  • I had so many spontaneous reboots this week with even 4 occurring on the same day that the infotainment system was practically unusable. That’s why I decided to go ahead and install 1941 yesterday.

I am SW1898, is it safe to upgrade to SW1941

Thank you Sir

This may be totally unrelated but since I upgraded from a pixel 4a to a pixel 7 phone, the reboots stopped.

I'm still on 1898 as I never got around to updating as the reboots stopped

Hi! New here but have read this thread extensively. I am in a mk iv Octavia RS with software version 1941. My infotainment system seems to have a mind of its own. Endless restart after restart with that constant clicking noise. Multiple times with the RS logo appearing. Drove the car for about 90 minutes yesterday on a journey, happened the whole way after about 15 minutes in. Wondering is anyone having the same issue with the 1941 version?

Also to add to this the infotainment system turns itself on randomly when I’m inside the house. I could be in the sitting room with car locked and the system would start blaring music. I then have to go and unlock and lock the car again for it to turn off. The only way I’ve seen to fix this is to keep the key in a faraday box which isn’t suitable when out and about. Even with keys in a faraday box this morning, phone automatically connected to the car system when playing a video, even though car hasn’t been on all night and has been locked up.

No, no problems here, the only thing I can suggest is do a factory reset on it and re-pair the keys and enter your details etc again and see what happens.

Are you using usb? Because this kind of issue is happening to me when i have usb for mp3 pluged in. When i un-plug it, and turn car off and lock it ane again unlock it and start it on issue is gone.

No nothing plugged in at all. No USB. Even disconnecting the Bluetooth before I get in the car to try alleviate the issue, and have the privacy settings set to maximum private.

I’ve tried the reset thing by holding the button down and then restored to factory settings. Will try again a couple of times and renter my email and details and do the keys and see does it help.

I was told by my local main dealer that the issue is related to the onboard sim card. Apparently the cars sim is setup to primarily use 4G but when you drive into an area with a 5G mast the sim attempts to swap over to 5G.. cant do it.. and errors out.

Dunno if that is actually true or not...

That would make sense if it was true. Gonna book it into the main dealer and see what they say.

This sounda unlikely...

1.the reboot occurs mostly when you start the car

2. Switching between 4G and 5G in bigger cities is being done a lot, so we would have lots of reboots...

3. The network change could not cause any system reboots

Therefore I think the dealer is talking crap...

My dealer done the upgrade from 1896 to 1941 and since then, no problems...

Even I think the probles is in skoda servers...

I’m on the 1941 and it’s constantly rebooting. Doesn’t happen when I first start, could take a few minutes to connect to the actual system and then after about 10 minutes it’ll start turning the radio on and off and then restarting completely. Over and over again. It also starts itself when the keys are inside the house and the radio starts blasting.

Today I left the car outside under the sun and +30. Reboots came back, even though since I got 1941 I thought they are over. So looks like regardless software, issue of overheating is still there. Yes, until it calms (cools?) down, it is in on-off loop, restarting, starting up while car is parked (playing music and draining 12V battery).
So idk what to do... Great that I extended warranty, because new MIB costs 1500 + work, but how many times they are going to change it over and over again? Makes me tired... My theory is that MIB is fine but, indeed, communications module triggers it to restart or reboot. However, technicians in a workshop can't check it, they strictly follow repair guidelines which say to change MIB.

Hello,

How can I get the link for the 1941?

Thanks!

It's posted here - just read the thread a little reverse

Well, after carrying out the latest OTA software update I’ve found that the infotainment system is rebooting more and more often and now Apple CarPlay isn’t working properly.

I’m on software 1900 and whilst I could update to 1941 myself as per this thread I’ve booked it into the dealer to do it as a) I don’t trust myself not to **** it up, b) it’s a company car and I don’t trust myself not **** it up, and c) the car is two months old and Skoda can ****ing fix it for me I feel. Also they can look into the fact the ****ing boot keeps opening itself.

So unimpressed with this car and Skoda overall, particularly after waiting almost two years for them to build the thing.

The Briskoda bleep machine has melted and swearbox is overflowing and everyone can have a drink 😆

I know the feeling though, having the system working perfectly, only for some muppet to issue a flawed download which sends systems into meltdown. I'm lucky in that I've had 🤞no further problems.

I’ve just had a new MIB fitted on 2020 First Edition, it was supplied with old 1668 software installed, the dealer has today done all the updates required and I now have 1941 installed. I mentioned to the dealer that the kmh/ mph issue has never been resolved. Upon completion of installing 1941 they have installed a further update and I now have a fully working car. Sat nav is now in miles and yards and I can now display kmh and mph on the virtual cockpit. So for anyone who never had the new digital cockpit fitted on the early cars, there is now a software fix. Hopefully this  will be a game changer now and all works ok.

Can you share this picture of new digital cockpit?

My dads just had 1941 installed from 1896 which was endless restarting too. They also flashed the reversing camera to stop it flickering, fingers crossed because he has had enough of it.
