VCDS options on Superb III

A question. Does anyone have the “tried, tested and implemented” full idiot VCDS coding please, to enable the eyelashes to work in conjunction with the DRL? The car in question is a 2016 L&K. Additionally, would this coding also work for on a ‘21 L&K?
All help appreciated

Num

U need to make sure u have version B xenon headlights, otherwise the coding won't have any effect.

Only version B headlights have the hardware to light up the eyelashes, or as I call them - whiskers.

Image below is wat I did to enable mine.

No, the coding will definitely not work with a facelift Superb.

Now poor little me has a question about coding :D , for the fun of it, has anyone tried coding US style onto a MK3?

I did find this guide, but not sure what to expect, there have been errors reported with this coing, about invalid light functions on VCDS scans, but it appears to funciton, and you can code it to only work in amber during day ( when main dipped beam is not on).. Ill attach the steps as folows, and can someone share their opinion on it?

Thnx!

Notes:

  1. Pending the information in your admap, I'm guessing that the DTC in your post may have been caused by setting the DRL illumination to 127. I've changed this in the table above
  2. Lichtfunktion E has 2 x settings; use either as desired and use the corresponding value for Dimmwert EF

What does this actually do - make the DRL’s eyelashes amber?

You can do it the easy way, or the easier way :D Open the hood, take a peek to see your model number on the sticker on each lights, if it ends in B its the correct light, if its an A it does not have the lashes, or just start the car up in dark, and if the lights dance left-right and up-down its B lights, if its only up-down its A lights!

Excatly that, instead of white they turn amber!

Mind you i have not tested the coding, just found it, since its nowhere to be found on this forum thought i ask about opinions before i try it out on mine, or ill just code it and see :D

Actually there is more to it with version B.

Version A has AFS (adaptive lighting), so it does up down left right check.

Version B does the similar, but in addition it also does a beam flattening and then a high U-shaped beam.

My bad then, thought that the AFS ones only do go up-down, then i guess looking at the sticker is the easier way, and using vcds/obd11 the easy way :D

I have the correct B version but unfortunately the coding, which I checked 3 times, didn’t work. ☹️ Somewhat frustrating…

Bugger, that's no good.

Mine worked first time, and I know of others over the years who have also successfully coded it.

If u have version B headlights, by default, the whiskers will only light up when the low beams r on.

In DRL or side light position the whiskers r off.

The coding posted enables the  whiskers in all positions.

The should dim, like the DRL strip, when either in side light position, or low beams r on.

Thanks for clarifying JR. I’ve just popped out (SWMBO thinks I’m insane - it’s 3.15 here!) and checked. So they work; they do come on with the switch in side light position AKA dim DLR’s. Given I’ve never used side lights in 45 years of driving and the light switch is always in auto, what I thought “Coding Eyelashes Always On” meant exactly that and they would be on together with the non-dimmed DRL’s, with the switch in the auto position. Guess its a “not what you say but the way that you say it” scenario and should say “Coding Eyelashes On With The Sidelights”.

The eyelashes on mine are always on.

- Auto or Off: DRL stripe full brightness, Eyelashes full brightness  (u can see it in the image below, and the previous image i posted)

- Side light on: DRL stripe dimmed, Eyelashes dimmed

- Low beam on: DRL stripe dimmed, Eyelashes dimmed

Well the only stickers I can find on my headlights end in D, not A or B.

The sticker is on top under the black metal cross bracket. Your headlamps don’t end in D. Will be A or B.

Clearly eyelashes.

Every superb has eye lashes, whether they have the hardware to light up depends on A or B. You can also just check your settings - vehicle - lights section for High Bean Assist or Smart Light Assist

Yes they light up. Tbh are there any top of the range superbs that don’t?

Edit: and I’m not JUST being belligerent. There was only one sticker I could see. Had exactly the same part number but with D. I’ll have another look in the daytime but the top of the unit  looks flush with the chassis so I can’t be assed to start taking bits apart.
either way I’ve seen the lashes lit up

@travs - u have a facelift.

They have an entirely different headlight setup, especially the hardware & electronics.

They behave different too.

The coding & discussion above is pre-facelift related.

The coding is not applicable to the facelift version.

Not quite correct.

It will only ever show "Dynamic Light Assist" in the infotainment, if u have HBA enabled, or have SLA headlights, but u won't b able to distinguish between version A and B headlights with this.

if u don't have HBA enabled and version A headlights - it will show "Light Assist".

if u have HBA enabled and version A headlights - it will change to "Dynamic Light Assist"

version B will already show "Dynamic Light Assist".

They ALL have eyelashes, the question is only if they are LIT.

They physically have it, yes, but version A only has the stripes, which is wat u see from the outside, but not the hardware (light optics) to make them light up.

OK, thanks JR. I have no idea what I’ve done wrong. As I say, I checked the coding three times but I’ll take another look; bloomin’ annoying!

Hey guys, news to disable start/stop in my S3 2017.

I know about voltage method but don't want to use it because of warning about high consumption usage showing in infotainment.

Can you tell me other working way to disable S/S?

Friend has disabled S/S with some other method and it works fine.

I put a start-stop memory module - brilliant as it keeps the start stop switched off, or on, depending on how u left it, and u still have the option to use it at ur command.

No errors. No warnings. No tricking.

Beats permanently disabling it by coding it out.
