Well after 10 years in 3 Yetis, and prior to that 4 years with a superb, I am collecting a new Karoq Edition today. Took my Yeti in for the 3 year brake fluid and Haldex service, and left having bought this car yesterday from the showroom. I had been intending to keep the Yeti for some time, even bought the optional 5 year warranty when new, but this Karoq just stood out and I couldn't resist it. I suppose 10 years in virtually the same car was enough; I have never previously had the same model twice in a row! A 190ps, in the special black paint with several extras fitted, more or less what I would have piucked if ordering one from the factory, and delivered next day with a really good offer on to shift cars out before the new reg change.
  2. I’ve owned my Superb Estate (called BOF) for 16 months now, and have put together a YouTube review of what I really think of the car after owning it/using it over that period. if you’re interested then please feel free to click the link below. It’s not a monetised channel, it’s just something I do for a bit of fun..
  3. After three great years of ownership (and 6 weeks of messing about waiting for VWFS to remove my personal plate) my Superb was collected by BCA yesterday. I'm told its headed off to their auction in Brighouse, so if anyone is looking for a 3 years old / 55k miles Skoda Superb 2.0 TDi 190 Sportline Hatch DSG Auto 5dr then have a look. Driven sensibly (at least most of the time) and regularly detailed by me, I'd say this is one of the best out there for its age and mileage. Could be a bargain if anyone on here is currently looking.
  4. Agree with majority of this. Totally agree that Canton is not the best sound system available - but I guess my query was more along the lines of is it a big enough upgrade on the standard system in the Superb that it’s worth having as a “must have” option when searching for a 1 year old car. I think all the comments suggest it is. But Yehh, I’m under no illusion that it’s the best sound available - it’s just the best Skoda have available. And quite good at that. About in line with Skoda’s philosophy - very good without breaking the bank.
  5. That's why the average Tesla owner covers 12,000 miles per year because there are no compromises either with the product range or the charging infrastructure to support it.
  6. Welcome to EV ownership. 😝 I've been slagging off the poor rapid charging infrastructure for years now. It's simply not reliable enough to do long journey. Only one brand provides a good enough charging infrastructure, enabling seamless travel throughout Europe, like owning a fossil car.
  7. Honestly, I think the dealer is being very reasonable here. You can do a lot worse than a full refund if you change the car with them and only £300 depreciation in approximately 6 months and go elsewhere. Personally unless you trust the trader, I would go elsewhere or at least carry out your own HPI check before any new car. EDIT: Ignore all of that, I see you managed to get a full refund, and I should have read to the end of the thread. Nicely done and to be honest with that being the case, I would say the dealer went beyond what they were obliged to do by law.
  8. Picked up my new Kamiq 1.5tsi dsg four days ago. love it already, so far, so much lighter and more responsive than the Karoq, loads of space, quiet , very smooth and already 47mpg. My twelfth Skoda and hope it will be equal to the others ( octavia, vrs, superb/ estate karoq etc)
  9. Snapped this one on silver paint, part way through a correction.
  10. I'm forever buying stuff I don't need. Not just cars!
  11. Skoda Camberley checked the car today and Bluetooth is up to date and working correctly. Every other phone we have tried works just fine on the car (we've tested iPhone 6s & 7, Samsung Galaxy S8 and S20). So I called Apple and to cut a very long story short (with very long wait times and the representatives following a script) it seems that Apple have changed the Bluetooth hardware and subsequent software in the latest generation of phones and blame the car manufacturer for 'not keeping up'. So beware. iPhone 11 and SE 2nd gen Bluetooth won't work with your Superb Mk3.
  12. Hi Mat, try googling plastic ball stud, or take a look at 'Snaploc' vibration and noise-decoupling mounts. If you were to drill and tap the manifold webbing you really want a coarser thread to screw into the plastic - although I have seen one type that looks as if the threaded section is self-tapping, which would be ideal if you could get some with the correct size ball head.
  13. Yes and no. Interior and electrical has changed a whole lot, the only thing inside that you touch that hasn’t been changed is the headlight switch haha, everything else has been changed! If you are on Android it doesn’t really matter but the next gen dongle will likely be updated for longer. If you are on iOS you need the new one. I have it and I love it. You need the PRO pack to do long coding but that’s just a software download. Mine hasn’t done this, there is a bit of latency but otherwise it’s been flawless.
  14. Glad to see you're back on the forum Simon. Always enjoy reading your threads. Looking forward to the updates.
  15. Brun, no, ventilated seats are an optional extra
  16. Hammerite used to do a very good match but it isn't available anymore. I've just ordered some Granville paint on line as I've heard that's a close match. It hasn't arrived yet so I'll let you know what it's like when it does.
  17. Yes. When I bought the next gen version, they hadn’t sorted out the IOS app other than to use the OBDEleven mini apps. Since then the main app got updated and you can now do adaptations and long coding on IOS.
  18. Yes they are the same for all skoda alloys. I have origamis on mine, good choice sir! 😁👍
  19. Welcome back! Looks like a tidy motor!
  20. Selling my autecs, got bored of the grey colour. Going for a silver ATS racelight in 19 x 8.5j et 45 (10kg)
  21. The bad charging experience is not directly due to poor government legislation. The key is manufacturers need to actually want to sell a car that is able to offer equal end user experience to their fossil fuelled counterparts. Currently no ICE manufacturer is happy to push EV and the lack of investment into rapid charging infrastructure shows this. Business model for charging operators is simple, blanket cover as much roads as possible with chargers that are used as often as possible. This means single chargers everywhere. But single charger are unreliable as means of continuing one's journey. A single charger can be in-use, causing one to wait up to 30 minutes, and a single charger can be broken, requiring plan B. With multiple chargers at a location, it means virtually zero probability needing to wait full length of charging time, it also means probably of all chargers broken is very low. But business case for installing multiple charger hubs is not so clear cut. The fewer the charger per location, the higher its utilisation rate, thus the higher return on investment. But to get high utilisation rate, it means end user will likely have to wait -> bad user experience. Car manufacturers need to invest in charging operators to provide the initial investment for multiple large charging hubs along trunk routes. This, in turn, gives better end user experience and pushes EV as fossil car replacement. But which ICE manufacturer want to strangle their golden ICE goose?
  22. Those in the Scottish Government past and present that promise plenty like Alex Salmond, Keith Brown, Nicola Sturgeon and the present plonker that is Transport Minister only bother about the Central Belt and a bit of spending here and there or promises of, and neglect many transport routes important to the economy of Scotland. Whisky, Fish / Seafood, Timber and Tourism Routes. Keith Brown MSP could not and will not sort out Winter Road maintenance, By-passes taking decades and dueling of roads as well has never been a priority. What chargers there are are out of order or not fit for purpose in many cases. Being driven around by 'public servants' means that Nicola is no more switched on to the state of the infrastructure than Alex was as he went from Grace & Favour home to 5 star hotels as he went about the Governments business and his own personal business. You get as much work and value for money out of the 'Elected Members' as you do from this guy. Only he is free and there all the time for a photo opportunity, The Scottish Government Ministers make sure there is something in it for them when they turn up to be seen promising the earth and poo.
  23. And I was told that Santa Claus climbed down the chimney that we didn't have, I believed it at the time. What sort of alert would it display? - Danger, you will rip your gearbox to pieces, recode immediately?
  24. you could still potentially turn a profit on it though? get it straightened out with some diy and flog it on. even if you only make a couple of hundred quid..
  25. @SashaGrace As I have the same wireless Carplay mode as you, have had any problems with autoplay? Some times it connects and the trace plays exactly from where it starts, another time connects but then play 1 second before pausing. Firmware is the latest as per the methodology. Not the end of the world but is it a bug or a 'feature'...
  26. Have a read of this for starters!
  27. Aren't 2nd gen compatible with IOS?

@shyVRS245 my usual 156 miles in 3 hour route became 265 miles and lasted 7 hours. But yesterday was extraordinary in the need to find roads that were not at a standstill with flooding and a way to keep rolling along. Even in my 4x4 it would have been an adventure. Today maybe 6 hours for 300 miles.

How many hours did your journey take from leaving your home to completion including charging time (for the 300 anticipated miles to be driven)?

That is really encouraging. All other things being equal EV energy consumption is directly related to speed. However it sounds like the your inadvertent drafting of other vehicles at 50-55 mph would have significantly reduced your aero drag and energy consumption, increasing your real range. In the early days of the Tesla S, a Scandinavian couple managed to near double the official range on a charge but I think their average speed was something like 18kph. I think your expectation of reduced winter range is realistic with reduced battery efficiency and cabin heating. A warm garage for your baby could make a bit of difference though . Your short EV run to the shops will still monster any ICE vehicle in any conditions though as their consumption is always at its worst after first start.

    Depends on the lease type.
  32. Well I do have full leather seats, and in this heat, the fact they're ventilated means they're an absolute joy - lovely and cool. 😁😁

But that does not stop the glare and blinding oncoming drivers as the light is not focused correctly because the relfector is designed for a Halogen bulb.

All they need to do with LA is to simply reverse the default setting to 'OFF' If you want it active you would simply select it from the menu and hey presto, poltergeist assisted driving ! The same could be done with the stop/start. I regularly switch mine off due to it being unpredictable. Hopefully this will be an option in the near future with the 'clamidia' app or whatever its called ...
  35. Epic fails. I will get a TESLA soon. Driven through floods that cars and vans had conked out in. Did a 60 mile diversion. Tried 5 charge points. Either car park so charging blocked off. Or out of order. Would not work / accept any card. So insta volt used in Newton means to do a splash and dash and get on my way. 260 miles done and 50 more today. Lovely weather now but what a PITA. Lots of emergency vehicles heading North so Stirling direction. Unmarked Volva XC 40 included in off white.
  36. Williams now withdraw appeal against Racing Point, so all the Mercedes teams are aligned. Only Renault who started it, and Ferrari (who cheat anyway) left in. RedBull not getting involved, apart from Horner sniping at Mercedes as usual. I think RedBull Racing probably have plenty to hide about copying - what with both their teams being supplied by (marginally) 3rd party company Red Bull Technology.
  37. Excellent news - congratulations! Hopefully mine won't be far behind! 😀
  38. The Chrome treatments r completed 😊 The front bumper now has matching trim with the sides n rear tail lights. I also used black vinyl to blacken the chrome bit on the lower grille. Looks like the factory L&K trim now. Saved myself almost a grand had I sourced the original Chrome trim bits. Pleased with the results 👍
  39. Indeed. I’ve had bigger petrol engines (2.0T, 2.5T) that you can drive like a diesel. Smaller though and you can’t really do it.
  40. Tonight's sunset from Sandbanks in Poole, I'd missed yesterday's so I was glad it was just as good as yesterday's sunset
  41. Look at the top of this forum. VCDS mods can be done through OBD eleven.

Just not possible. Not one of your most intelligent sentences.
  43. A 2006 is a Mk1, so this is in the wrong place, I'll ask a moderator to move it. Can you post a photo of the front of your engine, with any engine top cover removed? I'm slightly surprised that a 2006 1.2 even has an EGR valve, as the BME engine code dropped that item in December 2005 to the best of my knowledge.
  44. Well driven. You obviously enjoyed relatively flowing traffic , used a combination of smooth steady throttle and read the road well to avoid wasting momentum and fuel. Ignore the doubters and critics who seem to get a buzz out of 'having their say' on this site.

A (pleasantly) surprising range update... Yesterday I took the car on its first extended trip on the open road. This was with a little trepidation as it was a 90-mile round trip with a fair few hills. Naturally, I gave it a full charge overnight beforehand to be as prepared as possible. With an official average range of 160, I accepted that this figure would take a slight hit when driving out-of-town. There was a bit of traffic and I stuck to A-roads, never more than 50–55 mph, level 3 regen when needed, no air-con. However, having started with a maximum of 177 miles available, it took ages to decrease and I finished the trip (having travelled 91 miles, 12 of them super-urban) with 130 left on the indicator. This left the charge meter needle at slightly over half-way. As I routinely charge it when it reaches that level, I plugged it in last night and awoke to a record 228 miles of range! This is approaching Renault Zoe territory and I'd never have thought I'd see it that high (the previous best was 189). I'd always thought that the continual stop-start in an urban environment makes for better economy (what with the regen and all) but this has been a revelation. I'll be really interested to make the same trip in winter conditions and compare the figures.
  46. Funny you mention this. I also have this on my 1.4 TSI 122 bhp version. I've seen it mentioned a few times from other people too. Most opinions seem to point to the catalytic converter pre-heat that it does from a cold start. During this pre-heat the fuel injection is different and the valve timing is adjusted. You will hear from the exhaust that it sound like there's a hole in the exhaust and a bit raspy. Once it's revved once past this jerk it runs fine and then never jerks again.
  47. Both of these turtlewax products are the dog’s danglies. Affordable and great results 👍🏻👌🏻
