  1. I had the pleasure of meeting James, JayEmm on cars a few weeks ago, for a very interesting afternoon. the results are here,
  2. I don't know to be honest, i had a obd thing plugged in all the time i've had the car as i knew about the service campaign, DSG temp has never gone above 40 degrees but i don't know what the pressures should be, and Pete i'm still going to frequent the forum as still love Skoda's, just going back to my roots as Mazda's have been in the family since 1986 with my dads first 626, my brother still has 2 very rare 626 coupes, 1 being a ultra rare TWR edition that had a factory body kit and tweaked ECU, gave 170bhp rather then 150bhp, back in 1989 and 1991 that was huge power out of a 2.0ltr 16v engine, now that common out a tiny 1.4 16v engine. shame the coupes are not roadworthy, brilliant things to drive.
  3. Skoda UK now has new Fabia brochure dated 1st March 2022 which includes Monte Carlo. However to match other brands spec need to add lots of packages and that causes price to jump, even hitting £30k if have them all https://www.skoda.co.uk/_doc/775d73bc-eb9d-4a50-911e-863d73b99333 So in my view, overpriced, compared to say a VW Polo GTI or Seat Arona FR sport
  4. @ords Only if you do not have the Services carried out to the Manufacturers Recommendations @ a VAT registered establishment etc etc to the Warranty T&C's. Nothing says you can not service or do oil changes between Oil & Filter changes 'to the manufacturers recommendations.
  5. Attenborough Nature Reserve earlier this afternoon

I hope you make a full recovery soon. Enjoy your new car when the time comes 😁
  7. Right now my worry personally is low considering the events in Ukraine and those poor people there. I got a deal that’s great thanks to the situation but I might have to wait. Good deal is worth waiting for. But yeah definitely some who have already been waiting a year or whatever..l feel for those folks.
  8. Somewhere near Ravenglass.
  9. @Ttaskmaster It certainly is what many of them come up with but certainly not all of them. Some people seem perfectly happy with them and some must be left or right handed and drive right or left hand drive cars. Luckily you can still get EV's still without that sort of screen and still ones with smaller screens and buttons.
  10. They're just a broker and act as an introduction to a particular dealer. From then on, it's as though you walked into that dealer off the street - albeit with the negotiations done up front.
  11. Why do EV designers insist on having an iPad glued to the dash and sticking out sore thumb style, like this? Is this the best they can come up with?
  12. Loads of birds at Attenborough, but didn't spot the king fisher today unfortunately
  13. Someone has pinched your seat 😉 Thanks for the progress report, keep it up, it's great!
  14. Just finished watching this now! Very cool to have your car featured on a somewhat popular channel 👍 I think his review was really well presented and he captured all what makes the vRS a really capable and likeable car.

I tried to do my own and they were rubbish. I bit the bullet and bought from superskoda and they’re really nice (black with white background)
  16. Potentially make it very tricky, unless doing the scheduled services at Skoda or another independent with receipts to spec. I only buy cars over 3 years..... All I can afford for one, servicing options another.... depreciation already incurred another...
  17. Fair point thanks for the reply
  18. If you have the screw on type of fitting you can add on one of these to the end:- https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B098QR7958/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Thanks, AG Falco

Perfectly, have installed 225/55r17 97Y Michelin Primacy 3 in far 2017
  20. Factory Xenons are terrible, however it does sound like your left side high beam solenoid is not working. In another thread recently a guy simply replaced the crappy xenon headlamps for standard halogen units, he had to upgrade the fuses as well but it was an easy conversion otherwise.

225/55r17 is perfect choice +1.5% in diameter what gives less wheel spin on the wet and closer to reality values on speedometer, -2km for each 100km, default is -5km +5mm in height what gives ground clearance +10mm in width what gives better grip 5mm wider side, better protection for alloys
  22. HBA and Light Assist are 2 different options. My previous 2015 Octavia had HBA not Light Assist so there was no Light Assist menu in the infotainment and no HBA menu in the infotainment either.

Just spotted your motor going down the a57. Looking good 👍
  24. If I remember my Mk3 had totally different roof rails to my Mk4, I will be very surprised if the rail connecting ends fit. However you might be able to just get replacement ends.
  25. @AlienAl The Skoda Kodiaq Sportline 1.5TSI DSG is not cheap or cheap to run as petrol gets to over 150 pence a litre. EV's are not a joke in price for many who are business users and saving thousands in tax in the UK and getting electricity free or cheap or even at half the cost of petrol & diesel even if paying 50 pence a kWh for electric. Even private owners / drivers can see the saving over the cost of an ICE. Home / Work Electric charging costs will be rising as will Public Charging. Delays in EV's being produced will happen as many materials are going to be restricted as they come from Russia & the Ukraine, minerals, metals and components made from these.
  26. I have the same problem. I have take mine apart and the resistor is fine (I tried bridging it anyway). £700 for a replacement - I don't think so - and it was crap anyway. But, you can disable the functionality in the the Infotainment system under Lights. I've done that and it no longer pings or gives any error. It still shows an error on a VCDS/OBDeleven scan, but no error on the dash. HTH, Nick

Hi all, Jon in London just picked up an Octavia
  28. Skoda chat told me lease order also means fleet order. So anyone who hasn’t ordered direct from the dealer seems to have a lease/fleet order.
  29. Either dipstick not put in fully or oil cap loosly put back on would be the most obvious culprits I can think of.
  30. You used it when you made this post, I think it is now "submit reply" Reply to this thread with your details and I'm sure Gizmo will add you to the list 👍
  31. Today Škoda revealed the Monte Carlo Sport looks package, this is interesting combo with 1.5 TSI with 150 HP, as there is no clue if there will ever be VRS version fans would like to see.
  32. I'm not sure if you can disable hba on a lowline module... The only reason that module would ever be fitted is when hba is enabled. The most obvious/correct path would be to for a non hba rear view mirror and then code it out from the other modules in the car. I'm also pretty sure it's a 0 ohm resistor that fails in these. You could always open it up, checking for the burnt out resistor and if applicable, replacing it with a wire...?
  33. Hi guys, name is Drew, just bought a 2012 Octavia vrs tsi in grey, take delivery on the 14th and am looking forward to being a part of the community.
  34. Thanks, im coming from a Mk4 golf tdi that had a fair bit of work done to it, but the ULEZ has put pay to it unfortunately, after my test drive of it yesterday I’m pretty much in love at the moment, many plans for the car over the next few years as well
  35. In a 1.6 DSG TDI, 2 passengers, 280 miles on the A1 and trying to maintain 70 to 75 mph, trip computer says 63 mpg. Same trip towing a 1150 Kg caravan @ 60 mph, 34 mpg.
  36. Don't worry! No springs come flying off. Just remove the 5 Torx screws and the wind deflector is attached on both sides, which allows you to pivot the wind deflector out of the way. This gives you full access to the troublesome joints. Just keep any water off the roof whilst undertaking the repair. The longer you can take on the repair the better chance of success. Just remember, keep the car dry throughout.
  37. I've got a manual vrs and am on my second clutch and looks like that one has just died. First one got replaced in December after getting temp warnings and errors around 6000 miles. Skoda wouldn't cover under the warranty so had to pay for the replacement. Day after I got it back the electronic parking brake and hold assist wouldn't release so it went back in. Issue was a faulty ABS control unit which they said also caused the clutch issue apparently, so I got the cost of the clutch refunded. Last week the epb and hold assist issue reoccurred followed by a clutch issue where I can hardly put it into gear and a 'loose' feeling on the pedal. Can't get it into the dealer for another 2 weeks, so Skoda assist are coming out tomorrow. Fed up with this car now and all the software issues and mechanical problems, think I'll be giving Skoda finance a call to hand it back.
  38. Some more content from the Canton retrofit, this wind and rain is hampering efforts. Subwoofer fitted and wiring ran for the subwoofer and offside door wiring. also ran my blind spot assist wiring whilst I was here
  39. Well, it's done. Much to my surprise the car sounds quieter, drives "better", more new car feel. Since I've had the car from new and it's on 122k, it now seems to have a new lease of life - not that there was anything really wrong with it. A lot of pushing/pulling/levering did not show any joint movement/ slackness - but I'm happier now.
  40. For congested urban only driving and if you are a bit heavy-footed then it could be about right. Having a manual might be worse too if you keep it in lower gears more often, as the 7 speed DSG might be more efficient for stop start, slow speed conditions perhaps. I have 1.5 dsg and I do mixed driving and the long term average is 5.4L. I see closer to 7l when the traffic is more stop-start.
  41. Note to self. Unplug charging cables in future🙂
  42. Problem solved. It was a phone charging cable that was smouldering at the connection end. It had fallen down onto the floor so I didn’t notice it. It’s also burned a hole into my rubber foot mat. I was about to charge up to the dealers as well and have a moan.

Anyway, Skoda stood the bill, it's easier to sell than with no engine
  44. Copied you with satin black powder coated xtremes on a meteor grey 245. Think it looks better than the original diamond cut which looked like a flower pattern to me. Drove through some rain on way home so bit grubby already, which I didn't help with finger prints, but you get the idea!
  45. Original battery no, an identical replacement battery will need the serial number held in the battery management system updating (just change 1 digit).

These two statements are blatant lies!
  47. @kodiaqsportline I have told you what i have done and i have worked in VW Group Dealerships and in Scotland's biggest Dealership groups. You never give much of a clue what you have done or do. It is not unrealistic. it is you that seems to not know what has gone before. FMDSH's and the Dealerships including ones you have said you bought cars at or have had them serviced at would not Reset Service Indicators without a Service being done. Hence if they get the Services out of sequence the customer does not need to be the one paying to have a Oil Change done because an Oil Service shows as being due. People / Customers need not be inconvenienced or give up their time to go to dealerships because a Manager or Master Tech can not train staff to do the job correctly that a customer already paid for. It is for them to take the hit, they are not made of sugar. They need to face up to errors.
  48. Filling station air inflators / compressors you pay 20 or 50 pence to use are calibrated and maintained by professionals. These are accurate.
  49. Don’t forget to order the PAL version NOT the NTSC one😬

You're absolutely right. I did a video some time ago - It starts with the setting on it's default position "driving on the right", then going in the menu, and actually selecting "driving on the right", which changes the beam. Then, select "driving on the left", then "right" again, etc. It appears, that even though the "driving on the right" option seems selected in the menu, it's actually not. So if you want to change it to "driving on the left", you need to first select "...the right", then "...the left" if it make sense... Long story short, even if the menu says "driving on the right", the lights are actually set up properly for "driving on the left". Hope it helps!
