Audio upgrade time. Got myself a JVC mechless BT head unit. I have to say the sound is great even through standard speakers. Simple to fit as it’s a lot shallower so no cutting out behind. And the JVC app for phones makes it a doddle to set up
  9. As far as I can see, the socket has always been permanently live, unless someone has modified it since leaving factory.

My brother in law drove through water across a road known well to him. What he didn't know was erosion had dropped the road surface a few feet.

  18. Hi all, as you are probably aware I am new to the forum & I am really pleased with the Roomster. A few days ago I was driving as normal when the engine cut out, pulled over tried to restart no luck, left it a few minutes tried again & she started 🙂 and then cut out again ☹️. Left it another few minutes tried again, she started & we got home. Following day started up, drove a while, cut out again. Called out the AA, fault code P214700 Power supply Injector Sort to ground. Contacted seller, he came over trailered away. Turns out, the electrical connection to each injector has, 2 pins (male/female type) the female hole enlarges over time (a common fault with this engine 1.6 diesel) the car electrician just closes it up again. Cars driving great again now. I noticed the Roomster has had 3 new fuel injectors fitted & think this was to fix this simple fault, must have cost a fortune for the previous owner. Hope this helps anyone with this problem 👍🙂
  19. Subjective. I keep both the steering wheel and seats at the lowest power, all the rest is too hot for me.
  20. I have the same setup too, with no issues either. But I have only 10mm spacers at the rear because I have 245/40 tyres. The rear was fine with 235/40 tyres and 15mm spacers, but with 245 tyres, it scrubbed on compression. Hence I reduced the spacers to 10mm at the rear. No issues now. @Frankenfurter unlike us, is running 20" wheels that r 8.5" wide, wearing 245/35 tyres. Hence his question if it will scrub on compression after he lowers it on the Eibach Pro-kit springs. I think some negative camber on the rear will solve his problem. fronts will b fine.
  21. Spark plug socket will also be different from the Type 2 as well.
  22. Hello pikpilot, Apologies for the time lapse, but have now had a really good look at the board under an illuminated type magnifier, and can find no signs of corrosion of the soldered joints, contact pins or electrical overload and breakdown. The board on the face of it looks good as new. However, there are a number of integrated circuits on the board and I suppose that there could be an "internal open circuit" somewhere causing the problem. So , I'm thinking it's a replacement/new wiper unit. Many thanks for your contribution, best regards - Roy
  23. Knock yourself out, you'll need different tools so good luck with it.
  24. Many thanks brilliant the weather with us has been really bad last few days heavy rain and tday really strong winds along with the rain so have't had a spare half hour to drop a wheel off but no need now great info many thanks it's so good when people know what they know, standard dealer answer was "pop the car in and we'll have a look" you can see the pounds rolling around before they give you an answer, i can now look around for a wheel to use for a spare instead of buying a brand new one thanks again much appreciated
  25. can you wire the camera in to a switched supply? that's what i was thinking of doing.
  26. I would personally get basic service and health check. There is no harm in changing the Oil, Filters and plugs, it is relatively inexpensive. I'd then be looking to have the antifreeze and brake fluid tested to determine the health of those. It is always worth having safety critical items checked such as steering and suspension, just to be on the safe side.
  27. Behind it under the aluminum cover on that end of the engine. No need to think any more about it. Your odometer is saying 172131km covered. Engine should be OK for quite a few more. EGR valve may be close to end of life if factory original (quite likely not).
  28. my 2012 socket is permanently live. I just unplug the dash cam.
  29. OK, sorted. I set SWMBO on the case, she volunteered to phone up and play the helpless “I’ve got this message coming up and I don’t understand” role. Long and short, it’s normally ignored as it’s the same as an oil change/inspection without changing the oil. They’ll remove it when it goes in for MOT, BF & Haldex change. I had a look at what’s involved and most of it I can quite happily do, plus is unlikely to come up with something that will be a warranty claim. Curiously, re the Haldex oil being changed, that has a question mark on the booking. It didn’t come up on their service menu so think it may a sealed unit. They’ll have a look when it goes in. Booked in late Nov. 👍
  30. I've never tried the onboard nav but a firmware update might help. Add a picture of your SW train to this thread and I'm sure someone will provide an update if appliable:
  31. They are in the main OK. Far better on a 1.0 / 1.2 TSI than on some others. OK with 1.4 TSI Octavia. Not that reliable with a 1.6 TDI, IMO & IME. There was and is no fix. There was a World Wide Recall 2012 on DQ200's 2009-2012, this excluded Europe that got a Service Campaign in 2014. '34F7'. Change Synthetic oil to Mineral & a Software update. So 2013-2015 interests you. Service Campaign '34H5' a Software Update started 2017 on some cars, 2013-2015. this was a preventative campaign because of pressure / heat issues. Then 2015 on there were TPI's clutch upgrades and software updates for some. Then some with MCU issues from that time. From 2018/19 they are better, we will see how they are at 5 year old when they get to 5 years old.

Hello all I bought a 2017 Skoda Scout diesel 2 months ago, and what a great car it is. Just recently retired I wanted to go back to the mountains of Europe where I used to climb etc when I was young and immortal. Age has made me realise that 1) I'm not immortal, 2) I can't move like I used to and 3) there is a lot of ground to cover. We looked around at expedition trucks and these huge autocaravanas and decided they were too big, expensive and specialised so looked at 4x4 estates and decided the Scout was good. Trip to local dealer who had had their first Scout taken in part chop on their forecourt as yet unprepared. Checked colour was OK with the wife and a deal was struck. I don't know anything about specs but as far as I can see this is the standard UK diesel Scout with a big glass sunroof & Westphalia tow ball. Just got back from 6 weeks mostly in the north Spanish mountains going up some very steep and narrow tracks where its best properties were 1) the extra 3cm ride height 2) underbody protection 3) hill descent control 4) Haldex And in the continuous hot weather - the sunroof. 3.5k miles later and this quick purchase has proved to be excellent. Likely add a hard shell roof tent and bike carrier on the tow ball. I have a bunch of questions about the car which I'll post as separate threads. Thanks for reading so far.
  33. You will get many different opinions. Low mileage cars should have an annual inspection and oil change. High mileage cars are likely to do 15-20k in a year and long trips burn off contaminants in the oil. I used to do 15k a year and on long servicing it was done about every 14 months. I am now retired and do about 6k so am having an inspection and oil change annually. As an aside, I thought the Haldex service was at 30k not 3 years, but may be wrong?
  34. thanks Breezy_Pete and PetrolDave it went as it should
  35. I have a 206/280 4x4, with stock 19 inch Supernova wheels and tyres, and have fitted the Eibach Pro-Kit E10-79-012-04-22 and run 12mm spacers. I have not had any scrubbing at all, so no issues. However, one thing I will say is that I believe the drop on the front is a fraction too much with this kit and has given the vehicle a 'nose down' stance, which I don't care for overly from an aesthetic point of view. I stress there has been no mechanical or scrubbing issues with this ride height, it's just the overall stance of the vehicle. I think the rear spring height is just right and it would look better if the front matched it more to give the vehicle a more level stance. To that end I have been in touch with Eibach Australia recently and they are going to supply me with revised front springs that will effectively raise the front height by 13mm. So it will change the overall lowering on the front from around 30mm at the moment to around 17mm. I am hopeful this will resolve the issue. I don't have the part number yet of these new springs, but if people are interested I will post it when I receive the springs.
  36. I also had the same problem after a few years, just stale bacteria in the AC system. I run an AC deodoriser spray but as I didn’t replace the pollen filter at the same time the smell lingered. So I removed the pollen filter and used a Maguires product, installed a new pollen filter and the car smells super fresh again.
  37. Ant (the Gaffer) is VIP Autos, so I think they'll be moving to the new bigger premises in time.
  38. It might be that the car is not going to sleep now, where it was before. So the ignition off is no longer shutting down the socket and other things. I don't recall it being a coding thing, but can check tomorrow as I have VCDS.
  39. Please note - I am not a mechanic or expert in anything. The engine is one of the less important system/components of the car, you want to check first things like brakes, steering, suspension (all three include tyres) then on to important electricals like lights, heater blower motor, wipers, horn, etc.. If you've got a petrol engine then yes, engine oil and filter, air filter, spark plugs, perhaps using appropriate cleaners on MAF and throttle body, perhaps a coolant change is required (brake fluid), perhaps change of transmission fluid, perhaps a change of power steering fluid. You can get a Haynes workshop manual which will include regular servicing schedules (how good it is for other work on the cars I do not know).
  40. Big Red do some great work, I know a few people who've used them in the past and they're always spot on, plus local (ish) for us.
  41. Its water within the reflector. Thanks for the pic and part number,

What a year for RedBull. Despite the sour taste left by the budget shenanigans this is Adrian Newey's most dominant car ever. Better than any of his Williams McLaren or earlier RedBulls. In race trim its perfomance is crushing. Plenty of downforce yet seemingly much less drag than the others. It doesn't matter where Max qualifies he just blasts past them all on the straights. Newey is a genius.

Oh Yes. And I have fitted the Shimano 105 CS-R7000 cassette . Early days with only one ride but seems ok even with the original eKMC chain. It wasn't dropping down gears at first but seems ok now. The one thing not keen on .... SRAM gearing. Always had Shimano and without issues. The previous model had 10 SPEED Shimano but this has 11speed dram due to shortages I guess. Not a fan really. Shimano shifter way better with push pull rather than push push to change gears. And the NX derailleur springs are so stiff. Still love it tho...
