  1. I took this in 2016 on an old Galaxy S6 phone, t'was in Brazil (work not pleasure)
  2. Well I knew the Zoe, latest ZE50 version, was a queen of the long range small EVs but Gott im himmel, or should I say Sacre Bleu or the like, just got back from driving from Worcester to Liverpool, work in Liverpool this morning and drive back this afternoon in the little EV and guess how many time I charged up on route ? Answer below V V V Drum roll.... V V V V V V Not once !! Google say 240 miles, Zoe thought it was only 233 miles. And was I in turtle mode at the end of the journey ? No still had 25 miles showing in the miles of range left guessommeter, which seems quite accurate on the Zoe (better than Nissan according to Modern Hero is his high mileage Nissan van). I am blown away just how good the Zoe is on distance. I thought Worcester to Manchester airport and return was about it and not Liverpool which is about another 40 miles further. Even 233 miles plus 23 is impressive but really it is 240 miles plus 25 miles ie 265 miles range. Good conditions ie started with ambient temp fo 12C and it was 18C on return. I am thinking that maybe 300 miles is going to be possible in the Scenic 60 kWh if I can get over 260 in the Zoe. Wowser. Oh and will be claiming mileage at 45p per mile tax relief of course. Cost of energy for this journey 52 kWh at 8.5 pence per KWh from Octopus on new 5 hours per night Go tariff.............. about £4.40 !!!!!!!! Even my son's etech Clio would have used the best part of £24 of petrol. Even using my fuel card on the Arkana it would have cost me of £10 on the BIK on 4 gallons of petrol !! Not even close on fuel costs even with best tax advantages !
  3. Clumber Park was lovely last night......
  4. But it also means that until a credible alternative is in place for those without a guaranteed home charging place a two-tier system of "have access to home charging" and "don't have access to home charging" is being created. Given the costs of public charging are currently much higher than home charging this will place yet another burden on hard stretched family finances of owning an EV, and hence will further limit the potential for EV sales and ownership. This problem must be solved, not ignored!

  6. I have been doing a little upgrade shopping from Kopacek (the site formerly known as Superskoda). Not much that needs upgrading on a Superb III to be honest, but a few bits I’ve been able to improve, and one purchase that turned out to be unusable: - Lid funnel for the washer bottle (have done this upgrade on both the Fabia IIs in the family and my old Spaceback - it’s such a good idea it’s a no-brainer). - Mega LED lights for the boot - these are a complete sealed body replacement for the boot lights (left and right sides of the boot) with much more powerful LEDs. Makes a massive difference. I did the same update in my Spaceback, which also suffered from a boot light with poor light output. - Black plastic boot lip protector. Sticks onto the top of the rear bumper and takes the hit if you catch the bumper putting anything in or out of the boot - Tablet Smart Holder - so now anyone sat in the back can mount their tablet using the Smart Holder attached to the rear armrest - Superb branded chrome keyfob tips (did both keys) The one mistake Inmade was ordering enhanced reflector/puddle lights for the front doors, only to discover the ones on my car are just reflectors and there’s no wiring there. Oh well, never mind. To do: - Uprated LED puddle lights for the underside of the front mirrors (now more important given the door reflectors can’t be upgraded) - Genuine Skoda roof bars More pics to follow.
  7. Good news for people wanting a channel for a cable in Bolton. "While installation of this kind would normally require home owners to pay for a £565 street works permit, Bolton Council is waiving the fee for a temporary trial basis. The council said they must be notified of any installation and is urging those wishing to install cabling to use reputable contractors only." https://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/news/24487452.bolton-council-waive-fee-encourage-electric-cars/

If the new battery was pretty well charged then the BMS won't need to charge at the higher voltage to charge to battery to it's target of 80% SoC.
  9. 3 points
Definitely check the battery voltage BEFORE starting up in the morning and (if possible) get a battery CCA test done.
  10. Thanks PP much appreciated.👍 A few from a wander around the walled garden at Floors Castle.
  11. Glorious again this evening...........
  12. The other points you raised, I'm not wasting my time responding because it will drag on again. However, on the above point, there is always a risk, I should know that better than you, have worked on the technical side of things with large electrical manufacturing companies making safety devices, they can and do fail, and it is perfectly feasible and possible to fail in an unsafe mode.
  13. And they're a lot cheaper than £517. Get the belt changed as well.

I didn't have access to a battery tester so decided to errr on the side of caution and fit a new agm battery ( slightly higher CCA and higher overall ampage than to 10 year old one. I coded the new battery went for a quick drive to set steering and tire pressure warnings ect and checked the charging voltage using the obd11 app and it was charging at 13.4 not the 14.6 to 8 that the old battery was charging at. Fingers crossed it has done the trick will update if it gets me to work OK
  15. ^^^^ Maybe read more and you will see the stuff that is repeated. Maybe it is only those really interested in EV,s that see these stories.
  16. So, if I should draw a conclusion from this thread then it would be to let your Skoda dealer do the necessary upgrades unless you want to risk ending up with a car with greater problems than the ones you want to solve. I hate to say this because I agree with those who say that Skoda should finish the job and deliver a flawless software instead of charging their customers for the shortcomings of Skoda´s software. In my world, a chargeable software is one that will provide you with new functions and benefits. It's a disgusting policy to charge for an upgrade that will only repair faults found in earlier versions of the software.
  17. An ailing battery will cause a variety of electronic gremlins such as those described, so a good place to start. I've had the same occur with two other cars of different brands, it's not just a Skoda thing.
  18. & millions of homes in the UK are not at ground level. Flats and apartments even just 1st floor or high-rise properties. That how things are though is it not? Home charging of Electrified vehicles is not an option for many more than 'Official Statistics' appear to show but then local authorities do not seem to know how many people stay in their region so why should the Government or the Office for National Statistics.
  19. New Lamps looking nice Taking it out for runs, fairly good so far. Very smokey. Boost wont come on until 3000, only wants to make .5 bar according to my gauge. Double checked lines to vac box and all seem ok. But starting, stopping, steering and changing gears. Having a problem with the oil pressure sensor, comes on after 2000 rpm, Didn't do it in the vrs, and changed the sensor for an identical one off the old ASY Lump, so presume wire. Since it's a simple tap into the oil cooler I don't see why I shouldn't fit a gauge of my own there too with a fitting, to be sure. Wiring around the coolant temp sensor into the rad is rotten and the plug for it basically pulled off, looks fixed before. Can grab some loom from the SDI loom and make new. Wiring for the fans is hooked up, as is the bonnet catch (can't remember if that's ever worked on the vrs) Gave it a lube service, genuine filter of course. Fresh fuel, air and Pollen done previous and no miles so no point changing them. Used an oil flush and coolant flush, no harm in it. Oil was black but fine, coolant (water) was very slightly mucky. Filled up with G12 now. Oh, New Ball Joints and Track rod ends on it too. Lemforder units. Abs Fault in it seems to be a sensor and map sensor fault also.
  20. which is nice except: a) you don't (generally) have a legal right to park on the road outside your house. b) the road outside your house may have parking restrictions (eg yellow lines) c) your house may not have direct road access within a reasonable distance of your property boundary (ie a pavements width) an example of C is my GFs daughter house which is 38m from the road to the property boundary and they have to park anywhere between the 2 red lines(on a good day, could be further on a bad day)
  21. Pagid might be exactly the same brake pads as the other TMD Friction brands, such as Hella, Textar, Mintex, etc. Notice in the example below (which are Kodiaq MK1 rear brake pads) that all these rear brake pads are labelled 25009 and 25011 which are presumably the internal codes. So it appears that ECP hasn't been given anything unique to sell by being given exclusive rights to sell Pagid brake pads in the UK (if ECP has been given exclusive rights to sell Pagid brake pads in the UK). Notice in the photos below, that the Hella rear brake pads are also labelled Pagid. 22. I have this on my Octavia and Superb: https://www.amazon.de/portal/customer-reviews/media-gallery/ref=cm_cr_dp_mb_crsl_img_sm?ie=UTF8&asin=B097YSVM59&mediaType=image If you look in the reviews with images you can see my Dragon skin Superb with the carbon look vinyl cover... They are great for light use, loading shopping, pets, light DIY items etc. If you were to drag a heavy furniture over it, then it will likely scratch or tear. You can see from the photo the thickness of the strip. I considered the official aluminium protector strip but that is more than 5x the price so I decided to try this first. I've no complaints so far
  23. Grabbed some pics of the boot this evening with the new updated interior lights in place. A massive improvement.
  24. @TommyFlash It is 5 years since @DaveBrez signed in but it would be good to know if the paint stayed on ok. It is just simply clever to sand / key what ever you get and then a little light primer done and even sand that, then colour.

No getting nothing on screen at all no sound or beebs when in reverse but every think is working about from that.but now its locking the unit up can't turn it off or on gives flashing then black screen but still have sound when pressing any button it's fronze lad say might be the unit so have to wait until Tuesday till he gets vag computer
  26. Not sure of the legality of this, but you could use a GPS app on your phone to show speed. Or even a nav app like Waze, which shows the speed. I find myself glancing at that now and ignoring the car's speedo.
  27. I take exception to you quoting me and talk about lack of evidence despite evidence was clearly provided in the earlier post. Therefore I've reported your comment for "Spam, posting without comprehension". And I'll no longer respond to you on this matter, as you said, otherwise it will drag on and on. Ok, if you knew so much surely you can name all the residential earthing schemes and when/why we need O-PEN protection. Also how O-PEN protections fail and I'm particularly interested to learn exactly how they "fail in an unsafe mode". “The more I learn, the more I realize how much I don't know.” Put it another way, when you know you have surface level understanding, it is best to shut up. I'm always very happy to learn. I've learnt enough to made decisions for my home installations, but would be glad to learn more from you, by the way you post. But remember, credible sources only. Ideally referencing BS 7671.
  28. Yes it does. I can see it in vagdpf, fans turn off and stop start re enables.

Not sure what would be best place to insert two videos related to 280 exhaust sound. I have done resonator delete modification and I can clearly hear more deeper noise from exhaust from 2750rpm to maybe 4000rpm inside of the car. I will check in following month if it is annoying or not for long distance traveling. 2750rpm is around 120km/h. Further modifications I have are Milltek 200 cell HJS Downpipe and Do88 Intercooler with Stage 1 tune, intake elbow and silicone hose. So higher turbo pressure is present and you can hear it during launch and also audible farts on manual upshift in S on flyby. Hope these videos will help somebody to decide if this mode is for them or not as I could not found some some good ones on YouTube. Most of them have modification of backboxes too or downpipe without cat. 200 Cell Downpipe adds little to nothing to the sound by itself. Took ours in today for the dealers 3rd look at the suspension knock and they said they'd also be doing a recall. I asked what for and they said "just an update to a control module" in a 'go away and stop asking awkward questions' way Pressed a bit more and they said exactly as above - it's to do with the keys being locked in the car. It did seem to throw a bit of a wobbly recently - I changed the key battery and then a few days later it was randomly saying the key battery was low (I know the keys with the thinner CR2025 can be iffy with the battery, but the newer CR2032 keys are better. The car was also saying the drivers door was open when it wasn't but other doors were open. I messed around with the key and locking for a bit and it's been fine since.
  31. No, enfin yes if you go to the main stealer, the pulley assemblies alone are available on the aftermarket.

More likely the 10 year old battery...
  33. I don't have it on the boot lip (I've just bought a black plastic one for my Superb III hatch) but I have the same plastic film on the lower bodywork edge between the rear wheels and the back doors - it's pretty much invisible and hard wearing (was a factory fit to protect from stone chips and road grime I believe). I went with the black plastic trim for the bumper lip as it seems they only do the film for the estate now.
  34. When ZapMap spoke about 600,000 EV,s in the UK they said how many EV owners could charge at home. Over 1 million now registered. Then Fleet News had an article the Zenith did a Survey and 86% with an EV could charge at home. *Never trust Surveys IMO.* Well many many many EV,s have not an owner with a Home with space for the EV,s. Many many Fleets are Councils, NHS etc. So is it drivers of EV,s that are talking about. So the early adopters over the past 10 years of EV driving have a high number that supposedly have Off street parking. Is it yet again This Country, as in England, or this UK nations? The 1 million EV,s has to become 10 times that or more, maybe 20 times more. A google shows something like 30 million Dwellings in the UK.
  35. Please to add number in Title : 8Y0035465A Please to know that this amp in my opinion is not so powerful as the MIB 2 AMP. In other words VW is taking more money from us for not even close power. I know that these transistors are more powerful than MIB 2, but their Efficiency is getting low very fast! The thermal protection lowers the power output, and because there is no fan - temperatures are fastly exceeding +70 Celsius. Except that. I changed the stock subwoofer rated 2 x 100 W 4ohm and putted 70W single coil speaker/thinking that will be burned out from the amp/, and nothing happened. it is not even close ... Will keep you in touch. If someone wants can copy this thread to other forums so the info get to more people! I get this on my superb and just ignore it. As long as the green light in the ceiling is on its working(and anyways its not essential, doesn't connect you directly to emergency services but to a Skoda call handling centre from what I can work out) . The error is(or appears to me to be) just a transient start up issue. NB sometimes it will pop up the orange triangle of impending doom (in which case I do after a few occurrences reset the Diagnostic codes) , other times it doesn't.
  37. my Superb MY17 hatch has full covers on both sides. the left side has a canton sub-woofer sitting in there. the right side has a big storage area where i keep all the boot nets, first aid kit and a toolkit.

Err...no, that's not what was asked. Check the battery voltage and do a CCA EN test to check whether the battery is failing on you. Anything below 20% of the CCA EN value of the battery...it's failing and needs replacing.
  40. Love the shadows giving it extra wings
  41. Not sure if it's related but I had something similar happen to mine. I had it booked with a month delay to be seen and it repeatedly started to occur. The error message for me was "protective occupant system failed" with an airbag graphic on the infotainment when looking at the error there, along with auto hold errors, front assist etc. A couple of days before I went in, it turned out my battery was failing and it got replaced under warranty. I haven't seen a single error for around 4-5 months now.
  42. MY = Model Year Your Nov 2020 is probably MY2021 but it really depends on when it was built. I believe the changeover is July(ish) for the next MY.

^^^^ and check battery terminal connections.
  44. One way roller ramp bearing is foutu.
  45. There are some lovely automatics about. 8 speed auto or manual change, 6 speed in sport and manual change. BMW etc. Some lovely 2 pedal EV,s. Paddles for Regen so just as with an auto and reducing speed and not braking but getting on in control. As to one pedal driving, that does not mean just driving easy in town, but it can be, but it can be driving in a spirited manner. It is all about choices and not all EV,s are the same obviously but they are pretty much 2 pedal cars. Maybe not for New Drivers passing their driving test in them having a Restricted Automatic Only licence. PS Edit. Lots of dreamers around that think they are driving gods in the UK with a 60 mph NSL just because they need the left foot to use a clutch when changing gear.
  46. Update - received an email from the dealer confirming that they will reimburse me when I get the bonnet resprayed. Likely to be 8-10 weeks before they have availability but happy waiting.
  47. For the record the new battery has solved the problem…..
