  1. 79.7% of Briskoda posts from members changing their wheel/tyre combinations to larger sizes do it because they like the look. 81.3% of professional car reviewers say that the higher spec larger wheeled versions of a particular model ride worse than the cheaper smaller wheeled version. 87.2% of statistics are made up on the spot.
  2. @Colin170CR, highly doubt a VAG Independent will do it, as @varooom stated above. If u follow my guide, the process is straightforward to do.
  3. Wow, what dammed good customer service, last night I emailed the dealer and asked about the missing engine undertray as they had done, prior to me purchasing the car, a cambelt change, water pump at the same time as Skoda recommend, a full engine service along with a DSG gearbox service and oil change, a new N/S headlamp replacement as the DRL had packed up (Xenon) and a new replacement N/S rear lamp unit, lens had been broken, new discs and pads all round. My thinking was that they had to remove the undertray in order to carry out the engine service etc and might simply have forgotten to replace it afterwards, so I asked them if it was laying around in their service bay someplace at all. This morning I received a nice email back saying that they had checked all of their records and discovered that they had received the car minus the tray when they purchased the car from Skoda fleet operations and as a gesture of goodwill, they were ordering one from an aftermarket supplier and having it delivered to me at home, a 145 miles away from them in Mansfield. What brilliant customer service and it is real treat it is to deal with a reputable dealer, especially after coming across their complete opposite in Heathrow, who even wanted me to buy a car with a huge crack in the windscreen and claim a replacement on my insurance, err, no way it was a MOT failure and a major safety hazard. So if anyone is looking for a decent 2nd hand Skoda, I can 100% recommend you check out the dealer where I got mine from, they buy lots of cars from Skoda leasing and always seem to have plenty of stock on hand, their details are: Radford Motor Sales Ltd, 337A Nottingham Road, Mansfield, NG18 4SG. Tel. 01623 652004 www.radfordsgarage.co.uk I'm glad I discovered them.
  4. I can confirm, - that SW 1941 is available at swedish dealers - as several already have pointed out, that dealers won't apply software updates during a normal service unless the customer provides them with a list of experienced issues which they then can try to match to available TPIs.* Just asking the dealer "Are there any software updates available to my car" will most likely result in the dealer telling you "No" eventhough there are software updates available.** - that dealers will ask you for evidence as proof of the claimed issues and, when you have evidence, will question whether the evidence you're providing is actually from your car. Though explaining the obvious to them usually helps, i.e. that several issues occur during driving, randomly (i.e. can't be reproduced at will) and lasts for a short while so to try to use your phone to record the issue is close to impossible and even illegal while driving in some countries.*** *I don't blame the dealers for this. I've heard from several dealers that the morons at Skoda Sweden are against the proactive roll out of new software. Their reason being that it can cause new issues. I won't go into the level of stupidity, immaturity and lack of responsibility behind such a statement. **Neither do I blame the dealers for this. They search for available updates for your specific car in the system they've been provided with by Skoda and that system tells the dealer that there are no updates eventhough there are updates available. My guess is that the reason for this is probably that Skoda never had or have long ago lost control over what cars may be affected by what bugs so they are likely not capable of matching software updates to a specific car. ***Neither do I blame the dealers for this. Obviously the morons at Skoda Sweden are behind this. If your car is still under warranty then the dealers have to ask Skoda Sweden for payment for their work associated with installing the software. The dealers are then being questioned by the cowards at Skoda Sweden (the people making decisions at Skoda Sweden hide behind their first-line support instructed to always refer the customer to the dealers) which in turn results in the dealers posing the same questions to the customers. Thus the dealers are getting badwill as they are forced to ask stupid and accusing questions. The issues regarding the software are, in my opinion, as bad as or even worse than "dieselgate". In a previous post someone mentioned suing the car companies. I haven't heard anything about any legal action being taken against any of the car companies due to the release of poor (and frankly dangerous) software. Anyone heard anything? After my warranty expires I will be furious if I will be forced to pay for any software updates related to fixing bugs in the system (or "security updates" to features that don't belong in a car to start with).

Ceramic spray applied following collection yesterday.
  6. Lol, I was thinking the Matrix.....red pill or blue pill!!! Anyways, I've attached a how to guide I just created. Firmware Update Guide v1.0.pdf
  7. These numbers are correct, but a direct replacement 18" tyre for a 205/55R16 will have a sidewall height of 113mm - 25 mm or 88mm. The important point that you haven't seemed to understand is that you keep the rolling diameter the same (within a few mm either way) so if you increase the wheel diameter by 2", you have to decrease the sidewall height by 25mm.
  8. Today i ordered a New MINI Cooper S electric level 3. Silver, Black Roof & Mirror caps, 16" Victory Black wheels, Black Leather interior, Black Roof lining, Panoramic Glass sunroof, Privacy glass. (Without the Piano Black exterior trim option. No bonnet stripes, no roof rails.)
  9. Ceramic spray applied this morning after collection yesterday
  10. @GokhanD Examples. Bottom comparison why your example was not close..
  11. I recently updated the firmware of my Superb MY17 from version 0942 to 1433, and created a guide for anyone else who would b interested in going down this path. Firmware Update Guide v1.0.pdf
  12. @lol-lolJust grabbing one while i can. Changing circumstances, not needing to do so many miles, so just for local use and health issues (worried about eyesight and back.) so just as well to have a fun car. Now Motability prices for Q3 and no advance payment, money for ordering a new car & some good condition money due handing back the Corsa. (LOL at the condition.) No point waiting on the next generation car as i will not be able to afford it. Really not wanting to go order a Kia Niro in poverty spec even with a big battery & range.
  13. find someone with vcds, make adaptation channels map and send me.
  14. All done thanks varooom Anyone in the uk I bought a Scandisk 64gb USB C for £12 from Argos took around 15min to update
  15. Usually VAG independent garages will not have these updates. They need a server that I doubt they will have to download these, I don't think they are ever sold to non-dealers. You are best to find your Software Train and post image, and the firmware can be supplied.
  16. I could not disagree more, our 1.0 115 BHP DSG is very nippy . The DSG box suits the engine and car perfectly. Happy to recommend
  17. The stock 18 size is 225/40/18. Much lower profile than the 205/55/16. Hence why people are saying that they are a harder ride. That size you are looking at is way out of the realms of usable on the Octavia. Won't fit the wheel wells and the drivetrain will struggle.
  18. The car has arrived and been released for delivery tomorrow 01/07 that eight weeks ahead of schedule . P.s the wife still got her watch.
  19. Cheers gents, only got one side pic so far as it's raining and crap lighting, looks darker in this pic than they really are
  20. Apparently its quite a common fault. I have seen a couple with the same problem.
  21. Hello there! I'm glad you survived the fuel leak.
  22. None of us getting any younger. I need a car that checks I am fully alert, think they are talking about them, checks your eyes are open etc. I sometimes need a good slurp of Red Bull type drink. Once it may have been some amphetamines but I think one of these is somewhat illegal. Different in Scotland ?
  23. Nice British made car. You clearly know this car would probably have less range than your e-corsa. What is the logic of this choice over other EVs that do have longer range than the Mini EV ? Nice power though. Got a lot of pickup with its 181 hp motor !
  24. I can't find enough 🤨 🙄 🤬 emojis to show how much I feel your pain guys!!! I'm sure it's a case of Android Auto in the car isn't updated as frequently as on the mobiles, and there's some inherent incompatibility, so they stop talking to each other. If there's anyone connected to Skoda on this forum, please help......
  25. @varooom thank you wery match!
  26. FAT32 is usually up to 32GB (iirc) exFAT above this, you can definitely use exFAT on larger USB sticks
  27. That is useful for the dealer as the TPI text includes...
  28. I had a fair few issues recently on the same engine. 2015 Octavia 3 vRS 2.0 TDI (CUPA). Symptoms included Loss of power P0299 Turbo underboost DTC Fan running for extended periods of time Poor fuel economy Burning through oil like nobody's business (from full to empty in 600 miles average). I spoke to a fair few VW "Specialists" who all said that given the cars high milage 197,000 that this would be a turbo failure and quoted me +£800 for a replacement. Checked the DPF and it appeared it was fully blocked with a back pressure of approx 5 psi. Cleaned out the DPF and the car works a treat.
  29. I don't honestly think that manufactures anylonger list services by year in their service records as the service book for my 2013 Suberb has the same things listed on every page with the garage simply ticking the boxes that have and haven't been looked at or changed.... There's certainly nothing I think of special about a 9 year service ... Timing Belt and Water Pump with Tensioners should be changed around 5 years or 70/80,000 miles, DSG Boxes depending on type require a service every 4 years or 40,000 miles others are a longer period and higher mileage, Haldex System is normally every 3 years or 30,000 miles and brake fluid every 2 years.... Air and cabin/pollen filter I tend to change every service but most people change every other service... Diesel Fuel filter is something like every 50/60,000 miles (at least on my Octavia).... It's a long time since I've a a petrol engine so I can't comment on those
  30. That is what I thought you updated it for, just wanted to check to make sure my assumption was correct. Currently I'm not having any of the issues as listed in the TPI, so may not do the update at this juncture, but I do want to do at some point soon is to try and update the maps, POI and also get the TMC working again, which I still have to research further. But well done on your "how to" guide, we really more of these types of guides for the benefit of other members. 👍
  31. It's firmware change. With a custom map tuners can change also various other settings in car's computer which are not possible with coding. For example changing start/stop to remember last setting, left foot braking, disabling auto-**** in manual mode, etc...
  32. Smallest ive had, 1 child seat seems to fill it Mondeo Superb (3) Etate (1) Octavia Karoq Epica Passat (4)
  33. Yes mib upgrade is the best option. Therefore you won't get wireless android auto or carplay, the units are not meant for it. They are dongles for wirelessly but won't recommend theme as they have speech recognition delay and don't quite understand what you say on Android auto. I can't pronounce for Apple carplay. Stick with the mib upgrade and wired connection. It works Great and charges your phone at the same time.

Jurid and Ferodo on autodoc list the Superb MK2 2.0TDI 140HP as having 282x12mm rear disc brakes with build code 1KJ. However, to be absolutely sure you need to check that your car has build code 1KJ.
  35. Took the Blue pill and updated the firmware of the MIB2 Columbus unit in Gandalf today. Thanks to @varooom's guidance. The headunit had no issues, but I just wanted to update it cause newer is always better, plus there is a TPI for it - 2047101/6. No noticeable changes really, but it does feel slightly more responsive. Could also b placebo effect too....
  36. Yes, I understood just what you was meaning, I also found some YT videos showing how crack the bond between spindle and the arm using mole grips etc, and none of these worked, hence I ordered the correct tool for the job. I would not want to be break the screen as it is a heated one and would cost a considerable amount to replace, so I took the view, better safe than sorry on this occasion 😉.
  37. Fuse 31 & 49 are the central locking.
  38. That's the method I've used before on a couple of cars and worked both times.. Loosen the nut, lift the arm off the screen as if changing the blade then rock it.
  39. When you do manage to release the wiper arm - beware the strong springs which can ping the spline end of the wiper arm rapidly toward the windscreen. Did something similar a few years ago (different make of car) resulting in a cracked windscreen - doh!!
  40. These guys are very good. http://www.westernpowersteering.co.uk/
  41. Just new here....this is mine iv Sportline. Grtz, Ben.
  42. I ordered the wrong sensor by mistake, got the correct one today and all warning lights now extinguished 👍 It's interesting with regards to the parts prices, I did not return the incorrect one even though it was allowed because the cost of me returning it and of them sending it out in the first place would have exceeded the value. The new one was only €9.46 and the sender, a business sending out thousands of auto parts had paid €7.40 for postage as witnessed by the stamps used. The part and jiffy bag weighed less than 20 grammes, no wonder my country is in such a state when they screw the citizens and businesses to that degree but allow special low postage rates for Chinese imports, I could have made 5 seperate purchases and recieved 5 deliveries to my door from China for the same price. The seller will not have paid any more than 50cts - 99cts for the part, how much do Skoda shaft you for? Breezy Pete will know, the correct part number was WHT003857
  43. I saw my mate and my old 1973 (year) Midget yesterday, he has it looking and going better than I did, I notice when the bonnet was lifted that he had put DoT 5 silicone fluid in the brakes and clutch systems. He said he did not clean the brake system (clutch system was apart and new piping) he just did the usual (Gunson) Eezibleed with the new silicone fluid pushing out and replacing the old DoT 4. No problems with brakes or clutch. Still no problems from putting DoT 5 silicone in his 1970 (year) "classic" 25+ years ago. Both cars use similar brake parts as the Foreman.
  44. I was driving along the autoroute in lane one in France approaching a jucnction slip road with a lot of cars entering. A motorcycle had been following for several km at a good sensible distance. I decided to move to lane two and as I am accustomed, I had a look over my shoulder at my blind spot before the maneouvre. Would you believe it - the biker was there riding parallel to me. Not something I would have done when I was biking with a foreign driver and a busy slip in front. Lucky for him I always check for anything not visible in my mirrors but I was thinking any detction system that alerts a driver to a vehicle in his blind spot must be very worthwhile. I don't have it on my Mk3 Octavia. I do however have the forward facing radar or lidar or whatever and it saved me from a bump. I was slowly approaching a quiet rural junction and glimpsed at my satnav. As I did my brakes were applied because a car came out of nowhere and crossed my path. This 'exaggerated swoop' JR refers to is intensely irritating, and of course dangerous. They come steaming up behind you and only overtake at the last second. Back in the UK I am perplexed by drivers who either fail to signal at all at islands or only signal off. Other road users stop needlessly not knowing the intention of the other driver. I used to car share on a long commute with an older driver who almost never signalled anywhere. It was embarrasing to be in the car with him. Why not signal? It's a mystery to me. If only they could be fined for it.
  45. Just count the spokes Themisto have 7 pairs, Luxon have 9 pairs 👍
  46. Trouble is with this, you're unlikely to get many contributions from people saying e.g. "I was busy on my mobile whatsapping a hilarious youtube link to my mate Dave when the XYZ safety system cut in and definitely prevented me crashing head-on with a car coming the other way. You should have seen the other driver's face, he looked terrified LOL" … "Great safety systems in these cars, innit". And yet those 'saves' might outnumber the false triggers by 100-1 for all we know.
