  1. Hello from Latvia! I also bought a Škoda Superb L&K 2.0TSI 4x4 (delivered in May 2024). Everything was fine until October 2024 (I drove around 5000 km at that point). I got 7 warnings related to the front camera for assistance systems and after a few days also a low 12V battery warning popped up. I gave the car back to the dealer for checkup - same story - need to wait for a software update, no one knows when it will happen. One week after the checkup I got the same errors again.. I manually re-connected fuse 22 and everything "started to work again". The Electrician at Škoda dealer also told me to regularly charge the 12V battery (I usually do short trips so kind'a makes sense..) so I listened to him and charged it a few times... and.. magic.. I haven't encountered this issue again. Of course this is complete nonsense "solution" from Škoda, but at least I can enjoy my car.. as besides these problems - I still love it!
  2. This afternoon.............
  3. @Bertie90 If you are really keen then offer to pay to have the MOT carried out again at another test centre before buying.

  5. Back to Skoda from Seat and what a difference between 5F Leon and "new" Octavia. 😍
  6. 2 points
Hello all, Life has been a bit up/down recently and our circumstances changed, so a replacement car was purchased for our previous 2020 Golf MK7.5. My husband Chris decided that he wanted another MK3 Octavia, so we hit the classifieds and eventually found what looked like a clean MK3 2015 Elegance TDI 2.0 4x4. It's in Blue Pacific (quite a rare colour) and has covered 118000 miles (that's the TDI just worn in by my books). It's been given the name Blu. I won't go into the purchasing experience...let's just say that a lot of these MK3's are now in the backstreet sellers lots and these sellers are quite an unscrupulous bunch. This one was located in Leeds, so we took a 4hr trip to go see it. It's a good car....tyres a little worn, but everything else is rock solid. Having stood in the backstreets of northern Leeds for many weeks/months, it then did a 200 mile trip back home and didn't miss a beat. My husband is thrilled to bits with it as it will be used as a project car as well as a reliable everyday workhorse. We will do the servicing on it, get new rubber on it and gradually improve it over the coming months / years. So far.... we've had to change out the battery - the factory OE battery having died at 53% capacity. The only problem I've got (all other fault cleared post battery change) is the High Beam Assist. Described at We have the dreaded b1168f2 fault - Control Module Faulty. Getting to it is the easy part (behind the mirror) but it's the module itself. Seems it's quite a known weakness/failure point on this generation of VAG cars (i.e.similar faults exist on Golf's, Leon's and Passats of this age). Lots of talk of the replacement modules (even brand new ones from Skoda) going faulty, so there is a problem with the electronics of the module. As I hate running cars with fault codes in them, I would really value everyone's views on how to fix this module (for good) and ideally a fix of the existing module would be fabulous.
  7. It would have been helpful to mention asking price in OP. Still too much for a repaired cat S IMO, my very low miles, non-cat MY16 Octavia is supposedly worth less than £8k
  8. Walk away VERY quickly!
  9. You locked your wife in the car, how is that a software bug or skoda’s issue? Most if not all modern cars have deadlocks so if you lock it with the remote it cannot be unlocked from the inside, that’s the whole point.
  10. And it has to be said that is actually clever, and so easy to do - allowing access to tools without having to empty the boot,
  11. @Ooopnorth I looked into my boot today. This was a factory build option, but I bought it 6 months old from a Skoda dealer, it was an ex-Skoda UK employee car. The net set were in an unopened plastic bag, tools as previous post; Jack, wheel wrench, plastic tweezers and P shaped wire tool to remove something (porbably towing eye covers). There was no towing eye or screw driver - I probably should have checked my carefully on handover before I drove away - water under bridge now. I have been able to store away quite a few extra items. I only discovered this today ! the plastic baffles with Velcro to hold stuff in place in the boot have molded stowage spaces. Towing eye from Ebay and screwdriver that I already had for some reason stowed in the molded spaces. I suspect some of the other molded spaces are for a 12v pump and bottle of trye sealing 'goo;.
  12. Thanks, to you both. I've learned a lot, especially not to play fast and loose with the part numbers 😆, and saved a few quid from buying dealer parts. It's so strange that the front suspension is widely available whereas the rear is definitely not! Perhaps some parts are not worth the investment because they're made in such small numbers for aftermarket brands. Once again, thanks for your all your effort!

For best performance and battery longlivety, battery changes should be "coded" to the car with a diagnostic tool. Do you know if this was done? 6 months is quite short time to get new battery roasted due to not coding, but possible. Also as mentioned above, better to check the battery. With modern **** 6 month old batteries failing is not that rare. Shud get new with warranty tho. U shud be able to roughly check battery condition with 20 €/£/$ multimeter. Otherwise u shud be good to just drive the car and enjoy the car without start-stop Besides battery problems, fault codes via diagnostic tool shud point towards the reason..

    Didn't fail, just couldn't see 😀
  15. Haha. I do find a full setting blast initially helps with (p)leather seats on both cars. The big blue one has auto setting, and slowly dials back bum heat until cabin reaching temperature, perfect. Tyres are everything. I don't get why UK doesn't switch to only fit all-season tyres on cars now. There's new Hankook ion all-season for EV's I see people fitting on their MY on UK Tesla forum. Seems to fit better than CC2 on Tesla wheels, slightly less stretched look and a bit more rim protection.
  16. Skodas in Israel have a two year warranty and if you add extra money you get a 3 year . no manufacturer offers 3 years anyway not even Subaru which used to offer 5 years . i got a family discount there for I have a 3 years, the average costumer will get a 2 years .
  17. Let's remember that with a BEV just as with an ICE that before going how ever far and where you fill up in winter you prep the vehicles. Check the Tyres, the pressures, the wipers, the screen wash level and strength, prep the door and hatch seals for winter conditions, and generally be sure the vehicle is winter ready. The tools / spare wheel, or if no spare your emergency kit, or recovery / emergency breakdown cover. With an EV are you carrying charging cables, AC & 3 pin, just incase. Hi-viz vests, maybe food / drinks, warm clothing, blankets etc. If you are not really going out of town and can walk home or get on a bus then maybe just stick to the car being suitable to be getting in... TESLA Drivers & others, **Do not lose your mobile phone, or have it stolen or run out of charge. ** Carry a Battery Bank for the Mobile Charging for when you do get stuck for days in the snow and you have no way of charging the car or the phone. Unless you walk a bit to local habitation where they have no electricity either because the named storm caused black outs.
  18. Both headlights should be the same height so number 2 is correct - assuming that the headlights are at the right height which is impossible to tell from a picture Much like these images:
  19. So after having a few bits kicking around for long enough, that I'd ordered online. I finally found the time to give the car a bit of love. Debadged and added some cleaner looking Skoda emblems front and back. New gloss mirror caps due to a few chips and fitted the smoked, Audi style repeaters. Finished off with new numberplates, going for a Lamborghini style on the rear just cos I thought it matched the boot angles nicely. Gloss black roof wrap, smoked rear light units and front fogs courtesy of The Wrap Pod in Featherstone West Yorks. Then an amazing job done by Aaron at Aztec Valeting & Detailing in Altofts West Yorks, with interior valet & single stage paint correction and machine polish and ceramic coating. Due to a mix up, gonna have it back in with him in a couple weeks time for calipers repainting and all 4 wheels refurbed. I know the colour is a bit Marmite, but I love it! Definitely feel the detailing was money well spent
  20. He said he buys and sells only yeties privately
  21. @Choclab I hear you - the rattling is intermittent for us but we can see that the instrument cluster isn’t tightly fitted on the right hand side, I’ll see how we get on…
  22. SORRY I POSTED IN WRONG PLACE OBVIOUSLY , FIRST TIME EVER USING ONE OF THESE FORUMS DIDNT REALISE IT WAS IN WRONG SECTION ,
  23. REALLY SORRY COULD BE MY SON POSTED I DIDNT REALISE HE WAS ON HERE, I FOLLOWED HIM TODAY AND IT IS DEFIANTLY 20 ISH MPH . IM NEW THE THIS FORUM THING . SORRY IF I HAVE POSTED IT WRONG .
  24. Looks like it has a sunroof, so after a shunt like that I guess it's even more likely to leak?
  25. If you have the 3 button key fob, pressing the middle button unlocks trunk/boot without unfolding the mirrors.
  26. Good question. My first clutch job was on Jen's Fabia, between Christmas and New Year six or seven years back. Had a very low roofed open-ended garage to work in, with a flimsy tent bit across the front to keep the snow off cos the front of the car had to be outside a bit to have enough height. So much fun... 😆

    Very disappointing. Is it 0w 30 FS IV oil used to VW504 00 / 507 00 III rather than the VW508 00 / 509 00, so 0w 20 FS IV

No topped up when warning light appeared.... first time I thought ok.... low level at dealership... second time I went straight to dealership and pointed this oil usage reference in the owners manual... its a 2.0 litre diesel the VRS model.... don't mind telling you I'm astonished....
  29. Someone here will tell you if a 2021 vRS 245 has a VAQ diff. I am pretty sure it has. Those selling them should know.
  30. Not serviced to Manufacturers Recommendations if it has a VAQ Diff (Front) So they want to be getting that done.
  31. 1 point
Yes Ootohere - no drama when it happened, I think there was a ping & the car began to gradually slow down. so failed safe. Last Tuesday roads weren't slippery, so my foot soon got car back up to 70mph. sussamb - I think the message that came up did say sensor failure, but I suppose that is a bit misleading. In fact the message did actually make me do a double take when it first happened... did it mean a trip to the garage, or even car is 5.5yrs old and electronics beginning to get unreliable... so time for a new car... should I go EV... etc. etc. until I thought things through. While wafting along the motorway, you have time to chew these things over in your mind.
  32. Welcome. Have the Sales Executive show you in writing that the 2 year warranty covers the DQ381 7 speed wet clutch DSG, that is the DSG against failures and unlimited cover be it the MCU / Mechatronic Control unit or the clutches or anything. The VAQ front diff servicing is supposedly now at 2 years / 20,000 & no longer 3 years / 30,000 miles, so has that been done? Has the brake fluid been changed? ? Are they advertising with FMDSH or FSH yet not Serviced to the Manufacturers Recommendations, Guidelines, Advice, Spec or Schedule, yet extending the warranty?
  33. And service done with 32.837 km (4 years). With proper tools, it's not a complex operation ... besides the filter replacement ! Now I understand why it's not a requirement from the maintenance manual. You cannot remove it without making a mess, no matter the effort you put to cover the area, oil will spill everywhere ! so reserve a bit of time to clean thoroughly.
  34. Looking like another quarter, Q1 2025, of cheap charging for the EVs hopefully if night rates follow these day rates figures ........... Need to look at using my electric immersion heater more rather than using the gas boiler to heat water, especially between 0030 and 0530 when lecky on cheaper tariff. 35. ^^^. The EV,s i see in the main are on tyres totally hopeless for snow or ice and even to get into charger bays. I expect mayhem on the A9 and in the region of with Storm Bert coming in tonight / tomorrow. There will be many out ignoring any warning in cars totally inappropriate and on tyres inappropriate even if the roads / snow gates stay open. Likely they will be open until the first vehicles / drivers can not cope. Then once help comes shifting / clearing them is the issue. Luckily not forecast lasting long.
  36. BMW/Mini system is a bit of a PITA. There are reminders you can clear yourself (MOT), alerts you can clear with an ODB reader and some stuff that you need to go to them for. I had to pay the robbing barstewards £175 to clear a sensor alert caused by going through some heavy rain.
  37. The following work is what Skoda's UK website advises should be carried out as part of an Oil and Inspection service.
  38. Yesterday my efficiency at -3*oC in the MINI, 55 miles into Dundee & back was the same as the day before at 1*oC and last week at 7*oC and as in the summer. 3.3 miles kWh going in and 3.6 kWh coming back, without AC on and heating set at 17*oC. Driving a bit easier because ice, un-gritted. Except when the Yaris was up my arse and then past. But realised a GR Yaris and somehow Icy corners were not a worry, or staying on his side of the road. Started with 106 miles range, got back after 55 miles with 60% range and showing 58 miles. Fully charged now and showing 104 miles. 00.00 am - 7am offpeak, 7 hours charging 3 pin, 16 kWh @ 6.7 pence cost £1.14. Minus 3 - minus 4 overnight and minus 2 now. PS Lots of EV reviewers / Blogger / Vloggers go on about heated seat up full. They must have asbestos underpants, i can not have any car heated seat more than at the lowest heat if staying on even in the coldest weather, if i put them on full before getting in or get in my arse can not stand the heat. When on low and hot i might put the heat off for the rest of the trip or until i think lets heat my back...

Can’t help with the fault, but that’s a good looking Mk3 👍 Gaz
  40. I too had the problem of the infotainment constantly restarting, then on Wednesday afternoon the SOS call anomaly light came on and the infotainment no longer works, it is constantly "loading settings" Yesterday I called the Skoda toll-free number, they gave me the telephone number of the Care connect center in the Czech Republic, the girl who answered me connected to my profile and magically everything was unlocked. it made me do a hard reset, then I logged in again, when I restarted everything seems to be fine, for now it doesn't even restart the infotainment which used to be very frequent!! We'll see on the first rather long trip if everything is okay The girl at Care Connect told me that she still saw some anomalies and to take it to a Skoda center to have it checked and the software updated.
  41. I regally see another 5 to me locally, according to the how many left website, the numbers are of course dropping year-on-year but not dramatically although the numbers on the roads wasn't very high in the first place.
  42. Car makers should stick to advertising what they are known for.
  43. Looks much greener in natural light, nice
  44. 1) I'd have bought a different car. 2) I'd talk to a tuner about a sympathetic stage 1 tune and do nowt else unless you're absolutely rolling in cash, in which case see point 1).

First month stats from the car 358mile @ 3.1m/kwh = 115 kw? x 24p = £27.60 although my meter readings suggest we have only used 72kw more than this period last year = £17.28 My Mondeo averaged 35 mpg = 10.22gallon or 45.99litres @ £1.327 = £61.02 Long term guessometer now reset.
  46. As in a pic? Not much to say about it, appearance-wise. "It's a car, in a boring colour" 😁
  47. No Google service, nor my browser, on my phone has access to the location; and no, I don't use Google Maps or Waze for navigation. But this is way off the topic of virtual cockpits...
