It's probably my being a novice, but I disconnected the original part (the one that connects the female usb adaptor to the male USB A cable that connects to the yellow fakra), then wired in the 5+ in C3 and ground to C4 as instructed, then connected it again to the yellow fakra.

Must admit it was much more of a tight squeeze connecting it all up without that previous USB extension being used. Only when I powered the unit on, still none of the USB sockets get any power.

What am I doing wrong? 🤓

did you connect the white 4 pin connector straight to the head unit il the rigt place?

youshould test the leads on th 5v wires to see if you have power on theme.

Also check if they did not ivert live and ground.

Alsi make sure that you have cables on the other side of the quadlock going into the car.

I sold my unit so I can't show you pictures

  • The job is never finished until you leave DNA behind!

  • Small update as have now gone back in and put a generic external microphone in place. I opted not to put it behind the trim where factory one is as it's blanked off on driver side and didn't think it

  • That screen to map out the steering controls is identical to that on mine.   If you did want to add DAB to it by the way then I can highly recommend the rear amplifier and splitter option.

Not sure if this is the right area to ask.

Since installing my measly 2gb version, my Carista Box doesn't find the ECU.

I'm due to put the car in for Stage 1 remap in the next week or so and they take the ECU data from the OBD port.

Is it worth hooking up the old unit for this to be done or should it be fine to leave the android unit connected.

In other news, my 4gb model is currently at Heathrow airport lol

It has nothing to do with the unit. The unit only communicates throught the canbus and doesn't write anything in the car.

The guys remapping will in fact go trought the ODB port but with something more similar to a VAGCOM than a simple ODB reader.

Your box may be faulty

wich seller did you get your 4GB from?

Where in the North are you?

It friends on what items you have available to join the two cables together.  You just trim the outer insulation off the end of the blue radio cable and put a female bullet crimp on it and connect that way or cut the crump off the dual FAKRA blue cable and connect using a choc block connector.

I'm in Elgin in Moray, so maybe more Northeast than North but unfortunately as we have an IV postcode still classed as the Highlands.

I'll nip in past Halfords tomorrow to see what they have, maybe try a couple of pals first too, for all the second it should take, thanks again.

When I referred to phone data for trips to Scotland, it was for journeys to Forres (near Elgin) where my daughter lives, son in law was working  at Lossiemouth for a while. We love the area. Interesting coincidence.

Sorry, just seen this. Just got another from Ebilaen. Which arrived today.

Seems better, but what canbus options did everyone take.

Raise Octavia 17 is my setup. To be honest, apart from the differences in A/C controls I haven't really noticed much difference with any of PQ/MQB/Passat/Golf or Octavia canbus setup.

Cheers those that confirmed MQB, couldn't find it to start with and had to update the canbus.

All sorted now. Need to wire through the USB attachment. @nickytheshaft they are now sending them out with the stereo.

Rear view camera will be for a day when the kids are back in school.

Infact, I might be OK, the extended loom that I was given before has those two pins.

Going to fit that and see what happens.

Cheers, got it fitted into the loom, just not enough wire to get it into the back of the stereo. Looks like I'm going to need to do some cable snipping and extending.

Additionally, anyone use Poweramp for music. Won't let me sync my external drive. (Plugged into one of the double USB in the glove box)

Extended loom only gives me one USB in the glove box due to the pins in the back of the stereo

Yes i have poweramp, have you changed the settings in poweramp to enable legacy usb? i had to do that as it wouldn't read usb until i did then went back into settings and selected the usb for music and it works fine.

Once I went into Legacy, it showed it there, but the tick box was blanked out and I couldn't select it.

Ran a scan and nothing.

See the cable for the main USB, to extend that, what cable type should I look for

To extend the USB data cable i would just find an old usb lead or even a phone charging cable and strip the outer insulation off it and use the in cable inside, it is only data signals that you are extending so doesn't need to be that hefty, you could even use the a twisted pair cable from a LAN cable if you wanted.
