  1. So a little update: EVERYTHING WORKS. Let's start a "Journey Diary - Guide" so that everyone that wants to do it can follow the steps and update. First of all, the previously mega link posted above (here) contains all the files needed. I did everything myself with the help of @Lennart, not diffucult at all, but the responsability is yours alone. Updating from the ancient 0156 is not that difficult, it's just like any other update for the MIB3, but it breaks Navigation System. This is intentional and it's because Skoda changed the license and offers Navigation as a SWaP now. You can check in the Service Menu (long press menu button) that no 00071C00 FEC is installed and in the supported FECs it doesn't even show up as available to install. According to the 2 TPI in the mega folder (one older in English, one recent 2024 in Italian) Navigation is now a SWaP, and since it already was included in the car package when bought you can reactivate it using the codes that Skoda provides to re-enable it. Tool necessary to do the update is any OBDEleven or VCDS or any other tool that can do SVM (Software Version Management), but to re-enable Navigation ODIS-S is needed. ODIS-S is a dealer level software, so you have to rely on a dealer to apply the SWaP or to someone that has ODIS with a valid Geko Online account and the necessary hardware to connect to the car. Just go to the dealer after all the updates, you can bring the activation code or ask them to provide it, is in their ODIS Service Net and can be also obtained from Erwin Portal online. In the first TPI it's stated that the OCU (Online Connectivity Unit) has to be flashed first. Before doing that use any of the tool to go to the 0075 module (the OCU indeed) and in adaptation you need to change the Crash Signal to "via CAN". Once applied format an usb stick to fat32 or exfat and unpack the version 143 of the OCU update named 5WA035284OCU143.zip in that stick. Insert the usb stick in one of the usb-c port and long press the Menu button for 3-5 sec, reboot in Engineering mode to start the update following the TPI instruction. Once applied it will reboot and the infotainment will be working as usual. Using OBDEleven or VCDS or ODIS-S you will see that you have a fault error B201A, it's normal when doing an update via usb without dealership computer, it can be easily fixed by updating SVM using a xor tool that can be found here. It's nothing critical, you just have to tell the MIB3 that the software is new. Now you can proceed to do the actual MIB3 Update: format the usb stick unpack the first sequential package MOI3_EU_SKMQB_R23802P + P26810P + P27800P.7z in the root folder, go in the Service Menu and then press Update. The software will auto check the usb drive and since everythin is signed by Skoda it only applies if the file is the correct. It is almost an 1h job and it will reboot multiple times (5-6 at least), since it's not incremental everytime it has to delete the previous and reflash. After this you will land on SW version 278, MIB3 will work fine except that Navigation wont start. If you go in the Service Menu you will see that the Predictive Navigation FEC 00071C00 is not installed but it will be present in the available tab that was not present before. You can do a SVM fix again. Re-do everything, format the usb stick and unpack MOI3_EU_SKMQB_P30600P_0306.zip, apply again in the Service Menu and wait for it, will probably need 20-25 min. On reboot, do the same with version MOI3_EU_SKMQB_P30800P_0308.zip than you can find here a then again with MOI3_EU_SKMQB_P33000P_0330.zip that will bring you to the latest 0330 version that was released i think Jannuary 2024. Remember that after each upgrade you have to confirm the installation change. Once done you can finally check if everything is working except of the Navigation System. To fix this you have to enable FEC 00071C00, and as said it can be only done by adding your specific activation license code and unlock pin (that work only in your car and vin) and only using ODIS-S Online, so if you go to a dealership to activate it he surely can and already has your data to do so, else just bring the code with you and let them restore it. It can be found in the excel sheet in the mega folder, just search for your vin and you will find it. If you have the necessary tool to use ODIS-S yourself (like i did), connect to your car and perform a FFS (Function Activation), proceed with option 1, enter the 3 values when asked and apply them, it will ask you to login online using Geko (DSS Login) and let ODIS-S check with the servers if the codes entered are valid, after a 20sec wait or so it will be verified and unlocked. Now Navigation will start again! You can check in the Activated FEC and you will see that 00071C00 is enabled and valid. This is not a hack, it's not some sort of dark magic, is just exactly what the dealer does when they perform an update. Since they often wont do it (if aint broke dont fix it) or refuse because "risky" now you know that you can do it by yourself, files are publicly available if one know where to look and how to find them. And since the latest update is not cumulative you cannot apply the latest to a very old version they would charge you a lot of hours to do it.. well actually it is cumulative but it wont apply because security check will not pass so be patience and follow the TPI. Enjoy. R.
  2. My sincere apologies, guys. A more detailed inspection of the photo taken of the old filter shows that although it appeared not to have been changed, it has. Sorry to waste your time. Car maintenance is still a mystery to me, after various disastrous attempts at it. I had checked this out before posting though, and I gather that some manufacturers, possibly including VW, are only recommending filter changes every other service. Seems crazy to me, but what do I know?

  4. Re E10. Just so that there is no internet myth. 'Up to 10% Bio ethanol'. Not all has. 10% E5 up to 5% Bio-Ethanol. not all has the up to amount. There is an updated version of this. 2023.
  5. so it really is just like a goold old British Rail Type 40 loco lol

Joy. I finally sat down with my OBDeleven and turned off lane assist. Life is good.
  7. Eh? The OP asks about wiring and coding, all of which is mentioned in detail in the linked thread. What concern is it of yours anyway?
  8. Had plenty of experience towing livestock trailers in the late 70's with a Ford Granada, it was not a good combination. The Superb is softly sprung and has a tendency to wallow at the back end on uneven country roads. With a heavy trailer you might find it bottoming out and quite difficult to handle on less than level roads. Especially if the nose weight changes as the animal moves about. The towball on a superb may be set low, you need to check it matches your trailer You'd be better off with a more agricultural vehicle like a pickup.

  10. anyone who didnt think EVs were eventually going to get taxed at some point (and also have buying incentives removed because that will also happen) was IMHO smoking crack. Technically its not retrospective. Older EVs are simply having their VED rate raised from £0 to minimum £20. It's no different to VED rates going up for ICE vehicles
  11. They should always change the filter with oil and fit a new sump plug unless you've specifically asked for otherwise. Why do you suspect the oil filter hasn't been changed? Did you mark the old filter? Is your engine the old EA111 camchain 1.2tsi with the oil filter at the top front of the engine or the newer EA211 cambelt engine with the filter down at the bottom front of the sump? Have they given you an invoice detailing all the parts used which should include the filter and sump plug? Have you challenged them?

  14. Good morning to all. Thanks to the archives I have been able to update the software of my Bolero.
  15. Good recount of an American (?) EV owner renting an EV over here from Hertz: It's clear Hertz way of operating is not friendly to EV renting and generally gives a bad experience. Requiring 80% on return and forgetting to provide public charging roaming RFID. The more friendly way is to have destination charging at drop off, require drop off at above 30% and only dash out penalty if the car wasn't plugged in. The car can be geo-fence auto set to 80% to preserve battery health in case it doesn't get rented straight away. The video reminded me to look on Hertz direct. I previously booked an EV for 5 people summer holiday around Faro, Portugal. Multi-provider site returned around £260 for a "standard car", a bit more for similar size hybrid (so don't have to listen to engine drone running air-con). I originally booked an "ID4 or similar" for £330. Looking on Hertz direct, it's £180 for Polestar 2 and £199 for Model 3. Sufficient to say I'm booking the M3 with Hertz on Monday. There's a Tesla supercharger a bit up the road near motorway (I think) junction. Booking any other EV means I'd have to navigate the confusing mess that is Portugal public chargers. The hotel slow charger requires signing up to something in Portuguese and fill in a VAT number.
  16. 148 pages and some of the posts are even about EV,s / BEV,s and are we nearer the truth. It is noted that some posting like in the past days have not even posted about EV.s. Oddish. As to Nit picker. I f the hat fits wear it, and groan at others posts.
  17. I think its called the nit pickers thread
  18. The parts diagram of the interior ventilation system for a non-A/C equipped Citigo of this year does not show a cabin/pollen filter, so I would not expect there to be one.
  19. No that is not for air recirculate. It's the auto start button for city traffic it can be turned on or off.
  20. For a tug I'd actually suggest a Kodiak, but make sure it at least has towbar preparation if not a factory bar. Less serious suggestion would be a Toyota "Technical", preferably with a pedestal mounted Browning 0.50 calibre on the bed.
  21. well decision has been made and a deposit left on this. Decided to get what I was actually looking for (petrol/auto) although I did give serious consideration to diesels etc and yes I know , wrong engine wrong gearbox but.......... She will be getting a completely fresh MOT with any work (if needed) doing done plus a another service (which will be registered with skoda). 1 owner from new with every service done on time and came to Sam direct from Skoda. Speaking of which probably the nicest place I've ever been to see a car. This is just the lodge at the entrance!!! Anyways after being let in through the electric gate pulled up in my GFS Ioniq, Sam introduced himself, gave a brief spiel about his operating model and then popped a trade plate in the car, gave me the keys and a popper for the gate and said to go for a test drive. I have to say that 1.4 feels quite pokey (side note: that confused my GF as she thought I was referring to interior space rather than engine performance!!) Anyways nice clean vcheck report other than a small quirk on the mileage in 2022 which looks to be a keying error
  22. Just as happens pretty much all the time & has been for decades with Automatic cars and people that should maybe no longer be driving even if it is only down to the shops. Many of them can barely park a car and has to drive in forwards and can not reverse out are often in a Hybrid / PHEV now and there are ones in BEV,s.
  23. After having spent my evening looking for possible solutions, I came across an advice from someone doing this sort of stuff in Romania and they suggested the ACC module goes into some sort of coodldown/sleep a few hours after the car shuts down. After some 4 hours of searching I went out again and lo and behold, all errors were gone so I pulled out the vcds and cleared the remaining error codes, took a 10 min drive to test the start stop and acc and they both work perfectly. Ran another full scan after the drive with no new errors anymore 🥰🥰🥰 will write a full post tomorrow to summarize the experience.
  24. After reset to factory settings I just have to login to skoda connect to get user settings etc to download again. Not sure if battery removal will reset car to factory settings and you lose users etc. However my car battery and everything was dead this morning. Got alert from app about alarm around 7am so car battery was so low for 6 hours+ that nothing worked at all (couldn't even unlock) before I got it jump started. Once going again all users and settings were there. So don't think it loses them
  25. 5k a year is very low mileage, it's been used as a shopping trolley, get the compression test done.
  26. Just get a cylinder leak down compression test done, no need to throw thousands at it just at yet. Low mileage cars often have poor piston ring sealing due to lack of use.

  29. Just wanted to say thank you so much for doing such a great job repairing my window module. So glad I found this post, you saved me a pretty penny from buying one on ebay. Thanks again 👍
  30. I think it's more due to rental company not accounting for how EV's work differently and not leveraging it as a benefits. They could advertise 80-30% SoC so one would essentially get 50% free as part of rental. When I had done short journey with rental car on the company, it was a huge hassle to go to petrol station for £5 worth of petrol. Petrol cost is on the company, rental company petrol penalty is on me. Just like dealership sales model, rental companies not adopting will get left behind. Haha, love it! The loudest cars are pretty much always bucket of rust.
  31. To get to your destination before you need to recharge....? 🤔
  32. Check the chain timing by fitting crank and cam locking devices simultaneously.
  33. @wolfsburger coming from its previous owner, enjoy it. Most of the annoying Fabia issues I sorted via a specialist. Have the chassis shot blasted and powered coated and it would be perfect. Unfortunately with ulez and other things going on in my life. Aside from my daily, I owned two cars which were toys (the vrs and an bmw m4) unfortunately with ulez where I live, the Fabia was the one I decided to part ways with. Maybe another lemon yellow low miler if one came up again in the future. Enjoy
  34. ^^^ Exactly the issue at the Capital City of Scotland's Airport. The City of Edinburgh / CPS / BP Pulse rapid chargers @ the Airport Park & Ride have been out of commission since last October. Those returning with a non Tesla hire car discover this, and might then head out to the BP filling station for the 2 chargers there, or along to the BP at Newbridge for the new chargers, then get back to the airport. Non of this can be less than 20 minutes longer than if they had got on the Park & ride as far as travel. Actually can be quicker though as they are Ultra Rapid chargers. 79 pence a kWh instead of 55 pence, bit that is the least of their expenses / worry. It is a farce. An actual scandal.
  35. Lexus 98.3% and Toyota 97.4% reliability index according to Whatcar 2023 survey. Lexus has topped the chart for several years. Seems a good bet to me. In comparison Skoda achieved 91.4% .
  36. They’re retrospectively taxing EVs at the standard rate for anything post 2017
  37. Just an update, i swapped out the buttons for 5E0919719f off a yeti/superb and walla.....it all works
  38. Thanks, clear for me now. Mine is a model year 2023 version, so probably it will be good.
  39. Why not use the free road sign recognition system? Your 👀. Saves money.
  40. I wouldn't worry too much about spark plugs right now, they have no bearing on the oil consumption issue we're discussing. Some people will post what they know rather than what you want to know whether it helps or not. Get the test done then post back with results, my sense is that you have bore glaze.
  41. HI @nta16, I have not done anything yet, I am still to talk to local garage mechanic but did not have time to pop in. I am also still deciding if I should go with it, I have watched a few videos saying that B6 gives much firmer ride, which is good for Golf GTI but I don't know how I will like it. I understand it can be firmer but more comfortable if you go faster. Basically, I do not know yet what to do. As a small project I want to do it, especially it looks like I am keeping the car for another 2-2.5 years, as used prices for Karoq are very very low so I can't trade it in without much financial loss. I am still looking at Superb 2.0 petrol though, don't know why but I like that car a lot! I will definitely update you all if I decide to go with the change.
  42. I suspect they'd write-off the V6 at the drop of a hat, if you ever needed to make a claim. But that said, that IS pretty reasonable insurance.
  43. @Sque4ler Mine does exactly as the video. No problem with the turning. But i would say that, if youre mostly in highway and doing long trips it is worth the money, but if its just for the feature, forget it.
  44. yes , euro 6 diesel engines will regen at idle and the old way of taking the car for a blast up the motorway like you did in the past is not necessary and in most cases a waste of time. if the car is not ready to regen, then you cant force it to regen by going for a run at speed.
  45. The average driver just is not capable of handling them safely, just like guns. You have the money, you can walk into a car showroom slap your money on the desk and drive away behind the wheel of a lethal killing machine. My 2 litre diesel 150hp car has all the squirt of power you would need to jump out of blind spots, not that you should be applying power in blind spots, because as the name implies, it's a blind spot and so are you at that moment, and you could be hurtling into a massive crash
  46. Recent threads are some people having problems again with the 1.5tsi, so the 1.0tsi might be a safer bet anyway. Whether it will "cope" depends on your expectations. Of course it will go up and down hills with a full load. Just may take a little bit more planning to overtake going uphill with a load on board. You'll soon adapt.
  47. Over here in Ireland, Skoda are giving HVO vouchers up to €500 value when a new diesel Skoda is purchased (https://www.skoda.ie/discover-skoda/hvo). Its more or less the same price as B9 diesel here but its still not widely available. It is an attractive option, given the immediate CO2 benefits as well as reducing fossil fuel dependency but it really only has environmental benefits if its fully traceable and can be proven to have no links to deforestation associated with palm oil. Crown Oil in the UK and Neste in the Netherlands have documented and certified their sources. As to the OP's question, my 2021 MY Superb regenerates the DPF every 275 to 340km. I've used the DPF Monitor app to look more closely at this and can see that it can regenerate the DPF at idle and will resume an interrupted regeneration within a few minutes of a cold start. No need for motorway runs to help regenerate the DPF although I suspect that it would be quicker and use less fuel to regenerate at a constant higher speed.
  48. Oh, I'm sure they were pre-reg to hit targets. Thinking about it, most people will be happy with the fwd version so the market for them is quite small, hence they hang around a while. I am warming to the L&K version which gives me (slightly) more options. A localish dealer has one in grey which I'll probably go and test drive. Alternatively its a trip to Newbury for a Sportline+. I'm in no hurry to buy so am happy to wait for the right car to come up.
  49. In Boston a few years ago I booked a Ford Focus and got ......... a BMW X5!
  50. It's strange how the tax works now. Best year appears to be 2016, ULEZ compliant euro 6 with £0 VED https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202401035217639?sort=relevance&advertising-location=at_cars&co2-emissions-cars=TO_100&make=SKODA&model=Octavia&postcode=m456dj&year-from=2016&year-to=2016&fromsra
