  2. Factory. It’s pretty crap to be honest - gets brittle and starts to peel. It’s worst on the jacking points if someone has ever used an emergency jack, or one with the incorrect pad. For the most part, it does the job well enough.
  3. Ever since I got my new Octavia combi/estate "Scout" in September 2020 (last of the MkIII Facelift, manufactured April 2020, 2.0DSG-7 automatic Diesel, full LED headlights package, but standard 2013-era bulbs in the interior), one of the two cargo area lights has flickered. By "flicker" I mean, I open the cargo area rear hatch, and the right side light comes on and stays on solid, and the left side light tends to not come on, or to come on and off intermittently if I tap it or bump that side panel as I'm loading/unloading. If I tap the lens of the left-side light a couple of times until it turns on, it will stay on unless/until I happen to bump into it/ the left side panel again. The cause is pretty clearly a loose wire/connection behind the side panel, because I recently changed out the bulb from the factory original 5W halogen to a much brighter LED bulb, and it still does exactly the same thing. Since it doesn't seem to be the blocky connector of the lens-and-bulb assembly that snaps into a ~2cm wide x 6cm long rectangular cutout in the cargo area interior side panel, as I removed that and reconnected it as part of replacing the halogen lightbulb within the lens unit with the LED bulb, I assume it's the flimsy two-wire connector which provides the blocky connector to the lens, and then disappears behind the panel to somewhere I can't see. Any guidance on how to get at the other end of that flimsy 2-wire connector, to see what might be loose, and try to tighten or otherwise repair it? (I fear that I'll have to remove the interior left-side panel, and of course I don't want to break anything...) thanks, -Jay
  4. Thanks for the replies. I have got and seen the Wheel / Tyre recommendation list for the Kamiq in the Skoda workshop manual. As googling on the www came up with the suggestion that it is possible to run low profile snow chains on 18" wheels I wanted to know if anyone here has done this. Tyre wise the all-season would enable snow driving. A second set of wheels is not an option because of space issues.
  5. Snap. My 2016 280 L&K estate is at 76k & is also developing a few funny noises over rough surfaces, mainly from the back. I can't pin down where it's coming from yet but, like you, I suspect a few suspension items / bushes may need replacing soon. It's still on the original DCC shocks & springs although the springs have been advisories on the last 2 MOT's for corrosion. Best I get on a run is 36mpg & 26mpg for local stuff. Revo stage 1 software for 360bhp has not altered the mpg & I run it on 99RON all the time. I still love the car & it's probably time to give it bit more love & a decent detail valet & paint protection.

  7. Ideal. I'll have a little browse :)
  8. H7 I believe. As for kits, no idea now it's been that long since I looked. Car was punted in early 2019. Probably best asking in the MkII forum. There's still a load of useful info there.
  9. I can't remember if they are H4 or H7 now coming to think of it. You able to drop some kits that work? I hate driving at night at the moment lol
  10. I found HIDs were the best and cheapest option but that may have now changed.
  11. @Tech1e Seems to be your to man for CC retro fits. Hoping to be able to book mine in with him and get it done.
  12. +1 This - @Tech1e would you be so kind to reach out so I can look at getting CC fitted and my blower motor changes? TIA
  13. That's usually the low pressure fuel pump priming the fuel system.
  14. Halogen Headlights in projectors unfortunately. I do have AC, heated seats and TPMS though. I guess I can't complain too much.
  15. Hi all - Mk2 Skoda Fabia 5J. I have the genuine VCDS cable and I'm looking to see if anyone has any ideas for some nice tweaks I can make, e.g Anti Hijack. Would be appraised if you could let me know of any that come to mind and how you went about coding it. Appreciated, Trent
  16. Welcome. There's a decent chunk of MkII stuff in that forum. Did yours come with halogen headlights in projector housings or were you lucky?
  17. Today
  18. Hi all. New to the group, browsing around. Own a Mk2 Fabia 1.4 TDI. Nice enough car, seems strangely spec'd though. Any advice or knowledge to be passed about these? I own VCDS Genuine too, so also any nice tweets to make here? Trent

  20. Frightening experience today – got locked inside my car (2022 Octavia 1.5 TSi SEL). Unlocked ok (by touching door handle) and got in, then noticed the hazards flashed once, then I tried to start the car as usual with the key in my pocket and it was dead – just a sign on the dash saying “Key Not recognised”. Tried putting the key near the start button and still nothing. Fiddled with the key buttons to no avail, then found the doors and windows had all locked from inside and I couldn’t get out! I tried all sorts, then after a few minutes, whatever I did or didn’t do in my panic, it started as normal and everything was working again – and it has been ok since. The key battery appears to be well up, as the red light flashes ok and the fob works the locks from a considerable distance remotely, so I don’t suspect that the battery is tired. Barring a malfunction of some kind (this hasn’t happened in the six months I have had the car), I am wondering if any of the following might have triggered the problem? · Interference from another car in the car park. · I was parked close to a very heavy steel barrier. · My wife and I unlocked both the front doors (by touch) at the very same time as each other. Also, what exactly does “Please Check Safelock” mean on the dash every time I switch off and might this have a bearing? I would be grateful for any opinions and has this happened to anyone else? Thanks in advance.
  21. If there aren’t any photos it didn’t happen 😉
  22. Not been in here for a while... hit the magjc number last month. This is a 2016 CJXA 280. Just been to la rochelle in france and back, averaged 36 on the Autoroutes, cruise set to 132km/h. 4 up and lots of luggage. It used about half a litre of oil on the way down. It seems to use about a litre between services so around 6000 miles of town tootling and odd m-way trips as the uni- home taxi service. So 10 years nealry and 100k miles and still on original dsg shocks and springs, but getting slight rattles from the front on the awful roads we have so thinking about what bits might need replacing soon. Assuming the big lower wishbone with the big bushing, any other likely bits to do while we're in there? (All standard spec)

  28. Fine, if that is the closed-mind approach, then I'm out of this thread, and you can all get back to making yourselves feel good about things. I have already made the changes to the system, so I now no longer follow this thread.
