  1. I passed this last week. I needed to fill up with fuel so decided to drive around for a bit until I got to this special milage. I wasn't clever enough to reset the trip at the right time.
  2. Well trip all done C43 in hand. I think we've been lucky again seems like the car we wished it would be. Good condition, comfortable, fast, big enough etc etc. The full antisocial exhaust option is lots of fun as well. Dealer warned me about mpg on test drive, and indeed on the test it got 14mpg. But on the long motorway run home at moderately sensible speeds I got approx 35mpg which I think is pretty good considering. Being less sensible giving it the beans with everything on Sport+ and the thing howls. Outright speed feels very similar to the 335d. It does seem to be a car that triggers middle aged men though.
  3. Going through obd11 on my car a 2 year and 2 month old diesel vRS with 64,000 miles. You can see how many times the starter has been activated. Manual starts on mine = 8860 Automatic starts ( start stop) = 13038 Total 21898! That’s an average of 27 starter activations a day! How does the poor little battery cope lol

I've just been through this very issue.. original 2015 battery, so I was pretty sure I'd need to replace it before next winter. I'd already decided I want to keep this car a good while, and I'd be mostly DIY (not had to pay for a battery change for over 30 years), so I invested in a genuine VCDS setup. I've seen a couple of folks on here say they paid GBP 250+ for a battery and coding, so having paid 225 for the vcds (basic, 3-vin version ) then just under a hundred pounds for a larger capacity battery (same size battery would have been a few quid cheaper) I feel ok. Easy to fill in the info for the battery change, then a few days later did the oil and filters change so could reset the service interval. Also easy.. plenty of advice and instruction online. Reckon I've pretty much broken even already. Mine was EFB, so stayed with that.. most advice seems to be that if you already have AGM then stay with that. It may be that someone local to you has the Unlimited VIN version of VCDS and might be up for coding a new battery for beer tokens or similar!
  5. Car has been in since the 25th, I have a courtesy car, just waiting for an update as they have been short staff etc. But with the massage seats in the 26 plate Sportline I am not sure I want my car back now haha
  6. Aluminum is not a good replacement, you need an increase in size and the terminals need to be checked regularly for tightness. It has been banned in UK regs because of these issues. I have seen extension leads still wound up, being used and they have burst into fire as a result.

10 year old battery is a good innings these days with stop/start tech, so yes, a new battery sounds a good idea. Best stick with AGM otherwise you will have to change the battery type coding.
  8. Just one pic for now. I've taken the bow off
  9. Needs a wash after the trip up tbh. The dealer was actually closing the site the day after I got the mb they had no valeters on site so the poor sales guy had to do it himself for the handover. He was a a proper MB petrol head as well, he was genuinely pleased his last sale for MB was going to be an AMG.

Hi RevChris, welcome the forum! I hope it’s only all good satnav feedback 😉🤣🤣
  11. If moving the wiring changes any reading it points to either a break or a bad connection somewhere. I would first clean any plugs/sockets and make sure they are secure and making good contact. If it still changes when moving wiring I would suspect a break in a wire somewhere. Alasdair
  12. Oh, so it would seem apparently. My info on that aspect was out of date.
  13. Sorry had an absolute nightmare so had to create a new account. I've tried replacing the sensor but somehow it seems like the sensors on inlet plenum/box somehow get damaged almost every time they get plugged in and taken out. The little bulb seems to disintegrate slightly and the wire inside gets exposed. Probably isn't helping. Though looks like it might be a wiring issue, when I have my reader plugged in looking at the intake air temperature it sits at -40 degrees. When I manipulate the wiring harness on the inlet plenum/box sensor the temperature changes on the reader. Does this sound like a wiring issue? Is that something that I'm able to resolve or this going to be a garage situation? Kind regards
  14. Aluminium is trivalent so requires much more electricity to separate from its ore, so its lower weight has to be offset against its higher energy requirement to separate.
  15. All of those systems require vehicle speed information, so I strongly suspect you have a problem with one (or more) ABS wheel sensors. Time for a scan with OBDeleven or VCDS or similar to determine which one.

If you're fitting the same type and capacity of battery all you have to do is change one digit of the serial number.
  17. Have a look at a Viofo A129 front and rear. The front fits up behind the mirror but I don’t think you can really hide the rear one but it’s about the size of a matchbox though
  18. I would be inclined to follow procedures previously suggested by others before contemplating walnut blasting. Get a VCDS scan for possible fault codes and more targeted fault analysis. Stick an inspection camera down the intake to look at the intake valves to see how bad, or not, they really are. I'd also do a simple compression test for possible rings wear or valve seat issues.
  19. The MK shopping centre is massive you’ll spend a fortune 😂😂
  20. Thanks a lot for the reply Lee I might treat my missies to a night away lol 😂
  21. Hi mate Found an amazing guy in Milton Keynes Supplied and fitted £1100 using only LUK clutch kit and that included full gearbox oil aswell His name is Lucian and if he knows it’s a taxi he’ll drop you into Milton Keynes shopping centre and pick you up 6 hours later Job done He’s got full 5* reviews 07400 082910 Tell him Lee the taxi driver recommended him
  22. MB command system is a dogs dinner though. Drove the whole way without knowing how to skip a track on Spotify. Still don't know if I have active cruise or not (need to read the spec sheet again). No touch screen but touchpad/wheel where the gear shift should be and two more little thumb sized touch pads on the steering wheel. Too easy to flick things by accident and till too hard to do things without taking your eyes off the road. But the nanny (speed warning bongs) and drunk toddler (lane keeping assistance) are nowhere to be found🥳 It's hard to describe why but the car feels Germanic, I think the actual driving experience is close to the BMW. Same solidity and weight to controls things. Feels familiar even though I've never had a MB before. Need to find some tunnels now...😈
  23. Aye it's 98RON first with a tolerance for 95
  24. I am getting 3.5 miles a kWh and am paying 55 pence a kWh. (50 kW DC charging) Getting 180 miles or so for £28. Local unleaded is £6.50 a gallon. 41 mpg would be 4.3 gallon and £28 . PS. Once home it is back to £3.50 for a full charge.
  25. Shocking is about the right word. Such a practical thing with the rear seat system. I regret not buying one now and staying with a Fabia.
  26. Mine was mk1 fabia vRS box to a MK2 1.6tdi fab You'd want to find a 6 speed petrol box for whatever petrol Ibiza/polo of the era. Bet an altea box would have different mounting points and wouldn't fit to the chassis without major reworking. Wheel speeds done by abs so no issue there Hubs/driveshafts fit fine It's basically a case of swap EVERYTHING over, flywheel/clutch, driveshafts and bolts for such etc. Really wasn't hugely difficult vs just changing a clutch. Most of my problems was fitting boost pipes over the new, much bigger gearbox. Ive got a braided clutch line from darkside, 5 speed one won't work and the 6 speed pipe was pretty poor. Shifters in the cabin are all the same, mine currently has a mk1 fabia sdi shifter box as it was in better shape than the original one in mine.
  27. I changed the sensor and all problems gone.
  28. Lee01 , Evolution13 and Tech1e Thanks for the responses Did some more investigating and 6 peed conversion would not be possible for a another reason , I had a 02m LSD fitted only compatible for the 5 speed box, an 02j-2 is 5 or 6 speed boxes. Now looking at swapping the engines , I had the timing chain changed on the Fabia at 85K , now at 135k whereas the Altea changed at 69k now 81k, fabia is a 84bhp, remapped to 122bhp whereas is a 103bhp, plan to use the fabia remapped ecu. Is this feasible
  29. Thank you for the suggestions. The trade in book value on my crv was £300, which I assume is just scrap price. I could probably get £900 private. I messaged the dealer about a 2017 2.0 tsi, but it was £9500 with 101k. Prices are mad and I just cant let my old girl go for 100's. The family won't let me sell it either so they said retract the offer! Gonna run it the CRV to the ground and perhaps have abother 1,2,10 years left of cheap motoring. There is a Superb in my future, but hopefully not for a few years.
  30. Just general comments really, I fussed about this when I had my 2000 VW Passat 4Motion and at that time, maybe round about 2005, the "AC bombs" seemed to have a long tube and that needed feeding into the air plenum box - but I didn't actually complete that task! By the time that I got round to re-visiting that task with later cars, all the "AC bombs" had done away with the long tube, and the plan was now to just start up the car with all windows closed, turn on the AC on recirc, place the bomb on the floor in the rear of the car, and set it off, close doors and leave the car for a certain length of time, then open the door, switch off the engine and remove the now empty bomb container - job complete. I've used that method but removed the pollen filer first then closed the pollen filter cover, and fitted a new Frecious pollen filter after running that AC bomb. Edit:- sorry that I didn't answer your question exactly, but in all these cars the AC evaporator is inside the cabin heater box, along with and beside, the heater matrix. So, that is a closed mainly plastic box and getting into that area in a way that allows full access to the evaporator - will be a very big job, so all you can try is to use one or two of these "AC bombs" and that should kill the bugs and most of the smell.
  31. A couple of things that my previous Superb could never do, is being able to put the AC on before you use the car and then being able to leave it on when you park up and go the shops. Don't sound much but "how nice" that was today.
  32. I can send you airbag wiring info for your car this evening if no-one else does first. I'm on the road for the next few hours.
  33. If it were mine, a VCDS scan would be the first thing I'd do. There may be fault codes in the engine ECU that would give clues. A CHPA-code engine, from the VIN, I see. Wonder if the cam adjusters are causing trouble?
  34. There’s around 25 of us in Canterbury running the same model All 2021 22 plate 3 done by Skoda ranging from £1700 upto 2k+ as needed
  35. Yes, my experience in the 4 months has been squeak, rattle etc free. We came from a French tin can EV (that came with free, included, demented chipmunks in the seats) so it was always going to be better. The answer from the dealer was I didn't know how to adjust the seat! But we have generally had Skodas for years and this one is as good as ever so far.
  36. This has happened to me so many times, sometimes it's missed only by where I am and nowhere to stop and I have to watch it click by helpless.
  37. It seems that rattling is caused by the vacuum oil pump until oil temperature reaches 60 degrees. Skoda declares it as a normal behavior caused by the engine construction. I found it's a common noise also experienced by the other owners of Skoda 2.0 TDI engine, you can find more details in this thread:
