Columbus Map Update 2020-2021 (MIB1/MIB2/MIB2H)

Featured Replies

Have to start from bad news -
now also VW's portal requires registration to download map updates 😞
previously there was ability of select different car models and choose files for different media systems and regions

Macs are a bit more problematic as they put some 'hidden' files on the card which confuses the head unit

@MartiniB What about if you connect through a VPN? Using @langers2k link connected through a UK VPN I get an English language link that just needs me to select a vehicle and infotainment to get to the VW system download.

@Pilotguy

thanks, i can open link posted by @langers2k

previously bookmarked link stopped provide such content

I guessed that you could open it but it was asking you to log in. With the link opened via a vpn connection I wasn’t asked for any credentials.

I don't use a VPN and clicking on the link took me straight to the download without needing to login.

I made it harder for myself by using the incorrect VW files instead of the direct link. :blush

At least it's all updated and working which is the main thing.

Once again, thanks to everyone concerned in making this happen and especially to @MartiniB for being such an asset to Briskoda.

Hi,

downloaded the maps last night and put in on a USB but car does not find it 😞

However I suspect the car is doing its updates by itself 🙂

It is a 2020 Superb iV and the instruction book does not seem to apply to the system that is fitted as lots of the instructions do not work.

Attached are two pics and as you can see the format is different from before and seem to indicate that the maps have updated from Mar to May

If anyone else has this newer version would love to see if you are seeing the same info.

as you can see in the pics the database has gone from 20.3 to 20.4

If you need to use a genuine Skoda card for maps then you have the Amundsen unit not Columbus which this post is for.

As mentioned, if your device's navigation only functions when a navigation SD Card is present then you have Amundsen.

The apparent 16 GB card should actually be a 32 GB card. It's all to do with clusters and sectors and the way the card was originally formatted. Make a backup copy of your card then reformat it using standard settings and you should have an empty 32 GB card onto which you can download and install the latest Amundsen-specific map update.

the Skoda Update portal has P88 available for download.

i'm getting it from there :)

@ScoutAngell

so yeah, my mistake, it probably is just 16 GB

Is this referring to a Columbus or Amundsen download?

can you PM me your VIN?

European doesn't offer ROW, but with one saved Australian still P85

not for current file, for future capture of links

  • 2 weeks later...

This is great, thank you.

I notice that the date on the MIB files is the 19-12-19; is this correct?

Also, can you give me an estimate how long should it take to update a 2016 Columbus via USB?

  • Author

@numskull

1. date is correct, firstly that files are created for Audi,

haven't seen any link in public area.

they download by individual accounts in MyAudi portal, and count of updates are limited.

VW and Škoda got same files with small delay, Seat with huge delay.

2. have read reports about update from USB are faster than ~30 minutes from SD, not tested.

Thanks @MartiniB  I’d also downloaded the Skoda version and oddly, that’s dated May 20!
Ahh right, so not too bad then. Fingers crossed USB is a bit faster. EDIT - so 30m less than SD? So what’s the SD time? 😳

Didn’t read the reply properly!

what files do i put onto the SD card please

All three.

MIB 1 and 2 in the folders ?

I’ve just copied all three to a USB 3 stick.
