  2. I have a rattle at low speed when breaking or accelerating and on rough roads . it sounds like a lose nut or ball bearing moving an under the phone box area. I cannot work out how to get the covers off to have a look. Any ideas appreciated . i will look to book into dealers but some distance away . Had the car 6 weeks 2.0 Tsi L&K
  3. On my mk2 octavia and sons mk1 fabia the lower outer sill and inner has an orange peel effect which is thick plastic stone chip protection then overpainted with gloss colour. They both have(had) clear plastic on rear wheel arch/sill area Alasdair
  4. No, it was there before. I only bought other wheels as they were better than the originals and came up right price locally so too good to miss. Originals have lacquer peel n blisters under the paint.
  5. Dir the problem only start after swapping wheels and tyres?
  6. Tyre pressures all fine, wheel bolts tight and torqued, swapped wheels and tyres recently and had everything balanced etc but no difference. I've replaced warped discs over the years on customer vehicles, usually abused on towing duties. Checked all bushes, hardware bolts, etc but nothing obvious. My mates on holiday currently but next option is to put it over brake tester and try to reproduce it ....... but can probably guarantee it won't do it that day.

  8. Škoda Octavia 2020 2.0 TDI, 50,000 km When I switch the ignition on (without starting the engine), I can hear an electric motor operating underneath the gear selector. When it finishes its movement, there is a single knock/clunk that can be both heard and felt through the car's chassis and dashboard. The same thing happens when I move the selector from P to N, and again when I move it back. Sometimes the knock is louder and more noticeable, and other times it's quieter. The car drives perfectly. The gearbox shifts flawlessly, and engaging R, N, and D is completely smooth with no issues.
  9. Discs and pads are like new, both borg and beck, fitted shortly before I bought it according to service history. No scoring or uneven wear to any of the pads or discs, no sign of pad deposits on discs. Sometimes it can be felt at low speed and sometimes from higher speeds such a leaving dual carriageway etc. Braking gently or aggressively doesn't appear to have any specific bearing to when it happens.

  12. Underseal, beneath the paint.
  13. Discs definitely do warp, but to do that on a TDI Octavia you would have to be descending a switchback on Everest. My money is on uneven pad material - is it during gentle braking, hard braking, or both? Have you gotten up to speed and sat on the brakes a few times?

  15. Do you mean PPF, or actual underseal?

  17. Hi Folks Got a MY23 Octavia RS, which I'm thinking about a change to an Elroq, but am concerned about range in the winter, charging times etc. Is it worth specifying a heat pump if possible? Would it be worth having a monthly charging account to get reduced charging fees? Because home charging may not be possible as I have a grade II* listed building as a house, so attachment of the charger is very unlikely to be allowed, so public charging will be the norm. What packs would you recommend adding to the car, I'm considering a 85 model for the range, possibly a Sportline or Edition Thanks
  18. Hi everyone, Shwmae (Hello) from Wales! I have a 2021 Fabia MK3 Facelift Colour Edition 1.0 TSI @140hp 260nm It's my first car and what an amazing vehicle it's been so far! See you on the roads!

  20. That is AC, Parks or Western for you. Try John Clark Skoda.
  21. I better not, need to get used to all that brutal power increase before going for more 😂
  22. Im asking if anyone has a link or contact, skoda dealers up here tend to be a bit weird at service and parts departments in my experience.. Also, are they the same size as different models? Kinda universal fitment as it were..
  23. Well, started the car to go down town and got Automatic Headlights System failure warning. What??? Eeeek!!!!😲😲 Pulled mirror housing off and connector for rain sensor was out. Must have dislodged when tidying wires under head lining.. Reconnected. Working. Phew.

  26. I've had a rusting bearing wreck an ABS wheel sensor, it was on my 2011 Audi S4, for a few years prior to this failure, I could hear a slight scraping noise, initially only using that car after it had been left unused for a few weeks, then after maybe a mile or so, that noise stopped. Then it never stopped - then when driving it out of the garage to go for its MOT, the ABS etc lights came on, game over! So, what I discovered is, that all the bigger VW Group cars do not have any protection built in for the, at least, front, ABS sensor from road grit etc - small cars like Polo/Fabia/Ibiza have a plastic shroud to help avoid this to an extent. What does help, I discovered, is that if the wheel bearings "bleed" out a very small amount of the oil in the wheel bearings, hub and bearing inner face rusting is not normally an issue, if the wheel bearings do not "bleed" out any of the oil from the wheel bearing grease, then hub inner face and bearing face rusting can be an issue, especially when combined with only using that car periodically in winter weather. After getting the ABS sensor replaced by the MOT garage, I removed the new ABS sensor, cleaned its hole in the hub carrier out, then used a piece of dowelling cut at what I thought was a suitable angle and forced that down to contact the inner face of the wheel bearing - then rotated the wheel a few times in both directions, then applied lots of ceramic grease to the ABS sensor and refitted it. I examined the new ABS only a few days/miles after my MOT garage had replaced it, and it too had started to show signs of scoring - from contacting the rust on the bearing inner surface, so I'd expect that that new ABS sensor would have only lasted a few thousand miles if I had not cleaned up the inner face of the bearing. Getting access to that inner face to do a proper job on your car will involve removing the drive shaft - if you want to avoid a repeat of this issue. As said, you need to drive the car to clear the stored faults in some of the controllers even although you have removed the fault and cleared the ABS controller fault code.
  27. Hi all, Im looking to change from chrome to gloss black the round badge and lettering on the back of my wife's fabia, does anyone have a link or contact for buying these anywhere, good quality ones that will last well and are original size?
  28. Did Skoda apply any stone chip protection to the lower area of the sills as standard?
  29. Worthwhile getting the kit with the oil filler cap as that pushes the combined increase closer to 15bhp. 😂
