Guys, today my daughter was born 😃, before Skoda was able to produce any info, let alone the car itself and I ordered the car in July. At least she was on time, so that is something

My car was completed on the 28th and released, was at Emden 2 days later, on a ship to Grimsby yesterday and is now in Grimsby doc. Dealer says they now have 2 weeks to deliver to them In Sheffield. Could be sooner. So overall once built( which took 1 year) delivery is quite quick. also now it’s in the UK if you enter your VIN in the MySkoda App, it will accept it and appear in your virtual Garage but you can’t activate until you get your hands on the keys. its been a long wait for us all, hope you all get some positive news soon.
  3. Tranquil evening..........
  4. Hi all, I got the bearing yesterday from the dealers and fitted it this evening. Its actually not too hard, the Drive2RU link given above is pretty accurate and was a nice reference when doing it. -You do need to absolutely destroy the old bearing to remove it. Jam a flat screwdriver in and twist until a load of plastic breaks off, repeat until it comes out. Just be aware there is a small rubber band you need to swap over You'll need to remove the gear knob which on mine was simply turning a little clip sideways. I cleaned much of the copperslip off and used silicon grease instead The plastic bearing slips over the top of the gearstick easily and clips in. And that's basically it. Took me an hour and fixed 99% of the side to side slop on mine. For the sake of €11 from the dealers, well worth doing, was a lot cheaper than a new shifter and honestly fairly easy to do. For reference, this shifter is similar to the one found in Mk6 on golfs, its NOT the same as a mk1 fabia which is like a Mk4 Golf shifter. If anyone in the future is having this sort of trouble, this worked for me. Hopefully these photos are of some help to someone. Thanks all for the advice.
  5. Same I’m not even particularly keen on Skoda as their dealers are in my experience a bit annoying compared to my experience elsewhere. But I’ve had a Toyota, several VWs, an Audi back in the day, and now have a SEAT too and I still look at some Skoda cars and just think ‘what is better than this’ and can’t answer it. Enyaq, Kodiaq, Kamiq for me are all pretty much the best in class. Fabia too is right up there. Excluding of course the obvious luxury models. Kodiaq just won best large suv in auto express announced this morning.
  6. Is it not as simple as Skoda has a smaller market share as an emerging brand rather than a long established one like Audi, BMW, VW etc. But like lots of emerging brands (you can’t really call Skoda the same brand as the one pre full VW takeover 20 years ago) they have to build products that their customers love and retain the value proposition. Audi will sell just because it’s an Audi and have cars like the Q3 for example to prove it. There is nothing at all special about a Q3 beyond the Audi badge. Whereas Skoda have to fight for that value proposition and also keep their customers happy with good finish and build quality. I suspect that’s all this is. VW in my experience have gone downhill in last five or six years to point where I think a many Skoda cars are simply plusher and more expensive looking than their VW equivalents.

Hi all, I ordered an Octavia Estate SEL in July 2021, I've just had a call from the lease company to say it's been built and they've sent me the reg. They said the car may be in the UK by the end of the month but they don't know. Does anybody know how long this part of the process may take? I've been pretty relaxed about the whole thing until I got the call last week and now I can't wait Cheers

    Fixed that for ya...

I believe congratulations are in order, welcome baby girl 🥳🥳 Let’s just hope you get your car before she blows the first candle 😉
  10. A while ago I thought the new Fabia would be a front runner as a replacement for our No.2 car at the end of the year, but the obscenely priced Extra Packages have probably sunk that idea. The base car has been stripped bare. I’ll be looking closely at the competition.

Went on my first serious (ish) ride on my Strike 940 today ............ On my own, as waiting for my mate to move house and take delivery of his Orbea Rise. Few niggles and I have chopped the bars a little and cut some of the cabling down too. I think Scott just put the longest cables on it they could find. It certainly put a smile on my face though. Looking forward to getting it out again. Checked out it's climbing ability and I still cannot understand why these bikes need such a huge cassette. I tackled a very steep 100yd gravel slope using the 34T / 25t combo. (I think that equates roughly to a 39T / 28t) In Emtb mode. Very easy with just the 25 cassette ring. I guess if you are out of power the 50t rear may come in handy but I already want to swap it, and possibly a larger front ring too. Interested to hear others thoughts on this??? I will get some pics up eventually but still excited as have just ordered a Specialized Turbo Vado SL4.0 from Evans. This for a commuter bike. Should be at the store for me by next week. I wasn't trusting delivery company delivering it to my address after what I went through with Tredz and TNT......
  12. Lots of geese at the top of Shinewater lake this afternoon: And I got out to one of my favourite places - looking across to Herstmonceux Observatory in the distance: This is from New Bridge Road, near Rickney. Lovely road to cycle across the Pevensey marshes, just need to be conscious as to how close the waterways are to the tarmac. I've come a cropper before moving off onto a verge to let a car past, only to find it wasn't a verge, just nicely trimmed bullrushes, in water 🙄 Gaz

I have no idea on vessel transit time, but I keep my fingers crossed you get it this month after a year long wait 😉

  19. Yes, wet clutch DSG have service schedule But is irrelevant to this Fabia thread, as all Fabia are fitted with dry clutch DSG

Would they fit an octavia 3 !? hopeful
  21. I'm not certain that this is a safe conclusion. There's a key turned signal that goes via WM and that wire, but there's also another microswitch or two in the lock module whose status is directly monitored by CCU with a wire that doesn't go via WM. The latter may be getting through OK, but the former not reliably. I'd be having a look in the bellows if it were mine.
  22. I finally found an answer, this is the facelift model, the top left screw needs to be removed, the top right screw needs to be loosened by a few turns (not removed) , with the key in the lock and turned 90 degrees and the door handle partially open, the barrel should then come out. I will have to wait until my daughter returns from uni with the car to try it. hopefully the pin coming out of the barrel needs replace, otherwise the full door lock needs to be removed.

OTOH indirect TPMS (which is what you have) works on tyre pressure differentials between the tyres. If you drop (or raise) all 4 tyres by the same pressure it won't know.

Got them fitted yesterday, lovely! many thanks.
  25. Hi it’s a Mk4 Monte Carlo Dsg, I had a Fabria scout Dsg diesel 184 before, that was a very nice car and surprisingly quick. The gear change is far better on the Fabria and pulling away from standstill is easier the Octavia could be tricky at times often resulting in kangarooing !! I drove my wife’s Kodiaq 2.0 diesel Dsg that had the 7 speed box and that was a nicer drive than my Octavia which had the 6 speed wet clutch box. I did quite a bit of research a few years ago before purchasing two Dsg vehicles, Octavia and Kodiaq and came to the conclusion that the sealed for life approach adopted at that time in the uk possibility responsible for many of the failures. Wet clutches produce debris as they wear, not replacing the filters or oil was ill advised. I believe this approach was not universally adopted and many countries serviced the gearboxes.
  26. I’m in exactly the same boat, the dealer did say allow 2 weeks for the car to be completed.
  27. Lovely. http://skoda-storyboard.com/en/skoda-world/skoda-and-volkswagen-three-decades-of-partnership
  28. This is true but Skoda really changed from 2000 onwards when vw took full ownership. Their direction and trajectory since then has been moving from budget brand towards something much more equivalent to VW themselves..accidentally somehow vw have allowed them to become more premium (but at same cost) which seems odd.

good news for you,can i ask you say you have the reg number/i thought you only could get that when the car is at the dealers.the reason i ask for my car left the factory and is on it way to the uk and i dont have the reg number yet.
  30. Have you tried this today, i.e. very recently? The status of the key position microswitches in the lock go via the WM. As you're just down the road, maybe pop up one evening with door card off to try a known good WM and see if that helps the situation?
  31. Tyres are way more complicated than people think. I used to buy tyres based on whether I liked the look of the trad patter and the rubber used. 😄 I have since realised I honestly haven't a clue how to choose between tyres if simply looking at them, and I rely entirely on reviews and my own previous experience. I would say that cheap tyres are a false economy, they usually have a fatal flaw: Rapid wear or lousy performance in the wet/cold being the two main issues. Noise can be another. Buy good tyres and check the date of manufacture. (In my post above it's week 37 of 2018.)
  32. Have you thought about tyre pressure? The info on tyre pressures inside the fuel filler flap says that the tyres on my Kamiq should be 2.5 bar which equates to 36psi (unladen) and which you say you are running at. However, I’ve looked at a number of tyre websites and for my specific vehicle every single one says 30psi which is a significant difference.
  33. Well you didn't for a start because unlike just about everyone else on here, you don't own a Skoda - or any VW group car for that matter. But what interests me is, why would you want to know that? What's the significance of people on BriskSkoda replying? Whatever your reason, the same question could be asked of any owners forum of any make - how many of them replied? It's all six and half a dozen.

Lucky it was the first lap and the car only cleared the tyre barrier. At full speed that could clearly have got through the debris fence into the crowd.
  35. ETA 2: Sorry mrspatch I should have pasted this in first post. - "Engine number The engine number (three-digit code letter and serial number) is stamped onto the engine block."
  36. I can not help you with a mk3 Fabia but a Master Tech at a dealership should. With Mk2 Fabia 1.4 TSI Twinchargers Skoda were very lax and in some cases lying to owners. Engines were replaced, like for like, owners were told no need to inform the DVLA, some were told the engines had been stamped, some it was just the barcode. It was a farce and still is as some replacement engines have been replaced and some cars might now have engines robbed from other cars. Not fun if the Police or the DVSA are ever checking engine numbers. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/324108-replacement-engines-engine-numbers-v5-dvla-skoda-uk-what-happened http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/264592-new-14-tsi-engine-fittedbut http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/271147-have-i-been-fooled
  37. It is amazing how many do not have a car serviced and running as well as they can before a remap. Amazing how many do a remap and do not look at the plugs or air filter but then they might not be a mechanic or even a fitter. Even worse is those that know the car is not running right and take it to get a remap.
  38. The oil could be coming from elsewhere and that is just where you see it. You could thoroughly clean around the area and then see if a fresh trail emerges or add dye to your oil and see that and perhaps other weeps and leaks. On my engine it would probably be from the rocker cover gasket, only once did that not leak and I don't know how or why that was. Others will have more and better suggestions than me.

What do you think the chances of getting something free from skoda because of the delays? They should at least be enabling all the things you can buy from the skoda store as compensation. I.e. more colours on the led lights, rear light high functionality and cornering fog lights 😅 maybe I should email skoda and suggest
  40. Replacing the window actuator assembly indeed solved the issue.
  41. Thank you Mike. All of the late '05 onwards MK1 I've seen have the PD engine but you are probably right. I see 'POLAND' cast on the block so its likely they sent the tooling for the older external pump engines eastward about 2004. Whats interesting to me is as time and technology progressed the continued 1U2 Octavia became a late 1990s bubble as everything else got a lot more complex. As I said this Octavia was re-sprayed at some point. Irregular welding on the n/s inner guard and the wee bracket that locates the wing front is galvanised and un-sprayed, suggests it was hit on the n/s corner. Chassis legs are fine and the car is not 'crabbing' in any way. Pot luck, its a shiny old bus. Wasnt that much elbow grease required, just Turtle Wax Radiant Red. I reckon the deformed n/s hub (bearing carrier/knuckle) was something overlooked when it was repaired. Nothing wrong with the AXR PD engines, just they tend to need a DMF and can be a bit on the thirsty side. Here was a bit of lunacy, thats the last time I replace a clutch (plate) on the beaten earth! Oh that was a whole load of fun on a day without work.
  42. That sounds really very unlikely. The PAS system is pretty self-contained. Angle rate sensor plugs straight into PAS module; permanent power wiring; an ignition-on wire and a pair of CAN data lines is the totality of the system electrically.
  43. @Mark2LTDI? Is the car at an Automatic Gearbox Specialist that has all the gear and more than ideas? First and important is it a Wet Clutch 7 speed DSG or a DQ200 7 speed twin dry clutch dsg? A DQ250 DSG is not a 7 speed Dry Clutch DSG. *6 & 7 Speed Wet Clutch DSG's have one oil and it is in the box and the MCU.* What car / engine does your wife have? What age is it and how many miles has it done? http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/502781-gearbox-in-emergency-mode-no-reverse-gear So does your wife have with a DQ200 DSG 7 Speed Twin Dry Clutch DSG? These DQ200 DSG's have 2 oils in them in the Box and in the MCU. If it is from 2009-2012 was it part of Service Campaign '34F7' done since 2014 and did it get the oil change and Software update, or if a 2013-2015 service campaign '34H5' started in 2017 and a software update. Done because of possible heat and pressure issues and leaks / failures. http://skoda-auto.com/services/recall-actions '34H5' if outstanding does not always show here.
  44. Added to that a lot of people don't buy new or buy pre-registered or in stock cars meaning they cannot specify tow bar prep.
  45. When my son had his Karoq, he used my old Yeti 16” winter wheels instead of his standard 19” wheels during the winter months.
  46. 5 year old and FMDSH does not mean serviced to manufacturer's recommendations even with a Skoda Approved Used car Warranty. That would show brake fluid change at 3 years and 5. Pollen filter twice etc etc. Cars with Haldex and wet clutch DSG, even get sold as Skoda Approved Used card at over 3 years old or over 40,000 miles,. That is no guarantee the Haldex was serviced at 30,000 miles or this DSG at 40,000 or brake fluid changed.
