Well....the Carista does the needle sweep ok. I changed settings for the windows but that hasnt changed. Im assuming you need to have one touch electric windows which for some unknown reason Skoda decided not to fit that. I also enabled the cornering fog lights but i have yet to go out in the dark to see if thats working.

Do you have electric Windows in the back?

i was told the power window close doesn't work if you don't have electrics all round.

i have had Carista for a year and it's pretty good.

cant get the coming home lights to work though.

Hey guys,

I’ve been debating on whether or not to buy a new set of alloys for my Meteor Grey Monte. Although the alloys that came with the car are nice, they’re so hard to keep clean and I unfortunately slightly scuffed one thanks to having to make way for a moron on the road.

I feel like I should get another black set as it seems like the safe option. However, I kind of want a change, not sure if it’s worth potentially not liking the look! Just wanted to know which set you guys would rather have. One is Matt Black and one is ‘Hyper Black’.

Would love to hear your thoughts!

If you are scuffing the OEM ones that came with the car then you will really be upset when scuffing ones you paid out even more money for.

Black does make the wheels easy to touch up so that the damage is not seen or not easily seen.

Yes, Im aware of this. I only scuffed the current ones, as I said, because some idiot instead of giving way kept going, meaning I went too close to the curb.

Ill try touching them up, any tips?

Or a black touch up pen.

My mate’s got a £600 set of alloys on his micra, two colours on his alloy and scuffed his a beauty the other week, I told him to use a touch up pen, he was like I am away for a refurb. He is not finding many places in Edinburgh willing to refurb due to two different colours!

Maybe comes up with a google,

a great place beside Dyce Airport (Aberdeen),  drop the car off in the morning, have a day out in Aberdeen pick the car up at tea time with refurbished wheels.

If they still do that.

http://thewheelspecialist.co.uk   Edinburgh, South Gyle Crescent.

PS

There was a top quality Wheel Refurbisher Ayr / Prestwick area.

Drop off the wheels, price was dependent on how quick you needed them back.

Cheers @Offski, I know exactly the one you mean, I tend to use the one out at Polton mill for mine, will pass this onto my mate, my mate could simply leave his car as he has a daily for work.

Whats crackin homies!

So i was looking around on the internet for some front bumper winglets and decided to make my own for next to nothing out of scrap alluminium from work and I need to buy some paint to finish them off but it was a much better option than spending upwards of £40 on something that wouldnt really fit.

Just thought i'd upload a couple of pictures to hear your oppinions.

Respect your skills - great looking job.

Whether they are legal are not - that's another question though. Next mod spinning blades on your hubs?

I hope they are legal - they really look good.

An Insurance Loss Adjuster / Examiner or Police Accident Examiner would likely have a field day with them if the car was ever in a fatality or life changing incident.

They would almost certainly need declared as a modification with an insurance company.

Thanks chaps!

I will declare them, but now that they are painted up they arent that obvious to the unsuspecting eye.

Also i dont see why they would be illegal, cars like the civic type R have this kind of thing as standard, just a little different. And they dont stick out past the wheels so i cant see there being an issue.

Will be fitting them on this weekend once the paint is set, I will post some more picture when im done!

Ive also just recieved some Vogtland lowering springs from demon tweeks, 40mm front and back. Will be fitting them myself with a friend in the near future.

I cant wait!!

I think the problem would be if they hit someone. ( on the leg )

You don't have badge emblems on bonnets any more for the same reason.

Honda Civic Type R are made of plastic?

Thanks AG Falco

I see what you are saying, however i was just looking on another forum and they were talking about a very similar topic, canards on the road.

One of them had spoken to an MOT tester about them.

Their conclusion was that if they are low on the car and the edge doesnt stick straight out (as though i didnt bend the aluminium at all)

They shouldnt be a problem

And i think that canards would be even worse for hitting a pedestrian, what with being right on the front edge of the bumper

Just as an aside - but relevant to modifications though not (I hope) on a Fabia.

I really do not know how bullbars are thought to be permissible by some owners of SUV's etc. The vehicle has been crash tested and given ratings etc. The bullbars just make a mockery of the efforts the manufacturer has gone to for pedestrian safety, crumple zones etc.

Interesting to know how an owner fared with their insurance company if they were involved in an accident with them on. It would have an entirely different outcome of damage compared to not having them fitted.

There is a date of manufacturing where it is illegal to fit Bull Bars and Winch Bumpers of certain types to vehicles.

Bull bars and winch bumpers need to meet EU standards and be tested.

Hence the Land Rover / Range Rover soft Bumper / Winch Bumpers.

Many do not know or care on the restrictions, and they still get fitted to not only older vehicles but newer once after the Construction & Use Changes.

2007, 11 years ago.

Manufacturers and retailers know, and it is like EU Approved Tow Bars, fitters can not fit to vehicles not approved to have a tow bar, if they do they are liable to prosecution.

Never known a MOT test pick up on Bull Bars or Winch Bumpers and give an Advisory on them, Insurance Loss Adjusters and Crash Examiners do though, as do Tester / Examiners at an IVA test.

Always learning - thanks Offski.

Mk1 & MK2 Fabia vRS hatch & estate can not tow.

Yet the Mk2 vRS sister cars from VW, SEAT & Audi with the same engines, gearboxes / DSG and brakes can as the manufacturers submitted towing weights for them.

But then the Mk2 vRS Fabia had Ballast Weights fitted to the rear crash bar to sand bag it and give it an unladen weight 5 kg than the 9 3/4" longer estate. And a higher VED band than the VW Polo GTI....

Just imagine the cost of designing, manufacturing, testing then producing and fitting to thousands of cars,

while every other manufacturer is reducing the weight of cars.

*The Audi TT needed ballast added to early ones as well, because the engineers messed up somehow.*

Thought I’d give my insurer an email to ask how much my modifications would increase my current premium, turns out they don’t cover them at all. A real bummer, thanks boy racers!
