They might well try the no perforation route as per usual. But to them the hole might not be visible, but when you get to grinding down the paint there are tiny perforations in the metal. Hi everyone, I have a 2012 Skoda Superb 2.0 TDI 170 DSG, FWD, 250,000 km with an annoying clunk from the front, felt mostly through the floor. It happens when accelerating, releasing the throttle, braking or sometimes cornering. It usually clunks once when the load changes direction. I can also reproduce it while driving in N and braking. An interesting point is that the problem gets progressively worse after driving a few kilometres. It can be almost absent when starting cold, then the clunk becomes more frequent and noticeably stronger after 10–15 km. Both front driveshafts have just been replaced with GKN units, with no change at all. DSG/differential and engine mounts have already been checked by workshops. My next suspects are front control arm bushes or subframe movement. Has anyone experienced something similar? Thanks! Xavier, Switzerland

Hi Rob, According to Auto Doc they are the correct Pads. Not a fan of Evri but we can give it a try. Paypal would be ok for an inclusive price of £61.00 for Pads and Delivery. Not sure about the procedure but you can please let me know. Keith

Probably already a topic thread somewhere but I thought I would share. My washers stopped working without and indication of a low water level. I checked fuse 42 behind the glove box, all fine there. Still no pump action, wheel off and inner arch off, no visible issues but I couldn’t get the connections off so put back together. Car is under warranty so it’s going back in for a diagnostics. Might be because the headlight washers are controlled by the BCM on a high voltage circuit? Anyone else had similar?

It is ridiculous. The rust has only just started. It hasn't been serviced by Skoda for the last few years but even if it had they wouldn't have spotted the rust nearly a year before it appeared.

Up till 2012 or so with Service Books there was 2 pages after the service page with a car diagram and you put where any damage was on the vehicle. Poor repair or no repair. Then it went to being done on a palm top device. This carry on with a Free Car Wash after a service. It should be done before a service and that person should be trained to spot damage not cause it, or the tech then has a clean car to check. Outside and under when on the ramp. Body inspections are like road tests at a service. False pretences / fraud by main dealers that charge a premium and the Manufacturers / importers conspiring in the deception

Hey john. Thanks for that very comprehensive update. I was towing myself at the weekend and the passenger protective system fired off many times, which, apart from being potentially dangerous, really ****ed me off. If I was offered a skoda retractable towbar I would get it done in a moment. In fact I'm going to chance my arm with skoda and see how I get on. But for you....happy towing.

Sadly even with a brand new car which has supposedly had a PDI done by a trained person it is important to check levels at hand over then when home or next day to compare. Also tyre pressures because if they are set poorly or never set then that gives an idea of the dudes / dudettes being hopeless and not giving a damn.

If the other module doesn’t work then it may well be cheaper to buy one and get you to connect than get a garage to code it! I will consider it. Although I’m not sure there’s any other retrofits I will do that will need it.

I have been looking at this too and I don’t think you can just add the extra buttons. If you look on the back of the buttons you will see 10 pins (two rows of 5). On my car (a mk 3 scout) it looked like the wires on the car side are not there. Not sure where the other side of the wires would end up the ECU maybe, maybe wiring diagram would help.

Some progress made. I thought while I wait for the new module come I would do some fault finding on the sensors. Luckily I started fault finding at the plug end. Starting by checking pinout. It would seem my eyes are not very good at distinguishing between 10 and 18 and I’d managed to pin one side of the plug backwards. Repinned it and now just the dataset faults remain. Hopefully the swapping if module corrects this.

The Skoda response really is just bull**** - it's clearly a corrosion issue and has absolutely nothing to do with whether mechanical parts were serviced or not... We've had Skoda's for 25 years now and I don't recall them EVER doing a bodywork inspection as part of servicing.

Is your 2025 Octavia is a facelift model? I’d assume so, else it’d be one of the last of the pre-fl models. What is your query about traffic and road closures? Mine has done that from day 1; really quite helpful. Maybe a function of your user permissions - something to do with location 🤷‍♂️ On my pre-fl car there is a setting to save the PIN in the infotainment system; yes, reduces security a bit but massively reduces the faff! I leave my climate control on Auto, with temps set at 21C +/-1; the car retains that setting. IIRC, that syncs to the Škoda servers ‘cos on the rare occasion my wife drives it as her user and sets different temperatures it sets back to my preference when my user is selected.

Skoda , Seat and VW UK and Germany, Spain and Czechia know a fundamental design and manufacturing fault and the corrosion comes from behind the metal and owner sees and behind the paint. So the have had 17 years to be sure Dealership employees check while doing body inspections. Issue a TPI /TSB. What ever some desk jockey says about not being corrosion is just the usual P!$$ take from their Customer Services / Warranty contractors.

Blimey that Alpine is ugly! Too much 'addenda' at the front and the wheels are awful! All in my opinion of course...
