  1. It is for storing a hi-vis vest (as per the picture on it!). Should be open, just as you see it.
  2. How about the quote by Varoom on 8th Feb taken from the service manual edition 04.2022 ?

Thought I'd mention: @SimonD316 @Timmyboy @Gizmo All great to purchase from. Cheers all! Lee
  4. Very nice 😎 Welcome!
  5. I understand J.R., a great many people all over have had to make changes for reason/s or other. No matter how hard for you, the fact you were able to start making changes, against the tide maybe, says a lot for your character and strength. I on the otherhand, crashed out, I was like--well-- mentally swimming through jelly, a lot of heartache and greif, things had to give and I did. As someone said to me recently, holes like that don't go away, you just, given time, learn to stear around them. It's a crooked straight line path but everyday is going forward---most days that is.

  7. Just bought a 14 plate superb mk2 hatch/saloon (learnt that from here) L&K I am sure you guys and your posts will help me out no end!.
  8. Thanks, I may even have one, I vaguly remember buying one, if not I will buy one. If sump tube doesn't fit, I suppose I can aways adapt it, splice a tube that does fit to 3-4inchs of tube supplied.

A couple here! With bonus Glen Coe and bemused partner in the background She's an oldy, with a few issues, but we love her none the less.
  10. I don't know whether the accuracy of the fuel computer is adversely affected by a remap. I don't know if (but I can certainly believe) the accuracy of the fuel computer is affected by a tuning box that "tricks" the ECU into delivering additional fuel. I suppose it depends how MPG is calculated by the fuel computer. If anyone who knows how MPG is calculated by the car can explain how it's done by the car, that would shed some light on this.
  11. Spectacular sky this evening (and a gratuitous Jag picture!).........

My car is built, transported from Germany last week and in the UK port waiting onward shipment to the dealer, hopefully week after next I should pick up 😁 So I don't think the dealer was telling lies. I will post up some pics after I take delivery............. 👌

DQ381 the 7 Speed Wet Clutch DSG used for FWD or AWD with engines more than 250 Nm unless a PHEV, and that have a 80,000 mile service interval. Skoda is 'simply clever' they manage to carry some faults on from one generation of model to the next and even introduce new issues, most recently Software ones. Vorprung Durch Technik, No matter people have short memories, if they get a crap one they move on or say, they all can have issues. Better the Devil you know right enough. Forums and Social media are catching out the manufacturers that say issues are overblown on forums and social media. Vorsprung Durch Technik. VW Group never learn about technology.
  14. Cleaned the car today; bloody filthy. What I need is a whole weekend to get the wheels off, clean the chassis and running gear and detail it all again.
  15. Quite an old version, recommend yto update SW to 5238 when you get it

Actually there are plenty of us. Mine was ordered august 2021
  17. @UndertheRadar have a look at the damptronics. I while back when they were a bit newer to the market the B4 and B6 were the same inside with the B6 having firmer damping. The B6 certainly lacked the monotube design of the standard version. They may have changed that now as I was looking about 4-5 years ago.
  18. Hi. We have the facility to enter any type of modification on our system regardless if it doesn't appear on an official modification database. Regards, Dan.
  19. I never do a front wheel alignment check (front toe-in/toe-out check) when I change my front shock absorbers and springs, as it doesn't alter the front toe-in/toe-out setting...and my front tyres have never worn unevenly as a result.
  20. Now I know it's 3 years then you are certainly not alone, the confinement and the new normal post confinement has been very tough on lots of people myself included, many projects have not progressed during that time. 18 months ago I made the decision that my previous occupation was not going to return and I was not prepared to reconstruct it again from nothing so started making life changes, it's only now that I can feel I am actually moving forwards, so much had to be done to get to this stage and so much remains to be done.
  21. See where you're coming from, but perhaps a little harsh. I've carried loads of stuff in mine which wouldn't have fitted in the hatchback model. A totally flat load area, with rear seat backs folding properly level would be much better, but what I have is better than the hatch. How I miss my Dad's old Volvo 145...

Just to say I'm new to the forum. We have a lovely, well-worn but still chugging, silver Skoda Octavia Estate 2003 - now over 140k miles on the clock!

    140k? Just run in 😉
  24. Yes my fault, I purchased the vehicle in 2019, it broke down in 2019.

Osram Nightbreakers in D1S are now silly expensive. These have good reviews, and you can get a pair for £25. https://www.powerbulbs.com/product/gt-ultra-xenon-d1s-single
  26. I stopped in Bloxham for petrol. Loads of different diesel, but the only petrol on offer was the E10. First tankful of that stuff, so I'm curious to see how it goes. Last tank of Shell V-power gave me 35.9 mpg, which is in the middle of my expected range. I do a lot of short urban miles.

Hi all, I live in Melbourne, Australia and am the proud owner of a 2018 Octavia ‘Sport’ wagon in Race Blue. Love the car and looking forward to joining the community here.
  28. Just do what they do with the diesel engined ones and have the o/s one a fake!😂

A welcome to you from a part-time Glaswegian, if such a thing exists.
  30. Hi Folks, I too check mileage when I fill up, I usually get about 400 to 450 miles before the fuel light goes on, I then fill it up and calculate the MPG, it has always been pretty close to what the maxidot says actually. I might delay the remap and have a look at the cam timing myself. Then if that's ok get a compression test done. Yes, I've cleaned the turbo vanes, the particulate filter, the inlet tract, etc etc Alan.

Yeh, this could be the reason. I have a custom skin on the key fob and as you said, unknowingly by accident those might been pressed.
  32. My mistake... I had it in my head 2030 was the complete ban and hybrids-only after 2025. Pretty sure it was at some point, but you're right, it's 2030 for hybrids only and 2035 for the complete ban. Time for another 2 full generations of Kodiaq yet - if they did a hybrid. But Skoda have previous said no plans for any more hybrids, and they will be concentrating on EVs. So it will be interesting to see if they've changed their minds, or if the speculation about a hybrid powertrain for a new generation is just that.
  33. These kits are for the slide pins, mdfabia1969 is looking for a carrier to hub fastener repair. I have been unable to identify thread diameter and pitch which will be what he needs.

I read somewhere on this forum that the buttons on the keys are quite sensitive with, for example, the tailgate opening seemingly by itself whereas it seems the release button was accidentally pressed whilst the key was in a pocket. Could it be a similar thing in your case - perhaps the unlock button has some pressure on it as you approach the car? May explain the intermittent nature of your observations. Just a thought….
  35. Even with the raised floor, you don't get a flat surface. Because the back seats don't fold flat. And correct, you can't fold/remove the back seat squabs.
  36. Interested to see what this'll look like once welded, and then tidied up again.
  37. That rubbery underseal made quite a mess / cloud of smoke being removed by the way! (cough, cough). Note the peppering of rust at the bottom of the wing. You wouldn't have even known that was there as it corroded from inside.... 😕 Let's start chopping it out then! Angle grinder and cutting disc at the ready! If you are making your own panel try to take the template out in 1 piece if you can. Lower returns are fine, just some surface rust to clean up, the inside of the sill was good, just mucky due to factory waxoil type stuff.... I've had repair panels of varying quality over the years and I didn't need a complete sill so with some 20 gauge (0.9-1.0mm) mild steel I started making a replacement up. (I didn't photograph all of this sorry, I was busy making!) The templace was made from the old one with some overlap to allow for the width of the cutting disc. Also I started forming the 1st swage line that runs from front to back... Yeah, that doesn't look too bad. You can see on the right where I had to drill out some spot welds where it attached to the inner sill. Don't miss those. Also marked where the access rubber plug was too. With a bit of Racing tape, OK it's blue Scotch tape really, let's see how it fits. Marked a centre, drilled and filed out the hole for the plug / bung. Also the 2nd swage line has been added so it looks a little more factory. Offered up. Slightly notched around the raised / water drain area below the plug. Next up will be to weld a return to the panel and start welding it back in. Stay tuned Furby fans! 😛

  39. Been a while, busy renovating and building.. though managed to get to Knockhill today for a Rally event. A few shots below.
  40. Well, its been a week, nothing in the post and the uk speed camera map shows no fixed camera where I, I mean my friend drove

The new owner in going to be rather annoyed when they find the issue... Like I was when I purchased mine with your exact problem. Turned out to be a hairline crack in the cylinder head in cylinder no2. Skoda or Indy's couldn't find the issue, even after a head gasket replacement and supposed pressure test, along with egr and charge air cooler replacements by the previous owner... I did a simple sniff test and pressure tested the coolant system when hot and found a slow leak, so I stripped the head out and got a shop to pressure test it individually, I replaced the head with a recon one and the issue magically went away... Bloody hard work though! Quote from Skoda was £4500+ I think to do it for me, I spent around £500 for parts/gaskets/consumables.
  42. The Ford is poorly and off the road for first time, so it's backup taking up the slack on the commutes this week and hit another standard one
  43. Just looking at that rear end pics again Trevor, I wonder if the strip reflector off the Octavia could be made to fit along the edge of the bumper under the number plate and could you get a more squared off tail pipe finisher to make it a bit less VW and more vRSy?😂 Not suggesting you must do anything with it, just wondering out loud!😁

So there we go. 83 weeks after initial order I took the delivery According to the spreadsheet I am so far winning the 'delay edition' competition. Weather was pretty awful, so no good pics and the car got dirty immediately Anyway, quite happy with it so far. Lot's of things to tweak and annoying behavior when having to manage multiple users with Skoda app and in-car. But otherwise so far so good.
  45. Still has a 'long throw' DSG shifter which isn't exactly on trend at the moment. Would have thought they'd have shrunk it down as other VW/Audi models have done.
  46. 'Dieselgate' was a classic example of being able to get improved consumption and performance by ignoring/cheating emissions requirements. VW are not going to get away with that again so meeting emissions requirements is a major factor in their engine mapping and it had consequences. The 1.5tsi engine took an age to resume production (trying to meet WLTP requirements) and subsequently there were many complaints on Briskoda about its driving characteristics when it was available. AND it took over a year to get software fixes released addressing most of the 1.5tsi issues. My point is that third party performance maps would have less 'incentive' to meet draconian emission requirements so I would expect there to be real, if minor consumption improvements in steady speed driving than on a standard map. Of course, as others have already said, use of the loud pedal cancels out any consumption benefits . Believe me, if I thought a performance map would pay for itself in improved consumption then I would have got one a long time ago! When you buy a 2.0tsi VW engine vehicle you are already committing to a preference for power over good fuel consumption.....however how much depends on a lot on factors, but mainly where and how you drive. Around town they are pretty heavy consumers compared to smaller (turbo) engines, on the motorway I cannot recall reading any validated consumption (refuel figures) bettering 49mpg for a standard tune regardless of how 'gently' the owner claimed they drove. I can recall only one refuel validated mapped 2.0tsi claim over 50mpg, with a full passenger load and driver not pushing at all and just going with the 'motorway flow' upto Scotland. The OP would have been driving in max 8 degree C temps when he posted so I think his 45 mpg consumption returns are pretty typical for the car, conditions and distance, assuming the displayed consumption is accurate. I would have been disappointed to get less than 55mpg in my 1.4tsi in a similar circumstances, but I might not have kept up with him.
  47. Those aero inserts have to go. And I need to find another 10cm in the garage.
