The tailgate will only open if the correct button is pressed on the remote and held for several seconds.  Are you saying this is happening in your pocket without any input from your fingers, or anyone else's fingers for that matter?  I don't know of any method to deactivate the button, but it is a drastic step considering what you really need to do is to stop whatever is pressing the tailgate button in your pocket.

Deactivating the stop/start system is straightforward if you have access to vcds to reprogram the system.

The tailgate opening problem is widely reported on here if you have a search around. The only clumsy solution most have found is to use a key case when it's in your pocket, or a clip to prevent you needing to put it in a tight pocket.

 

Stop/Start can't be deactivated by the driver without using VCDS software to 'hack' the system, as highlighted by the poster above. I think even the VCDS solution is far from ideal as it throws up a constant error when deactivated. In theory, the car components should be able to withstand the demands of stop/start driving in a city, but many like you would prefer to switch it off fully, rather than having to do it manually each time the car is started.

I think it mostly happens when I have my 2yo on my lap. But the uncertainity of the function just makes me worried really, I never use the remote to open the tailgate anyway so it just means that I worry that I might find it open at the wrong time in the wrong place after someone has emptied the car.

Hmm, annoying if it can’t be done successfully with VCDS either. But I drove a MK2 facelift Superb with the start/stop function deactivated just the other day, it didn’t display any errors that I noticed. Unfortunately the owner hadn’t done the fix himself so he couldn’t explain what had been done. But maybe the VCDS fix on MK2 was better?

As it is, on my MK3, I press the A button whenever I start the car. It works, but it’s annoying. :/

I have used vcds to make the change, but there is no constant error.  What I do get is the notification that Start/stop is deactivated, but that shows up under normal conditions.

"IDE08348  Start/stop start voltage limit"  Alter the voltage limit of 7.6V to 9.5V.  Others have said use 12V, but I found 9.5V works every time.

Ah okay then I misunderstood  I get that notification when pushing the A button anyway right now so then it’s no problem.

 

Interesting! So you’re altering the voltage limits where the start/stop can funtion, basically tells the car that you need a fully charged battery for that function to work?

Exactly.  The engine will only be idling when the voltage is measured, so the alternator won't be helping much.

The VCDS products are really expensive though. Can you do such an alteration with any of the cheaper adapters you can connect to your phone? Or are those only for reading fail codes? At this point I really just want that auto start/stop function deactivated.

Seems to only work with Android though, unfortunately I need something that works on iPhone. However I saw talk about Carista that seemed to have the start/stop editing. 

 

Anybody know if that is safe to use on my car (MY15 Superb MK3) just to get rid of that function?

Just wanted to point out that you can deactivate the open-trunk-with-remote with a simple click through Carista. Works beautifully.

 

Just today I had another incident where the trunk had been opened by mistake, I had the keys in my pocket and was emptying a kids bath pool, squeezing the air out. Car was in the garage. When I opened the garage door, which folds upwards, I slammed the door into the open trunk! Gah! No more!!!

More Carista app usage...

 

I just deactivated the auto start/stop. Super intuitive, couldn’t be easier!

 

Method A is to increase the voltage limit as been said before, 7.6V is the factory setting, then you can set it to a bunch of preset values as seen in the pic above, with 12V and 12.1V being the ones that definitely kills the function.

 

Method B apparently use the temperature to deactivate it instead, haven’t tried that yet.

 

The downside with Carista is that you get a week of Pro features cheap but then have to subscribe year by year. Cheap if you just want to do minor tweaks at one time. Expensive if you want to keep on tweaking.

I have come out of the house in the morning with the trunk being open all night....the placement of the button in the centre console is also  very unintelligent, a mis-placed coolbag made it open in the lion enclosure at a safari park...nice one! Now moved to VW and its in the driver door away from all risk :)

Yeah, it could possibly be a good feature if you have your keys in a bag, unless you have other hard things in it which can push the button, but for me who always have the keys in my pocket it’s the worst feature I’ve ever had on a car. I basically felt afraid when parking the car...  will the trunk be open in the middle of the parking lot, do I have something in the trunk that someone might want to steal, how’s the weather gonna be, will it rain? Etc. 

 

But now it’s deactivated. Now it’s all good.

 

I have no idea what the actual tweak was though, I see the flashers blink so the signal goes through but nothing happens. Maybe the range is just shortened? I’ve stood behind the car and pushed the button though. Whatever the tweak was it works anyway, and I didn’t know that feature could be deactivated with Carista, I just bought that to deactivate auto start/stop, so it was a wonderful surprise that nearly got me to scream out in happiness when I saw it  

 

Does Carista let you adjust the throttle response setting to Audi?

No I didn’t see anything regarding the engine except enable/disable auto start/stop.

I think if you need to do deeper tweaks you probably need VCDS. Not sure how OBDeleven is though, I went with Carista because it works for iPhone.

It showed a throttle response setting for me but didn't make a difference. I had set mine to Audi using VCDS already then tried the carista options but they didn't change anything. I wonder if you change the default values in VCDS, carista can't change them further....

The options offered for throttle were something like "default - time threshold" or "direct - sensor controlled"

 

I think I've messed up my easy open (waggly foot controlled boot opening) cos it doesnt work anymore after messing with carista....

Finally managed to code the acoustic for unlock and lock on my superb sportline. Had it on my fl octy vrs and missed this.  And found whilst in the obdeleven coding that i could also code the easy entry function.  Makes it easier to get in and out. Seat moves back when ignition is turned off and resets to original position when car is started.  Pretty cool feature!

To check if you have SLA fitted and therefore eyelashes that will light up, make sure you headlight part No.s end in B and not A...

the * determines if the car is LHD or RHD (3V1 = LHD & 3V2 = RHD)

The second * is whether it is the left or right headlight, which is why I have not included these digits, you can find these numbers on a white sticker on the rear of the headlights.

If he had the necessary headlight units for SLA he'd already have SLA and not need to enable it  But since it needs different headlights then he's not going to be able to enable with VCDS. Since he enabled HBA then I conclude he did not order the car with Smart Light Assist.
