Modifying Your Fabia MK III

Featured Replies

Hi krigl

Thanks for the offer....very tempting but im still trying to work out the best way to go.

Significant increase with this ootion though and simple installation too.

I have a small amount of technical knowledge and know how but i have long since learnt that......thats probably more dangerous than knowing nothing, hence the research questions first.

I will no doubt kick myself when i realise i should have grabbed this with both hands as a bargain.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

I've built a small 8" subwoofer for my Fabia It's designed to fit snugly in the "basket" in the trunk and have a quick connection so it's easy to remove if needed.  If someone wants to see

  • Just bought my monte carlo a few weeks ago.    Only done a few mods to it so far.   I've lowered it on eibach springs (30/45mm) and sprayed the badges black.    Also clay

Hi Guys

I joined the forum just about a year ago after purchasing a 110 Monte.

Asked a few questions and then work took over my life so didnt get back on.

Hopefully all is a bit calmer now so its time to start loving the car for what it is. Ive just been through the pages on this chat to find some answers before bothering you all but ive either missed what i seek or its in another chat.

So....

Im thinking of upgrading the following:

Exhaust - stainless system???

Power - Remap or Plug/play???

Air- induction or filter???

Suspension - coilovers???

It runs with the opted for Skoda Sports Suspension. I know a lot of you question the FF option but i quite like it and it makes a subtle difference to ride height although i do agree that the rear still sits high.

If any of you could offer advice or opinions on the above list id be very greatful.

Hello fellow Monte owner!

I’d recommend Powerflow Exhaust, not the cheapest, but extremely custom and high level work. As for coilovers, they’re something I’d recommend (only if you’re spending quite a bit on a good quality set). I have Eibach lowering springs, but I’m hoping to upgrade to coilovers, only thing holding me back is the price!

Not it sure if I answered your questions but fire away!

Regarding the tuning box vs the remap...

I tried both and ended up with remap just because i have a dsg box and the ecu torque figures were not calculated correctly, which is needed for te dsg to work perfect.

As for power delivery from the engine, i could not tell the difference basically. But now with a remap I am forced to use 98 octane gas, due to tuning file, with the tuning box this was not an issue, since it could be set with a dial inside the box.

I would say, same power, but so less hastle with the tuning box, if you have a manual transmission.

For a moment there i thought you meant  no difference over the standard output.....took me a moment to realise you meant between chip and remap....God help you boys from amateurs....

Hi Lemto....

I think i have a powerflow place near me. It might even be them i asked for a quote and they suggested i call to see them so they can quote properly.....intend getting there as soon as i can. They are in Wellingborough (NN postcode) if its them.

As for coilovers....i looked at AP and they are 1/2 the price of Eibach.....is there a good reason for that...as in Eibach are actually twice as good?

Hi!

For Power I can recommend the RaceChip plugin chip. It really does wonders for the usable torque, and makes the car really easy to drive. Installation/removal takes under 5 minutes, and once you remove the chip, the car is back to stock.

Hi Raz

I have been looking at Racechip.

Which one did you opt for?

I bought it two years ago, so it is the one called RaceChip Pro2. Today, the equivalent version is called RS

In terms of coilovers, I’m not 100% sure what the best manufacturer would be. I was referring to the lowering springs I purchased, Eibach are a reliable brand. I also think they’re the brand Skoda use for their sport suspension.

I would look into reviews for AP though, as I’ve always been told to splash out on a good set of coilovers. Definitely research it as much as possible, suspension is something you don’t want to neglect!

I had the Skoda factory fit sport suspension option fitted when i purchased the car and i quite like it. The rear could lose another 25mm quite easily but generally i like the look anyway.

Mines getting lowered tomorrow will stick some pics up last night.

Hiya....

What you putting on....springs or coilovers...and which make?

Direnza springs, lowering 30mil at front and about 40 rear with it being a estate.

What sort of price is it to get springs fitted these days?

Personally i have no idea......

Im hoping i have a slight advantage on that as my daughter is a 2nd year apprentice HGV mechanic and the guys there are all really good... as is she.

On a separate note i had my Carista OBD device turn up yesterday so hopefully that will be the needle sweep sorted

What else can the Carista do? I'd be interested in this if I could turn on other options like light assistant or something.

It does quite a lot i think.

The full access is chargeable but i bought it from Amazon £15.99 and it comes with 1 month access free.

Im hoping i can get to close the windows by remote, its on the list when you go into it and there are quite a few light options.

I live in a wifi blackspot so until i pop out to civilisation it wont register a change.

I will let you know what happens

Paying £170 for mine to get done  that's fitting and labour at a garage as I am not wanting to touch suspension.

Well....the Carista does the needle sweep ok. I changed settings for the windows but that hasnt changed. Im assuming you need to have one touch electric windows which for some unknown reason Skoda decided not to fit that. I also enabled the cornering fog lights but i have yet to go out in the dark to see if thats working.

Actually the cornering lights do work.

Lights on and full lock confirmed it....no udea why i didnt think of that before.

So all in all....happy with the carista

This is how it should come as standard. I can't believe how high they are normally, they're like a 4x4.

Well mine came with 15inch steels, so when I changed to the alloys it just looked weird and on stilts. It actually looks the part, I would love to transform mine into what a mark 3 vRS should have looked like.

Davy

Ive been having another scout through to see the general opinion on air........the ones ive just been reading were old posts but the bottom line opinion seemed to be a big old.......no point.

I was heading towards induction.....changed lanes to replacement panel filter and now get the feeling theres not much point....

Any input????
