Guys, after less than 15 months of patiently waiting for my car, D-day has arrived today.🏆 It is a bitter-sweet moment, though, on one side and at the same time, a birthday present to me (BD tomorrow) 😀. It was worth waiting for it. At the beginning of this week, the dealer called me with surprising info that I could pick up the car this week. I didn't even get the VIN. It was more than a year since I placed the order with no information; in August, the info foresaw the build date in September and an estimated delivery date in the 41st week of 2022. But it arrived a bit early, just for my BD 😀. I hope and wish you to get some positive information and surprises with your orders, as I did.
  2. Jeez TM, I think you can knock apologising straight on the head! After the rollercoaster you've experienced, I think anything is completely understandable, PTSD and anxiety included. I see the same positives than yon Pete sees, steps are good 👍 I'm two years past my hip surgery, but I know the pre surgery warnings about dislocation risks are holding me back, even if they're now unrealistic. And I still stumble with the mindset of being reluctant to walk any distance, based on pre-surgery concerns about pain, even though the hip joint's titanium and ain't gonna hurt. I berate myself for my irrational behaviour. My circumstances pale into insignificance compared to yours, so I think you can afford to cut yourself some slack and allow the rollercoaster to find its way to happier undulations. All good wishes for your ongoing recovery 👍 This sounds like it could be fun. It's a bit of a trek, but I could be up for it, according to what kinda ammo we're allowed to play with, and whether you're allowed to retaliate. Was the offer only open to TM? 😁 Gaz
  3. I see a positive in you being able to tell yourself and us what is really going on. I think taking steps is better than not taking steps, whatever direction they seem to be going at the time. Feel free to pop round and shoot me for exceeding decent limits of psychobabble.🙂
  4. Yeah, being honest about how you're feeling is admirable. I struggle with mental health stuff as well, so I can empathise to an extent. Keep plodding on mate
  5. You might not be where you want to be right now, but you'll get there. If that helps somewhat. Keep going man, you've got this

Someone needs to take a legal 'baseball bat' to this whole "never seen this before" horse****. So utterly disgraceful it needs punishing.
  7. Hi, just a sidenote on this topic. I recently ordered a brand new (2022) SE L 2.0L 150 DSG. It was a stock car so very quick delivery of 3 days. I then read about some people finding out that the VIN plate was rated "0" kg for towing on cars that didn't have the Tow Prep option ticked. I immediately questioned Skoda UK and the sales guy, Neither of whom had a clue what I was talking about. Luckily the dealership sales manager is a caravanner and totally got me. There was a day of panic, as it was obvious that neither of them had come across this issue before. Luckily, the sales manager knew which questions to ask and he was able to confirm that my car was suitable for towing. The VIN plate clearly shows the maximum train weight as being iro 4300kgs. The towbar has now been fitted, the tow prep being essentially a cable from the front to a plug and play terminal at the rear. The fitter installed the aftermarket version, and all is working perfectly.
  8. This "replace key fob battery" message was driving me nuts, having done so twice but intermittent messages persisted. Then it dawned on my that it only occurred when my wife was in the car - with our spare fob in her bag. D'oh.

Do you want to put some factual numbers behind this statement and what you consider "acceptable" and "relatively". Another that may be relevant is battery voltage before turning ignition on, and one after ignition has been on and heater plugs have operated which will show voltage drop under high load without alternator trying to compensate.
  10. Don't fit console bushes in place of your badges, it will look ugly

Off to Aw tuning for some powerflex bushes. Top job it’s transformed the wayward handling !
  12. Hello, This is Hetty 1updating my fellow Briskodians. I told the service department about it and they said they were unaware of the problem and the car needed to come into the workshop to be investigated under warranty. So an appointment was made and I got a courtesy car for free; they normally charge to put you on the groups insurance. I got it back late this afternoon and they said the problem is sorted. They did an update apparently. I forgot to ask them for a copy of what was done so I cant tell you any more than that. I will try to get a copy though and I will happily share the contents. These might not mean much to the likes of me but I am sure it will to some readers of this post. Thanks.

Press the "vehicle status" on the home screen of the phone app, the one that shows the range. That shows the service then at the bottom of the screen. What's interesting is the app shows 2 year 30K km interval while the dealer is going for half that. I'll be going for the shorter interval as anything over a year isn't right in my eyes.
  14. 37.5k and huge lip on disc's, squealing. Got advisory on mot few months ago and checked myself and thought I might get away with pads. But last few weeks big difference in stopping ability so just going with both.
  15. I mean that’s very over simplified. Upgrading the brakes making them larger/vented/grooved basically whatever you do to increase the surface area doesn’t always mean you will stop any quicker than before. You can happily lock the wheels up even with the cheapest pads and discs on the market and this is why good tyres matter no matter what brakes. there is no difference in the lock up of big brakes vs small brakes, 0 wheel rotation is not what we are trying to achieve as then the tyres are doing the stopping of the vehicle, not the brakes. performance brakes are better for a few reasons, mainly heat dissipation, you won’t get anywhere near as much brake fade with better materials and a larger surface area. You then have gas build up, prolonged use of the brakes causes the friction material to break down and release gases so it reduces braking efficiency as pads aren’t making full contact. Brake upgrades 90% of the time come down to heat, just cause brakes are bigger doesn’t mean you’ll notice any difference under normal driving.
  16. Yup, my phone wireless charger still works. I use it with my Pixel 5 for road trips less than an hr long. Perfect combo with the AAWireless.
  17. Be aware some performance pads are pretty crap for everyday road use just getting about in town. Consider that you drive in the wet and cold sometimes or lots of the time. You want brakes that you can start a journey when cold and if a child runs out 100 meters after you are down the road you can stop as quick as possible. Nobody cares how good your brakes feel to you when driving in a spirited manner with heated tyres and brakes as long as you are not killing or maiming them when you fail to make a corner or stop. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/425257-another-reason-to-avoid-ebc-pads http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/483106-anyone-has-recent-experience-of-ebc-discpads http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/261036-green-red-or-yellow-stuff http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/491867-product-review-bluestuffyellowstuff-pads-gd-tested-on-skoda-octavia-vrs http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/301968-feredo-ds250s-performance-pads-my-arse
  18. Don’t forget if you upgrade the brakes, you will only get the benefit if you fit appropriate seasonal tyres. If tyre’s don’t grip at relevant air temperature then having best brakes in the world isn’t going to make any difference
  19. How are you getting on mate?
  20. I would not expect any overheating in the circumstances you describe whatever direction the wind was in, not even in the height of summer, I think you have a problem somewhere, possibly the cooling fans not working but at motorway speeds they should not be needed, more likely a sticking water pump impellor shroud. This is what i just wrote on your other thread: I have towed large frontage storage trailers loaded with probably double that for 500 mile trips and the temperature guage has never risen, oil temperature has reached 115°c perhaps more a few times though. I should add that many of these journeys were at the height of this summer where we had temperatures over 40°c and my fuel economy was down to 24mpg to give you some idea of the load on the engine and the ambient temperature, the guage never rose from the 90°c mark, my vehicle does not have towing preparation and has also been remapped from a standard 108hp to an alleged 184hp without any cooling system mods, I just have a £100 Ebay towbar and current sensing relay both fitted by myself.
  21. Very sad and for the following rider who was involved, we have lost so many riders this way and airbag racing suits etc do not help in this type of crash. 10 years since Marco Simoncelli and there have been quite a few. Not sure the answer but perhaps a more staggered grid as this occurrence seem to happen on lap one when jockeying is most intense. Even a limit on horsepower in these end of season races when temperature and grip are lower. The worse of accident types IMO. Thanks for his and his fellow riders massive bravery and talent and may his family find peace in his personal choice to go racing.

Unlike me, who was all around and telling the world as soon as I got some bits of info 😎😊. This evening I spent about 30 mins studying the infotainment, still a work in progress 😁. Had to skip my usual ride to work though due to kiddos being sick. But we have enough time, as long as she’s parked at our home 😍.

Omg, that’s really a surprise for us too as you didn’t give us any hints on the forum 😉I’m glad it’s finally here, enjoy it, many safe kms and happy birthday tomorrow 🥳 Now we just need some good news from our gladiator 😁

I've booked a Tv for Sunday coming...
  25. Welcome. Sorry i can not help you with that gallery unit. But on ebay there are similar, Campervan pod for campervan, Vangear Mini-pod etc. £525. http://vangear.co.uk
  26. I used to have a Mk3 Fabia. Previous to that I had 3 MK2s. The rear seats in the MK2s did have a base that lifted and folded forwards so that the seat back could fold down fully. Sadly this was dropped when the MK3 hatchback was introduced but was kept in the MK3 estates. Quite why I don't know as I always found this a useful feature.
  27. I'll be honest I hadn't read your reply, I just said what needed connecting. You are correct, the pedal connection is merely borrowing the ignition live. Can just as easily come from the fuse box, from pin 2 of the headlight switch, or from the relay board. Whatever is easiest for the installer.
  28. On the Kufatec harness the 10 pin connector goes to the switch, the 6 pin connector goes to XS3 on the central electrics control unit, the female terminal goes to the fuse box (ignition supply), and the male terminal is the connection to the ECU, that goes up to the bulkhead connection point.

I bought a cheap complete unit on eBay and its been fine.

Whichever type you buy, check whether or not the gaskets that seal it against the engine block are included. Would be annoying to assume they are, and then have to shop again if they aren't.
  31. Folks I managed to resolve the issue. I guess I was spraying the WD40 silicon spray on the wrong bush earlier. Did it this weekend on a different spot and now I do not get a single sound from the suspension. Darn I have no idea why I didn’t do this before!! I’ll try and click a picture of the exact bush if I can with my phone to post here.
  32. I think this needs a new project thread!😂

Welcome, it looks good. Hope you can sort your eardrum issue out.
  34. Thanks @varooom really happy with it
  35. @SurreyJohn It seems I managed to interpret the <2,000rpm wrong (I read that as greater than, so apologies) The cleaning product that got me past the "wall" of the DPF regen not getting below 15g of soot is called JLM DPF cleaner, I am sure some will say snake oil, but after this I could regen the car to under 1g of soot. VCDS is a software platform and a hardware cable to scan and perform coding changes on your car, if you was to buy, then you need HEX-V2 as your car is after 2015 to read all modules https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/262215-list-of-vcds-owners-previously-known-as-vag-com-vcp-owners/
  36. My single experience of clutches and remap was on a mk6 GTi. I bought it at 82k, stage 1 remap had been done at 70k, stock clutch lasted until 93k until the slave shat itself. Had the clutch changed for an OEM item as the clutch was worn enough, changed by the garage and also gutted the clutch Bleeder block by removing the little orange disc that restricted the oil, thinking this was a factor for the slave failure. All was well for the first 5k. After that I would get clutch slip when clutch was engaged and on the move (not pulling away) when I tried to accelerate in 3rd upwards. This wasn't me mashing the pedal either, it was feeding in the power. I'm no racing driver, I'm a professional driver and can't afford to drive like a tit most places so most was standard driving, overtakes and B road blasts. The car was sold when I went to my Octavia fully stating to the buyer I thought it needed an uprated clutch pack to get the best out of the map. I suspect in truth that the garage put a cheaper clutch in, however this has never been identified. Likewise, the map and dyno printout seemed strong so maybe it was an aggressive map. Lastly, I would imagine the gearbox is the same between the mk6 GTi and Octavia as the engine was a gen1 EA888. All clutches have torque limits, worth checking that torque is limited in the right circumstances to stop slip on the map (APR, Revo, etc will definitely have this in place)
  37. There are options in some of the other models (new brochures dated 4th October 2022) are online for all the current models. I did wonder if it is to do with extra weight, as iV models are heavier, by about 100-150kg, however the tyres weight rating is 91. But then I noticed in the technical specs at the end of the brochures that iV models get different tyres. For Octavia, SE spec get 205/60 R16 92V, SEL (except iV) get 205/55 R17 91V low rolling resistance SEL (iV) get 205/55 R17 91V vRS (except diesel) get 225/40 R19 93Y sporty vRS (diesel versions) get 225/40 R19 93Y xl I am guessing the low rolling resistance or sporty tyres are what they have done their emissions cert on, and they do not want to test with different grade of tyre for iV versions. The iV models have their WLTP results in different column in those technical pages as they use different test method. Perhaps doing tests for hybrids is lot of extra faff.
  38. Not necessarily. I’m on the hunt for full spec front seats where the airbags have gone off so nice and cheap. im after full electric front seats with ventilation, heating and massage. plan is to strip the full spec seats and rebuild on mine to have the first full spec sportline seats (sportline can’t have ventilation) so will be custom.
  39. Standard discs will be vented, even the rears on a 280 are vented as standard. im assuming by vented you mean either grooved, drilled or maybe something else?
  40. Have you tried moving the seat significantly further forward or back and then seeing if it will lower more after that ? It has sometimes seemed to me that the overall seat base position makes a difference to what height adjustment it will allow. If it does then lower further then you can re-adjust the forward/back distance after.
  41. +1. Before approaching the service desk with your grumpy face on, first make sure it's not a common problem. If both cars drive differently, then you can ask the service desk why so.

Ended up getting Yokohama Geolanders for the Jimny, chonkiest tyres I could get quickly. I have to say I am surprisngly entertained by the Jimny. It should be awful really, it's a bouncy, noisy lack pretty much all extras. The gearbox whines, the radio is terrible etc etc. I think it's so diferent it makes it quite fun. It actually got a few complements from the gamekeepers. It would be truely painful to drive any great distance in (on the ears mostly the seats are quite comfortable) but for short hops I quite like it.
  43. Does your ABS not kick in anyway under hard braking and still you might have your tyres sliding along the road? Whatever discs you go for, fit better brake hoses, better brake pads & very obviously better tyres if not already fitted. So better driving considering that you have a bit of a fat lump and not that much engine braking with a DQ200 DSG but you can knock off speed with manual shifts and foot off the accelerator. That is maybe teaching granny to suck eggs, sorry for that.
  44. Took the car in for service yesterday and had a chat with the service manager who checked the Skoda specs. It seems the spec that cannot use a tow bar is the SEL model while mine is the SE so I am good to go with a tow bar. However, unfortunately I sold the boat that I wanted to tow. AAAAArrrrrggghhhhhhh 😡 I may look for a tow bar later in the year or early next year

  46. The difference between Comfort and Sport has been reduced for about 30% as result, Normal became to useless option, because difference between Normal vs Sport and Normal vs Comfort is almost unnoticeable Comfort, which were annoying waterbed, now feels like previous Normal Sport became as Sport with little plus by my subjective opinion, the most, 65% of performance improvement, came from stiffer Eibach Pro springs

Previously I had a 1.4TSI 6 speed manual, I wanted a DSG but my ex has 'a thing' about all auto/DSG/MMT, I am so glad I've now got a 1.8TSI 7 speed DSG as it makes it a much more pleasant drive. Don't get me wrong I like performance manual cars (my previous was an Audi RS4 with a 6 speed manual but the 4.2L engine was so flexible it could go from 20mph to 155+mph in 6th gear!). But the Octavia, even the vRS, isn't IMHO a performance car (vRS owners getting ready to argue with me...) and the DSG suits it really well. I mainly drive with the DSG in E mode but with kickdown or tapping the gear lever into S mode (I NEED paddles!) it makes me smile as it leave a big gap to the car behind. BTW I've added the underbonnet sound dampening pad so that's the only time I hear the engine. DSG or manual Octavia? Having driven both for me its DSG every single time.
  48. @mustafa688 Welcome. Hopefully someone can help. ? Different matter, but have you had the cambelt and tensioner replaced yet?
  49. And to update, yes it did work.
