  1. Agreed, I think it's reasonable to look for more than simply taking it off charge and starting (see my confidence growing!) the Juke straight away. Even if this is moving the goal post a smidge. This request depended on my finding a working multimeter, but I see what you're after. I think I'm starting to smell a Kit-kat 😁 I'd just like to point out the efforts I'm going to here. Holding multimeter leads on both battery terminals, while taking a photo at the same time is no mean feat with only one arm that works! More like Triggers Broom-endale. Yes I miscalculated sawing some flooring a couple of decades ago It was very upsetting. I blame the people we purchased the house from. If they didn't have the CH pump under the floor at the top of the stairs, I wouldn't have felt the need to move it to the airing cupboard, and wouldn't have discovered the hash someone had made of the square (ish) of floor that had been cut out. It looked like they'd done it with a blunt road drill, from outside, on the end of a JCB arm 😡 It's now back on charge and drawing fairly nicely: Slow to update today as having a lazy (easy like) Sunday morning. Then Mrs Gaz tempted me with an intermission of: 😎 G
  2. Thank you all very much for your suggestions, I have some isopropyl alcohol, I will give that a try first.
  3. Quick status update: I've done around 1500km since changing the battery. I've not seen one warning on the dash when starting, and starting has been strong and fast even when left around -5 to -10 during the recent cold days. Stop start also works robustly & I've even seen "stop start available" in the vehicle status view which I don't think I even saw very often when the vehicle was new.! No signs of problems from not coding a new battery or not clearing the errors. Should have changed it much sooner..! Gabbo
  4. It works after swapping fuse 15 with 32. I now have working front wipers and non working back wiper but I can live with that until I find my spare fuses. Thanks guys.
  5. Well, I've seen how long it takes them to press a button to turn a sign on when theres been a breakdown on the motorway.... Not sure it would be much slower if they were on strike. All the wombles seem to do is get there slower than the police and stand around wishing they were the police until recovery gets there
  6. I've often suggested that she's missed a great business opportunity. Her roast potato's (and wedges, come to think of it) are always amazing. My Son is a chef and even he is bemused at how good they are, consistently. Aunt Bessie, eat your spuds out 😁 We go out occasionally for breakfast, and good as they always are, they're never quite up to DIY standards. G
  7. There are 2 sets of contacts on the brake light switch, one set monitored by the body control module to activate the brake lights (primary but not sole function) one set monitored by the engine ECU to cut engine fuelling when braking amongst other functions. The OP was correct in stating that the flashing glow plug light was probably due to a faulty brake light switch. To the OP, a relatively simple way of checking that the ECU is recieving the correct inputs from the brake light switch (incorrect or absent will cause the MIL light to illuminate) is to left foot brake while keeping the right foot on the accelerator, if the engine power cuts then all is well in regard to the switch.
  8. Original EFB battery charged fine and fitted back in again rather than re-code the AGM battery. I will keep checking on the original EFB battery to see if it's changing OK I do have a battery/alternator tester.
  9. There are a few additional codes for anyone else that follows this thread.
  10. I've tried several products over the years, but this one has been the best I've tried.
  11. Grabbing a list of PR codes for the VIN would be the easiest way to check, if you have PR-7CS listed, then it'll have a GPF. Timeline for the reg changes from VW: As the vRS was an existing model, the changes would have applied to cars built after the 1st September 2018. That means it'll be MY19 (Model Year 19) or '68 plate onwards. Some very early '68 plates built before September probably avoided the GPF Had a quick look on eBay at downpipes, Both shown below were listed as Golf MK7 GTI's which has the same (or very similar) 245ps engine as the vRS. I believe the left is a pre-GPF and the right is with a GPF, it's probably that massive cylinder at the bottom
  12. Many years ago it was said on here (jokingly) that an innocent cute kitten is shot ever time some posts a question on here without using the search function!
  13. It's back after having the electrics fixed, mechanic got the car going and then the drivers window (apparantly) Went ape****. So bought a brand new loom for the door too. Then the (original mind) battery finally gave up after being sat for so long, so it got a new battery. Finally got a full service when it was away, as it was due soon anyway. Got it back midday yesterday and racked up 350 miles on it since. Nice to be back in it. Put the rarb back on it and put my winters on after that photo was taken. Going to put it back on the shortlist for nct and get it in ASAP. Probably be another months wait though.
  14. My MkII came with two umbrellas but my MkIII came with just the one. I had kept one of the MkII umbrellas but found that the newer umbrellas have a oval shaped handle whereas the earlier ones were round. The round one will fit in the holder, just about. The earlier umbrella is much nicer too - a leather handle and nice Skoda scripting on the fabric.
  15. First port of call would be to check battery terminals are fitted correctly, clean and tight.
  16. See, this why we ask you to at least fill in a nation under "location", is that we can give you better legal/warranty advice if we know what laws apply.
  17. And even longer to turn them off - even hours after the incident has cleared!
  18. I appreciate the though regarding a takeaway but would have to agree with you regarding the lack of freshness on delivery If you have time when up maybe we could meet up? Good selection of acceptable breakfasts on The Wirral; I've tested quite a few
  19. SWMBOs Fabia has the 1.0 110PS TSI engine, with 16 inch wheels. Ride is very good. Engine not quite as velvet-smooth as my 1.4, and a little less torque, but very enjoyable to drive.
  20. Sorry EnterName, in my post on page3 I was referring the mk3 Octavia vRS TSI engines not the 190ps budack engine, apologies for the mix up.
  21. H i Stray. We don't get an allowance, it's just a case of pick a colour and it's classed as a company car, we never own it. You're much better off with the Enyaq 60 than your previous cars. Do think the electric car is just a passing fad, much like wind turbines. Hydrogen and tidal turbines are the future. But that's a political discussion for another day 🙂 I am getting a new octavia mk4 jan2023 whilst my company sort there farce with electric out! To replace my old mk3 octavia
  22. I upgraded to the full European map because it seemed the easiest was to have the UK, Ireland, the IoM, Channel Islands, France, Andorra, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Germany and Belgium on a single card. Yup, we get around!
  23. Have you checked the brake servo vacuum hose and all its connections for cracks and leaks?

Auto diesel estate tech, ordered April 2022 arriving Jan 2023. Reason for date change as was supposed to be delivered April 2023 = Early Build! It's a company car ordered through a lease company. Several other employees are also getting there cars delivered, all ordered at same time.
  25. Please note - I am not a mechanic or expert in anything. Garages can be colder and damper inside than the outside, that no way to treat an old friend like Stanley! If it's +5c in the garage that's reasonable for the battery and charger, keep going slow and steady. I think it could take and hold the full charge, as much as it would be for a 9 year old battery that's been left to discharge anyway and even if it's lost a lot of it's cranking ability it could continue to start the Juke. It's surprising how much abuse some batteries seem to be able to take. Sure if it left as it was at some stage you might be charging it again but if you get to it before it gets too low you might see year(s) rather weeks or months out of John the battery. Just get it fully charged and not overcharged rather than just partially charge, judgement call with old standard charger as the new "smart" ones with drop to a maintenance once the battery is fully charged meaning you don't need to worry about leaving it and it overcharging. As you've show yours I'll show my old charger, well from the 1990s (or perhaps late 80s I forget), and well it's not mine but a photo from the almost world wide intraweb, it's still going strong and used very recently, well it might not be as strong as it was but it's still going.. Prove the doubters wrong, make Stanley and John proud.
  26. Binding, it's where the parts grip each other and cannot be released without damage, a helicoil prevents stainless fasteners from binding, it's standard engineering practice.
  27. Ice was pretty thick at Rufford park earlier
  28. Deal, with one condition - battery sits off-charge for minimum of 12 hours after full charging cycle.
  29. Thanks for all the replies, the reason I paid for the option was the expectation that it would clear my screen more quickly than the heater/fan combination (I work night shifts & the ability to get the screen clear/warm seats etc in the morning is very nice!) I too feel a little cheated as it does not appear to deliver that. By way of comparison, I spoke with my brother today who has a MK3 Octavia & a 68 plate VW transporter, both with the 'wire element' type of heated front screen, which deliver a faster screen clearing time. I was trying to get an idea of performance so I could speak about my disappointment to my dealer, armed with a little more knowledge/facts.
  30. The big problem is that lead-acid batteries really hate deep discharge.
  31. Many do the same, but then the tyres on a fabia mk3 with 16" rims are not like 'Rubber Bands'. 205/40 R 17's on a Mk2 Fabia vRS are.
  32. The cars with 17" rims had 'Low profile' tyres, and anyone with 18" even lower profile. Others can comment on 16's but really they are not Low Profile or make the car crashy.
  33. I had a lot of free time today, and it happened! Full map on 16GB card works! To be honest I had to remove a ton of stuff and it still needs more testing! If anyone is intresting in testing it alonside me let me know and I can give you a full list of stuff that I think you "don't need"
  34. I cannot see enough detail from that photo, needs a better lit, better focussed shot please.
  35. I would love to see the communications between the dealership staff, Skoda / VW UK or the Skoda factory. Written communications. Was the Customer Assistant that branch or dealership group Warranty Manager. Regardless lying is part of the skill set.
  36. Sadly, the worst part is the turbo will be say £1,000 for example. And the turbo could be brought yourself for £450, that 10% off is a joke. Values are examples, don't quote that at them.

Google Maps on Android Auto or Apple Carplay is vastly superior to Skoda maps and always free, just plug your phone into the usb port and select the appropriate option on the infotainment
  38. Just wandering around the North Cape of Norway (as you do) via Google Street View..... https://www.google.com/maps/@70.9766757,25.7912167,3a,75y,264.05h,88.67t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sPEQkRScmgnZdw0QAhkBrRQ!2e0!7i16384!8i8192 Is this the furthest-north Yeti pic? Best wishes for Christmas and the New Year to you all 🥂

My Octavia Vrs tdi estate ordered in Dec 21 is on the boat to the UK 😀 My colleague who ordered a Superb IV in Nov 21has been told that his is likely to be at least another 6 months due to them currently been unable to source batteries for the hybrids.
  40. Yeah, that's the one that normally blows.
  41. PS. If E5 97/99 is only going to cost you less than £3 extra for Tesco Momentum 99 or Sainsburry Super Unleaded 97 then why not try a tank or 2. 97 or 99 ron is the Minimum, it might be higher than minimum
  42. To the Wanderer 2015 103 tsi wagon manual. 234000 kms zero faults still as good as new inside and out 2020 Karoq 1.5 47000 kms zero faults still as new inside and out Best cars we have had in 55 years car ownership think you have been very unlucky regards Roger
  43. Mattyboy if you really want a vrs just go buy one their really good motors ,every make of car has its horror stories hence why forums have appeared ,folk rarely come on to say my cars running like a dream ,there places to get help with problems ,for every car thats s *** theres a thousand perfect ones 👍
  44. I think you are right. Upping boost, fueling, etc must have a negative effect on emissions. VAG were caught first but you now see adverts for legal action against Volvo, Ford, Renault, Nissan, Fiat and Mercedes Benz. Pretty sure Mitsubishi have already been through the legal mill with emissions too. Most car manufacturers have already stressed that up and coming emissions targets are too strict and not viable as well which just speeds up the push to electric and increases the chances of manufacturers cheating.
  45. I always try to give way to traffic coming uphill if I can. And if you look well enough ahead, you usually can. I actually like what Ken says (in his first post) regarding a stream of traffic. In certain situations it makes sense to me to let them continue if they are already moving.......... I wish they could programme traffic lights to do this. I guess they COULD) As the amount of times I get stopped at the top of our road as the lights change to red. There's one car there ffs, I scream at the camera, Lol. So I have to stop for just one car ......... and then the other car has to stop, just for me sometimes. The timing of these lights could be so much better... Grrrrrr
