Thought I post here to do a bit of a sanity check that I wasn't the only one.

We were experiencing all the well known infotainment problems for the second time since buying the 72 plate in 2023. Called the local Skoda dealership and they said they'd run a electrical diagnostic and thought it had fixed the problems like the previous time we'd taken the car in, which was under a year ago. But unfortunately despite being updated to version 1985 I experienced dreaded random restarts on the way home.

I called again, book the car in for another check but not feeling too confident they'll be able to correct the problems as no one seems to know how to fix it or that there is a problem at all.

Anyone else having issues even after the update to 1985?

I haven't experienced those issues myself, but from what I've read on here it seems that in cases such as yours the infotainment unit itself needs replacing. If you read through more topics on the subject in this forum you'll likely discover those posts which could be of some help to you

hello ! any update? is this the latest?

I've got new Octavia FL, bought it less than a month ago.

However, my sw version 0196 seems completely different than amy version mentioned here.

Does anyone know is this super old or super new version?20250519_182150.jpg20250519_181635.jpg

Ok, makes sense. My infotainment is 10inch though, not the new 13inch one.

I didn't find a thread for FL versions , does anyone know if ma version is up to date? No problems, but Im missing some features like compass, so i thought maybe im due for an update.

Hello everyone.

I am writing this post with the intention to help somebody with few of the issues of the 1985 sw.

I wrote previously in other thread - NEW 1985 (or similar) but since this one is pinned and more popular I will put it here.

So - about the issue with the buggy Apple Carplay not changing the Album Covers and Song titles on the Digital/Virtual Cockpit. And sometimes not showing the caller's name on the VC when someone calls through Carplay.

Previously when I bought my car with SW 1969 it was working flawlessly but when I updated to 1985 the issue started.

I found out that sometimes the titles and covers change as they should and sometimes they don't.

So I think the solution is quite easy - If you switch off the car (leave it and lock it) with the Apple Carplay opened on the main screen before that, the next time you start the car the Carplay with automatically startup on the main screen and will communicate with the Digital Dashboard as it should. But if you switch off the engine whilst Carplay is not opened on the screen, the next time the Virtual Cockpit will be buggy Apple Carplay-wise.

I think this trick works even if you listen to a radio before switching off the engine but the Apple Carplay should be opened on the screen. Mine is usually the modular - Map/Waze + Spotify/Music + Search/Directions in one screen.

I am not 100% sure that's the reason/solution but I found out this trick does the job for now.

Hope that helps. Cheers.

I have a 70 plate (late 2020) se l (I think first edition) estate and my software is still on version 1896. Can I install the latest software from this version in one go or should I start with version 1941 or 1969 just to be on the safe side?

Also I don’t own a PC I have a MacBook. If I download onto my MacBook and unzip the files on that using something like 7zip, would it still install okay? My partner has a pc so if it’s safer to download via windows I can do that instead.

Any help would be great because I’m fed up of nearly two years of very old buggy software on my Octavia.

Thanks.

I have the same car on the same year, and applied the 1985 update straight from 1896 without issue. Not sure about the macbook thing as I have a laptop with windows

That's the new style Infotainment unit in a facelift not the Infotainment in a mk4. They use different software.

What's the difference in a mk4 and a face-lift?

Mid-life model refresh. Internal changes (e.g. large 13‘ screen replacing the 10’ screen in the high-end version) and subtle tweaks to the front and rear.

Hey there,

First-time poster here.

I'm currently looking for the package of software version 1969 (MOI3_EU_SK_R9690L).

I've seen many links shared here, but unfortunately, none of them seem to be working anymore.

I was able to find versions 1941, 1969, and 1985 on mibsolution, but the identifier for version 1969 is different (VW or SE instead of SK).

So... is there anyone here who can help me out? Or am I just too blind to find the compatible version on mibsolution?

My current plan is to update in smaller steps (1941 -> 1969 _> 1985).

My configuration is the same as shown in the picture provided by "ionbetonnn" (part number, hardware number, and also ABT).

Thanks in advance!

I got the 1985 update sent OTA to the car when mine was on 1941 so no need to bother with 1969.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I didn't think about OTA at all to be honest.

My current version seems to be a bit too old for that.

I really don’t like how updates are handled when it comes to cars. Especially VW is - I don’t know how to say this in a non-insulting way – let’s just say "special".

It’s all very confusing... I've read about so many strange issues both before and after updates.

I will give it a try with 1941 and wait for the OTA update.

Maybe switching from 1941 to 1985 directly will work as well. We'll see...

Hi everyone,

If anyone’s wondering whether it worked - yes, it did!

Here's what I did:

- Updated main software from 1804 to 1941 -> MOI3_EU_SK_R9410L

- Updated main software from 1941 to 1985 -> MOI3_EU_SK_R9850L

- Updated radio software from 1.31.48 (version after the 1985 update) to 1.31.58 -> MQB3_LGe_Europe_v1.31.58

- Everything else will update automatically when you're done -> just give it some time

My original system information:

Device part number: 5E3035816F

Hardware: H56

Software: 1804 (now: 1985)

ABT hardware: H47

ABT software: 2092

Navigation database: 20.7 (now: 25.8 -> will update automatically from now on)

Media codec: 3.1.4

Radio database: 1.30.24 (now: 1.31.58)

You can find the main software on mibsolution.

For the radio software, it’s better to check phonostar and enter your VW part number, not the Skoda one, as it won’t return results otherwise (Skoda part number: 5E3035816F -> VW part number: 3G5035820D). I found the VW part number by searching through various forums.

So far the system seems to boot faster, works more smoothly, and feels generally more stable (e.g., no sound issues with Android Auto).

Hi everyone,

As a newbie only recently becoming the proud owner of a 2022 vRS a couple of weeks ago, I've already experienced a spell of endless re-booting so I have been reading this thread with interest. Some of the earlier links to updates are dead now but I have downloaded 1941 and 1985. Checking my settings I am on update 1889 so my question is, can I go straight to 1985 or are there recommended intermediate jumps to follow please.

Thanks in advance,

Kevin

Hi @kevhart100! Could you please share files of 1941 and 1985 versions?

Hi @Wabbelbabbel,

Few questions regarding your instruction:
1) Which exactly files you used for updating to 1941 version because I found two files for this version on mibsolution:
image.png

2) Where exactly did you find VW part number related to your Skoda part number for radio software? Because I couldn't find anything similar (my Skoda part number - 5E3035816G).

Thank you for your help in advance!

For this version, I do it in two steps: 1803->1941->1989.

1. Download both files, unzip them on your computer.

2. Copy the contents of 1941 to a flash drive (preferably a good, branded USB-C) to the root directory.

3. Insert the flash drive into the USB-C port.

4. Open/tilt the hood.

5. Start the engine (it's best not to drain the battery).

6. Hold down the Menu button until the tablet enters service mode.

7. Select "Update" and select the USB-C port where the flash drive is (it will be highlighted).

8. Select "Install."

9. Wait, wait, wait - 2-3 restarts and it's done. The whole process takes about 15-20 minutes.

10. After a while, an additional fix will probably be released via OTA.

11. Repeat the procedure with the 1989 file.

12. Enjoy the new software. ;)

If you need more information or help, send me a private message.
