Here is mine. 1.5 TSI DSG lava blue. This is my third Skoda and sixth car.
  2. Join us at the Donington Historic Festival 1st weekend of May 2021. Here's the website: http://www.doningtonhistoric.com/ We'll have a club stand(spaces limited). Of course you're welcome to attend via public parking and be a part of it, skoda or not. We're a broad church after all You can attend either day, or both. Early bird prices are £21 per day, or £40 for both. Skoda is a historic brand, in more ways than many of us know. Early V8 pioneers, Rallying exploits, even a forerunner to the classic air cooled bug! I think we all need a good day out Fingers crossed. So, if anyone has been before, as a visitor, club member etc, please do reply with tips and advice... Any questions, please do just ask. News: Our club stand ( pending approval ) will be net free to display on. I'd like to get a mix of vehicles from all ages. There is no restriction and a new one next to an old one is a fine contrast. See below for more details on the 'free stand offer'
  3. Just recently bought this SE-L Executive Tdi. Petrol blue with beige interior. Not quite got all of the extras I'd have chosen new, but I knew I wanted that colour combo and this one happened to be for sale less than 10 miles from home. This is my first Skoda and I'm a big fan of it. I think they look great, in a really understated way and are lovely place to be. Also as someone who is a bit overgrown, this is the first time that I've ever been able to. Comfortably carry passengers behind the drivers seat. Ave thing, I suspect it'll be a car I'll run for year, until we know what the future is for fossil fuels.
  4. Following previous trials on the M3, M6 and M20 motorways another one is under way on the M1 in Northamptonshire and in the first 2 weeks 10,000 motorists have been sent a warning letter (no fines or points issued yet) reminding them to leave a safe distance to the vehicle in front. Previously on earlier trials between 201 and 273 drivers per hour were found to be tailgating which doesn't surprise me from what I have observed between junctions 22 and 20 on the M1.
  5. That's somewhat different though as they are all linked and act as one, braking at the same time etc. With no reaction time. The two second rule is based on reaction time not stopping distance or time. Is the average driver takes 1.5seconds to react to an occurrence in front of them. The 2 second rule is based on that and adds a bit as a safety margin and to make it something easy to remember. Desirable Sight Stopping Distance for a vehicle at 70mph is actually 295m according to design standards and 215m at one step below. Most vehicles are capable of less though.

To a towbar fitter, the intended “light” use should not be relevant. The car is officially capable of towing a certain weight and the fitter must ensure that the bar is fully capable of doing that. (Much as tyres must match the capability of the car, not the “I never go above 50” that might be stated by the driver 😀)
  7. Using LED lighting technology and sensors as currently used in the seat cushions Skoda has filed a Patent for illuminated seat belt buckles which would be a world first. The idea is that when a person sits on the seat the buckle will glow red from the normal unseated white colour. When the buckle is fastened it changes to green and then back to white so it doesn't distract the driver.

To me it does not matter what you need a tow bar, light or whatever but just imagine 2,3 or more owners down the line who buys the car for towing a large caravan or heavy trailer and after a few miles it breaks down because the engine has over heated or you have stopped because of overheating or any other reason. Would you be happy, I am sure I would not. My own experience. Renault 25, 30 years ago towing a caravan, within apparent weight limits having to stop every so often to let the engine cool down because an extra heat exchanger had not been fitted when the tow bar was. 🤭😊. Me was unaware of the extra cooling required. 😊🤭
  9. I can't blame you. I've been fancying one ever since the mkIII came out, but I've always bought cars used and outright, so have held off until they dropped into my price bracket. Having read every review I king of knew what to expect, and if hasn't disapointed. The thing that has surprised me though has been non-car peoples reaction. When I showed my wife it her first reaction was 'god, how expensive is this going to be', when I picked up my brother be got in and said 'I thought you were getting a skoda, this is nicer than dad's car (jag xj)'. Inside it definitely feels more premium than anything in it's class and is more than a match for the class above.
  10. Could you try and explain the fault better, I'm not really getting a clear sense of what's wrong with your car from your description.
  11. Impossible to remove the wings without damaging them due to the bonding sealer used at the hinge pillars. Better to use new pattern wings and dry fit them so they can be fettled then get it painted once complete.
  12. The muck and sludge from the scuttle panel drains ends up trapped behind the bottom of the wings. That's what rots them out. Mine are starting to go. Not had experience of fitting any panels on it yet though.
  13. Fair enough! I have to confess I love mine so maybe I am not too subjective I like these dynamic but discreet touches of the SportLine very much. A pity they didn't add a similar clever front spoiler too to go with the rear one, the aftermarket ones from Maxton and Rieger are too fussy for my like.
  14. Do you have the manual a/c or climate version. When the fan speed is set to off/zero, the a/c light goes off, will restart when fan is on. I am guessing you have loose connection on a switch or wire, if randomly turning on and off
  15. Many HGV drivers think they are the best on the road network which would explain why 3 low bridges have been hit 23,24 and 25 times in the last 12 months according to Highways England the worst being the A5 near Hinckley in Leicestershire near MIRA Proving Ground where I have worked on the Security Gate.
  16. @skomaz I was being flippant on the Convoy trucks that George Osborne was so keen to trial, but then him and buddies will have investments in the tech. The point is that Traffic Laws and legislation and criminal law needs to be joined up thinking & joint up legislation, and an up dated highway code that reflects the UK laws. HGV's now and for past decades are driving in convoy less than 2 meters apart. Traffic Laws for England / Wales are not identical to in Scotland or Northern Ireland. Max speed limits for different vehicle classes. Coaches as an example.
  17. Nothing to do with his car or knowing how to drive. Plenty of threads on Briskoda about 1.5tsi issues. Well known characteristics of a significant number (but not all) of 1.5tsi engines are severe cold running hesitations, kangarooing and general intermittent and spurious total loss of power. None of which is accepted by VAG as a problem but then they say the same about DQ200 dsg boxes too. To this day, still not known if resolved, or even if VAG made much of effort to resolve the issues. Many theories spouted on here but no answers, solutions or warranty from VAG - its simply a characteristic, live with it, is their answer. In comparison the 1.4tsi suffers none of these issues and is generally praised as being an excellent engine, performance and other wise.
  18. Hi bigade1, Great download, thanks for all your time and effort putting this together for us. Cheers
  19. Highway Code still mentions the 2 second rule when travelling at 70mph so at least 60 metres I would imagine.
  20. There's a 6.3 V8 hiding under all those plastic covers.......honestly 🤥 😅 Looking good 👍 Can recommend Autofinesse caramics as a good product to apply to your summer wheels while they're off the car. https://www.autofinesse.com/en/caramics-wheel-protection-kit
  21. Put winter wheels on yesterday. Still satisfied with the detailing I had done on these wheels during spring. Still very shiny . Now the summer wheels are off, I just have to do the same (19" Trinity in black version) .
  22. For that price I bought a new OE (but no doubt parallel market) battery box & cover from Ali-Express, they are fully backward compatible. I had gone from the 027 battery to the bigger 060 and the felt cover looked like Norman Wisdoms suit! The 060 fits within the standard plastic battery box & cover but not the felt one. The engine bay definitely looks better with either cover fitted.
  23. @AidanF AMG engine bay... even closer!
  24. MOT testers are human and thus fallible. Talk to the person that did the original test, if possible, explaining what you've found (and not found). Do this before replacing any parts or putting the car in for retest.
  25. Never liked having the battery exposed, didn't even get the felt top cover with mine, so picked up a lid for it. Bit of a bargain at under £9 delivered on ebay and makes the engine bay look a bit less unfinished. Also changed the halogen bulbs in my rear indicators and reverse lights for Philips Ultinon LEDs after spotting a decent Amazon Warehouse deal. Not the best of pictures but sort of shows the improvement of the LEDs in the nearside lamp over the original halogens in the offside. While going through boxes in the garage also found an unused Osram W5W LED so used that to replace the bulb in the glovebox. Think that was the last halogen bulb left on the car 😆
  26. Time for winter tyres, and back on the heavy OEM trinity wheels. Had to put 13mm spacers on the front due to bbk, and wheels still fit barely. I risked not being able to mount these original rims...but at the end it was ok with a margin of almost 1 mm! Also fitted 16mm spacers on the back. 13mm spacers: This last photo shows how close the caliper is to the inside of the rim...
  27. Here it is. 5 hour drive to bring it back from scotland and very happy with it
  28. ŠKODA Superb III SE-L Style 2.0 TSI Auto Hatch, Pearlescent Black Magic.
  29. Thanks, I had seen that one but I’ve decided to keep the Octy for at least another year. Various reasons really, mostly because it’s so hard to get another car with the spec mine has for decent money. Mine has loads of options on it and it’ll fit us for a wee while longer so may as well keep it until I can get away with something totally different. I thought about it but I can’t justify more than about £350 per month on a car, I just don’t want to pay more than that personally and mine is paid for now so I’ve decided to enjoy at least another year of not having a car payment every month instead.

They are really cheap on Ebay, but I personally am never sure whether they are genuine from that site. The old saying, buy cheap buy twice springs to mind.

SWF are the OEM and they are, imho and experience, much better then Bosch Aerotwin. If you can find SWF go for those instead.
  32. I’ve taken delivery of a 1.5 DSG Sportline build date 16th September 2020 and apart from a dent in the bonnet also on delivery, successfully removed by a PDR technician I sourced and paid for by the dealer, it’s been great. Engine very smooth and no problems so far (been a couple of weeks only).
  33. We're back after 3 long months off the road! Car fully assessed - no damage to the chassis or any of the suspension, etc. The project continues - here's to the next 10 years 😎
  34. I've been out in the car tonight and only managed to find a DLA setting which was turned on already. An off/on didn't sort it and neither did a lock/leave. Time to up the ante with a soft reset - but that didn't work either. Contemplating a partial infotainment reset and thought to check the light switch position. Lo and behold it was in the dipped beam position and not auto! Problem solved but I'll leave this here as a reminder to firstly check the obvious.
  35. 2019 facelift Superb SE L manual with virtual dash, blindspot detection.
  36. Right - hopefully I can assist. Your car as standard gets: eCall Care Connect Remote Services (1 year) and 8 speakers Virtual Cockpit with 10.25" display DAB digital radio Bluetooth® Swing radio with 8.25" touchscreen 2x USB Type C ports (for charging and data transfer) Bluetooth® Wireless SmartLink for Apple Car Play only (wired for Android Auto and mirrorlink) This means that you will be able to make Emergency and Breakdown calls to Skoda Assistance. Skoda Connect should also allow you to integrate into this function to allow you to report breakdowns as necessary. However, you DO NOT have the Infotainment Online (as your car has the basic Swing radio) - which gives you connectivity to services and maps etc. However, your plan B is to go with Skoda Connect Lite. This is a dongle that plugs-into the ODBC2 port on your car and allows you to get telemetary about it that way. I would suggest (if budget is an issue) - that you go and get the VW ODBC dongle (for about £4 on ebay) as opposed to Connect Lite from Skoda which costs £45 !!!
  37. They’ve been on the car for 4 weeks now, done ~1,400 miles on them and happy to report all well. Proof of the pud: They are no noisier than the factory fitted Bridgestones, even at top end(ish) of motorway speeds, and feel is no difference in heavy rain. It’s been cold enough here to suit the winters but have driven them in temps up to +13.5c, didn’t feel any different. Haven’t had frost, ice or snow yet but it’s coming, I can feel it in my bones.
  38. We had a front sensor fail on our 2015 Elegance with the same symptoms - fortunately it happened a month before the end of the 3 year warranty so we got it fixed under warranty (after arguing with Marshalls that it was covered under the warranty).
  39. This sounds like one of your reversing sensors has failed....it is a known issue on MK2's, but this is the first I've heard about on a MK3. The other option is that the system has somehow got out of sync (if your park pilot is still working). Definitely sounds your car needs to be code read to find out what the error is: Look at this link: and select VCDS. I own a VCDS system, so can code read, but there are others who are way closer. Two in Aberdeenshire and one in Nairn.

Nothing to do with whatever toys you want on your vehicle, the comment which you consider to be strange was to dispel the untruth which you confidently asserted. There is no requirement in law that a towbar has to be coded to a vehicles canbus, which is a nonsense notion anyway. Now were there to be a law that to tow a trailer you need to pass a test including reversing without relying on whatever "must have" electronic device is flavour of the day then I would be all for it, I would also extend it to a revised driving test to ensure that existing licensed drivers remain capable of keeping their eyes on the road, to maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front, to remain within their lane, to be aware of road signs and the speed limit in force and to be able to modulate the throttle to maintain a constant speed, all things that are being lost with the increased reliance on vehicle electronics.

Rubbish. It may have been your choice, it may have been desirable in your circumstances but that does not oblige the rest of the population to do the same.
  42. Non respect of the highway code is not an actionable offence, it would have to be due care & attention or dangreous driving and with sufficient proof. If you are not taking due care & attention the safest place for all concerned is for you to be right on the bumper of the car in front.
  43. Thanks guys. I am on the principle “ if something works don’t touch it “. i was just interested to hear some opinions. By the way i am using Mercedes Oil the car runs very good with it. I was using castrol and helix of shell but with this one the car works fine. By the way this is what the alternator looked like when i removed it. Skoda are still investigating about it
