  1. "In other news..." Audi has bought McLaren! I hope they don't want to rebrand the F1 team. Although the thoughts of a Škoda F1 team is interesting, as is a 4.0 litre V8 Fabia - It would still be slower than a mk1 2.0 petrol Furby of course.
  2. A lovely day for cycling today with not a breath of wind and when the sun was out and paths were drying, but muddy on trails.

OK, so it was worth waiting for.
  4. I'd get the PSB polybushes if I were you, the Cupra solids are a PIG to fit even with the right tool which is expensive.

I always chop the wire off the one I'm replacing so I can use a proper deep socket because the split sockets are pants for removing seized sensors.
  6. Must admit, I thought 391 mobility scooters available was a bit frivolous too 😇 G
  7. Sorry to hear..... No Skoda here yet I still hang around....🤷‍♂️ Some of the other subsections in the forum are quite good

Don't use magic detailing crap on daily drivers, it's for making show cars glisten like freshly laid turds. Mr Muscle glass cleaner is just fine and dandy.
  9. And don't forget to tell your insurer about any mod - whether lowering, chipping, whatever. You'll be driving without insurance otherwise. Then your modest budget will be irrelevant.

's'ok; I've got the idea it actually is a glass polish, so I'm not surprised you have judder issues.
  11. PHEV should really be confined to 3.5kWh or 7kWh chargers as they just don't need anything faster, plus there should be a 1 hour time cap. The battery is likely in the region of 10-20kwH and even though it might be empty the car can move without it I really think anything faster should have a time cap for EV and a very short/more expensive tarrif for PHEV. Whilst I don't have an electric, we see cars in shopping centres plugged in when you arrive and 4 hours later they're still plugged in. Some poor sod in an electric car is looking for a charging point and actually needs it.
  12. @DutchVRS .... Very nice job, impressive. May I ask you ... for the rear doors ... woofers have the same diameter than woofers from front doors? I would say yes ... but just to confirm. Cheers!
  13. We've just driven an ID3 and I have to say, it's the worst "new" car I think I've ever driven if you want to take it out of the city. The suspension left us feeling sea sick as it really struggled to controll the weight of the vehicle, particularly when coming to a reasonably abrupt (but not full) stop. Has the dealer failed to do something/are there options for better suspension or is this a typical setup? SWMBO thought it didn't brake well (She wasn't wrong compared to others), dislike the suspnesion (If I'm honest I didn't believe her until I drove it) and hated the touch screen as she felt it was dangerous. There were too many presses and too much having to look to turn on/off normal features, particularly the I'm going to try and slam you into the debris at the side of the road "lane assist"
  14. Basically - yes, why not?
  15. Lovely autumnal colours today..........

Hi all Just taken delivery of my first skoda,. Looking forward to picking your brains and helping out of I can (this is hugely unlikely, be warned lol) Cheers 😄😄

    Thanks you, 🙂
  18. If you're having an independent do it maybe splurge for the front bush too, while they're that far in I'm sure they won't mind. If I ever get to the point of renewing bushes on mine i'd go for those PSbushings ones. If they did top mounts and dogbone bushes I'd have gotten mine from them too.
  19. Polyurethane bushes are almost always much easier to fit compared to normal rubber ones so if you're doing it yourself thats worth keeping in mind too. Edit:Too slow on the reply.
  20. I thought about those but I don't know how long it'll be before this one is relegated to second car duties for whenever I buy my second car, definitely another Mk1 Fabia but an estate hopefully.
  21. I considered doing the rears on mine ever so slightly, but the insurance would bankrupt me...
  22. There's nothing worse than not having your car. As a side note, is this an excuse to replace the other windows for the same green tints???
  23. Window arrived today. Only thing is that it's green tinted and the car only has clear windows. Didn't look tinted in the ebay pic and wasn't listed as tinted. Will drive my OCD mad 🤪 Oh well, at least I'll have the car back as I'm lost without it.
  24. A friend of mine took his Ford and asked if they would tweak it to make it run at its optimum without affecting his insurance. They updated his engine map to the latest software for that model from Ford, job done. Smoother, more flexible, slightly better fuel consumption. I had a similar experience with my diesel fFocus, the engine had stopped dead with no warning on two ocassions, leaving me and the wife in extremely dangerous situations. I gave the car back to the dealer and told them to keep it until they got it sorted. To give them their due they kept it for a week and tried allsorts including the latest updated engine map. It turned out to be a fuel tank vaccuum caused by the fuel cap. The car was duly returned and absolutely flew and at no cash cost to me.
  25. Sounds about right. If a "more budget" setup is required I'd go for the following: Springs (if current shocks are ok) Dog bone insert (really tightened up the front end for me) Pedal box (improved response) None of that should affect insurance much if at all and should come in no more than 400 notes total.
  26. the big tesco scissors is obscuring which clubland album thats is...
  27. Obviously each to their own for modifying their own cars to suit their needs. Would I be far off expecting the suggested mods being, Remap : £400 -500. Suspension: £600 -1000 fitted for springs and shocks. "budget" is a bendy term. 😄

I've used literal wax before and never had an issue on any car, doesnt last that long for obvious reasons so in that sense its usually more hassle than its worth.
  29. It's so that it can carry sponsored adverts. Cheaper for them than getting people to sponsor the roundabouts and having to plant flowers, shrubs etc and maintain them, if they dont pay their bill someone elses ad will be put up. Nowhere is sacrosanct now, even staring at the wall of a motorway services urinal contemplating the meaning of life while discharging I was assaulted by advertising. Those of you with your infotainment displays are on borrowed time, you will have to pay for an adblock.
  30. Now we just have to wait until some of the bulbs blow and one of the exits magically dissappears!

I find the edge of mine lifts if i'm going over 80 ""kph"", doesnt make a noise though. I find a bit of wax on the glass helps water come off easier.
  32. It's all kicking off at McLaren it seems. Autocar, one of the world's most respected magazines claimed Audi had bought McLaren, but now McLaren are strenuously refuting this claim. Autocar are usually pretty much spot on with these things, so it will be interesting to see what comes of the claim. I know BMW were also looking at buying McLaren.
  33. I was able to cancel the previous all-in plan after just two dd payments and renew it at the reduced rate. It took a call to my dealer - to check the viability of my idea, a call to Skoda Finance - who was able to cancel the current arrangement and a second call to my dealer - who was able to set-up the new arrangement. It all seems to have gone through very smoothly without a further 'eligibility check' needed on the car. I'm glad that I made the effort to pursue this and I offer my thanks to 33q for bringing this to our attention. Thank you! 👍 It appears that the offer is only available during November......... https://www.skoda.co.uk/owners/all-in-service-plan
  34. Question is, who would be co-driver for the team? Obviously Mil would be overtake like a king in the 2.0 fabia

Yep I fixed one but in a matter of weeks i,ve been clobbered on both and this one is repairable will have a look about online a bit more.
  36. The car has an inbuilt data connection. I can request defect reports from mine while it's locked on the driveway and not connected to any external wifi/data connection. I get up to date info when it hasn't been connected to anything. The cars also have the SOS button that works without external data connections In terms of sending routes etc, it needs an external date source ie an additional sim card in the slot in the glovebox or a wifi hotspot (I use my iphone)
  37. The fact that the fault code reader states that the CAN gateway module was "inactive" I suspect that the ignition was switched off...or the CAN gateway module is faulty..
  38. Which is just wrong! More so when the places I've usually had to brake hardest are 40mph and 50mph urban roads!
  39. No, I will admit we didn't as it was a test drive. It would have accounted for the general wobblyness of the feel, but I am not sure it would account for what felt like an underdamped/sprung car under breaking. As the ID3 is aimed more at a city car than a motorway cruiser, I can only think (and could be wrong) that the suspension has been left a bit softer to soak up the bad roads for the high weight. However when you get onto a DC and have to brake hard, the car literally rocked forward then back on stopping like a rocking horse. Interesting to read that, I might see if I can hunt out a max as that was one of the ones we were considering along with the tour. This one wasn't a tour, it was a standard range model. I imagine it didn't help that we've also had a drive of a few others, including the EV6 before hand. Comparing an ID3 to an EV6 and iPace isn't really fair. From the two replied above it does sound like something was not right with the one we drove.

I use Bosch on my Fabia and don't seem to have any issues.
  41. And one more. Bit of a challenge to get in a position where I could take this shot!
  42. Certainly do. To the uninitiated it's pronounced Mil-guy rather than Miln-gav-ay😀

VWG are very fractured with their software development but it sounds like they are trying to sort it. The MEB platform is the first iteration of VWG cars sharing a common platform both hardware and software, I think they plan another interaction of closer integration between the brands (think they said 2026) and finally a V3 of this common platform will eventually bring all brands together on a single software (and cloud) solution. This was presented at IAA 2021 (search for CARIAD IAA 2021 on YouTube). Not quite as bad as Android as it least the platform here (MEB) consists of shared hardware and software so the base is at least the same. Interesting to see Audi have moved away from the stock look and feel with their MEB Q4 e-tron, I wonder how much customisation of s/w they have done other than to reskin it. Skoda haven't given any more details than that tweet I posted so unsure as to what the update for OTA will do. It appears all ENYAQ are on a s/w version the same or greater than the ID cars 2.1 which was the enabler for their OTA. So the 'update' may be nothing more than enabling an OTA config/flag to allow it. However VW have said for V3 that they need the cars in to update modules that are currently not OTA-updatable so its highly likely that is the same in the ENYAQ. The rumour is at least one module that is required for the upgraded charging (rumoured 125kW for smaller battery and 170kW for larger batter) is not currently OTA-able and that is what requires the dealer visit. So maybe we will just make the jump to V3. Other than OTA, it looks like the ENYAQ is pretty much on VW's 2.1.
  44. Bit of Dynamat in the boot.
  45. I said I wouldn't spend any more money on the car but it seems I can't help myself. Occasionally the windows steam up at this time of year, usually when I've picked the kids up and they've been running around at one of their clubs. It can make it difficult to see when reversing onto the drive in the dark, especially seeing as the rear windows have such a heavy tint. I decided to get some wind deflectors to allow some air in whilst keeping the rain out to help with the issue. I went for the Team Heko variant as I've had them before on other cars and they were a good fit. The rears went in just fine but the fronts were a bit of a pain to wrestle into place. I managed to not snap them (as I have in the past) and they fitted quite well. Fingers crossed they'll help with the steaming up issue and are a worthwhile investment.
