Mine were supplied with 4 8mm ball joints and 4 6mm ball joints, didn’t have to adjust them or anything, had 2 sets of each in the bag. They are suprisingly good tbf.

You’re welcome, just remember to check your door controllers first lol

Cracking effort on another retrofit @SashaGrace! What's next :tongueout:

Great job. Are they autodimming or is that another mod you're working on? I think this is one of the best value options, particularly useful at this time of year.

Getting these sorted first haha, hopefully the new door controllers will be here by the weekend.

They are supposed to be autodimming I think, but they don’t look like the ones on my Mercedes. Pretty sure they should be autodimming as that came with the folding option iirc but I’m not sure how accurate that info is.

There should be a thin black line that goes around the edge of the glass for autodimming.

Another good write up Sasha, pity about the door controller's, but watching your progress through this thread, that isn't going to bother you. :)

Keep up the good work/log

Thanks for the tip, I’ll have a look tomorrow :)

Thanks. I hope it’ll all be sorted when they arrive. Doing half this work again and changing the controllers isn’t the issue for me, it’s making sure everything in the doors work again when I’m done!!

I certainly did, got a bit messed up due to a unplanned rain shower, just need to rub it down and blow it over again

@Pittsy mate how did you get the original off?

@SashaGrace What are you doing with the red caps?  I may have them off you if still in good nick?  Postage plus beer money of course

They are in good condition with only the lightest of marks on the paint. Ideally I’d like them to go with the mirrors though, but I welcome a pm with an offer :)

I have always hated the stupid stick that originally held the bonnet up and a set of gas struts have been on the cards for a while now but I could never justify £40 for them from SuperSkoda. I was recommended this set from eBay for £7.50 that do the job just as well. They are a little longer than the ones from SuperSkoda but they work really well as you can see.

They lift the bonnet well too :)

They take only minutes to fit once you have a 10mm socket to remove the ring bolts and an M10 spline tool to remove the bolt that holds the bonnet hinge on. Much better than the stupid stick!!

Link here https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F192589481940

Price is now £8.58 but still worth it :D

Great job, how easy are they to fit? I've not taken a look at the fixing locations yet but is there much work required to get these to fit etc?

They are very easy to fit, you’ll need a 10 mm spline tool to remove the bonnet hinge fixing and I think the wing bolt is requires a 10mm socket. The new ball joints in this kit use a 12 mm fixing so you’ll need a 12 mm spanner. The wing bolts are M6 thread and the bonnet bolts are M8 thread. It’s great to have a helper to hold the bonnet open while you are doing it, but it’s possible to do it by yourself :)

Thanks!

So you need to remove the top hinge fitting and replace this with the top of the gas strut.

Then I notice there is a hole on the inside of the wing where the bottom fixing of the gas strut would go.  Thats the two mounting holes?

Cheers!

The 2 fixings circled need replacing with ball joints :)

In case it helps, this is what the auto-dimming door mirror glass looks like, pictured here on a Kodiaq...

By the look of it these ones aren’t auto dimming which is a bit of a shame, but I really wanted the power folding so that’s ok. It also means if I break a glass removing one this weekend for the LED modules then I have a spare!

Camera as finally arrived!!

Also ordered the final mod of the year (or the first mod of next year, depending when they arrive), dynamic indicators for the mirrors!! Yes those swishy swipy indicators are finally available for the Octy 3 on eBay and AliExpress. I half heartedly started looking ages back but it seems the Octy was being left out. Someone on the Octy 3 vRS Facebook group was more persistent than me and found a set for the Octy 3 so I have placed my order, hopefully they’ll be here in a few weeks. They so cool!!

Nice tree  by the way :)

Saturday hopefully :) I didn’t put the tree up on December 1st and I didn’t decorate it either. Call be bah humbug but I’d have only bothered with it for a week or so around Christmas but such is life with a 3 year old...

#Sasha - Do you know if those bonnet struts are available on Amazon? Cant seem to find them ;O

Also.. Where did you get the reverse camera?
