  1. Another thing to add, are you sure you were checking the correct pump, as there are 2. I notice you also said no headlamp washers too, I’d be going right back to basics and checking the fuses first, I am guessing one has popped. other thing you can do to eliminate the wiring completely is find the plug at the pump and find the wire that is open circuit, the other should be short to ground. (Possibly both are open circuit) when pulling the wiper stalk the short to ground should move to the other terminal and the open circuit to the other. So swapping places. when pushing the stalk the opposite should happen. this will eliminate your ground and your wiring and just leave you with a power fault
  2. Hello everyone! Some of you may remember me from a good few years in the Octy forums. I had a Petrol vRS Mk2 Estate from new 2010 to 2017 (80k miles), then a Mk3 of the same for two years. Loved them. I then moved to a Kia Stinger GTS 3.3 in summer 2019. Amazing car in many ways, but not perfect. Long PH thread here: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=47&t=1829074 This was replaced in September 2021 with a 2018 BMW 530e. Reasons explained in the above thread, but TLDR, I needed something less thirsty (27mpg) without a rattling sunroof, other niggles and a poor local dealer……. I have absolutely loved the 530e. The quality is amazing and I average (electric and ICE) about 63mpg. But, it is almost too competent and just a little dull. I find myself taking Mrs Dunc’s 1.4 TSI 150 DSG Golf out for some fun sometimes! And a bigger but, we have just picked up a black working cocker spaniel puppy and I need a hatch or estate ASAP. So, as per the title, I paid a deposit today on a 2018 (68) Superb 272 L&K. Every toy / option except sunroof (I think). Really excited. I feel like I should have bought one of these earlier……we’ll see! Looking forward to being back on here and contributing. You guys are comfortably the best forum crowd I have come across! Lots more to come. Need to sell the BMW before I collect the Superb. Cheers.
  3. Cue X-Files theme tune, something strange going on here.
  4. You may wish to check T6p to see if signals are reaching this location, if not then we can track back futher. J519 LHD - T46b (Connector C) You can check here if you need to see if this is outputting power. If not, then we need to look for signal from stalk to next location.
  5. Just taken one using my phone on the drive at home so far, will try to head up to the Westbury White Horse later today and take some hi-res photos. Loving how it drives, the 7 speed DSG is a much more relaxing drive than the 6 speed manual and the extra oomph of the 1.8 over the 1.4 is very noticeable, the combination of DSG & 1.8 gives some insanely high instatntaeous mpg figures (over 250mpg already seen!).
  6. those 95 aeros were such an underrated, natural sleeper, hot saloon. i could never justify the running costs, otherwise id probably have one. and now with the age and difficulty to get spares... 😞 i wish they hadnt gone to the wall.

  11. Lucky enough to spot a Kingfisher at close quarters today. First time I've seen one up close, just a shame I only had my compact camera with me
  12. I know they r different. I was just trying to highlight that Passat B8 and Superb 3 basically have the same springs.
  13. my bad, your terminology of "sub module" is you meaning "part off"......... I for one would like to know the "fix" for this..........looking at workshop manual, when a 2009 cars details are entered, the navigation system seems to be pinned the same as the base radios, so unsure where the diffrence actually is.
  14. Isn't that exactly what I said? Or is this a Greenline?
  15. Perfectly fine to do, theres a fairly heavy spring that pulls them shut so activate them and grab - try to grab the shaft, not the painted cap the caps can easily snap
  16. You are correct SC42 is for the BCM but it will run lots of things, included in that list is the washers. Youre right though, id expect more signs than just washers inop, and on top of that, fuses arent a common thing to just 'blow' randomly. Fairly straight forward system in terms of components: Washer Stalk BCM Fuse Pump Wiring Connectors Id also want to know what terminal he is measuring the voltage at when pulling the stalk - make sure you check BOTH terminals for voltage as the pump can run in 2 directions.
  17. CAN gateway will be a sub-module of the vehicle voltage control unit above accelerator pedal on that age of Fabia, I think, same as on mk1.
  18. Then I would use the term "specialist" loosley. Your car was bricked probably as the immobiliser / odometer is stored in the body module and speedo head and they have to match, when they don't "match" the car won't initialize. The "brain" of the car is in 1, or several control units depending on age of vehicle...........as an example, on my 2013 vehicle, the CAN gateway, central convenience and voltage control all come in 1 control unit the BCM, thats the daddy of the electrical system. All this back and forth does not fix the issue, to get that RNS315 to work correctly, it has to talk via the CAN to the car............simple, no other way around it. So you have to update that part of your vehicle, as explained earlier depending on the spec depends on what you need to change.
  19. Wow, on the Kingfisher! 😎 I heard a grasshopper chirping, real close while we were at Bedgebury Pinetum today. I mean really close, like it was right next to me, and it was just as clear when I was 20' further on: He was on my shoulder, but hopped on to my elbow as I went to take a photo. Family in background (mine, not his). Gaz
  20. Many thanks Varoom. I have just messaged a possible helper about 15 miles from me in Surrey. Fingers crossed.
  21. Weirdly ive been having the same issue but with asdatyres today, its a very odd one, for some reason its saying card isnt registered at this address when it always has been.

My wife came home from doing the shopping and stated the "boot won't open". Having looked on this forum for possible clues: fuses, loose wiring, actuator issues ; I did the following: checked the fuses - didn't really need to as the central locking worked, it was just the boot but I thought I should check just in case. Take the actuator off the boot and try with a separate 12V supply - that was working. Reassemble. Stick a screwdriver shaft in the boot lock mechanism when the boot is open so the car thinks the boot is closed. You can then test the boot open mechanism. The actuator moved "a bit" but not enough to open the the boot. Weird. Take the actuator off the boot again and notice that the swing arm the mechanism moves moved freely push from the non-actuator side but was rather stiff from where the actuator would push. Apply WD40 to the actuator and plenty of grease to the arm pivot. Success! It seems that over time the swing arm pivot had worn, enough that the actuator didn't have enough force to push the arm. Rather please it cost me nothing but time and some grease.
  23. I noticed the same thing on mine the other day, I’m sure it opened all 4 earlier in the year but now it only does the fronts. I assumed there was some setting that I had wrong but maybe not if you’ve already tried stuff. Maybe a software issue….?
  24. Lowering springs - E10-85-042-02-22 Car dropped 20mm. I have factory DCC shocks.
  25. hehe yeah, i didnt even notice that from the picture. I should be geting it next week wednesday earliest. Dealer is coming from holidays so he can't deliver it right a way. I must say, i feel like 5 yo just before christmas. I reaaaally want it already! Then i can play with it for few days and forget it like all the other toys we kids have 😛

Will change a lot with this month \o/ I was also asked to leave out Canton. Dealer didnt know how much it would effect, so i told him i want them. We'll see if i really have them when i get the car on wednesday!
  27. Hello Varooom, ITS WORKS!! No error, no trouble, 20 min, everything OK! Tx tx tx!👌👍 Greetings from Germany!

At the age of your Fabia, with an electric car you may need a 1st or 2nd replacement battery pack requiring a 2nd mortgage to pay for it, while it would still have the same brake, suspension, tyres and all the other consumables of any motor car. How that compares to yearly routine servicing, I would like to see the numbers. When something does go wrong on the milk floats electrical side - why should they be any more reliable or un-reliable that modern ICE car electrics - you are going to get you hat nailed on trying to find someone trained and with the equipment to analyse/repair or even swap parts out that will not have the same availability on Ebay or similar. You say you haven't yet put a £50 battery on the Fabia, but my understanding is the electric cars also have a "normal" battery for the ancillaries that will require replacement. Electric cars are not old enough yet to gauge reliability or real running costs for most of us - if you are posting in this Mk1 forum your car is at least 15 years old which is twice the battery pack guarantee (8 years ish) that I keep hearing.
  29. Hi Jo, welcome to the forum. First thing to do anytime you get multiple fault indications like this is to give the battery a thorough condition check and recharge. How old is the battery?
  30. The rubber seal around the filler neck isn’t air tight, it’s just an aesthetics thing as the entire filler neck is exposed under the car, wheel arch and such. the only thing it might be, if the rubber was getting pinched on the end of the filler neck preventing the cap from sealing properly
  31. 5Q0411105CH front springs from the Passat B8 would lower the front of the Superb MK3 by about 11mm according to the specifications of the Eibach and Sachs springs, and about 16mm according the specifications of the KYB springs. However, the KYB springs wouldn't necessarily lower the front ride height more than other springs that are sold to replace this OEM part number because there are often mistakes in the specifications given by aftermarket spring manufacturers. Fitting Passat B8 springs and shock absorbers to a Superb MK3 won't necessarily make a Superb MK3 ride and handle like a Passat B8 because the Passat B8 also uses different anti-roll bars. The Kilen/Lesjofors spring catalogue only gives OEM part numbers for the Superb MK3 2.0TDI 4x4 150PS/190PS/200PS with standard ride height. The Sportline uses lowered/sports springs. Skoda Superb MK3 2.0TDI 4x4 Hatchback, standard ride height, 110kW/150PS, 140kW/190PS, 147kW/200PS 5Q0411105GN front springs 3Q0511115AL rear springs (weight range 4) Skoda Superb MK3 2.0TDI 4x4 Estate, standard ride height, 110kW/150PS, 140kW/190PS, 147kW/200PS 5Q0411105GN front springs 3Q0511115M rear springs (weight range 5) Notice that the hatchback and estate uses the same front springs, and the estate uses rear springs just one weight range higher than the hatchback rear springs.
  32. Sorted. Kindly me in a month though. 👍
  33. Not the world's greatest piccy but all I have to hand:
  34. 2.0 TDI with DSG here until next month (it's currently up for sale in classified subforum). 50-"70" mph most of my time with it. At 70 and a bit higher at "70" it doesn't have any problem or feels lacking power. It can comfortably cruise at 70mph. Although the car feels less confident at "70" than my previous 2006 Mercedes C220 coupe. Fuel economy also falls off from 70 and upwards.
  35. I’ve been driving a 2.0 TDI for about 9 months, similar commute too. On average 64mpg over the last 3k miles. Previously had a DSG (same size engine) which was 58-59 on average the lower tax on cars up to 2017ish is worth another 7-800 miles or so based on current prices so worth considering too

Fair to say I’ve been watching this topic a lot over the last 14 months. I’ve had a company car order in since May 2021 for a vrs iv estate. It’s optioned with pano roof, canton and dcc. There’s been a few setbacks along the way, which I’m sure would be familiar to many of you, but the vague updates from the lease company changed a week or two ago to “released from the factory” and added “delay in transit to uk”. I’m trying not to get my hopes up, but current estimate is for mid Aug. I expect it will probably be September now, as they commonly like to delay it when there is an imminent number plate change, as i imagine it increases the cars value a little at resale. i just hope it was built late enough to have the newer infotainment modules etc….
  39. hold the power button till the entire system reboots and you see the skoda logo again
  40. little bosturds. a kindly mod might pin this one for a week or 2, to help awareness? @cheezemonkhai for example?

Well at least you can put to bed the notion you don't have a NOx sensor, as your car does (after turbo) Part number has been replaced, (not that I am saying to fit anything at this stage at all) So ideally you need to locate someone with scanner so you can read in some measurements now and begin the diagnosis process.
  42. Are you considering a manual or DSG? Dependent on what age car you're looking at, the 2.0 may have the six speed DQ250, whereas the 1.6 may have the seven speed DQ200. The DQ250 is generally considered to be the more robust and reliable of the two units. Irrelevent if you're going for a manual of course. Gaz
  43. Having had both I would opt for a 2.0 rather than a 1.6 , the extra grunt from the 2.0 is very nice to have in everyday driving , makes for far more relaxing driving . The extra grunt ( approx ) 40 horses means that keeping up with other traffic is a doddle unlike the 1.6 . The extra grunt when I want to boot it is even better, the bonus ( for me ) is the fact the 2.0 is better on fuel than the 1.6. I found that with a mix of driving the 2.0 was on average anywhere between 2 & 5 mpg better than the 2.0 .
  44. I've no reason to think this one was anything other than standard, but it went well Of their time they were often lauded to have a better mid-range than a Porsche 911. A friend has a 911, and there was definitely something to the accolade. Very addictive, but with a thirst to match - mine averaged 21mpg, not that I bought it for economy 😇 Gaz
  45. After much ado, here's one of my 2001 Saab 9-5 HOT Aero in Cosmic Blue: If I can find a clearer image, I'll update it. I was so stupid, stupid, STUPID to let the insurance company write it off 😡 Awesome car, didn't own it for anywhere near long enough 🥲 Gaz
  46. DCC is a great option IMO.
  47. I ordered a 245 in 2019 and went full old man kit, 18s and DCC. A pretty good ride in Comfort.
  48. Try cardboard boxes. At least if you're going to hit one, it'll collapse.
