  1. Hardly surprising seeing as Skoda don't make windscreens themselves, the 'aftermarket' windscreens will be made by the same companies that supply Skoda OEM windscreens, but with a different badge on them, and probably somewhat cheaper - that Skoda logo costs a lot of money!
  2. Another wee one for the mighty Ford a week to the day after passing MOT and actually being used for commute due to a road closure and taking the back road battering.
  3. This is very specific but there may be something in here that helps someone else with the same problem, or parts of it. Setup: Octopus Energy Hypervolt Home 3 Pro charger, installed by Octopus Fox ESS Solar and house batteries (20kw), with Emergency Power Supply (EPS) to run the house in case of a power cut Skoda Enyaq 85x Sportline Solution for a successful overnight charge: Octopus app: recognises the car, but its smart charging is set to off. Stops it confusing the Hypervolt: Set to "plug and charge" on the Super Eco mode which uses surplus solar power, but is manually switched to scheduled charging in Boost Mode in the small hours if the car needs a charge. Fox ESS: Mode Scheduler set to Force Charge the house batteries from the grid at 500 watts per hour at the same schedule as the Hypervolt. This stops the Hypervolt draining the house batteries to charge the Skoda: charging location set to home (otherwise it won't charge at all), charging method set to "charge immediately" with no schedules set in it. This lets the Hypervolt do the work. It took a few days to work this out, but I got there in the end. For anyone who's interested, there's a more detailed write-up on my personal blog.
  4. So, there is a very commonly known fault that essentially bricks the memory profiles while leaving all the manual controls alone. This is shown to leave persistent faults for all the axis that failed to norm/standardize, usually the lumbar support up/down and in/out. Well, as it turns out, i found out that through long coding i can tell the module that lumbar support is not installed and all the related faults will clear. THIS WILL MAKE THE LUMBAR SUPPORT STOP WORKING SO MAKE SURE TO LEAVE IT WHERE YOU WANT IT FOR THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE. I'll make further tries later on to complete standardization/norming on these axes but for now i'm convinced it just ain't happening without a new module Fiest open vcds, select the seat memory module, enter long coding and accept experimental coding information Next, skip to byte 18 and 19 and untick "ldw/ldh_motor_installed" for each. Confirm and write the new long code. You should instantly hear a bong from the instrument cluster and you can set new presets by pressing "set", release then press any number. Personalization through kessy matching should also work now To gain back lumbar support controls, enable both again (and lose memory features)
  5. This sounds like scaremongering. With normal use you will have slightly more wear on different tyres unless you religously swap wheels round very regularly. Yes it can be dangerous if one tyre on an axle is brand new and the other only has 2mm. i.e. above wear limit. New tyres should ideally be on the REAR axle as this axle looses grip first in extreme situations - hard breaking on wet surface or hard cornering. If I have a nail in the tyre and it cannot be patched it is not recommended to replace all 4 tyres if the others still have e.g. 4mm. You can do this of course if you want to spend £600 to £1000 for quality tyres. Chinese ditch finders may be cheaper. The Karoq 4x4 is not a performance car and can easily handle one new tyre as long as the others are still fine.
  6. Thanks @Athrx I managed to solve this issue thanks to you and your brillant analysis. I have to add one point though: in order for this to work, make sure to delete error codes in this module before disabling lumbar controls.
  7. Pete thx again My kit is so basic that I've just ordered a screwdriver type tester....lol. I'll deffo get back to you Thx Tom
  8. The reason for not mixing wheel sizes (E.g.) space-saver) is because there can be a differential issue if the rolling circumference is different by more than a certain amount on the drive axle.
  9. Im thinking cross climate 3s when I comes closer to winter. Hopefully get some near back friday
  10. That is high oil usage. Maybe check that the crankcase emissions "stuff" on top of the engine are working okay - is there a high vacuum when you remove the oil filler cap?
  11. I had a similar issue when a Superb L&K I was buying needed a replacement windscreen and the non-main dealer replaced it with a Fuyao. It was the middle of summer and I was led to believe by the dealer that a non-heated screen had been fitted. An appointment was arranged to have a heated screen fitted by AutoWindscreen. On arriving at their depot they put some heat sensitive film on the windscreen to check as they believed it was heated. Long story short the film showed up on their equipment as taking heat from the screen. The fitter moved it around the screen showing me and there was a heated replacement fitted. If I were you I would take the car back to where the screen was fitted and get them to put the same on your screen and show you - it will take minutes and you’ll see the results. I will say the Fuyao screen was perfect until it got hit by a stone and then AutoWindscreens fitted a Skoda windscreen - £90 excess for glass on my insurance covered that.

Probably needs a scan to see if any fault codes have been logged. Could be something to do with the ABS/ traction control system though.
  13. First replacement was just fine, no issues with the ADAS. The only problem was that the first screen sent was the wrong one - fortunately they hadn't removed the old screen - and then the correct one didn't show up when expected.
  14. This is now all working and fixed. Managed to find a second hand part and just ended up replacing the whole motor! Smooth at butter following a battery disconnect and a comfort settings reset! Many thanks for all the support!
  15. What does the error memory say?
  16. Hi everyone, Greetings from Serbia. I've recently become the owner of a 2025 Octavia IV Combi 2.0 TDI 150 DSG, and I'm glad to join the community. I'm fairly hands-on with my cars and enjoy getting into the technical side of things. Looking forward to sharing experiences and learning from you all. Cheers!
  17. I bought my Octavia from Mons Skoda in Bristol and was not impressed by the sales side. I have it (and the previous Passat) serviced by them in Weston s Mare and am happy with the service.
  18. Yes a few times, not the same setup and I don't know if the VW and Skoda software are the same. The last time after an update was something incredibly stupid. The "Automatically unlock charger" option was switched from "No" back to "Yes" by the update. What that meant was that when the smart charging finished a session (which might only be a few minutes) the car unlocked the charger and it wouldn't start charging again until the charger was removed and reseated. So we were only getting minutes of charge a night. Been fine again with that off. Previously was the VW software going to sleep and not waking up for smart charging. We found that unpairing the car from the Octopus app and charger app helped. The VW software is unreliable so better to leave it set to take charge charge anytime and leave the sequencing to the charger.

I didn't end up doing it in the end. Was a pain to find a second hand oem towbar for hatch, so I've abandoned the ideea
  20. Hey! wadda ya doing with that hammer? 🤣
  21. Would be interested to know how the ADAS calibration and the like went. I’m hoping I get a crack in mine soon - it’s scratched to hell.
  22. In this case I will probably charge to 90% which should be enough, and not a problem since I'll be charging anyway and have already reached my destination. But there have been cases on previous trips where I've had to make an extra stop to fill up, just to ensure I arrive with over 30%.
  23. I decided to leave the hand brake cable alone, but did reattach the caliper as you say.
  24. Quite possibly not original - I'd not expect to see an Audi logo on OEM Fabia calipers.
  25. I actually don't think that's correct - it's more a case of catering and protecting the lowest common denominator - namely kids or those eligible for Darwin Awards that would pull the plug and stick their tongue on it to see if it was working (and lets face it there are A LOT of those sorts of idiots around. And this ^^ is the solution to the aforementioned issue - it's easy to do by simple replacement of an existing 3-pin outlet with a bespoke socket on each ring main and a corresponding shielded and fused plug on the inverter - just as we have on EVs. Cost would be minimal, as per the cost of a replacement 3-pin outlet (a couple of quid these days), and it resolves the issues of potential electrocution in the event of the plug being removed with the inverter still 'live'. I really don't see what the issue is and why this cannot be incorporated into any legislation that comes forward allowing plug in solar to be made legal - it's not rocket science just common sense (but then a lot of politicians and others wanting it allowed clearly don't have that!).
  26. Sorry meant to highlight digital Is that not the oil temp....no reason they need to be the same.... Also, most water temp guages are "damped" to stop them fluctuating and making owners sacred
  27. So, in the end, it turns out that the rectangular frame directly around the two round reading light lenses (and the two tiny cat eyes) does, quite easily, come out, without having to remove the whole panel. I started just outside of either cat eye, and the plastic clip there easily opened; then did the other; then the whole rectangular frame comes out easily. The original halogen bulbs are W5W, like the ones in the cargo area light assemblies; these simply pull straight out. (Not that I figured that out right at first; it looked like they might rotate. So I rotated them. Which rotated their entire socket. Right out of its rotate-to-clip-into-place, well, place. Which meant that I had to finagle the half-a-gram-if-that plastic socket back into the right 3D orientation above the lightbulb hole, and use a small pliers to grab a little metal tab to allow me to pull it back down through the hole, and rotate it back into locked position 🙄). The same "Astur" bulbs that I used for the cargo area lights work fine in the centre overhead console, too (polarity: + side of both bulbs faces towards the left/driver's seat on my car). And, as with the KATUR bulbs that I put in the over-door lights for the rear passenger seats, these DO dim down like the original halogen bulbs did. I also cleaned a small, dead bug off of the inside of one of the two front reading light lenses.... 🦟

The "lipstick " holder, I think is the screen cleaner for the infotainment screen.

The 2 l-shaped pieces are used to secure any loose boxes in the boot. Place them at opposite corners of the box, the Velcro will stick to the fabric of the boot liner and hold the box in place. No idea what the lipstick holder is. Can you post a picture of it?
  30. I was feeling a bit tired after a Coastguard volunteer duty this weekend so I decided to drive the RS to the motorcycle meetup for lunch rather than ride the motorcycle. I took my own route but included some of the twisty roads I like riding on and boy the RS is still a very fine drivers car given how otherwise practical it is. In Sport mode with ESC sport selected it was fabulous and the combination of strong torque, VAQ diff and that revvy 4.5 engine tune made for swift entertaining progress but never at a speed that was getting ridiculous or anti social. I do think that, probably because the car is relatively light, 265hp seems about right for the road. Punchy enough to feel brisk but not so fast that you end up at license loosing speeds in seconds or with performance you can never access. The ESC sport just helps quell understeer and even allows a bit of rotation which you can settle instantly by applying throttle. Very satisfying. Put back into comfort mode on the motorway back home and turn the stereo on I was all smiles. What a great, great car.
  31. Before I start, a huge thank you for all the information, I hope you don't mind a VW 2020 MK8 Golf owner interfering in your activities but this thread was the only I could find with considerable knowledge on this subject. For any UK owners following, I messaged Phonostar in German and had a very productive conversation with one of the team and they'll be adding Hits Radio UK and Greatest Hits Radio UK logos to the database (I fully understand there's multiple regional variations of Hits and GHR and possible logos) they'll also be addressing the Kiss FM logo change in a future update. I also noticed on my update I had to manually add some logos such as Capital UK and Capital London though the managing logos area, but I'm sure that's been mentioned. Thanks again, and we'll see what happens.
  32. I don’t generally use it. The only reason I checked it was because of the speed limit warnings I was getting and the fact that the travel assist was showing the wrong layout on the motorway. everything seems to be working again ok for now

Hi, We got to the bottom of it and have now parted company with the car, I was annoyed when the heater fan packed up and now with the latest issue I lost confidence in the car, we have owned new cars since 1996 and this is the only car that we have had any issues arise, we have gone with a Japanese maker as our previous Toyota Yaris we owned from new for 10 years without any issues and it was passed on to a family member when the Fabia was delivered and is still going strong at 14 years old ! Our previous Skoda’s were brilliant but this one unfortunately was 👎 I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has given advice in the past and wish you all happy motoring 👍Scotty68
