  2. Got back from a trip to Denmark last week and through Germany saw a lot more MKIIIs than you would see in the UK, they seem very popular in Germany, but alas they were all grey, or shades of. What's wrong with a bright colour in dull UK skies? surely better than grey that just matches the gloominess! Why can't we have the colours?

  4. Just to wrap this thread up. Autoglass came and fitted a genuine Skoda screen to the car yesterday. The rear view mirror no longer vibrates, the ticket holder is now in contact with the screen, the VIN is properly lined-up, the gaps between the screen and the A-pillar are even and there is no visible glue around the edges. There were no fault codes to clear and the lane assist (without being calibrated) works just fine. Moral of the story, if you need a new windscreen on a car with Lane Assist: - Insist on a genuine screen. - Don't necessarily believe them when they say it has to be calibrated. I'm now happy that the next person to own the car will get it in the same condition I'd expect a used car to be in.

  9. Hi Guys, Rather than leave this hanging I thought I should let you know Group Sales Manager of the dealers no less emailed me yesterday to say fix done, block has been removed and Sportline is being delivered Friday afternoon. I will let you know if signal booster has been removed with a lump hammer. Right my negativity is stopping here. I hope I will be contributing in a positive way to the forum in the coming weeks. Thank you all for the information, support, help and advice. It has genuinely been appreciated

  11. Why don't they all just leave well enough alone? Mistake or not, you guys made your choice. Besides, there is nothing in the charter that says you cannot rejoin later on if you think it doesn't work out for you. You know what grinds me gears though? Hearing so many folks **** and moan about the evil EU. WTF do people expect? Everyone. UK, Germany, France ... EVERYONE sent literally their ****tiest politicians to the EU just to get rid of the problem children since no one in Europe really took it serious. So these jackass guys and gals start pumping out ridiculous regulations after ridiculous regulations. Filling the ranks with their corrupt buddies and giving out sweetheart deals to their families companies. Still.. we send our worst there. Then, suddenly, everyone is like hey... WTF is going on in Brussels? These guys are nuts. Problem of our own making. I personally do not like the idea of the EU. Giving up your sovereignty to a bunch of corrupted un-elected ass-hats. An economic union with a common framework and level field makes sense. United states of Europe? This doesn't make sense in my opinion. The people from country to country are just too different. No common language does not help either.

  12. Clearly some dealers are better than others. The process from first ordering right through to delivery really is quite straightforward and detailed by codes at the various stages, each such code being readily accessible by a dealer, and hopefully is conveyed to you as the customer to keep you informed. Thus: Code 00 = Order sent from Dealer to SUK, accepted and registered with Škoda CZ Code10 = Factory Ordered – Production Week Unconfirmed Code 20 = Production Week Confirmed Code 30 = Vehicle Built & In Transit from Factory to Port – usually Emden Code 40 = Vehicle on Ship Code 50 = Arrived at UK Port of Entry Code 60 = Vehicle awaiting/being transported to Dealer Code 70 = Vehicle arrived at Dealer

  15. Think the Skoda engine replacement comes with an unstamp engine number. The Dealer doing the replacement MastervTech should make sure the new engine block is stamp with the original engine meaning the V5C document stays the same but your vehicle Skoda CS UK should hold in record the engine renewal . This has come up several times as in the Pin Thread on Briskoda. The oracle George will see your thread and confirm or put right my above explanation.

  16. @JamiePvrs The F1 Asymmetric 3 is a good tyre; it's almost definitely better than the Potenza in all areas and I don't think you'll be disappointed. I had planned to buy them for mine soon, but the price has crept up whilst the PS4 price has crept down. I think it's generally accepted the PS4 is a better tyre now but neither are a bad choice

  17. Tyres on the drive are £92 a corner fitted ATM on the Assymetric 3 but have a £30 Amazon gift card promotion if you buy 2 or £60 if you buy 4. Blackcircles seem to be best on the PS4 at about £97 fitted per corner with a discount code if you buy 2 or £95 a corner if you buy 4. Can you guess I'm due tyres soon

  18. Good news folks They are replacing pedal free of charge, I don't know if they are doing it of their own volition or have been given permission by SUK. He will show me the broken pedal but has stated that SUK need to see it and has to be sent to them. Fair enough, as long as I don't have to pay is fine by me. I don't know whether my firm stance on threatening to go to SUK and Trading Standards helped, but I do know they want my business in future as the Service guy pointed out that I was indeed a loyal customer, funny how some react when telling them you'll think of going elsewhere. Thanks for all the replies and help, I can sleep soundly tonight and pick car up tomorrow (I wonder if they'll give it a valet too!)

  19. In the beginning I used a dry microfiber cloth but soon realized that im making it worse, now I have been using Turtle Wax window cleaning wipes which dont leave any streaks. Anyway I got a bottle of Meguiars Scratch X 2.0 fine scratch and blemish remover today and tried it out. The scratches are still there but it looks much better now. Here are the before/after results:

  20. just to let the guys with oil burners know that you DO need to fit the extension pipe otherwise the diffuser will warp with the heat as the inner of the two pipes is angled incorrectly and pushes heat onto the plastic. My new rieger is starting to show these effects.

  21. Thanks Nicky. Yes I'm delighted. I can see why there is a growing waiting list! Like others, my dealer said he is not allowed to order any more Karoq's for demonstrators. Took me old mum out in it, round the block. She could not tell when it changed gear, up or down. To be honest nor could I! After 20+ years of diesels its refreshing to get back to petrol.

  22. That changes things!! Shame I don’t have a detachable bar though, but at least I could take it off and have a nice diffuser. I’m liking this idea Once the bank balance has recovered from everything else ofc!!

  23. They’re white, matches the steering wheel buttons from MY16 onward which are also white. This was the big clincher for me when choosing between the 2 screens, I decided I couldn’t live with the mishmash of lighting colours and I have no patience to solder different backlighting myself. Mind you, my car needs some work doing to the steering wheel, so if I’d have bought an MY16 onward steering wheel id be saying a different thing I imagine haha

  24. Thanks Arkaig. Very useful. My dealer advised me of Codes 10, 20, and 30, so seems to have been more communicative than some. I still think SUK themselves should have a *proper* tracking app, as every other VAG brand appears to have already.

  25. Cars are rapidly becoming unrepairable disposable items. If my wifes Fabia 63 reg needed say a major gearbox repair or even a new egr valve and dpf it may not be economical to do it in a couple of years time when the value will be under £2k. I must admit that whereas before you could assume a car would last over 10 years, and that I could do virtually any repair myself for the cost of the parts and specialist machining, eg a Capri engine rebuild I did nearly 40 years ago(!!), now it would be near impossible for major DIY repairs like that with all the error codes to check etc. So I bought my yeti, paid for a 5 year warranty and expect do over 80K in that time for work and personal use. Anything over that is a bonus, but a rear axle failure like this at 5 years old would probably not be worth doing all at my cost at a main dealer with new parts. Only viable solution is second hand parts from broken cars at that point. If the car achieves 100k that will be a bonus, and looking on here they have large costs at 150k even when reliable and lucky such as dpf end of life which would probabkly write off a 10 year old car now? Makes you wonder how they can build them for the list price when these sub assemblies cost so much to replace; does a dpf really cost £1k+ on the production line?

  26. Rallye green and black colour concept owner here As posted the key is in the prep work I personally use meguiars but I always have and find the product range very good and easy to use Only advice I'll give is find a brand that A) you like the product range and is easy to use and gives good results that you expect and can achieve B )is easily available should you need something in emergency that you have ran out of C) is available at Halfords as hopefully they will have more 3for2 offers D)avoid the endless search of the perfect or best product it does not exist what works for me is what I use and everyone I know has a different opinion E) ignore marketing bull about hydrophobic nanolex polymer etc etcmost are in lab conditions and are different to what you will actually achieve Polish and wax wise I've tried #205 polish Very good hard to work with but cuts well and leaves a slick finish Gold class with carnauba wax Very easy to apply and remove leaves it looking deep but personally not very durable ultimate polish followed by Ultimate wax Currently my fave easy to apply tland remove the polish leaving a nice wet look wax is deceptive as it does not haze like most polishes so won't stain rubber and plastic trim so ensure good coverage very durable mirror bright polishing wax My current 2nd choice when not doing a full detail Slight cutting ability but very easy to remove and decent durability but not too long Having said that I usually top up wash once a week and use quik wax as a drying aid between polish sessions which helps You don't say if you are using a da machine or hand Prep prep prep is vital A lot of these so called colour polishes had little fillers to mask any fine scratches or swirls I am very anal about cleaning my car and have a set routine if you want me to share it I will

  27. The VW Pretorias will look ace (only 18's thou?) or am I wrong? I think a gloss black with a few bits of the alloy in gun metal? maybe a gun metal shade on the full face rim & the inside of the rim gloss black? Either way, will look sweet & suit well But originals of course

  30. I don't think there is anything strange in that screen shot. When the soot mass gets above ~18g the car should start an active regen. If it gets above ~24g, you'll get the DPF light and need to do a 'regen drive' to help out. The 72% is showing how close to 24g soot mass you are. During a regen both soot mass figures should drop and so should the 72%. If for any reason the car can't do a regen, the soot mass will keep increasing. Above ~40g will need a dealer regen (DPF, ECU, glow plug lights), above ~45g is normally the end of your DPF as it's no longer safe to regen. Assuming the car is working normally, it's the oil ash that determines the DPF lifetime. You're currently at 5.5g or 7% suggesting an expected life of 150k which isn't unusual.

  35. Welcome aboard. We have recently bought a Karoq, our first Skoda too. In a nutshell it's a really good car and in Edition spec is very well equipped for the money. Only had ours for 3 or 4 weeks but if asked would I buy another the answer would be yes. Test drive one and I'm sure you'll be pleasantly pleased.

  36. Update. My Yeti has finally been fixed. During removal of the back axle they found a second hole in the differential, proving it was an internal failure. Initially Skoda Customer Services said they would not pay any goodwill, as the garage was not sure of the cause of the failure. After lots of discussions, and the second hole, the very good news is they agreed to pay 60% of the cost of repair. The long delay in getting my Yeti back has been the very poor service I received from the Skoda dealer. As they were very very busy, they kept delaying working on my car, and hence it took a month to fix - if they had prioritised my car is would have taken just over a week. So final cost to me about £1600. So happy Skoda UK contributed goodwill; unhappy with the dealer service; unhappy that I had such a major failure in a car 3 years 11 moths old; and now a little worried about the future reliability of my Yeti. Thank you everyone for your comments. Of interest, someone mentioned that my insurance company may pick up the cost of repair if it was an external object that caused the failure. Before the discovery of the second hole, I did contact my insurance company and they said IF it the failure was caused by hitting something on the road, they would probably pick up the cost of repair. In fact, if it had been an external failure, it would have been much cheaper for me. Anyway hired a rental car to drive from Dorset to Derby; dropped off rental car at Derby; collected Yeti; collected my caravan out of storage near Derby, and now happily on holiday in the Peak district for 7 days.

  37. You are going down the right route as this extended warrenty is offered by Skoda. If you try to extend the warrenty you've collected the car, the Policy (at least here in switzerland) is a 3rd party one offered by the dealer & is much more expensive than buying direct at the time of purchase.

  41. Hi, sorry if you've already checked but how about swapping bulb, even with from the other number plate holder occasionally the wire filament of the bulb can break but still 'rest ' on the connector so makes intermittent contact if that makes sense, well worth a try as for the cost of the bulb it can be a cheap time solving fix

  44. I think this post jinked me. Just this week my Roomster did this again. Put the car into reverse and a long beep with no reversing sensors working. So gave it another scan and this time: Address 76: Park Assist Labels: 5J0-919-283.lbl Part No: 5J0 919 283 Component: Einparkhilfe V005 Revision: 00012000 Serial number: 07101056461054 Coding: 0001120 Shop #: WSC 73430 790 00000 VCID: 6FE668D07D2D913D5C-5120 1 Fault Found: 01547 - Sensor for Parking Aid; Rear Mid-Right (G205) 011 - Open Circuit - Intermittent So one on the other side this time. I've ordered 4 off eBay and I'm going to change all four. I can't be having one popping after the other, at 10 years old maybe that's their life.

  45. Other than the usual Audi/Mercs/BMW/ChelseaTractor bullying, I never noticed this with either of my Roomsters (Anthracite and Amazonian Green). Nor did I notice this with my Schitroen Berlingo (Silver). Although to be fair, I was often distracted by the myriad warning lights that lit up like a Christmas tree. Since owning my Yeti, I've noticed an increased level of bullying from Range Rover and other big 4x4s but I think that's just a case of "Mine's bigger than yours..." Have you considered driving with headlights on to see if it makes any difference? So many cars these days have DRLs that I wonder if some of today's myopic drivers do not "see" a car without them.

  46. Never ever pay the £269 for a variable / inspection service unless you can be sure you're getting all the filters replaced. The £149 fixed service is an oil and oil filter change. The £269 service gets this plus a fuel, pollen and air filter only "if required", which is usually around 3 years / 60,000 miles. Skoda will quite happily charge you £269 for a £149 oil change.
