No spike in revs when flooring throttle to induce any possible clutch slip

My 2017 Kodiaq 4x4 with a manual gearbox has just developed a transmission noise. It happens just after changing up through the higher gears at relatively low speed when I give it some throttle. It can also happen when not changing down in time and giving it some throttle on slight inclines. Sounds similar to brake pads rubbing the front disc after been led up during prolonged wet weather with surface rust on the disc. This sound very much appears to be coming from the gearbox area. I am only the 2nd owner and the car has been maintained by the supplying Skoda dealer up until late 2013 when I purchased with 70000 miles on it. Regular servicing with Haldex oil change at 39683 miles. Cambelt and water pump was changed in October 2022 at 62269 miles. I do have oil and filters changed at 10k intervals along with other routine items. Whether it is a coincidence or not several dash lights have come on in the past week relating to non functioning esp, hill start, start stop and park assistance all not working. I have been to a garage for this and was informed to take it to Skoda to have a 'software update' performed as they could not 'get into the system to check and clear issues'. Is it safe to drive without causing further damage and what is likely the issue (and fix). It has just recently turned 90000 miles. TIA to responses.

10EUR CVBS camera from Ali Overall, it's pretty straightforward. Run the camera power wire to terminal 15 at the fuse box, video wire to MIB and then repin six wires at the quadlock connector via module.

One small project done - front parking camera with automatic swtich front/rear based on gear selected. I used a Chinese camera because there's no practical way to reuse the original one. So far, nobody has figured out how to disable the image mirroring. The video switching is handled by a module that I developed.

This was clocked on the last MOT (Sept 2025) and listed under Minor Defects. Got it back to the same garage today to have it done as I didn't fancy the job myself after watching a few Youtube videos. The bill was £102, which I thought was reasonable and happy that it's done now and one less thing to worry about. Hope the price helps others to decide what to do.

2.0tdi dsg dq250 The clutch and mechatronics was changed at skoda authorised service centre, initially it was fine, I have done close to 900km, recently had to drive in stop and go traffic conditions and now i can feel the jerks and clunky sounds at times. When I asked the dealer whether there was a chance that changing shocks could resolve the issue, he said it might do for a few weeks but without a new and different part it would probably return. All the can suggest is wait for Skoda to rectify. They have their hands tied behind their back really by Skoda. Rubbish isn't it.

If someone has problems getting valid input from the EEPROM chip via the clamper, as @bigwhale42 mentioned, you need to try using a 1.8V adapter, it worked great for me, since I had a lot of stability issues on input from the clamper when using the 3.3V. With the 1.8V adapter it worked flawlessly. To avoid bricking the device, always make sure to check 4 or 5 times reading the EEPROM and check the CRC32 before getting your backup. Then another sanity check is the MEN2SwingPatch.py output for device numbers, for example: Train: MEN2_EU_SEGPx_P8010L FAZIT: WG8-LGM20.03.1900010083 VCRN: D0478DEFB4 I also needed to factory reset Full Link for Carplay to appear (only Android Auto was visible), as @Zlatko580 mentioned. Guys, also congratulations to everyone contributing to this solution it worked great and it was a very enjoyable "project" for people in electrical or computer engineering. Special thanks to the people that managed to reverse engineer the memory seems kinda crazy to me, even with some experience on embedded systems security.

Personally, I'd rather have more sedate progress but longer range in an EV.

Just been chatting to my mate and we are going to bypass the egr cooler first, this is because the condition got a lot worse after we fitted that so there is a chance that its a bad new part, so to avoid taking the head off without proper diag this seems like a sensible approach. If its still doing it then we have confirmed its not the egr cooler and can move on to the HG.

Thats what I reckon, so back to my mates shed to take the head off and see whats going on. Worst case a new engine, if the blocks cracked, best case just a new HG! Based on how its gone so far I feel like it'll be a new engine... so might just throw a Golf R engine it it.

Reckon so.When you replaced leaking egr cooler the HG may have already gone and with curing one leak its added pressure to another. HG off is probably the only way to make sure. Cant think of any other way exhaust gases are getting in. Alasdair

Skoda's fastest accelerating production car available to the general public from dealers is the Elroq vRS. Lovely if everything has been fully sorted on these. A 10 year no quibble warranty on the complete vehicle would be 'simply clever'.

Oh dear... There you go again... On about sheer speed off the line in a childlike 'mines bigger than youts' way. Driving enjoyment for most people who enjoy driving is about more than just speed off the line and 0-60. Which is largely irrelevant, albeit fun for a few goes.

Can I get some recommendations for LCAs and preferably part numbers? No-one seems to be able to confirm that they fit the Superb 3V AWD. I thought this TRC1070 was the right one, but apparently not. According to AwesomeGTI, this TRC1071 is correct, but not according to the Superpro website. The single worst aspect of ownership of these cars is trying to work out which supplier knows their arse from their elbow when it comes to supplying or selling the parts that they make.

70k on a 10year old diesel is not enough mileage for the emissions systems to be happy. I’d lay money that the egr valve is sticking open, probably clogged with soot from hundreds of short journeys over the last decade.

Been a little while as I’ve been out of the country. I’ve replaced the thermostat with an original VAG one and I now have coolant flow through the main radiator, also replaced the charge cooler as it was off to do the thermostat anyway. My mates been driving it about while I’ve been away and so far so good, although no long journeys to really test it. Next up is a long drive (90mins) and see if the coolant now stays inside the coolant system. Should also add the expansion tank I got from NAPA leaked anyway so not sure that was a valuable diagnostic asset.

It was always serviced by main Skoda agent around 30000 up until late 2023. Maybe I should get this Haldex service done now and see if it improves things.

Hills ? I thought EVs are suppose to be so heavy that would affect their hill climbing. EVs are just so much quicker off the mark as their torque is at a nidge over tickover spinning revs whereas with an ICE car it is going to be mid or upper rev range. The ICE car loses even before the first 20m usually. Noise is wasted power. Fine for a 4 year old child going brmm, brmm but must start to feel embarrassing when you have a crescendo of noise but keep coming second ie "first last". I am reminded off poor off the mark of ICE cars many a day. Off to the pub Saturday night, Corsa draws up on my outside with us in the 5. My five is the Evolution model ie only 120 hp but what it has got is instant torque like all EVs. Race to the left turn almost over within the first second. Corsa might have been a 1.2 turbo ICE but no match for just about any EV off the line. Loud exhaust does not help but only gives the ICE driver more theatre not noticeably better acceleration, tailpipe between legs, again.

I was able to use vcds so it’s not an sfd2 issue I don’t think. As in you don’t need to go through that security to read and clear the code. But my eBay special odb2 reader didn’t communicate with the car.

Hi, My Mk3 superb had a noise similar to what you describe when sat on the motorway at about 65 - 70, like a buzzing noise I could swear was coming from the B pillar right next to the drivers right ear. After I stripped the B Pillar down thinkning it was something in the seatbelt etc I learnt that these noises can travel a long way through the car and it might not be coming from where you think. My issue was a fuel pipe which passes through a box section under the drivers side floor and resonates at certain speeds, VW have a service bulletin for it as it affected the Golfs as well SB-10069579-2280. There fix looks like basically rubber isolators stuffed into the box sections so the pipe doesn't touch the sides of the box section. I would presume this has been resolved on the MK4 but I'll mention it just in case it helps. If the fuel pipe isn't secured in the box section it can touch the sides. My fix was to pass cable ties in through the holes in the box section at a few intervals and hook around the fuel pipe so they tie it the bottom of the box section so it can't resonate and rattle around, it's been fine since 2022 now. The run in the previous post was painless but soon after my post I suffered really bad right foot pains and could barely put my weight on it. Took time off work, some anti-inflammatories, rested for a couple of days and then started some calf raises on the stairs when it felt better. Pain dropped very quickly and I could resume walking and back to work. Things felt really much better today and went for a 4km run. Don't know why but I had the quickest speed I've run in months. So far no adverse reactions either 🤞.

I was going to have first downpipe fitted last year in Austria and the bloke couldn't fit it cos he said that they are different for LHD cars. He showed me it and the one he got was straight not bend at the turbo end if that makes sense....

OT but the Haldex Servicing is scheduled as @ 30,000 miles / 3 years or sooner.

I would highly recommend “Quicksilver 2-4-C marine grease”. The only grease I use on my boat and for trailer bearings - after trying many brands/ types years ago. It will stick well, remain flexible and repel water on the towball pivots, maybe a little messy putting on by hand as theres no spray can version.

Clear codes and If all your tyres are correct pressure reset TPMS and if they return it points to a failing ABS sensor or dirt between sensor and ring or damaged wiring etc. With VCDS I believe its possible to track down the exact wheel sensor thats causing problem. Not sure with OBDeleven. Daughter has same on her Volvo due to failing wheel bearing but its puting up ABS warning as well. Alasdair

Hello all, Life has been a bit up/down recently and our circumstances changed, so a replacement car was purchased for our previous 2020 Golf MK7.5. My husband Chris decided that he wanted another MK3 Octavia, so we hit the classifieds and eventually found what looked like a clean MK3 2015 Elegance TDI 2.0 4x4. It's in Blue Pacific (quite a rare colour) and has covered 118000 miles (that's the TDI just worn in by my books). It's been given the name Blu. I won't go into the purchasing experience...let's just say that a lot of these MK3's are now in the backstreet sellers lots and these sellers are quite an unscrupulous bunch. This one was located in Leeds, so we took a 4hr trip to go see it. It's a good car....tyres a little worn, but everything else is rock solid. Having stood in the backstreets of northern Leeds for many weeks/months, it then did a 200 mile trip back home and didn't miss a beat. My husband is thrilled to bits with it as it will be used as a project car as well as a reliable everyday workhorse. We will do the servicing on it, get new rubber on it and gradually improve it over the coming months / years. So far.... we've had to change out the battery - the factory OE battery having died at 53% capacity. The only problem I've got (all other fault cleared post battery change) is the High Beam Assist. Described at We have the dreaded b1168f2 fault - Control Module Faulty. Getting to it is the easy part (behind the mirror) but it's the module itself. Seems it's quite a known weakness/failure point on this generation of VAG cars (i.e.similar faults exist on Golf's, Leon's and Passats of this age). Lots of talk of the replacement modules (even brand new ones from Skoda) going faulty, so there is a problem with the electronics of the module. As I hate running cars with fault codes in them, I would really value everyone's views on how to fix this module (for good) and ideally a fix of the existing module would be fabulous.

So, here we are back to square one. Didnt even need to do a long drive and the wheel arch and area around the coolant bottle is soaking wet with coolant. Going to start with diag again and do a sniff test. It ahs to be combustion gasses in the coolant.
