  1. What are you taking about? That would be completely mad! There are three adjustment screws: - vertical for dipped/main beam (same bulb) - horizontal for dipped/main beam (same bulb) - vertical for the fog lamp I've circled them here:
  2. Hi all, I've been kicking this around for a while, forgot to update you. 🤔. TL;DR; I'm aiming to offset our communities impact on the planet at https://ecologi.com/briskoda To that end, I personally do stuff, but I'm looking at the community, our impact, principally in delivering the community to you. I invite you to read on for yourself too. I had a few options, like a co2 neutral data center etc... That maywell happen when I can find one I think is a good match. In the short term though, I'm planting trees and buying co2 offset on behalf the forum. Which is essentially guesstimating how many tonnes of CO2 we burn for the servers/laptops to provide the forum. I've hooked up with Ecologi , if you signup to offset your personal CO2/trees, the planet gets bonus trees. CO2 The co2 is fairly easy, I'm covering it in excess this year. I'm also lumping in any miles I do for briskoda, which is nada so far this year. The assumption for our servers/network is roughly 430kWh per month in electricity. There is more in the whole chain, but it's almost impossible to calculate. This is about 754 miles driving for an average family car, or 300 ish kgs of CO2. I can only offset in tonnes, and the minimum is two tonnes. So this is easy, we're offsetting 2 tonnes per month. This I believe covers the pico/milliseconds of energy use over the millions of devices brisky data passes over to reach your eyes. Trees Trees, quite a few need to be planted for all the paper we've all used over the years. So inline with the overall goal of 1%, this roughly equates to 100 trees on top of the CO2 offset per month. Your own tree Each month from April 2021 we'll 'gift' a tree to a member. These are trees in the uk, with a what three word reference. You can save that and watch it grow from space I guess... in theory you can even go and give it a hug. Each month from the contributors to this topic/purchasers of tree clumps via our shop, all become eligible for each month. So buy once, your in the pot till I get bored, or the whole planet is a forest, in which case I'll be long gone, and so will you, mother nature 1, human 0. Month Winner April 2021 TBD The Future? There are some personal goals, I have quite a polluting hobby, driving lots of miles to climb a bit of rock. I'll be covering those of personally. Looking forwards for the community, there is much I think I can and we can do. I'm going to sit down one day and try to figure out the total since 2002... bit of fag packet maths required and it will have to be an overestimation too, especially for the miles driven for briskoda fun and business. So here's where your input comes in , thanks for reading this far too. Before I go much further, any other suggestions or schemes, maybe closer to home? I did email a few uk projects but no response, or not deep enough pockets, which brought my sad face on. If you want to add a tree or too, you can. Either under your own account, or add to the briskoda plantation/co2. : https://ecologi.com/briskoda and finally, they do have a uk tree planting scheme... which is what I was waiting for, although a tree is a tree. Thoughts? Each month I' also purchasing a UK tree planting slot. These are given initially to tree planters and other special awards. When exhausted or a spare slot, they will be awarded to a random member of freedom each month. 3. How is 82k high mileage for a VAG diesel? Mine's on 132k, my Touran was 165k and our Roomie is 110k - and all run like swiss watches
  4. Removing the DPF is an MOT fail in the UK.
  5. ^^^ Regular servicing at a non VW Group approved or establishment with licensed equipment can mean that TPI's from VW / Skoda are 'not seen' by technicians / mechanics. Even where cars from 2009-2012 were at main dealers the cars owners might not have been made aware of the potential issues with the faulty designed or manufactured OEM parts. There was a known issue, as in known by VW Group with early Euro 5 1.2 TSI to late 2011 when a TPI was issued and uprated chain tensioner kits available, The issue with these that might fail and should be replaced if the originals. There are vehicles still running the original parts and even ones still failing. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/435977-timing-chain http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/344005-12tsi-cam-chain-problem http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/344005-12tsi-vam-chain-problem/page/8/ See this link in page 8 of the link above.

  7. I’d be interested to hear of anyone else’s views or experiences regarding this topic. I collected my new Karoq 1.5 Tsi SEL DSG 2 days ago, and very pleased with it I am too. In my eagerness to get out of the showroom and actually enjoy driving it, I forgot to ask if the car had been supplied with the new keys. A couple of incidents over the first 2 days made me wonder though. I always drive with my keys in my pocket (I had a Passat previously, with keyless ignition, but not keyless entry, so became accustomed to having the keys in my pocket), currently jeans pocket, but jacket pocket in cooler weather. A few times when getting out of the car after driving, I’ve attempted to lock the car by touching the sensor on the handle, and it has refused to lock, leading me to press the lock button on the key to lock it. I began to wonder if it actually did have the new keys, and I’ve just conducted an experiment. I taped the key to the front driver’s side tyre, then checked that I could unlock/lock the car by touching the handle, which I could. I then left the key there for 20 minutes, then went out to try to unlock the car by gripping the door handle. It wouldn’t unlock. I removed the key from the tyre, gave it a little shake for good measure, then tried again, and the car unlocked. I don’t know if this is sufficiently conclusive to prove that the keys do have motion sensors. I could check with the dealer, but I’m not overly confident that they would be able to provide a definitive answer. Anyone have any observations? Thanks in anticipation.
  8. Thanks again ! I'll add that to the list.
  9. Yes I know what you mean. Unfortunately I don't know what the difference is either. Another one that was used on our cars was FCM.
  10. Mine is a 2003 1.4 mpi and it has a FNK box.
  11. That may be the grid if it rains too much to run qually. Both Albon and Hamilton in car handling trouble today, but Riccardo even worse off after crashing his Renault. Can't wait to watch F1 at Mugello!
  12. UPDATE: Finally got an answer from Conti regarding the installation of this belt. All they did was send me a link to a video (in German) addressing precisely this topic, so they must be aware that many people are confused. Don't know why they don't write in in 27 languages on the package. In the video, the guy says he "pulls the belt immediately out of the packaging and turns it around a few times, and then doesn't know which way it came, which is EXACTLY what I did! They know! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8uaRbcWb6Yo I had to copy-paste the German closed captions into Google translate, but was able to determine the answer: The "webbed" side of the belt (the woven cloth side) rides towards the alternator pully. (That's how I ended up installing it anyway, so saves me the trouble of turning it around). Hope this is useful to future seekers. Cheers.
  13. Count me out on that challenge but thankfully your camera skills, and hopefully the acquisition of a polarising filter, have improved your photography contributions since then.
  14. Mugello confirmed as race 9 on September 13th and Sochi in Russia 2 weeks later as confirmed race 10.
  15. Daft point to make I know but cars are moving environments subject to lots of vibrations. I've experienced a variety of good and bad USB cables that can lose connection due to vibration - probably because of the manufacturing tolerances o the cables and sockets. Have any of you experiencing stutter checked the plug at the end of the cable to ensure it makes a decent connection and is vibration-proof? I only ask as I've had to 'nip up' the metal outer of the plugs on some of my cables (regardless of cost or quality) to ensure they make a decent, vibration-proof connection to whatever they are connected to...
  16. Folks - there are some rules that need to be adhered to with either Apple Carplay or Android Auto. Firstly, make sure that any power saving features on your phone are switched OFF. If you have power saving services enabled, it will cause slowness and random connectivity issues with your MIB system. Secondly, firmware of the system....the firmware of the MIB systems can sometimes be very flaky. I found this on my 2016 Octavia Scout and on my 2018 Octavia VRS. In both cases, a firmware update fixed the wierdnesses of carplay/auto connectivity. I ended up doing a firmware update myself on my 2019 Scout on my Amundsen system. Yes, phones need to be the latest firmware too. Please assume that most Skoda dealers will not understand or be interested in the MIB firmware issues on your car....it takes time/money to fix them and generally unless you directly show the technician what the fault is, they won't fix it.
  17. The other feature of having a heated windscreen which no one so far seems to have mentioned is that it's also linked to the car's climate control and doesn't just trigger on cold, frosty mornings. The system cleverly detects if there's any condensation/mist on the inside of the windscreen and auto demists the screen. Takes circa 30 seconds but is a godsend if you've parked up briefly to get a paper or a coffee with two damp Dalmatians in the boot. Frequently come back to a very misted up car and the screen is clear to drive away in moments.

I have one fitted for about 1 year. Immediately noticed the increase in performance (approx. 15%) and increase in mpg (however it is a company car and I don't pay for fuel) Regarding the cleaning, it can be done overnight after looking at the YouTube video to get it right. Overall, the car has become a lot better to drive, smoother and punchier. hope this helps.
  19. The thing with forums though is you only see the posts about the things that don’t work and not the things that do. If you think of the hundreds of thousands of these units out there and how many complaints of stuttering you’ve got on here it’ll be a minority. But also which unit do you have and are you talking about as the unit in your other half’s Polo could be a totally different model especially as it’s a couple of years old isn’t it??? Ours is a MY19 Colour Edition with the Radio Swing Plus. (3 buttons either side of the screen with SD card slot located centrally at the bottom). This is the unit fitted in the majority of cars in the range along with the other VAG marques as it’s the standard unit. If you have the head unit with 4 buttons either side you have the Amunsden upgrade option which isn’t as common a unit AFAIK. This is a picture of our HU in our car and is the model that has worked perfectly with an iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone SE and iPhone SE (2nd gen) with a 30cm Anker lightning cable for the last 12 months since the car has been on the road.
  20. Glad you did not get charged and they could confirm the noise. Hopefully nothing serious for the future.
  21. So - my 32G Sat Nav card arrived from Riga, Latvia today. Original Skoda bit. Placed into my SD1 card slot - fired up the Amunsden - it worked first time,,,no fuss and no errors. You can upgrade from a 16G card to a 32G card without any issues. You do need the original Skoda bit for either your Amunsden MIB1 or 2 system though - no 3rd party coded SD cards, cos they won't work.
  22. couple of garden shots taken today with my samsing A20e. taken by my 5yr old, who asked to borrow my camera for a minute, after staring up into the burch for a few mins... look closely he got a decent shot of a fledging sitting on a branch

Hi,I’m Dee and I live in North Yorkshire by the sea. I have just changed from Skoda Yeti to a Skoda Fabia.
  24. Hello everybody! I'm a proud and happy owner of an Octavia 1.6 TDi of 2016. I was searching for Skoda owners foruns and found this one. I hope to learn a lot and share some stories also. Thanks for having me!
  25. Even if they build a dedicated lane for each and every turn-off, people in the wrong lane would still puck it up....... A flyover, for each and every turn-off / exit could work, Lol................... until the person realising they've still got the wrong lane just stops dead, wondering how they can get across, and then starts reversing, Lel. (laughs even louder).
  26. Thanks for the heads up,your a star🤩

It's to basically run all the auxiliary 12v systems. And to operate the door looks and remote locking etc. Otherwise the DC to DC converter would need to continually run to provide power to these systems which would consume power in itself. Even Tesla's have a 12v battery!

@Brockysuperb Have you tried it in "hybrid" mode where it uses the battery/engine as it feels? Very smooth you cannot notice the transition and it means the battery lasts many more miles. It does look to favour the battery. It will be interesting when I eventually put some fuel in whet Fuelly shows as the overall MPG 🙂 Still waiting for the new manual, may have to give the dealer a shout 😞 John
  29. Since I can't edit my post (probably because I'm new): I added some sizes (there are now 20, 30, 40 and 50mm height increase) and some pictures of the thingy in use. Please excuse the bad quality, my mobile phone isn't the best.
  30. Gearbox is fine so far. It gets the power down decent as it’s got a diff and PS4 tyres although in the rain today I’m getting wheel spin in 3rd at 65mph.....
  31. Ok after a good read of this thread and seeming as my 17 plate 2.0L Diesel SEL Octavia has now come out of warranty I've decided to go " teabagless ". My original expansion bottle has the part no. 5Q0121407G and is the version that has an inner and outer chamber with the " teabag " situated in the outer chamber and therefore no way of removing it. Interestingly, my mate's 16 plate 1.6L Diesel Estate has the single chamber expansion bottle which he fished the " teabag " out, yet it had the exact same part no. So the same part no. covers single and double chamber expansion bottles. For peace of mind I've now fitted the 5Q0121407M single chamber bottle as referenced in this thread at a cost of approx. £29 sourced from my local VW dealer. I couldn't be bothered to wait 2 days for TPS to order one in for me. It was roughly a ten minute job to do and I even managed to keep the fluid from flowing out of the old expansion bottle and then transfer it to the new one saving me the need of topping it up. I've cut out a section of my old two chamber bottle and posted a picture of it for those who are curious to see what it looks like. I'm a bit unsure though whether the teabag was behind or in front of the two plastic ridges. Also, but not really sure, it looks as if the corner of my " teabag " might be starting to become loose so thankfully I might have done this mod just in time.

I drive a 2.0 TDi. only reporting what I have experienced.
  33. Don't forget that the fog light cannot individually be adjusted as the whole light unit is one piece, so turning that screw is also going to alter the settings for the dipped and main beam.
  34. Only 44k unbelievable
  35. The only whiny noise I get is when my wife sits in the passenger seat..... 🤭
  36. Nope, the offers for the full thing were ridiculous even with the spec. To many cheap (rear seats out) so called trackcars on the sites means no one wants to pay. Broke it made more so they did me a favor really. Over a year to build and less than 2 days to dismantle and have it all sold
