  1. My Flabio has been out on loan and just got it back, oil as it was 1,200 miles ago so no drop. (ASDA 5w 40 Full Synthetic @ £20 for 5 litres is lovely stuff.) so washed and polished, checked pressures to be sure the heavy air is still in all the tyres, fresh new air filter in, even though it was not needed, i had 25 litres of 102 ron petrol sitting in an opened can so that in the tank now to use it up. Just had a wee blast before having a bit of a run tonight when it is nice and cool and the roads are maybe dry.

  2. Had a look at some of the video footage... it seems as if I'm doing roughly between 1.00 and 1.05, the slower ones due to having to lift or being held up. Pushed too hard at one point.

  5. I'm 99% sure the rears leak more because more water is directed onto the rear carriers by an unfortunate design 'coincidence'. The vertical trim/divider at the front edge of the rear quarter light / back edge of movable window, extends downwards into the door a little bit, which you can see if you take the carrier right off. Unfortunately I don't have a useful photo from the right angle to show this. Water that runs in past the outer seal next to that divider will run down to the end of that trim piece, and then drip off into the middle of the door. Normally this would be fine, as there are drain holes at the bottom for it to harmlessly find its way out through. But in this case, right underneath the end of that trim is a plastic bracket, which connects the door lock to the carrier plate. This guides those drips onto the back of the carrier, instead of allowing them to drip straight down to the drain holes. Bracket, rear of carrier where it attaches, and giveaway watermark evidence here: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/248766-1j4-839-768-door-lock-retaining-bracket/ Sorry, posting from a tablet, which defeats my ability to put those pics straight into this post. Edit: Here they are: Borrowing one of hutchy's pics (cheers mate ), you can see how that vertical divider bit between the glass panes is 'nicely' aligned above the bracket:

  8. Tip given to me by a senior traffic officer: Place an unusual or obviously recognisable item, such as a sticker, on the front and rear of the vehicle. You can then prove whether it is your vehicle or not.

  15. Hi I have used most of the range & it is very good & gives great results. The Z2 is a great sealant (it says polish on the bottle, bloody Yanks lol). You can multi layer it straight away if you use the ZFX accelerator kit. The Z6 is a great QD, it often wins awards. The Z8 can be used over the Z2 to add a little more gloss & it makes the panel very slick after use. Happy spending/detailing

  19. Well about 5 months ago I said good bye to a friend.......does anyone else miss their Citigo? As some many know I swapped my Citigo "Buck" for my current car a Octavia mk3 vRS. And as much as the Octavia is an amazing car, and better in so many ways to "Buck", I miss the little blighter!! Yes he was small, under powered and basic.........but he had charm by the bag loads and a plucky character! He was so much fun and had to be worked to get progress. Unlike the Octavia which is just too fast to get the same sort of smile! Buck.......I hope you bring you new owner as much fun as you brought me

  20. Not near your best tank to tank figure yet as only on my fourth fuel up as to get the above figure needs an uninterrupted run with limited in town driving. In saying that, it warms up within say five minutes, ACT won't kick on during the first few minutes running but thereafter it's away. Still learning how best to use it. At low revs in high gear ACT won't kick in presumably because engine will become unacceptably lumpy, so dropping a cog to maintain a higher engine speed will induce ACT and return a lower fuel consumption. It really is an excellent powertrain and I'm happy with choice of a manual despite coming from an auto. For most of the time there is more than sufficient power, sure you can't do spur of the moment overtakes in the way that you can do with a torquey diesel or 200bhp+ petrol turbo, but to me it seems a less stressful way to travel and more involving as you have to plan ahead that bit more. Highly recommended!

  22. L Exactly this ^^^ The products are only as good as the prep. And to be fair, you could buy Life Shine off Amazon/eBay for £20 and do as good a job yourself. Likewise, you could put the most expensive ceramic coating on an unprepared car and it wouldn't bond and would last a quarter of the time it should. Your £300 would be well spent with a detailer! Hope this helps buddy.

  25. Assuming the £300 budget - if i were you, i would get some quotes from local detailers to protect your investment. Recently had this with a work colleague.... Audi wanted £400 for 2.5 HOURS work to apply this type treatment. Instead - we got prices from some local detailers.... the same £400 got a 2.5 DAYS detail with ceramic coatings etc. The key being that a fully trained and professional detailer with prepare the paint/car etc before applying product.

  26. I had the best day I've had ever on a track and was really surprised by the lack of incidents and track closure. Can't wait to get back out there again. Thanks for doing your bit Richard and I'm glad I got a few pics for people to enjoy whilst waiting for the car to cool down.

  29. I can't understand how rational thinking people would voluntarily cede power to an un-elected group of corrupt officials to dictate our laws. If we are given the opportunity to separate our selves from this FIFA like power structure we should grab it with both hands and "do one". Trade and Jobs are always touted as the pro's to europe. There is absolutely no reason that we couldn't offset any loss in trade or skilled jobs with other countries outside the EU and there is absolutley no evidence to suggest they will stop trading with us. They need us far more than we need them. We just need to get the Common Market establish free trade agreements its not hard. Europe is a sinking ship i'd rather not be in it when it goes down.

  42. I really shouldnt worry too much TBH. Six months later (really a matter of weeks) it'll be an old plate anyway and it'll make little or no difference to its residuals. Personally Id rather take the car early and ensure it doesnt pick up any knocks/bangs/scratches in the showroom or compound as thats arguably worse.

  44. Just going back to the original topic, What other car can be bought for £1500, spend £1000 and get gains from 130bhp -190bhp, so what car can be bought for £2500, that gives just under 200bhp, has 5 doors (family friendly) and returns 40- 50 mpg, and is small enough to be fun!

  45. Well finally managed to get this fixed. As timbox alluded it was all about address field mapping me thinks. My phone is Moto G android v5.1 and my contacts are Google Mail contacts. What I found I had to do was re edit the address fields of my contacts in Windows 10 PC which allows you to use a template to enter all the address fields into individual boxes for Street, town ,Post code etc and then save them again. This will map the fields into a format that the Amundsen Sat Nav will recognize. Seems to work on most of my contacts, other than a few that have oddball addresses. So I am fairly happy. One thing to watch tho is that if you edit a contact on your phone it will undo the field mapping and screw that contact up and you will need to redo it in Windows.

  48. Hi Newbies This part of the forum is basically just for saying hello... and you can let us a know a bit about yourself and your car if you so wish. If you have a specific query, we would be grateful if you could post it in the relevant section… For example, you need advice on a battery for your Octavia?... then post it in the Octavia mk1, mk2 or mk3 section…whichever model applies to yours. You want to know what polish is best for your car's colour?… then post in the Styling and Car Care section etc etc... I promise you will get more views/replies that way, and also save us Mods a job moving it for you One final tip… If you need to know the answer to a question, chances are its been asked before, so try the search bar in the top right of the screen (Sometimes best to use general terms rather than be too specific for better results) Thanks, and Welcome to Briskoda
