  1. Hi everyone. All successfully repaired, great to have the windows and heated mirrors working again. Hardest bit was using a manual rivitter to refit the speaker. Thank you again for all the help I received.🙂.
  2. There'll be absolutely no problem running a bigger battery in your car. From what I found with mine is that it needs every amp it can get on cold starts.
  3. I can recommend @Breezy_Pete for window motor repairs. Top quality service, and well worth it.

Not sure if I can still believe, but just got a call from my dealer and was told that car is fully built and my Octavia Style 1,5 TSI 110kW mHEV DSG will be delivered next week... So after ordering Sep 2021... moving dates 3 times (Order Sep 2021->first estimate Apr/May 2022 -> estimate update to Oct 2022-> estimate update to Feb 2023 -> estimate update to Apr/May 2023)... it is finally coming true. Still being afraid to be happy and thinking, that something will change and will get a call saying " sorry, we mixed up" or something Fingers crossed 🤞
  5. I’ll be honest I bought the mudflaps to reduce the sheer amount of sprayed up road gunk across the back and sides of the car. But do I think they work? Nope. Still terrible. It surely helps but it def doesn’t work. Coupled with the marking the paint I’d say don’t ever remove them and if you think you will don’t ever fit them in the first place.
  6. Remaps generally hamper resale as most people don’t like them. APR also have there bad press (like most companies though TBH) I’m sure it was on here where one owner blew their engine up with an APR remap installed on it. I don’t know the full story so just make your decision with your eyes wide open. Never heard on RacingLine referred to as ‘up and coming’ 😂 I’m sure I have even seen Ben mention they work directly with the VW racing team.
  7. This PDF of a 2017 price list seems to show the same model with both NYHET and KAMPANJE with the KAMPANJE models being cheaper. They translate with Google as NEWS and CAMPAIGN Make of that what you will. skodapriser_octavia_2017.pdf
  8. This evening's walk...........
  9. Not sure if this should be under a separate heading but as I mentioned it here. Carista dongle procedure, it all went to plan but some differences. The dongle is available on Amazon at a discount price but not obvious. Sellers mention Carista Gen 1 & 2, don't get hung up on this, they are and do the same thing, the confusion caused is all about packaging. While you do get a free 1 months trial, you do have to purchase a full years subscription and cancel within 30 days. In the UK once the app has downloaded, dongle plugged in and both phone and dongle are connected, there is no longer a choice of countries as stated in some of the You Tubes, This I think is because the Carista app has evolved/updated, you get a choice of Germany, Europe/Other, choose the latter if in the UK. There is no Australia or America selection although there is still the choice of languages Depending on what you are attempting, the video/s are pretty much as advised. I got my big speedo back so am happy. 😄
  10. Brexit, the gift that keeps taking away...
  11. I can send you an ISO file (image of a 💿) that you need to burn to a blank CD, if you have a writer? I don't think you can recover from an SD Card.
  12. You could try what I did. Do the firmware reload with a late revision firmware DVD. Once re-flashed which should take about 30 minutes it luckily cured mine. The firmware flash will not touch either your hard disk loaded music or maps. It also will fix a corrupt boot splash screen.
  13. 1. Yes 2. SK240DDRS identifies it more precisely as for a RHD mk1 Fabia. 6Y2959802 might otherwise also be found as a driver's door unit in a LHD mk2 Fabia/Roomster or Polo, with different versions of that last line (SK25..., VW24...). Those ones will have opposite handedness and not fit, I think. I can recommend repair of your unit, see my signature for a link. 🙂
  14. @ords Thanks. The first seen picture is a great underneath diagram. @toot Thanks. Found this video explaining perfectly lifting onto 2 or 4 stands. Octavia mk3 2014, I think jack lifting point reasonably far back on the front centre as theres a lot of plastic under trim but found the rear master point very easily. Will take a photo underneath once it's up and repost.
  15. Ive a diffent system to you myns the bigger touch screen one sorry didnt work for you dont no what else to suggest my phone always connected to android auto anyway just the map part didnt work till i changed that in settings
  16. There are sellers asking ridiculous prices for used cars and this can be because of the supposed shortage and because Dealers & Traders might have paid too much in trade ins or buying from auction etc. You will be paying a premium from a business / dealer / trader but getting some consumer protection more than private purchases. Prices are all over the place and you need to decide what is good value, or worth the price, or desirable. 9-12 year old cars are plentiful in the UK and at different prices around the UK so it is just a case of finding what you want. Just be aware of additional costs of maintenance and servicing if stuff is not up to date with the previous keepers ownership and budget for having to have stuff done and who you will be having do it for you.
  17. Sorry for asking but have you tried to free the fan..I gave mine a bit of a brush out with detailing brush then a good dosing of gt85....worked absolutely fine since...obviously I am assuming the fan has stopped...cant comment on the rear demister though
  18. Given the tooling cost to make an exact copy of the original you can see that the first is a fake, the second one may have actually come from the original moulds, when you have stuff made in China that can happen a lot, the circuit board inside is another think, likely to be a cheap clone but once again it could actually have come off the same production line or be rejects being recycled. Critically though its the lack of a serial number, Rosstech control the issue of these and that is how they are renumerated, without a genuine serial number and genuine dongle you are not going to be able to register the device and obtain support from Rosstech and having the security of knowing that what you will be plugging into your vehicle is the real deal and not going to cause mayhem with the vehicles control modules. Very interesting to see the photos, I like the way you slipped the genuine one in without giving the game away. Good luck with finding a genuine one.
  19. Good news! It passed the emissions test! I took a measure at my trusted MOT garage and it was well bellow the limits. Now, I have to see how long the catalyst will last. But that's a whole different story... Thanks for the advices!!!
  20. Welcome to the forum. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/511557-axle-stands-jacking http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/504330-axle-stand-points-guidance-please
  21. My facelift Octavia came with the default sound system, and I am keen to tinker with it and upgrade it a bit. The first thing I'm doing is installing some sound deadening mats/acoustic foam around the place, and I thought that whilst I've got all the door trims off, I could put in some improved speakers. What sort of speakers would usually get recommended for this application? I didn't want to make it too complex - I wasn't planning on adding a new amp, or necessarily a dedicated subwoofer (would adding a dedicated subwoofer imply the need for an upgraded amp and generally quite a lot more set up?)
  22. The other day I coded the foglights to come up with the DRL during daytime (looks like this), and I think it looks quite neat
  23. @RoddersUK Sorry I have never had anything to do with Euro 6 2.0 TSI's and just see what others put on this forum or social media. There are plenty about with the knowledge or experience. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/503525-raceline-remap

Fingers crossed you do find one you can be comfortable in 🤞
  25. thats what my first thought was, but in the table under the chassis type is specified as "STV", which is short for "stasjonsvogn", which is the norwegian word for estate. So all these are estate models. And only some of them are listed with the (K). The price is to the far right.

Ignore the 015E/017E numbers... you might have more luck using the the fact it's a Hella headlamp with part number 1ZS 247 047-11. Also scrapper will be your best bet, should be plenty around to find a part eventually. But as mentioned by @softscoop do some drying/investigation work, we all know water and electric are not the best "friends" Also, you can bypass mad dealer rates, and learn how to drop bumper off, first time is always fun, and better with a partner (joke there...) it becomes quicker to do once you know how it all comes together, and worth seeing if you need more parts around headlamp area that might be broken. As for the dealer calibration, you can most likely do this yourself with VCDS tool or equivalent, plenty of people in West Yorkshire can help out with those (me included)

Before you go to the expense of a new cluster, it might just need drying out. They're a bit of a pain to remove as the bumper needs to be dropped, but once you've got it off, you can assess it for more cracks etc, and see whether it's terminal. If the bulbs are failing simply from water in the unit, and you manage to get it and keep it dry, then the ballast and electronics can all be swapped over.
  28. I am 99% sure it will be PWY24W, the other can be one of those little brain flips where a letter gets swapped (then it takes a few copy/paste errors to spread)
  29. Install Free Download Manager and intergrate this into your browser. It will then capture download link and speed it up. Try speed and report back, otherwise I can supply if needed.
  30. Please post in English as per the forum guidelines. You’ll likely get more help this way too 👍
  31. Answered before.. The crankshaft fits with mods. 1.6 doesn't use any Polo mounts, it's mated to Skoda gearbox through adaptor plate. He'd need Felicia donor and then change whole engine wiring, as 1.6 uses different engine management. It is possible, there are turbo'd Skodas with 100kw+, but it's not easy to make a program that won't blow up the engine.
  32. Again update on this. So, malfunction is in door handle for sure. I switched left side to right and right to left and problem occured on other side. Only solution for this as I am told is new door handle. Cheers
  33. I got it from either Lidl or Aldi last week, can't remember which. It's great now I am used to using it, I would recommend getting some 1.0mm solder to use with it.
  34. Nice. Same color and trim as the 80x I ordered in May last year. I hear the 4wd take extra time… 😬
  35. The 190 is more likely to trouble the traction control than the remapped 150 My 190 was a 2016 so had the 6 spd DSG, whereas my 2019 150 has the 7 spd.........it's a weird change from 1st to 2nd in the 7spd, I find............it kinda slips the clutch between 1st and 2nd (this is probably why it doesn't break traction as easily as my old 190.
  36. I'm sure you've seen the gob****e who wrote off his yellow vrs into a lamp post just after having a load of work done to it. Killed it. I've noticed a load of people breaking cars with any sort of spec because it's worth more than selling it whole. I realise I'm the pot calling the kettle black since I'm stripping my vrs at the minute but that's because that cars rotten and I'm repurposing the drive train into my sdi.
  37. My work uses (among others) 2 new kamiqs as courtesy cars, ones an ambition the others a style (I think) so has bigger rims. Far prefer the ambition with its smaller wheels and massive sidewall, soaks up the bumps like a champ. They're basically a fabia on stilts but they absolutely nailed the ride on them.
  38. Fan Display level Auto Original source: ---- The following code is used: Control unit: 08 Air Conditioning - Adaptation Blower display in auto operation: Blower display in auto operation: activated @SkOmk4 FYI
  39. What year is this Fabia? I think VCDS output tests for module 09 Central Electronics can command wiper action. If nothing happens you can probably conclude that the relay is toast. Doubt you'll see a fault code with relay contact failure. There's a how-to for replacing the relay in this section. Requires soldering/desoldering skills. Whereabouts are you?
  40. So Haldex oil change including pump dropped and gauze cleaned by great independent place as recommended by @numskull . Digital record updated and took pics before and after. Before: After: This is on a car with less than 13.5k miles on the clock. So definitely something that should be advised. God knows why VAG don’t recommend it if they care about cars running for as long as capable. Really grateful for the forum for stuff like this 👍🏼
  41. After seeing some videos on skoda vrs forums on Facebook the chav wagon definitely springs to mind. Seeing some of the content makes me feel embarrassed to drive one.

I ordered mine (Octavia SEL 1.5 DSG) on 6th September 2022 when I was quoted a delivery time of 37 weeks which would take us to June. The dealer rang last week to say it should be with them in two to three weeks - two months earlier than the original estimate.

Glad some people were able to help, feel free to find their threads and give them a like or thanks reaction 🤝
  44. I can send it to you, if you want to bypass their head scratching. You can of course load firmware at your own risk, but 99.99% have no issues, and you cannot accidently load incorrect software.
  45. Well, I dropped the VRS TSi down to the dealer for a small job and I came out to find a cover fitted. I had none from new. I tried to pull it up to see part numbers but it's all sponge. There's no hard shell on top to grab. As it's sponge, I tried to pull but it just bent. I chickened out when pulling it.... As an aside, I've been told that it's months of back order for the fabric panel that clips onto the underside of the bonnet.
  46. My new steering wheel arrived hopefully I can get the buttons operating the mfd, watching a couple of airbags just have to wait a month or so
  47. Just fitted facelift rear lights so now I’m in cool down mode for abit, just needs a service soonish
  48. Alright bud haha, doesn’t get the traffic on here it used too but good to see some familier names still about though
