather than via email it helps. Another thought would be to get another MOT and see if the tester can put in the correct mileage if the system will let them. Have a Japanese import people carrier in KM and its always been written down in miles. I never bothered about it. Alasdair

The acceptability of the EU certificate is a bit of a gray area ... if new, you can "fight" your way with a zealant officer, but I decided, "for a fistful of euros", to remove that possibility entirely 😁 About the verification place, that one is in business since many years and is a renown name. The 2 kg fire extinguisher arrived and fits just fine in the right side storage compartment in the trunk, held with the factory belt. I can close the compartment and leave my trunk space free 😄 Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase. Since that FE model Gloria 2 kg P2GM isn't available in every country, for other guys wanting similar fit, look for a model with these dimensions: Height → 322 mm (you cannot go more than that!) You will get part numbers from LLL parts from there original manufacturer parts diagrams https://www.lllparts.co.uk/catalogs/skoda/CZ/FAB/797/2/260/260042 I think the above link is your car but better search in original parts diagrams with vin number to be sure. Number 13 , 6 or 21 Then you should be able to google part number and get a replacement. Have a look at the PR code sticker normally in boot near spare wheel or inside car book as there are quite a few slightly different ones depending I assume on engine etc. Also make sure the part number is exactly the same if ordering from Autodoc as I reckon there will be some for RHD and LHD cars. Apparently Skoda UK/VWFS cannot offer courtesy cars this is only available at discretion of dealer as we contracted direct we have no dealer!

I contacted Alcar and they said, "The rim 9021 is drilled with a 26mm ball bearing"...or at least that's the google translation of their German.

It only dips upwards, probably because you need to configure it to go down. Look for the setting procedure in the manual or online. AFAIK you have to put the mirror switch to the "R" position, select Reverse on the gearbox, and then adjust from the mirror knob how low you want it to tilt. Did you already go through this process? If you already did, try doing it again.

This issue has affected any/all versions of the EA211 family of engines since they were launched, but not very frequently - so VW Group, at least in Europe market territory, have walked away from this issue along with the "fuel rail bolt head snapping" issue. Everyone who is able to do so and has any of the engines from this family of engines, should be checking the camshaft bolts at service time, if only to avoid suffering from resulting problems from if/when these bolts slacken off. There will be signs of engine oil leaking out of that variable timing unit if the bolts are slackening off - there should never be any oil in that timing belt area of the engine if all is well.

If everything works for you with the installed steering wheel through the travel assistant button. Then set Point_of_intervention to late_setting_over_menu - Current. With these settings, the Travel assistant will work much more pleasantly. The car will still stay beautifully in the center of the lane. And the steering wheel will twitch less. Without the button with the adaptive lane maintainer (fake travel assistant) Point_of_intervention still remains -early. Have a nice day.

Only other thing that may be worth considering is that it's not hard to completely remove the door. Unplug electrics at A-pillar, undo checkstrap and two 13mm nuts - one at each hinge - and you can carefully lift the door off. That opens up the possibility of inverting the door to get help from gravity to move the glass. An assistant is very useful to take some of the weight of the door during removal and especially re-mounting it.

Plenty of time to pick one up once they’re gone - my dad traded his R32 and S3 for a 325i Touring when I was born. It was a good car, but never had the same poke - or so I’m told. I do know that the M340i/d are pretty expensive for what they are - indeed, bar the hybrid 330e, most of the 1/2/3 series are quite overpriced. IIRC dad paid just under £30k for his 1 Series, and it’s not even a hot one. My next car, if possible, would be an S4 - but they’re just impossible to find in TFSI guise. It’s the same for all the hot Volvo estates - I think it was a V60 or something - big dad wagon with 450bhp or similar. Going approved used is always nice. I was sold an approved car that had been in an accident, so a dealer isn’t gospel, but at least it gives you someone to shout at when things go wrong. I hope you enjoy it - they’re very well put together cars, and I personally think the 43 is a sweet spot… the 63 is just too much!

@nigelw I think it would be wiser to fix the missing cap (and moisture) issue first....

AFAIK, you're probably as well off using good quality fuel and ensuring as far as possible that DPF regens aren't interrupted.

Late reply,, but I am still curious, i know the SDi is pretty efficient, but do you have an approximate of how much did the fuel consumption increased after lifting it?
