  1. It’s not a myth! The cars do exist! Arrived this morning 😍
  2. One thing that I forgot to mention, the noise I thought was from a front wheel bearing turned out to be a distorted wheel on the rear. Can you not put the spare on each corner in turn to check if one particular wheel is the problem ?
  3. Around two months ago now I swapped my Mk1 Fabia for this blue weapon. Cheapest one I could find at the time which wasn't rotten, battered or broken, so I expected a few niggles and here they are: Poor fuel economy down to suspected binding rear brakes - one caliper already replaced and the other arrived today and will be done shortly. Very unevenly worn front tyres - practically bald on the inside edge, these have now been replaced with some nice Goodyears but I reckon the alignment is out (probably contributing to the poor fuel economy as well). The car had gone nearly 20k miles without a service when I bought her, so immediately replaced the oil, oil filter, fuel filter, air filter and cabin filter which made me a lot happier - the old oil came out looking like molasses 🤮 Oil in the coolant (but thankfully not the other way around) - I replaced the oil cooler and gave the coolant a good flush through to rectify this - there is still a little in there as it seemed to be impossible to get the whole lot out but there is a lot less than before and it doesn't appear to be accumulating over time. Very scary injector issue which caused the car to drop a cylinder and go into limp mode while coming off a roundabout - this transpired to be a faulty injector loom, a much more palatable amount of money to sort than a faulty injector. The paint isn't great - lacquer peel on the bonnet and little bits of missing paint on the rear bumper, along with tiny scratches and swirl marks over most of the body which should come out with a thorough polish. It does clean up relatively well though and the colour is gorgeous. Other than that list the car is great - huge boot, much better seats than the Fabia and cruise control keeps me happy on the motorway. It also has a good bit of go (although not that much more than the PD130 Fabia) and handles pretty well for a sizeable car if you can stop things flying around in the massive boot! I'll try to keep this thread going - I'll add a little bit on some of the jobs I've done already and keep updating with any other small fixes or upgrades as I get around to doing them - hopefully no big ones!
  4. It was all about the colours and reflections at Rufford Park this evening..........
  5. It was rather breezy at Attenborough nature reserve today. Lots of birds to see, although sadly a few signs of avian flu were evident ☹️ Spotted our first goslings of the year - Egyptian geese I believe. There were 6 in total and the parents were in close attendance.
  6. A few from my camera (Attenborough nature reserve)
  7. Hi Night Shadow, recommended pressures are on the tyre pressure placard inside the fuel flap.
  8. Unfortunately whether it's servicing or maintenence, if the Haldex pump fails on a sub 3 year old vehicle that's exceeded 40,000 miles without having a Haldex oil change they're more likely to reject a genuine warranty claim than approve it. But then Skoda's unwillingness to include the cleaning of the filter gauze is more likely to result in failure than ignoring the oil change.
  9. Just look left. Is there someone in the seat. Look at the seat belt, are they wearing it? Job done and cost nothing.
  10. Just an update. Did put a sheet of cardboard under the engine after a car journey and no drips. Also been monitoring the level, which has stayed the same. So can only assume it was an airlock as suggested. Many thanks for the advice given here, I was panicking to start with. It shows these forums work. Cheers, Tim

If you have the very first one, 7AA, your car has an immobiliser but no alarm system. Any other letter and the system is as described here:
  12. I don't think he is. Most service/petrol stations will carry bulbs for passing motorists who have a bulb failure. If you want to be "posh, innit" then go to Halfords and get bulbs, but honestly anything that throws enough lumens in front of you will do the job.
  13. The battery is not the problem. It never has been.
  14. Be safe @RCC49 it's really not recimmended to mix them.
  15. VW Group are particularly bad at wording. I can see how the above can appear confusing, but here's how I read it: It says: "To ensure your vehicle is maintained in good condition, it should be serviced in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations." So, if the vehicle that you're buying has a proper Skoda service history then it has been maintained to a good condition. If you read on, it only mentions vehicle servicing. That's all they're saying. Those recommended maintenance items such as Haldex oil and brake fluid etc aren't mentioned. The warranty company are advised by the dealership. Example: If you buy a 4yr old car from Skoda with an approved warranty and they change the Haldex oil just before you buy it, if that car then develops a gearbox fault say in the next six months, the dealership or warranty company can hardly refuse to fix a problem because you haven't maintained it properly. For argument sake, lets say you changed the oil but they still say the car wasn't properly maintained. The car was therefore faulty when you bought it - it now falls back on the dealer to fix it. Now if you were that dealership would you advise the warranty company to cover costs or do you pay for the repair out of your own pocket? Are you saying that the car is already 4yr and 40k miles. that 1yr approved warranty will take that up to 5yr old and what ever miles you've added to it, and then you want to cover it for a further 2yr? I don't care if the engine was serviced every week and the gearbox oil changed every 1000 miles, I'd be reading that extended warranty very carefully. I'd be asking myself what isn't going to come under the description of normal wear and tear? I suspect very little will be covered by that warranty. Right now Toyota are providing a 1yr warranty with every service on their cars up to 10year old. It's a great sales gimmick but I'd like to see the small print. It'd be interesting to see how much is paid out by the warranty provider on say a nine year old car. Or if your KIA's infotainment display fails at 37mths, try claiming on KIA's famous 7yr warranty! The best you can hope for would be a gesture of goodwill. As I say, it's all in the smallprint.

That seems about wright; I didn't know about that, and searched the web -> some pictures below: later.edit. Last picture is even clearer - found it directly on GMaps among the pictures from the factory
  17. That's brilliant from someone coming on here wanting help to sort a problem You are too thin skinned to see when others are trying to help. I am trembling. EDIT: Post here from above where anybody insinuates you are a liar.

Another vote for Heko as a brand worth considering. Had them on four different Skodas now and can't fault them.
  19. No, no, not you causing confusion, probably me but I'm too confused to know if its me or not, and if so by how much. I was surprised a yung 'un like yerself would know of V2000, and yes it was, no idea what came available when as I don't think we could afford to rent a colour TV let alone a VCR. Most people think of Betamax and VHS both inferior, at the time, and later to the V2000. The success of VHS lead to the restriction of CDs as the two losing companies didn't want to be caught out again. I've got a (proper) Super VHS VCR sitting unplugged under the telly if you know anyone that uses such stuff now.

Much needed brake overhaul to mtec dimpled/grooved discs and ebc greenstuff pads. Took much longer than it should have due to every bolt being about 6 million nm tight. All back together to find I'd got a stuck slider (should have checked really, rookie error). All good now though
  22. Most Tesco filling stations have a selection of bulb kits
  23. Yes yes, I know the differences between both formats. Philips introduced V2000 if I'm right in saying, and JVC the VHS later on in 1976 (IIRC). I was merely stating that I still used VHS, it wasn't of relevance really. Sorry for whatever confusion I've caused here, as I am, as usual, also confused. Anyway, although complicated, the OP should give VCDS-Lite a shot at least for trial purposes. Gendan sell the cable required for it, but please do your research first. Otherwise, use the reader thing you bought from EuroCarParts with your smart-phone or tablet via Bluetooth and use an app like Carista or whatever folk use. I've been using 'Garage Pro' and it was good for doing checks across all things on the car and bringing codes back. I have no codes at the moment as my car has randomly started working again, but I must be careful, it could be listening to me.

Was it 'Sarah' you were dealing with matey, I found her most pleasant and helpful unlike the guy that took my order?
  25. Yes and that's my point you know about computers yet still you need to learn it. I know how to operate a V2000 VCR (you'll need to look that up) but it's no longer the 1970s when also I learnt about computers too, main frame, punch card not quite Babbage but ancient now, I'll give the Ross Tech a miss thank you. I am not knocking that and think it's great especially for those that need or want to use them or learn how to use them. Personally this sort of thing doesn't interest me but I don't mind others enjoy it, I just look at the page as presented. - <body class="ipsApp ipsApp_front ipsJS_has ipsClearfix ipsApp_noTouch" data-controller="core.front.core.app,nbenhadverts.front.global.global" data-message="" data-pageapp="forums" data-pagelocation="front" data-pagemodule="forums" data-pagecontroller="topic" data-pageid="502931"> <a href="#ipsLayout_mainArea" class="ipsHide" title="Go to main content on this page" accesskey="m">Jump to content</a> <div id="ipsLayout_header" class="ipsClearfix"> <header> <div class="ipsLayout_container"> > <img src="https://www.briskoda.net/forums/uploads/reactions/Crying_Emoji_Icon_2_70x70.png" alt="Crying" data-ipstooltip="" title="Crying" loading="lazy"> <span class="ipsReact_name">Crying</span> </a> </li> <li> <a href="https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/502931-dodgy-obd2-reader/?do=reactComment&amp;comment=5647107&amp;reaction=7&amp;csrfKey=3e104d6a4a5679f74936529a1c37ac81" class="ipsReact_reaction" data-role="reaction"> <img src="https://www.briskoda.net/forums/uploads/reactions/Groan4.png" alt="Groan" data-ipstooltip="" title="Groan" loading="lazy"> <span class="ipsReact_name">Groan</span> ds"></div> <iframe name="__privateStripeMetricsController1040" frameborder="0" allowtransparency="true" scrolling="no" allow="payment *" src="https://js.stripe.com/v3/m-outer-23335cd0c833d03926d94e8fb5cb0381.html#url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.briskoda.net%2Fforums%2Ftopic%2F502931-dodgy-obd2-reader%2F%3Ftab%3Dcomments%23comment-5650818&amp;title=Dodgy%20OBD2%20reader%3F%20-%20Skoda%20Fabia%20Mk%20II%20-
  26. I mean the small "Skoda" badge but in gloss black.
  27. With respect I can think of no such service stations in the part of Soth Oxfordshire I live in. It might have been true 50 years or so ago.
  28. As I'm not paying for it then yes but it's been a while since Tesco had some. Our Fuel card isn't accepted at Asda .
  29. I’d go Skoda gloss black. Those BMW and Audi ones are tragic.

True, and the absolute irony...hes got a damn fast BTC Racing Honda for his final year.
  31. @Yetianimal - were you able to check if my previous theory was correct? Mostly to help anyone else in a similar situation but also as I'm genuinely curious. I've added my post below for reference:

You can clearly see some are different color if you zoom in.
  33. Car allowance and salary sacrifice users far outweigh business users when it comes to electric cars, so they choose according to taste not efficiency - other than Tesla the ranges are all pretty similar. If we went down the road of efficiency and task orientated then wouldn't we all just be driving round in the same flat white cars with cloth interiors, 15 inch wheels and no sunroofs - bit boring? Surely car enthusiasts consider more than "status symbol" don't you think? The car industry is just part of the big capitalist cog, along with everything else we consume in large numbers.
  34. Free to good home (just pay the postage - £3.10) For Skoda Octavia Mk3 A7 5E Dynamic LED Turn Signal Blinker Mirror flasher Light 2014 2015 2016 2017 2018 2019 Ignore the years shown above. I think this is for post-FL models only. Bought from Aliexpress, cheap as chips - Shop912186481 Store - but it is the wrong fitment. I’ve just replaced the damaged indicator repeater on my pre-FL Octy III with an OEM part. The electric lead plugs into the light on my model. However, this pair are different – they have their leads and connector already attached, so I think this is the fitment for the post-FL models. Comes complete with a trim tool and the correct torx bit. No use to me, but if someone covers the postage they can have them.
  35. Er, "Bayerische Mist Wagon" is a urine extraction; it's also German.
  36. Polo platform seats should fit fine, for steering wheel you could just upfit the MFSW, not sure if you'll need to replace the clockspring or not.
  37. That is not what I said, I said "when he took delivery of it". IOW the supplying dealer must have changed a setting in the mfd.
  38. How is something “dynamic” if it doesn’t move? 🙃
  39. I'm 6 foot and wouldn't have a hope of sleeping in my Fabia hatchback, I think the estate's about 6" longer, so I'll go with a no on that. My Octavia hatchback is fine for it though. The worst I have to do is wind the seat back up a bit or slide it forwards.
  40. Didn’t know that Sportlines are now no longer available seems really unfair having waited so long! First build for ours was advised as week 6 (unconfirmed) went confirmed week 9 and delivered at dealer week 12. Had reached the point where we were considering cancelling and ordering a new Kia Sportage when it went confirmed! The Kia would have been delivered in 4-6 weeks but £50 more expensive.
  41. So I removed the jet unit and poked a thin cable tie down the feed tube but it was too short to reach the bottom. I got a much longer but thicker tie and cut it down the centre to reduce its width. I poked this gently up and down the pipe hitting the bottom of the 90 degree angle and after a few goes, hey presto, the water bubbled-up the pipe and out of the top! The car had been standing for 6 months following me rescinding my license following a suspected stroke, so I’m sure it was just blocked by the screen wash crystalising at the bend. Anyway, works perfectly now and thoroughly soaked a couple of people on the NS and OS pavements earlier this afternoon; oops… I really must re-adjust them jets!
  42. Probably the 190 300 and 310 horsepower engines too. The cover is the same, 300/310 I think has a different turbo, but the location is the same too.
  43. Thanks, yes that's what I thought and inline with JKMs assessment, I too have only ever experienced very good service from them, through friends and several family members. I trust them over and above the main dealers, we had to get an official Skoda diagnosis to move forward with Skoda UK. Can't help wondering if they have given it all the all clear for fear of us taking it further.
  44. Our 2017 1.2 DSG Yeti does very slowly engage the clutch and move gently forward after foot is taken off the brake without touching the accelerator. It continues moving slowly until brake is applied again. That's on the flat, not sure if it's the same on a hill. Mileage is about 43K. Use JKM ourselves and never had reason to complain, which is not something I can say about the main dealer.
  45. Every Yeti has KPH on the Maxidot. For those that have had it changed to MPH with VCDS or Carista etc there is a tick-box in the options to change it between MPH and KPH in seconds

I fitted Heko ones to my Yeti so that I could leave the windows cracked to prevent it getting too hot inside in the summer which is the same reason that I fitted mesh blinds to all the glass aft of the driver's and front seat passenger's windows. It's best to fit then in warm weather or at least, heat them up first. Also, they do increase wind noise, especially in combination with my roof bars. It can get a bit raucous into a head wind at 70 mph.

Team Heko... £38 off eBay with free delivery. Mine really changed my car (ignoring the other modifications).

With my DSG Automatic gearbox the dashboard will show: Normal driving mode: D1, D2, D3, etc Eco mode: E1, E2, E3, etc Sport mode: S1, S2, S3, etc.
  49. UPDATE - Yesterday I went to my Skoda dealer and they connected to car - probably with decoder or something and they manually activated WIFI. It was disabled in factory. Don't know why - and they don't know either. Now - There is WIFI in the settings and Android auto works wirelessly without any problems. Hope that is solution for others with 10'' Bolero with missing WIFI in settings and AA not working wirelessly.
