  1. When the car is in the Park position the drivetrain is locked. Don’t let your driveway stop you experiencing the joys of DSG,
  2. Are you sure? This was a regular issue with Yetis and could simply be reset by closing the window, releasing and then holding the close button again for a bit with the ignition on?
  3. Ask the fitter to pay special attention, ideally find the leak first so you can explain, or ask them to find the leak before they remove the tyre from the wheel, so that the same leak doesn't arise. A newly fitted tyre will probably rectify the problem though. I asked the fitter to make sure the valve seat on mine was cleaned thoroughly before fitting new tyre.
  4. It's common, full stop. It's been discussed on here before: https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/262559-yeti-mot-fail/ - and that's just a Yeti thread. There are similar threads on the other Skoda model forums, and if you look further afield on forums relating to other manufacturers' cars. This AA article is a helpful explainer if the thread linked above is too long to wade through: https://www.theaa.com/driving-advice/service-repair/coil-springs-breaking. Summary: "the simple fact is that springs are lighter, thinner and don't cope as well with salt and rust." Note that, being the AA, this is general i.e. non-manufacturer-specific information.
  5. That's a LHD drive one I think @Tech1e The ebay auction I've linked is for new genuine, just wish the OP would look at it!
  6. If there was a Hand Brake then you might know how far up you pull it. But it is a finger brake now for the e-brake / parking brake. Foot on brake, move shifter to 'P', Parking Brake on as on a slope you do not want all the pressure on the pawl that is holding the car when in P. If really concerned it will be back to the future and the need for Blocks / Bricks / boulders or Chocks in front of the wheels in the coldest of weather.
  7. I had a very slow puncture in one of my summer tyres, fitted on 18" alloy wheels. I couldn't find it, but it disappeared after I had the wheels powder coated, so I think it was leaking from the bead. VW wheels are pretty poorly finished (not much paint or lacquer, none inside the rim) - it might be worth checking that.
  8. Hi, So if you want to activate all availiable function for your MIB there are few ways ask OD, ask some one or use pathes as i know there are 2 pathes aviliable: 1 Fec Patch or 2 EL Patch In my opinion El patch much easy for user because no need to eddit Feccontainer, and prepatch part of ifs-root aviliable on the link above. To activate all availiable functions you need to get d-link dub e-100 there are some revision of this lan adaptor see picture( more detailed information you can find in word document above) Let's start: make a backup of your original files 1) put a FAT32 SD card in slot1 2) Run Putty 3) use loggin and password from word document for in my case sw was 1440 so login: root and pass: wsa8ytCc (password will not apear just press enter) 4) send follow comand (to paste copied text in putty press right mouse bottom): ls mount -uw net/mmx/fs/sda0/ on -f rcc /usr/apps/modifyE2P r 0 10000 > /net/mmx/fs/sda0/eeprom.txt cp -r /net/rcc/mnt/efs-persist/FEC/FecContainer.fec /net/mmx/fs/sda0/FecContainer.fec cp -r /net/rcc/mnt/efs-persist/SWDL/Variant.txt /net/mmx/fs/sda0/Variant.txt cat /net/rcc/dev/fs0 > /net/mmx/fs/sda0/rcc_fs0 cat /net/mmx/dev/fs0 > /net/mmx/fs/sda0/mmx_fs0 5) Copy all these files to your PC (now it is your Back up in case of.....) 6) Copy from PC to SD card next files 1 and 2 these 2 files ExceptionList.txt and MIB2.5: ifs-root-part2_MHI2_ER_SKG13_P4526 MU1440_EL_patch.rar if your train is different you must use another one see here 7) Put SD card with 2 files back to your MIB2 slot1 8) Send follow commands: mount -uw /net/mmx/fs/sda0/ mount -uw /net/rcc/mnt/efs-persist on -f rcc cp -r /net/mmx/fs/sda0/ExceptionList.txt /net/rcc/mnt/efs-persist/FEC/ExceptionList.txt on -f rcc flashunlock on -f rcc fla**** -v -a 0x00BA0000 -d -f /net/mmx/fs/sda0/ifs-root-part2.ifs (this name must match with name of the file on SD card if you will use original file it must be ifs-root-part2_MHI2_ER_SKG13_P4526 MU1440_EL_patch.ifs) on -f rcc flashlock mount -ur /net/rcc/mnt/efs-persist on -f rcc /usr/apps/mib2_ioc_flash reboot 9) Hope you did everything right and you cans see all FECs now valid in your unit, you just need to activate them in 5F carplay-activate AA-activate and so on Enjoy you get all function availiable for lifetime period.
  9. Hi all, picked up my fabia today. What a great surprise! Was really surprised how smooth the auto box was as I haven't drove an automatic for along time. And really surprised the speed from this little beauty. I've come from a 2.0 tsi passat 200bhp and I must say how much faster this fabia feels. Really pleased with my purchase.
  10. Hi everyone! I have recently purchased an O3 VRS. I had some experience with VW group vehicles but now it's time to the check's OEM. As you can see, it's a white 245hp 370Nm DSG combi with the following extras: Virtual cockpit Keyless entry Electric tailgate 19" Xtreme wheels Electric panoramic sunroof Heated front seats Lane keeping + ACC Rear view camera I'm sure that I'll learn a lot here and I'll try to contribute as much as I can!
  11. This all seems very complicated - why don't you just turn the wipers off before you turn the ignition off? The engine is the last thing I turn off before I get out of the car.
  12. Hoping you don't have the same problems as ... BMW.mp4
  13. 09' Fabia with bi-halogen headlights, maxi-dot, small leather pack (wheel, handbrake, gearstick), it's called Ambition here, which is a paddy-spec really, no AC, 2 electric windows and it ends here, can't mention any more. Manual, 117k km on clock, so it's not a big mileage for a soon to be 12 years old. It's in good nick, timing belt changed 3 years ago, new discs and pads 2 years ago. No quotes yet as not too bad at the moment but I can hear that there's something which going to go at some stage. The 1.4's gearbox is prone to fail on (shaft) bearings. Doing 10-12k kms per year which is average. I'm in the same boots as you are: this is a sound car, never let me down over 5 years and 56k kms. The one I'm looking at is a 16', 26k kms on the clock which is below average for a 4 year old, has the 1.2 with 6 speed. Ant this one has no AC either. So you've had over 5 years happy motoring. Is sounds good to me, I keep cars for a longer period. Wish I had a shed or something with a cover, I'd keep them longer. Simple things like changing oil is a pain in the bottom as I do it in an open carpark. For this reason, better changing before gets to old.
  14. I hate Stop/Start too, and disable it each time I get in the car. Despite what anybody says I can't help but think that repeated use of the starter motor will eventually knacker something....!! I've seen these regularly mentioned but haven't bothered buying one so can't vouch for it, to me it is second nature now to disable the stop/start as I put my seat belt on, so no great issue..... https://www.kufatec.com/en/coding-diagnosis/kufatec-coding-dongle/coding-dongle-disable-start-stop-for-vw-seat-skoda-audi-40019
  15. Yes you can, you need to have them at a certain angle for them to slide out. the round bar as a bit sticking out and that bit needs lined up for it to slide out
  16. Ease of use? F for forward, B for backward, that’s about it. ( other letters are available )
  17. Completely normal!
  18. My valve leak was an alloy wheel. Quite common I believe.
  19. The beads of Steel Wheels can get corrosion and the air can leak just the same. Or the valves can at the seating. Often a tyre fitter might try running sealer around a bead after having given them a clean up and still there can be an issue. Over the years with cars i have just bought and that have a slow leak i let the tyres down and re-inflate with Tyre Weld (Copy of) and then fully inflate and job done until i get around to deciding what i am doing with the vehicle or the wheels / tyres. Never had any issue doing this as long as the leak was at the bead and nothing wrong with the tyre.
  20. Had mine in for 18 months, all buttons on the steering wheel worked as soon as it was plugged in.
  21. No, sorry, I meant the headlights don't have to be on for the option to show in OBDeleven as it seems to think I don't have headlight washers when I do Nick
  22. My slow leak was definitely from the valve seat. As you say, poorly finished, although mine are old also, but never had a valve leak before....... Fairly easy to find a leak though.
  23. Good morning Mr CJJE I'm in an almost identical situation. And an almost identical car, as it happens. Just a different colour. Our car has been enjoying the delights of the arse-end of the car in front in a sea of other cars in Grimsby since early week, and despite me pestering those jolly helpful peeps on the Skoda chat thing every few minutes, it's still there. I asked the same question of our supplying dealer this morning, and they confirmed what I'd hoped would be the case: "Good morning Mr Extremely Important Customer* We have had a brief meeting this morning regarding the new lockdown coming into force from Thursday. They are looking into click & collect for handovers. We are hoping that we will be able to still hand cars over as all paperwork can be done remotely. There are talks of having the cars either inside the handover bay or outside of it & the keys will be in a pot for you to collect. We are able to video the controls to our customers so we don't need to be sitting next to you to show you how it works. Once I know more about this I will let you know, but all being well, we will still be able to get you into your new Skoda. Kind regards Beyoncé* Sales Executive" * I've edited the names here in the interests of privacy.
  24. @MartiniB - Looks like there are some new VW maps https://vw-maps-cdn.lighthouselabs.eu/vw-maps/DiscoverMedia2_EU1_1520_V13.7z Downloading at the moment so I've not checked them.
  25. They are down to about 2mm, a bit slippy now esp in the wet, and noisy too. What do you do about rim leaks - is it something tyre fitters sort?
  26. If it does not respond, that means that there is a problem with phisical cable connection or the aftermarket radio does not support the Skoda communication protocol.
  27. Regardless, you have a handbrake, just a tiny little one, electronically triggered. Any slope will be no issue, as DSG will block front drive train, while handbrake will block rears - no difference as it was in manual whatsoever.
  28. I find having the air con all the time is a bit of a vicous circle, it leaves the evaporator damp which leads to more condensation the next time you get in your car meaning you need to have the AC on again. Since I started to leave it off it probably gets used a handful of times between the end of summer and the start of the next. Only if its a really really wet day or I have a few people in the car do I ever need it.
  29. @NJRJ No not a dig, it is sensible to keep them covered from sun, rain, ice and snow. Also hidden away from thieves, as the good summer use wheels & tyres are not insured while not on the car.
  30. Forgive me if this sounds obvious, is there a possibility that one of the rear wheel and tyre combinations is a different size to the other?
  31. Stop start cars have starter motors designed for a huge number of starts. Stop start does not work unless engine is ok to use it. Lots of parameters including engine temp, battery state etc to decide if on or not. You will notice the engine starts near instantly with little turning by the starter motor. The engine stops at the right point in the cycle for near instant restart. It is so easy to turn it on or off with the button that I change it many times in a trip. On at traffic lights or when pauses are likely to be long. Off at junctions and roundabouts where I want no hesitation going for a small gap. Off in slow stop start traffic. Don't forget that you can restart the car with a slight wiggle of the steering wheel if it has stopped at a junction or lights and you want no hesitation before moving off
  32. Yep, I don't really get the point of removing it. Sure, water repellant coatings can work, but a wiper is fitted as standard and is better. After driving a saloon car for over a decade I appreciate the rear wiper. I don't really buy that it makes any improvement to the aesthetics either, I don't think I'd even notice. Until I drove it and it rained. 😂
  33. ^^^ Top tip. Also cover the tyres on the car at all times that sit around exposed to UV for years on end & are exposed to sodium, petroleum, acid rain etc etc.
  34. Thanks man. LI am lttle surprised not more people are Reading/commenting/likeing my thread. There are cars far less technically advanced and are read more for about 4000 reads. I am wondering what does these people look for. This is first MK4 platform world wide (as far as I know-if there is any You can coun't them on one hand maybe) with water cooling. It is not just put big turbo and get 390hp and that,'s it. Shallow People. I bet my car will kill it on the track with almost 100hp less power and much older chasis. So, strange world. For sure I can coun't on you my friend🙂🙂🙂

If he were using a genuine tool then yes, but alas...
  36. If you buy a diesel and do loads of short trips, then I think that you could be opening yourself up to engine issues with limp home mode and regen problems. If you do decent runs to/from work or regular longer distance, motorway and dual carriageway stuff, then diesel may well be a viable option. But if you are doing mostly short trips and town centre driving and infrequent longer distance journeys then a petrol engined car would be more appropriate.

Not a factory option, something I’ve done myself.

  39. Polo and Golf, Fiesta and Focus :( The exception seems to be chocolate, which is definitely becoming smaller!
  40. Current M2 is 100mm longer than the original M3. says something about how porky our cars are these days
  41. Thank for the summary. I have a Superb MK3 2017 4X4 with these squeaking noises front the front side. During the annual service I asked the dealership to check this issue. They claimed they put lots of grease, but the noises haven't changed at all. I'd liked to lube the wishbone bushings as it's out of warranty, and was advised to use this specific lithium grease and not any type of grease with code G052150 A2 Since it's out of warranty, I'd like to try this myself. Does anyone have a photo of which specific bushings are the cause of the noise? Do I have to release the bolts to apply the grease? Thanks in advance.
  42. Small Update... Been browsing through the Service History and noticed the Car had a Recall in 2016 with the Job Number 23R7, A bit of Research showed that this Recall was in relation to the famous EA189 VW Emissions scandal. Obviously this is pretty well known on Briskoda as I know many Octavia's and Superbs came with Engines also affected. Obviously I don't know any different as in my Ownership the Golf has always been OK as far as I am concerned however knowing the Current Software that my Car is running is not ideal not just from a Reliability with potential EGR and DPF issues going forward but also Performance perspective I wanted to do something about it. Most Owners have said that going back to the proper File has transformed their Cars. So I have been chatting with Darkside Developments who have confirmed that its a 2 Hours Job and they access the Software and find the Proper File which VW uploaded and Re-flash that Software onto the ECU restoring the Proper File. I am booked in with them first thing on Tuesday Morning to get it done.

Tenuously on topic in relation to bodge jobs on seat belts and the RAC blue book. I saw an enclosed glass fibre kit car racer presented for Scrutineering at Lydden Hill once, either a Ginetta or a Marcos, one look at it told you it was a shed and the closer you got the more embarrassing the bodges you saw, the scrutineer had a fit when he saw that the 3 point harness upper mounting was attached to the roll cage by a jubilee clip I kid you not!
  44. Indeed, spent another £100 today on stuff!
  45. many thanks gents for sorting this problem out i will have a look under the carpets and in the car if no 1 can be found i will buy 1 but £12 for a small bit of plastic christ rip off
