Very rusty crashbar
Aargh, got 5 more images , I cant upload them. Basically, I cut out the aperture in the RH side so it matched the LH side, the airbox was already modded - R600 pikey mod. I bought these vent guide things which are meant for the Golf GTI, and mounted them the other way up to guide air into the airbox

Not coastal, West Midlands actually. Previous owner was Peterborough. I've had it 5 years now. I did a bit more than that RH opening. Forgive the one photo, I did tidy it properly afterwards! Let me see if I can post them, I'm hitting some sort of forum limit- Very rusty crashbar
Did you take the opportunity to have this bit cut open to aid induction airflow? On topic - yeah that did look rusty - how old is the car and are you coastal? Or was the previous owner coastal do you know?- Very rusty crashbar
I replaced it with a vgc used one. The way the rust was peeling off, it couldn't have had it's original rigidity in it, quite scary. Rest of car is absolutely fine.- Question Related Instrument Cluster/Trip Computer

That looks pretty bad. Is the underside of car the same or is it just the bar. If its bolt on I would be inclined to get it shotblasted and paint with galvafroid or similar and a good few top coats or just replace it. Seen a few on ebay that are in better condition and not that expensive. AlasdairAlasdair1 started following Very rusty crashbar- MOT success again
Top news, well done.- Firmware Request MST2_EU_SK_ZR_P0480T

Hi all, I've just had some work done on my 2017 Sportline 280 4x4 - waterpump, thermostat, aux belts, do88 intercooler, new horns. I was gutted and worried when I saw the state of my crashbar, you could literally peel the rust off in places Has anyone else had theirs as rusty? CheersDrAvalanche started following Very rusty crashbar- Rear pads
Hi! For your 2024 Skoda Octavia Mk4.5 facelift 1.5 TSI, the correct rear brake pads depend on the brake system fitted to your car. You could consider Ridex as a budget-friendly option, but I’d recommend checking compatibility by VIN or brake PR code before ordering, as there can be different brake setups.Hope this helps!- Firmware Request MST2_EU_SK_ZR_P0480T

Just got my sons MK1 1.2htp through another MOT. Did front swing arms and console bushes. plus a few other ball joints while I was at it. Only advisories this year are front nearside tyre worn on edge and a slightly loose wing mirror glass. Not bad for a twenty year old car. Tyre is worn probably due to front bushes being shot plus had a slow puncture so may have been run soft. Will get alignment checked and maybe a new tyre. Very happy plus so is my son. He even got me a nice bottle of single malt as a thankyou. Thanks to Pete for advice on console bolts etc. Alasdair- MIB3 map update
I formatted the 2 pen drive in the two different ways (exfat & ntfs) just in case; dunno why none of the format worked out! I also thought I didn't have to put ALL the extracted folders in the root but it didn't work too! I unzipped with 7zip and Winzip but the result didn't change! I tried everytime with exfat pen one day and another with ntfs but nothing!- MIB3 map update
Exfat is the one you should be using and only just put one stick in. It may work with ntfs but exfat is the standard designed for. @MartiniB did have issues at one point, so too another. Those are on the map threads. I seem to recall they rolled back the map updates but you need to check. Early Cupra firmware had an issue I know that. Built in windows 11 unzip is the one to use. Drag and drop out the set of files into the route directory. There should be no other files on the blank drive. Don't use a mac, if you do use cleanmydrive or similar. Dusts of the mac junk.- From Amundsen to Columbus: mission almost accomplished!
I solved the problem and now everything works; what I don't understand is why system, everytime I start the car, asks me to migrate to 334 (I actually have the 330), 334 which I heard is not still very stable as the 330. Is there a way to disable this popup? @Cairus or @East_Yorkshire_Retrofits : can You help me?- My ŠKODA App - Send Route
I tried here in Rome (Italy) and it worked fine!- MIB3 map update
I formatted a pendrive as EXFAT and another as NTFS; copied the folders directly in the root and connected (one at once) on front LEFT usbc port to update the mpas with the maps latest version (26.6) and leave the pen inserted for one day each but maps do not update! How can I do?- Power boot lid issues.
Hi. I'm having some intermittent issues that may be related to the boot lid not being detected as closed.? It's a power boot lid on an Scout Estate. Yesterday when I locked my car via the remote, the indicators flashed every couple of seconds, and the boot open warning flashed up on the dash. Today, locking works ok, but the rear wiper has stopped working. I assume the wiper does not function when the boot is open. Has anyone had these issues and fixed them, please? - Looking for free VW Group vehicle databases, VIN data and APIs for my app
Hi everyone! I'm currently developing my own automotive application for Volkswagen Group vehicles (VW, Audi, Skoda, SEAT and CUPRA). I'm trying to find free or open-source databases, APIs or other resources that provide reliable vehicle information. I'm particularly interested in: VIN decoding and vehicle identification Factory equipment and PR codes Engine codes and vehicle specifications OEM part numbers and compatibility Service and maintenance information Diagnostic data and ECU information Does anyone know where I could find this kind of data for free? Maybe there are some public databases, GitHub projects, open-source tools or APIs that I haven't discovered yet. I'm especially interested in data that can legally be used in my own application. If anyone has experience working with VW Group vehicle data or knows where developers can obtain it, I'd really appreciate any advice! Thanks in advance for your help! P.S. I accidentally posted my previous question in Polish and couldn't edit it. Sorry for the duplicate!- First test drive
I tested the Epiq (and the Peaq) on a drive from Munich to AUstria (Seefeld) and then back again. I am serioulsy thinking of replacing my Enyaq with an Epiq 55. Here's the video I made of the drive from Munich to Seefeld. https://youtu.be/1rWut1ialGM- Centre front arm rest
Dragging this up, do you need to have the correct BCM for this to work for a normal USB in the centre arm rest? With my step down being ripped apart by Skoda when doing my warranty work they have offered to pay for the parts etc so was wondering if I could go factory with this rather than factory USB socket in the arm rest and then step down (5v/12V) from the rear cig lighter to the usb.- Adaptive grille ahutter
While that will happen, Skoda's stated reason for having fitted adaptive cooling shutters to the Fabia when the Mk4 version was introduced in 2021 was (as I highlighted in my posting of October 17 above) to improve the car's aerodynamics and reduce its fuel consumption - the same reason for Skoda fitting 'aero' trims to some Fabia Mk 4 wheels. My late-2023-built Fabia Mk4 SE L car's standard specification included the aero wheel trims, but the trims were dropped from the specification for the following model-year. My car does not have the cooling shutters and, apparently, neither does the 2025 Monte Carlo Fabia owned by @Alvin600 This May 2026 article compares the Skoda Fabia Mk4 with the Mazda 2 https://carvago.com/articles/car-battle/mazda-2-vs-skoda-fabia Active cooling shutters are mentioned in the "Aerodynamics and innovation" section of the Fabia review, but I suspect that this is an assumption based on Skoda's press releases rather than the reviewer knowing it to be true. (Perhaps @BACUPIAN could check if his Fabia has the shutters?) - Very rusty crashbar
