  1. Had the roof wrapped today, so tied in nicely with the black bootlid, also fit some new vrs badges with red this time, just de wiper to do at some point and probably going to tint the rear lights slightly

@TheWanderer Are you now Pi$$ED OFF that you posted this in the first place? 🤣
  4. They might advice Fuel Treatment in year or 2 as Arnold Clark Service Booking Glasgow did this year when booking the Corsa in for the MOT and no Service. .................. No mention of this was uttered by the Sales Executive that put up the build details. Not a factory option it is Dealership applied. I wonder if it will be done to a car that Motability are buying, if it is on the Build / Invoice it should be, we will see. It all comes out in the wash! Or when you ask the awkward questions.
  5. If you drop the glovebox door down they both slot onto the side of the main fuse box
  6. Pretty sure they don't run a clutch. Haven't done so for 10 years maybe more. It's a variable displacement air con pump isn't it?
  7. Hi All My Fabia 1.6 TDI has now done 235,000 miles Been a great car which is running perfectly. Most of the driving has been long long motorway runs and the fuel economy is still great. I have serviced every 15k miles since 100,000 miles and have had the following done Cambelt and Waterpump changed at 120,000 and 220,000 Disks at 120,000 Cracked rear light cluster Various sets of Tyres Thats it... Anyone else got higher milage? Cheers
  8. My EA111 1.4 Superb had all sorts of strange emission figures a few MOT's ago - they found the oil breather pipe wasn't properly attached. Normal service resumed when sorted.
  9. Not all VaG pads are the same quality. I went to buy some genuine pads for my Fabia with the FS lll calipers. I was offered what the parts chap called the basics range. The company of origin was India and the pads material looked really suspect with cracks and lumpy bits. I declined and bought some Pagid from ECP instead. Overall, these looked much better quality and I have had no problems with any of the rattling described plus the braking !is pretty good tool! Take care with getting copper grease near any of the rubber parts on the calliper as it will make them expand and go floppy.

  12. I have very recently been told by a main skoda dealer that 5 year cam belt change is now 15 years or 150000 miles please check with your local dealer or skoda customer services to quantify
  13. Thanks for the tip, My dad is good friend with a mechanic so hopefully he could ask him to just inspect the wires inside the loom and see if he can just fix the broken wires instead of replacing the whole loom. I’ll come back and update this post with how everything went.
  14. At the same MOT Station? Did you get a fail certificate the first time? If so what did it say?
  15. Messages starting to come in from the Dealership about the countdown to delivery of my new MINI Cooper S Electric. Looks like being 6 weeks away. So i was having a look at the Order / Build documents which would be if i was a Customer buying and not MOTABILITY who do not pay the same. The car comes to £34,470. The 'other items' are £1,079.99, total being £35,548.99 RFL - Alternative -12Months )Including 1st Reg Fee) £55. Motability do not pay that. Delivery £396.68 plus VAT £79.33 £475.99 Motability do not pay VAT. Customer Admin Fee. £145.00 Plus VAT £29.00 £174 Protect X £280.83 Plus VAT £58.17 £349 The one that caught my attention is FUEL, £20.83 plus VAT £4.17 Total £25. **** That if charged would be 28 kWh max @ 90 pence a kWh**** (£25 of petrol would be about 4 gallons at current prices.) ..................... The New Corsa Electric with 'bigger battery and more power' but otherwise the same spec as i have now has a crazy OTR RRP of nearly £39,000.
  16. I wouldn't be that suspicious - the change in simply bringing the UK into line with VAG guidance that was already present in the rest of the world and the official workshop manuals. If you wanted to be suspicious the situation prior to the change was the time to be, when the UK 'recommendations' were at odds with everything else.
  17. Hello Toot, Thanks for the info and links, Yes the cambelt and water pump were both replaced by my local Skoda dealership in 2018 at 5 years, mileage 32,703 cost £543.00 . Almost 5 years to the day they contacted me again to tell me it was again time to replace the cambelt and water pump. I contacted them to book the car in and thats when they told me of the VAG change of policy regarding replacement interval. I think I will contact Skoda UK directly to find out whats going on. The fact that this is such a huge change and the very costly consequences if the belt should snap makes me very suspicious . Thanks Again
  18. Correct. They’re only at full tilt when you select “Max” on the central dial demist button. Look for “Air Distribution Control” in the owners manual.
  19. What does the failure certificate actually say and under what code? The MOT testers handbook https://www.gov.uk/guidance/mot-inspection-manual-for-private-passenger-and-light-commercial-vehicles/4-lamps-reflectors-and-electrical-equipment#section-4-1-2 gives you the criteria for a pass and a fail.
  20. Thanks for the reply - I ended up taking the plugs off then hoovering/blowing all the debris out from the well they sit in. I then sprayed some PlusGas into the well and put the plugs back on. I can confirm you can in fact spray oil into them with the plugs on as I did that for the following 3 days. All glow plugs now replaced with no dramas. Hopefully good for another 100k!
  21. Next time it manifests strongly if it is safe to do so brake to a halt then switch off the engine all the time keeping the clutch depressed, if it then comes out of gear easily your problem is clutch drag, if it doesn't then the problem is the gear selector mechanism. I suspect the latter, you should then reset the gear linkage cables but it sounds to me that the problem is internal with the synchro hubs or a baulking selector fork perhaps loose on the selector shaft. I hope that I am wrong.

I was very surprised to learn that there were any NSL country roads left in Surrey, some 26 years ago when the roads were my personal racetrack there was already far too much traffic on them for me to continue to indulge my selfishness, I took to getting up at dawn on Sundays to go for long blats in Surrey and Sussex (I lived on the border) one Sunday I was shocked to find that every one of my favorite roads had had the limits reduced to 40mph, all the signs were new so some guys had been very busy that week. Sussex at that time was unchanged but 40mph limits have pretty much crept in everywhere, even back in the day I could not find any NSL B roads in Surrey, very shocked to find there was one and that there was supposedly a gap in the traffic long enough to overtake 2 vehicles.

I made no mention of speed, in the context of the accident its not relevant, in the context of whether it was a risky overtake then the speed, the visibility and the distances are very relevant, the latter is hard(er) for me to judge from a selective partial video.
  25. Hi welcome to the forum It sounds very much to me that it has gone into limp mode for whatever reason, a diagnostic scan is needed to trace the cause. Was it fine prior to this happening or are there other symptoms before this happened ? .
  26. 1 point
It was a 60mph speed limit and the OP was only doing an indicated 51mph on the dashcam when the Ferrari hit him. Had the Ferrari not sideswiped the OP, I expect the OP would have got up to about 60mph before moving back onto the left side of the single carriageway, about 5 seconds or 150 yards further up the road. The Ferrari doesn't influence my judgement because had it been a Fabia, my judgement would be the same. On 60mph speed limit single carriageways many drivers do choose to drive at 60mph. However, I can see a yellow sign on a photograph dated March 2023 on google maps steetview near the accident spot that says "New 40mph Speed Limit Proposed Here" so that would indicate that the council aren't happy with drivers doing 60mph along that section of road. Maybe it's an accident blackspot. 27. If you have no warning lights on, all is fine. control systems monitor and record possible faults all the time and commit them to memory if it doesn't progress into an actual fault. Do you have adaptive cruise control? if not then the system is just saying its not visible as you don't have it. sound silly but they don't design management systems with the consumer viewing its reports in mind. If the car isn't telling you there's an issue then all is well.

Well it was short lived but I’ve decided not to risk it and was lucky to get a full refund. Back to car shopping … Thanks for all the advice, very kind of you to lend me advice and time : )

It all depends on how well anyone knows that road, having pulled out and seeing what is ahead, you have a split second to decide if its safe to back out of the overtake or to press on. Personally if it was a road I didn't know, I'd be happy sit behind and follow them, but each to their own ideas.

I can understand your frustration in the waiting time and hope you enjoy your new car. I collected my new vrs a few weeks ago and so far it has been faultless so fingers crossed it continues that way
  32. sounds like something is up with ur seat controller module (#36). it is also used to store the memory position for the outside wing mirrors. given both ur seats and wing mirrors r misbehaving intermittently, i'd look at scanning the car to see if any codes come up. using OBDEleven or VCDS. the earlier revisions of the seat controller modules either need to be updated or replaced. mine was replaced a couple of years ago, under warranty. old:- SW: 5Q0 959 760 B ASAM Dataset: EV_SeatMemorDriveSide 002021 ROD: EV_SeatMemorDriveSide_VW37.rod VCID: 3C76BD8CB708A7A2A0-8068 new: SW: 5Q0 959 760 C ASAM Dataset: EV_SeatMemorDriveSide 002022 ROD: EV_SeatMemorDriveSide.rod VCID: 3D273B8C9DFCF793584-8068

Just to throw in some of my own figures, probably as a back-marker. With a 63 plate 1.2 Yeti on 42K miles (an easy life), on 16" wheels thanks to Expatman's pioneering example, my figures for 2022 were 36.9mpg over, unusually. only 3,500 miles. Most of these were over poor local lanes and with only a handful of journeys of 200-plus miles. I'm always happy to see 40+ showing during the rare motorway run (at or around 70 where reasonable) but pure economy can't be a big factor for me personally. Over rather a lot of years driving, under quite different circumstances I've seen the extremes of a 75mpg Trojan and an 18mpg 110 Landie. Perhaps just keep an eye open for deterioriting consumption but do remember that your own driving style, routes, vehicle condition etc are rarely the same as another's. Be happy you're driving a Yeti!
  35. Not to my knowledge - on this range of tsi engines - and I’ve been on here a few years. One or two have had issues from timing belts not being done properly at dealers…
  36. Ok, in case mirror cover is the problem, I'll also add the sequence for that:
  37. Attaching in case it helps... L.E.: Unbelievable!!! (at least for me) The ENTIRE "front door module" as they call it - is a single unit. The Manual says none of the components (4 to 13) are individually replaceable... 🤕
  38. I know this is an old post, and probably not the usual post a newbie would post on, however I have really appreciated seeing some of the numbers on this post... Bought a 2010 1.6TDi Fabia Estate yesterday and took delivery today, just about to hit 150k miles... It's looks to have been well looked after, 2 cam belts done on it, just had a clutch done on it and decent service history on the car... Seeing the numbers people are getting has relieved the feeling I had that I'd make a mistake in buying it, the positivity on here has helped to relieve that.. Thank you
  39. Hi, I had the chance to replace someone who could not go to Le Mans Classic last week-end. I saw the first Skoda Sport (1,2l engine) I had ever seen. It was a MY 1949 : Really amazed by the very simple design of the cooling system : Tank, straight brass/copper (?) pipes, radiator (+ fan), that's it !

At some stage we are all going to have to make the change from our Yeti to another vehicle. It is interesting that almost everyone who has a Yeti is finding it difficult to find a better alternative. The Service manager at the dealer I use said the same - they have many Yeti owners who previously changed their cars at 4-5 year intervals who seem to be holding on to their Yeti’s. I really don’t need a larger car but like the elevated driving position and, well, just the convenience and drive of the Yeti. Only alternative I can see at the moment is the VW T-Cross and am hoping they improve the cabin etc. in the facelift model due later this year. Kia Soul is nice but I am not prepared to go electric at this stage.
  41. One thing that confuses people is that when they download my files they then extract them and then copy or put the extracted folder onto the sd card. THIS WILL NOT WORK. The entertainment system will recognise that there's an update on your sd card but will not see or recognise the files because they are inside a folder on the sd card. This is why it's important to only copy the files named PersonalPOI and metainfo2.txt directly onto the sd card without them being inside a folder. It's also a good idea to make sure the sd card does not contain any other files but it's not a necessity. Sometimes re-downloading the files may be the answer just in case they've become corrupted during the download process.
  42. Here with my new Trinity And after the shocks had a chance to set again
  43. In order to practice, remove the battery from the key and go out to the car. Leave the other key in the house so that the proximity system doesn't pick it up. Maybe unlock the car first to save you time getting out the emergency blade, you know how that works now. When in the car, try and start car by pressing the Start Button - you should now see a message on the screen saying no key detected. Now look at the plastic trim around the steering wheel were an ignition barel would usually be. You should see a Key Symbol etched into the plastic. Very subtle. Hold your key next to that symbol and now press the Start button. Car will start. There is an antenna behind the plastic that creates a magnetic field which powers up an emergency chip inside the key. If the key symbol is not there, have a read of the manual. They may have placed it somewhere else. It varies from car to car.
  44. No fix applied - definitely don’t want it “fixed” given some of the feedback I have heard. My fabia is maintained but a very good local independent garage who are not VAG specialists but do an excellent job. cheers

I look at Yeti prices now and again on Autotrader, and there was one on for £19995 the other day. I know the used market went crazy a year ago, but this shows how in demand low mileage ones are.
  46. Well I contacted my local Skoda dealer - Westlands in Edinburgh. I gave them my cars reg and asked about the timing belt replacement schedule and I got this reply : We do not have any service records for your vehicle as we have never seen this car previously. Petrol vehicles do not require a replacement timing belt. Cool.
