  1. Actual LOL at managing to shoehorn a MPG post into a thread about indicators. Well done, well done.
  2. Personally, I'm not sure that it would be worth risking making a bit of a mess. I would class it along with taking the wallpaper with you when you move house
  3. gotten used to BB code on Flikr... choose files is the original anyway....thanks
  4. Windermere as seen from Blackfell
  5. Perez, I've been bigging him up for months. If Marko doesn't phone him up tonight with a job there's no justice.
  6. It's on the instrument cluster. You might need to turn off cruise control on the indicator stalk to show the odometer 😉
  7. Car was in at Henry Bros Glasgow for a service , this is where I purchased it from, and was told my stop start battery needs replaced, told them fine do it , it’s under warranty, then they backtracked saying it’s fine, got it checked at QuickFit and they confirmed battery knackered and needs replaced, I had to go all the way up to the service director who came out to car with meter and confirmed battery knackered, so got the thing replaced eventually, once this dealer takes your cash, your a nobody, they couldn’t spell “ Customer Care “
  8. Yes, confirmed. I have the same engine which I service myself and use this https://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-713-castrol-edge-titanium-5w-30-ll-fully-synthetic-car-engine-oil.aspx?VariantID=98269&vehicleid=24337&yearfilter=2014&providerpartid=98269&genericpartid=1862&providerpartlinkid=131117&partsgroupid=2354&genericpartname=Car engine oil I had an oil change done at a Skoda dealer last year and they used 5w40.
  9. A big VW issue is never make it easy if you can make it confusing, and then mess about with engine types / generations and call them similar names, then translate German to Czech. or English, American English, Spanish or whatever. First chart is regarding earlier engines including TSI's including Euro 6 Emissions. The one below when they went 0w 20 FS IV to get the Co2 g/km for the WLTP / RDE. (& it is about Variable servicing and they choose not to do one for Fixed Servicing if you did not want to use Long Life oil.)
  10. I was just quoting from the Skoda UK website - no surprise that they've made it so confusing and/or wrong
  11. Well have had my new car for a couple of weeks ago. I have to say I don't find the Lane assist to be that intrusive. It's also easy to turn off. I'm wondering if, being a new car, it'e been tweaked to update it. It does tug you back into lane but its not as fierce as some people seem to be saying it is.
  12. I would probably search for a good independent VAG specialist as they will use genuine parts. Kwik Fit I would steer clear of as they wont use genuine parts and likely not the best oil. I havent been to a Kwik Fit garage in almost 20 years.
  13. Best avoid Halfords. Depending where you are in Scotland you might be able to find a VW Specialist that has all the gear and more than an idea. Licensed Equipment that can get all the info like Software Updates, TPI's etc and can service the car and put that on the System. Also reset the Service Indicator as they know what they are doing.
  14. 2018 Octavia Hatch - live in the Midlands so no real extreme conditions but on a number of occasions, my doors have all frozen solid so I've not been able to get in the car. A bit of a problem at 5:30-6am when you're trying to get in to work on time without waking up the neighbours. Last time it happened, I ended up using the keyfob to wind down the windows so I could get some leverage to open the doors but this isn't a good solution really. Is this a known issues with the Octavia model or am I just unlucky ? I've not had this problem since my 1988 Astra used to do the same (in through the boot !)

Hi again, during weekend I went rogue with OBDeleven and disabled KESSY entry through door handles. You can still lock the car by the touch sensor, it just wont unlock with. KESSY start works, you just need to unlock the car through the button on remote key, to disarm the alarm. If you will enter even through trunk you wont be able to unlock the doors or start even you have the kessy signal through extenter (tested). Super simple, super effective, definitely way better than having aluminium pouch in pocket or steel case at home for keys. Just go for longcode in OBDeleven (or VCDS) unit: B7 Access Startsystem Interface Passive entry frt.pass. door handle: old: activated new: Not activated Passive entry driver door handle: old: activated new: Not activated
  17. Gummi pfledge applied to the door seals should do the trick.
  18. I remember air and pollen filters are individual items now so if you can spare 10mins, you'd save about 35quid doing it yourself. More if you can get cheaper parts. Pollen filter a bit of a faff but definitely air filter is easy.

Hi all, glad I am not alone with these issues. Car is due to go in on the 15th. Dealer still has our 2018 2.0 tdi Superb Sportline, ask as a passing comment about tempted swapping it back and they said I could it I wanted no I am in a quandary. Battle through these issues or return to something that works
  20. Snap. I got followed by flashing blue lights on a dual carriageway after touching 70-ish overtaking some lorries. I turned off at the next roundabout, boys in blue followed me & stuck religiously to the 30mph limit, blue lights went out behind but they still followed me for another half mile before turning off (enough time I reckon for them to check the number plate & insurance). Phew. BTW, a stage 1 remap makes a huge difference.
  21. They got cash off me once mate, would never even advise my worst enemy to buy a car from them , their loss, I even go elsewhere for services .
  22. Ahhh, thanks for that Pilot guy. Between you, PetrolDave and langers2k you've got it through my thick skull.
  23. Something definitely sounds off here. I would suggest that any further work gets done at a garage that's known for doing good work on VAG cars. Do not attempt to start it again until you can turn the engine through at least two full rotations by hand to ensure timing hasn't slipped. TBH if it was me, I'd want the belt job redone by someone with the right tools and who is familiar with the job. Sounds like the seller may have half-arsed it to maximise their margin.
  24. you have connect to wifi (this allows car to connect to a network) or you have hotspot (connecting a device to car network) you want to be connecting the car to wifi, once you get your head around it youll find lots of different things and settings lol, does take a while
  25. @B284 Hello neighbour. I have lived in Skåne for 10 years(Dalby) so I know what a wet winter roads you have. I live in the more hilly parts of Dalsland,so for me studded tires are a must. And yes Michelin X-Ice North 4 is my choise. Your rims look very good.
  26. What's more important; Getting the service record updated? or Getting the work done correctly? Personally I would rather lose a couple of hundred at point of sale (due to not having a 'full' service history) to know that I paid less for the servicing at a know good garage and the work was done correctly. Edit: Sounds like Root has a good option.
  27. So Seems like its taken ages but I finally got my 19" peelers on at the weekend, wheels are used and not perfect but will prob get refurbed to get rid of curb marks closer to the summer. Amazing how I opened with the wheels when so much else has happened over the past few weeks. * Repaired wiring loom from ecu to throttle body * 4x New shocks and springs with a wee 20mm drop * New Trailing arm bushings * New brake pads all round * new tyres for new wheels * 2 x new rear brake calipers * Full brake fluid flush ( what came out looked like day 1 factory ) * new flexi brake hoses * new handbrake cables * new trailing arm bushes Still to come ( parts in just no time ) * second brake fluid flush * reversing camera * extra hidden usb charge points Next big job will be some body work, few bits id like to get painted then full paint correction and a ceramic coating .
  28. @Bertie90 Can you not just say what EU Country the car is going to to get Registered in? There might well be members from there or with experience of the bureaucracy.
  29. I will try an answer what I can with the limited info you have given. 2. - As a non French resident you cannot other than re-registering it on UK plates. 3- With great difficulty, even the temporary insurances are for UK registered vehicles. 4 & 5. - If you register it on UK plates then the taxes to be paid will be part of the registration process, the same will be true of the other EU country. Beware that many EU countries like mine have a heavy malus tax on newer and higher CO2 vehicles, for my country this applies on first regstration in the country and you are treated as if its a brand new vehicle, on my 5 year old Yeti it was an additional €1000 on top of the normal regsitartion fee, for a Range Rover etc it could have been as much as €25K Worse still you might have no choice but to pay that in the UK and again in the other EU country if you cannot make the deal look like you bought it in France and took it to the other EU country. You asked for no comments regarding the financial benefits, hassle or difficulty so I will respect your wishes but please be aware that there might be considerable financial non benefits.
  30. Kudos for running in freezing fog - keep it up Mac! I reckon I might be able to pace you, on my mobility scooter But having said that I was going out, but just noticed it's now raining, so I've suddenly come over all bantamweight and put the kettle on Gaz
  31. oh man freezing fog is cold running, but the alpkit gear makes it a lot more tolerable. tolerable enough to ag an extra 500m... 8000meters.. in under 41mins. so ive added 3.2km to my original route and only an extra 5mins to cover it. i think thats solid progress. no where near award winning, i had a look at the leader board for those segment times... lets just say id be lapped (twice) by the entire top 10 if we all did my route together and they kept going until i finished...

You're quite right. I miscalculated tyres size. Its too small. If you want 225 you would have to go up a profile size not down! I'd be sticking with the 235/45/18 as above.
  33. I was looking for cheap upgrades not a whole new car. Believe me if I had the money I would be driving a Superb
  34. I received this email last week from Skoda: We are pleased and excited to announce the merger of two of our current mobile application portfolio; the ŠKODA Connect App and MyŠKODA App will become one in our new application called MyŠKODA. The effect of the merger will make the use of our ŠKODA digital services even simpler for you, ensuring that you will have all of the important functionalities of the two previous apps accessible in one place. To enable login to the new application you can simply continue to use your current ŠKODA ID credentials, then read and confirm the updated legal terms to start using the all new App. If you would like more information regarding personal data processing then it is available here. If you have been using a third party login credential within the current MyŠKODA App (e.g. login via Facebook) and you do not have a ŠKODA ID (used for example in other ŠKODA Apps), you are able to create a new ŠKODA ID here or directly in the new MyŠKODA app. The new MyŠKODA application will be easily recognised by its all new logo and will be available on Google Play (after 04/12/2020) and Apple App Store (after 10/12/2020) as an update of the current ŠKODA Connect App. If you are yet to install the current ŠKODA Connect App you can easily do so now via this link. We believe that you will find using the new MyŠKODA application not only useful and enjoyable, but that it also helps to deliver the mobile interaction with your vehicle with more convenience and comfort.
  35. Its the same sticker on my 1.5 TSI. We use PSI (one of the few things not metric for some reason here). So I put in 34 PSI on the 17inch wheels - runs nicely on that.
  36. For Russell the pitstop was a disaster of the teams making and the puncture was a tragedy. Four pitstops for Russell and he only finished 3 seconds behind Bottas.
  37. Not me, that was @AGFalco's win, I just worked with what he provided.

The official size is 8Jx18 ET44. I think only 4mm différence on the ET should not be a problem. But tyre size has to be bigger otherwise, the diameter with 225/40/18 is ~34mm too small. You need 235/45/18 to get the right size.

Like you, I use one very infrequently these days. Having broken two expensive (ish) ones, I decided to take a simpler route and got one of these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Draper-34487-2-Inch-Square-Torque/dp/B0001K9T24/ref=asc_df_B0001K9T24/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=226606326869&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=13210735966662742107&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1006692&hvtargid=pla-423123558663&psc=1&th=1&psc=1 Not recommending the seller, just an example. Given my infrequent need for one, this does the job for me, and I like the simplicity. Gaz
  40. I have fitted one-one my TFSI 245bhp mk3. I'm very please with it (I've fitted one to 4 cars previously too). I notice much better response and less turbo lag. I did have a throttle response module fitted before but it is not as good. I find I get better fuel economy too, when not driving like Colin Mcrea. Well worth it in my opinion. Good bunch of helpful guys to if you phone them.
  41. In 2017 within a week of owning my 63 plate Octy Elegance 1.4TSi DSG with 17" alloys, I scuffed an alloy badly (only cosmetic but still ugly). I bought a new one and needless to say scuffed a spoke on the new one on a steel petrol station island surround (serves me right for using both sides to fill up - misjudged the distance). Anyhoo the old scuffed 17" alloy sat in the garage unloved. The car came with a spare wheel and jack but it was a 16" black and yellow steel wheel and limited to 50MPH. On a recent service I was informed that one of my front tyres was marginal, not wishing to take chances with winter approaching and there being a deal on Michelins at Costco I replaced both front tyres and the better of the two (which had plenty of tread left) was put on the bare wheel. I now have a pukka full size spare (I thoroughly cleaned it before I had a tyre put on it) and it fits fine under the boot floor in the recess that 16" spare sat in. I'm well pleased and I'm very grateful for the advice of the forum, some users of which suggested the idea to me. It only cost me a valve and balance, which was less than a tenner. So far I've been unlucky and in the 3+years of ownership I've managed to have 3 punctures requiring me to use the spare. If it happens again I know that I can put the spare on and carry on as normal. Once I had a puncture before a 200 mile return journey so I had to abort and get the tyre done which meant I missed an appointment. Thanks forum for your excellent advice and ideas.
  42. You wouldn't believe it was possible to make an already ugly car even uglier... but they've managed it!
  43. Nothing since September? Might as well break the dry spell. Quick wash on my lunch break as the weather improved (perk of working from home!) Chemical Guys Bug+Tar Remover CarPlan No 1 Super Clean Shampoo Two bucket wash with microfiber mitt Rinse Dry with microfiber towel DemonShine Spray on Shine RainX on windows DemonShine Super Wheel Cleaner Simoinz Wet look Tyre shine Next time I wash it I'll add a layer of Carnauba Wax ready for the winter months.
