  1. Looking out of the harbour at Whitehaven as a storm starts to roll in.
  2. But let's be honest... A united kingdom vehicle is just as obvious from a GB plate or a registration plate so a UK sticker would make bugger all difference.
  3. This morning's sunrise And this evening's sunset
  4. He added, which you omitted, 'just so it can be keyed in a car park if I fancy a quick trip to Calais'. Given that there's a lot of people, perhaps from countries who aren't happy with the UK for whatever reason, is a very real possibility. There's been lots of instances in the UK of foreign registered cars being keyed or worse. I know from experience. Yeah, it's daft to change it. IMO it's a pathetic attempt to bring NI into the UK fold/ cosy up to certain NI people as it's 'The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland' which a simple GB plate omits. Mind you, it'd look a bit daft with a plate saying UKOGBANI so abbreviated to UK
  5. Looks like mines arrived today 😁 I'll give installing it a go tonight!
  6. I think it can stay in this thread since you are actually really upgrading the sound system.
  7. This was the case. I booked a replacement screen via my insurers website and paid the excess, and the new screen was fitted a few days ago. Now to see how much my premium has increased when it comes to renewal next month!!
  8. https://www.thelocal.fr/20210902/uk-changes-rules-fo/ I suppose some outlets use the terms 'law' and 'rule' interchangeably. A fine is a punishment is it not? 'Could be' means 'possibly' IMO but I doubt entry would be refused by all but the most finickity.
  9. Maybe I should make a separate thread about this audio build?

It just opens the doors in the hidden location. I don't think it has any immobiliser properties.
  11. I was dead chuffed of this photo back when it was actually warm up this way...
  12. rare one, but i think justified... recent works completed on one of our bridges, a full rope accessed vegetation removal, major instream scour protection works carried out (in a special area of conservation... thank god i wasnt involved in that bit) and also a deep ckean and repointing of mortar joints. 150 ish yrs old, its looking brand new other than the handrails...
  13. Makes perfect sense, thanks!
  14. Added a layer of Carpro Gliss before winter sets in.
  15. Good news!! My car is at the dealers ready to be collected on Friday.. !!! I am beyond excited.

  17. I was taken with the colours in this ripening chilli pepper
  18. Yes, keep your hands on the steering wheel, I've never driven a Fabia that didn't pull to the left, in fact most cars drift down the camber from the crown to the kerb, even my LWB Sprinter does it, albeit very gently.
  19. I’ve got a pretty high spec’d 80X on order (not as high as yours tho). It has no current anticipated delivery date but admittedly it was only confirmed with Skoda last week. Depending where you read the 80x has a shorter lead time than 60 or standard 80 models but don’t know if that’s true. The enyaq came out £30-40 a month cheaper than the GTX max plus it’s a much nicer place to sit and in real terms I can’t imagine there much between them in performance. I did read that the VRS was going to be released next year and potentially it was not going to come to the UK market but then Skoda said the same about the 80X so who knows.
  20. I'm not sure that one person from Picardie answers for all the law enforcers in Europe as to their willingness to uphold the new rules, laws or whatever they are interpreted as within this thread. The naysayers will be able to quote from here and refuse to pay any fines though. 😜 I don't know if numberplates are covered in the MOT but if they are then it appears that most current ones will be fine.
  21. I've read that the vrs is probably going to be next year, but also by my local dealer that its not going to happen. I'll take the dealer with a pinch of salt though. A fully specced sportline 80x is very close in price to the vw id4 gtx max, which had the 300bhp twin motor set up that the vrs will have and is fully loaded. Maybe look at that as well.
  22. Hello guys felt like an update was welcome. After knocking my cat out and preforming the evry mod my sdi has come alive. Alot more power then what it had. Maybe a 6 hp boost and more torque. Doesnt sound like much but my estate finally can finally out pace a bus 😅 I have wired a switch into the cab and can active at will. Much better then leaving it permanetly on. Leaving it on causes irratic idle depending on what resistance you decide to use. In my case i used an 1k ohm potentiometer. Allows fine tuning for power without ruining gretas chillhood with smoke. Overall a great mod to liven up my sdi. Still get 60 mpg no matter how I drive. Great car.
  23. the annoying thing re: Petrol, because I didn't know my new car was going to be ready this week (even did the web chat yesterday morning and was told it still hadn't left Tyne!) so filled up my old car with petrol that I am trading in..!! Aaaagggh!
  24. Do you really believe that displaying a GB sticker will become an MOT failure or that European Ports will refuse entry to vehicles so adorned? This subject is becoming even more Kafkaesque.
  25. Changed oil pressure swich and car runs sweet as.No more low oil pressure.Figured out that it could be sensor as there was no any rattle with warning light. Then also engine looks prestine when taking oil cup off so rulled out blocked oil pickup pipe.
  26. Hi, It only drops down if you brake a bit. 😀 If you are behind another car and need to slow , say 5mph. That was my gripe. If you don't brake it doesn't drop down unless its a very steep hill and it can see you are speeding up a lot.
  27. White vinegar cleans road film off of glass very well. tom
  28. Ok. Would be grateful if you could keep us updated. I'd try myself, but filling my tank is a bit of a problem around here at the moment😏

In UK Superb estate SEL iv (met paint and reversing camera only extras) ordered 5 May. Arrived in UK a couple of weeks ago and at the dealer last Friday. Paperwork all done online and car registered today. In fact the V5 arrived in this morning's post. Collection 11 Oct (Mon week) because that's the earliest I can get there. As an aside, I was offered £12.5k for my trade in which was a very fair valuation at the time. However, used car prices have gone a bit silly and the dealer I originally bought the car from (Focus ST Estate, 66 plate, 38k miles) is giving me £16.2 for it. I have no idea why my car has come through so quickly compared the others who have been waiting longer.
  30. Not exactly a guide, but I think this'll be it here:
  31. I used a magnetic GB some of the time in France. On the ferry over and return we saw about 50% of UK vehicles with GB/UK signs. Someone suggested applying a UK sticker to my magnetic GB. That's what I will do next time. I would not be happy if this 'so called' government told me I had to change my EU badged number plates. Hope the silliness stops short of that.
  32. Why would you need a UK sticker on a French registered car? Carry on using your EU 'F' marked plate as normal.
  33. Only just got around to repairing this today, as its going for its MOT this afternoon and wasn't sure if the rear wash was part of the MOT? I had lost the spray nozzle and feared it had snapped off leaving the tube inside which could have been difficult to get out, thankfully that wasn't the case and the new nozzle popped straight in. It appears the cover cap stops the nozzle from being forced out when spraying the screen. Hook the hinged part of the cover on first then press back into place..
  34. I had this on my old Galaxy. Repaired it myself with this kit: https://www.furnitureclinic.co.uk/leather-steering-wheel-repair-kit I found it worked really well and made the steering wheel look like new.
  35. There's some very good guides for the Mk4 Golf (https://www.uk-mkivs.net/ is my go to for Mk4 stuff), should be very similar? I put heated seats in my old Mk4, laid the loom under the carpet and got it up and behind the dash but got lazy then and took it no further. The wiring wasn't difficult, I just lost the motivation. Sold the car with the business end of the loom coiled up near the windscreen.
  36. Welcome to the world of superbs, as brilliant as they are. they love a good rattle. if you search on the forum here you’ll get lots of ideas from connections behind the instrument cluster to fuel lines under the car. All cause rattles and if I was you I’d go through them one by one and eliminate them
  37. Nowhere for the tabs to go.... It's almost a solid black plastic sleeve in there.
  38. I second Evil on that, that wait time is taking the p*ss. Cant you just ask for a refund and get the kit or similar to what i linked? You'll save close to 50% of what you've spent and i imagine it'd come alot quicker lol
  39. Sorry, click bait. Not really any panic buying of Electricity, well not yet a Daily Express or Daily Mail headline. There must be those that had great Low Cost Off peak Charging at home deals that could lose them or already have because of companies going bust. Finding the great deals that were available might not be so easy now or in the near future. The cost to charge at Public & Charges provided by Commercial Firms might well have to increase while the Government wanted those to be cheaper. A wish and a dream maybe from the UK regulator. https://www.ft.com/content/bc83d298-8a8e-489f-9e45-74c6103b5c7f
  40. iV80 Suite, Energy Blue HUD Drive Assist Basic Park Assist Plus 125KW Charging Heat pump Ordered 25 Une 2021 Collecting TOMORROW!!!!
  41. Looks like i'm getting a new house then! These gearboxes have synchromesh on all gears except for reverse (it's the good old dog engagement type, and that's why you get people going "ohmagerd sometimes reverse gear won't go in unless i lift the clutch for a moment, my gearbox must be broke and this car is the worst thing ever made" - because the teeth just happen to be aligned in a way that it won't engage..) 1st and 2nd are double synchronised, to quote from the 02T gearbox workshop guide/manual: http://www.volkspage.net/technik/ssp/ssp/SSP_237_d1.pdf That will have an effect that makes 1st and 2nd a bit clunkier to shift into. I have found that the gearbox likes to be shifted with a big more weight to the throw. Trying to shift it really gently and lightly results in a clunky shift.
  42. Good news update for me! I got news that my car was finished today. So that was exactly 3 months wait for the build and so probably 4 months for actual delivery.
  43. Goodbye summer, see you next year.
  44. Eibach ProKits on my 220, with factory DCC. Ride height is perfect - 20mm drop. Springs r matched perfectly to the factory DCC shocks. Ride is way way way better now.

Agree with the above. £12.5 k offered for mine back at the start of May which was a reasonable offer at the time. New car being picked up 11 Oct so shopped around for a better price for mine. Best was £16.2 k from the Ford dealer I bought the car from. Skoda dealer couldn't match so ST going to the Ford dealer. Good used cars are making excellent money and dealers seem desperate for stock.
  46. Brexit baby, it's an ill wind...
