  1. I really cannot believe that 98% of charging is done at home, that figure is just not believable, what about all the fleet charging and big companies buy EV cars for the sales reps who have to cover large areas and drive large distances. Those figures are pure BS designed to fit the narrative but at the same also managing to defeat their goal by convincing those unable to charge at home to stay with ICE, so an own goal there for sure. I'm not convinced that fitting a commando 16A socket is acceptable within the UK wiring regulations for domestic dwelling as the sockets do not comply with the requirement of having the shuttering of the socket tubes to prevent the accidental insertion of anything and thus making direct contact with live parts, particularly children poking thinks there.
  2. It would also make sense to reduce the a/c charging rate to 2kw in the car settings. Taking it below 9amp Continuous 13amp on a norrmal household socket is not recommended.
  3. It's a LHD/RHD thing, manuals, stickers etc lazily not tailored to the specific market the car was built for.
  4. £900 to take photographs of something that they have already been paid £1000 to allegedly inspect with their eyes says it all (emoticons not working but am expressing sad one) Its the VAG modus operundi get the customer to keep jumping through stupidly priced hoops before ultimately refusing the claim in any case.
  5. Well VW group may be, but that's the RRP, so the dealership isn't.
  6. 95% of EV drivers isn't very meaningful as it doesn't tell how many would be EV drivers there are who do NOT have access to off-road charging.
  7. Believe no Government surveys because it is who responds. Probably Home Workers responding very many times. Just like with Car Reliability surveys . Filled in by Dealership staff with no cars to sell. dft-ev-driver-survey-summary-report.pdf
  8. I haven't got a decent obd reader so this may get thrown at a garage to do. I'm too old and knackered too sit outside in the winter doing brakes anyway.
  9. I'd like to share a bit of information as I've had 1 of the new superbs with similar issues, after the software update was carried out the vehicle was still getting multiple errors, one thing you can check is under the drivers footwell, remove the rear cover and check the positiong of the wiring loom, on the vehicle I had the wiring loom was rubbing on the steering joint and had caused damage to the wires after repairing these wires the vehicle drove as normal with no issues, if this isn't the case, unfortunately I have no other ideas as to what the issue could be.
  10. CTEK have been my choice for the past 20 years. One died after six years or so but my batteries have been kept in good shape (or maybe I got lucky). Anything approaching 12V on a quick and dirty measure gets the top-up. Can't comment on the NOCO one.
  11. I’ve had the tyre repair in aerosol form for too long and I want to get an actual spare wheel. if I get a 16” steel wheel with a 16/55/205 tyre on, will it fit in the boot under the floor or must I get a space saver version? I know what I’d prefer but I need wisdom. Please help!
  12. Don't get me wrong I totally agree with what both of you are saying and agree some jobs do require driving with a boot full of kit etc. I was actually pointing out that jobs that some posters here do would often, in a 'normal' company, be required to be done differently and not by driving for hours and hours of unproductive time in a Renault EV driving to and from locations that are well served by PT and not in the middle of nowhere. Apologies to others but a certain poster lives in cloud cuckoo land in terms of his grasp on reality at times and what happens and what people do in the real world and real jobs! Ah sod it... I'm out of this discussion for a while... The crap being talked by certain posters and their blinkered view of life and reality is winding me up too much.
  13. Well it's on now and working so I don't care :). You could argue that the original is badly designed as it blocks all the time.
  14. 16" wheels fit all Superb MK3 models, except the very powerful 2.0TSI 272HP/280HP 4x4 models...which need a minimum of 17" wheels due to their bigger brakes. The below link shows both 6.5Jx17 ET41 and 7Jx17 ET40 rims. For better comfort and better protection from kerbing damage it's best to go for the narrower 6.5J rims. My preference would be the Triton alloy rims, although the Markab alloy rims are also 6.5J. 17" Superb MK3 alloy rims (from the Skoda accessory catalogue) https://eshop.skoda-auto.cz/cs_CZ/alu-kola/c/alloyWheels?q=%3AscoreDesc%3ArimDiameter%3A17%22%3AcarType%3ASuperb%2BIII%2B%282015-2024%29&text=#
  15. The same as me, a boot full of spares and samples and test equipment and many sites were indeed miles away from any train station, no way could I do my job using any form of PT
  16. That really is taking the micky.
  17. I've had an experiment and it was me highlighting the text to quote what you had quoted. Instead of doing this: I should have done this: every day is a learning experience.
  18. Hi Pete, There's a strange anomaly with my car, the fuse box, the owners manual and the fuse box cover. It's no wonder I couldn't make sense of the fuses. The actual fuse locations are as per the diagram on the fusebox cover turned through 180degrees ,inverted. Mini fuses are actually on the right hand side, not as shown in the owners manual and on the fusebox cover. It was only by using a strong light and magnifying glass that I could read the numbers of the fuses. Fuse removed from 26, continuity checked even though it looked intact and replaced. It had a 20A fuse in that location and has been replaced with a 15A. Everything is working as it should now. Thanks Pete, it seems as though if any other owner has a similar problem, the 1st check should be this fuse. It powers the selector switches on the stalk. VCDS was a useful tool to diagnose the BCM and test the wiper motor. Wiring diagrams printed out = 5 and various scenarios to determine what does what. But something as stupid as presenting the fuse locations the wrong way round, upside down and poorly numbered is inexcusable from the manufacturer. Thanks for your help Pete.
  19. So English. Trains lines do not cover all of the UK as some might think, or motorways, or even buses. @skomaz Guff. There are reps / area managers etc with 'Samples' or a tablet and mobile in the car up and down the country all the time. M&S, Tesco, Asda, just any of the stores, retail groups. I meet Surveyors, Techs etc regularly charging at say Stirling and on the way to Inverness, Aberdeen etc. I meet ones desperate to change a car back to an ICE. @domhnall might tell you how many miles he covers for work. Going to work & back. The guys and gals on the road maintaining EV chargers are not travelling by train. Not all travel by EV either. Pod Point had drivers is a REX Van going from Central Scotland to the far north. The guys i used to meet on the job did not use a EV, as they had too many miles to cover to work and chargers were not reliable. One company they worked for had 3 techs covering all of Scotland including islands back 5 years ago.
  20. Hi, Your last post does suggest a car problem. Certainly your experiences are not normal for towing with a diesel Superb. I have towed a 1350 kg caravan many miles in the UK and France over the last 10+ years with three different Superb diesel estates - a 2010 Mk2 170 (manual), a 2016 Mk3 190 (manual), and now a 2023 Mk3 FL 200 (DSG). They have all been excellent towcars. In every case they will normally tow on level motorways in one gear below below the top gear, but there is always plenty of torque to accelerate, particularly if you drop another gear. As regards hill starts, the only issue I have really had is controlling wheel-spin, as they have all been 2 wheel drivers. However, as someone else has commented, in more extreme conditions it is easy to get a clutch smell, which does hang around for some time. Best of luck in getting it sorted. Cheers Paul R T
  21. Be that as it may, for many that is reality right there, you are lucky to work for such an understanding company, many do not have that luxury nor do a lot of companies afford to buy such cars as you describe, my company for instance couldn't when I was there it was a start up company and stood or fell by the hard work and hours that its salaried external staff put in and in return for that those early pioneers were given company shares.
  22. People are finding ways to avoid using public chargers or use them when they are much cheaper to use ie off peak. Charging at relative houses and sharing the savings, as I did with my brother a couple of times in the last fortnight. Good earner for both of us. I went for the Scenic, love the tech and the design but if I needed to be a motorway muncher I might have gone for a Polestar for example. Maybe a TESLA model 3 SR+ if I did not despise Elon Musk. These cars are efficient at motorway speeds and charge pretty quickly. If the journey takes 5 or 10 minutes longer than an ICE car, and remember are filling station are at home and we leave home with 100% battery full and no need to stop for 250, 300, 350 mile other than bladders and tummys. More house get built and they have drives, I expect my other kids, one already in a 3 bed semi with a long drive down the side of the house, cheapish house in South Wales but the others will buy modernish houses with drives. Older houses will eventually be demolished to make for new builds. Even if that is not for everyone then more public chargers at supermarkets like Sainsbury who are rolling out thousands of chargers even charging whilst parked with plugging in ie induction charging is round the corner. No length stops, even in my old school Zoe, ie 50 kWh charging, time I had been to the toilet got back to the car it was about five minutes before moving off, not much waiting there and with more 800V architecture, those that don't not run fire risk according to MacMaster, charging is even quicker and Chinese are producing cars that link to 560 KW chargers than can change in 7 minutes. Long wait charging is not really much if a thing now if one plans the journey with a bit of thought.

Just used the Ad-Blue bottle to fill up with. Easy job with the special bottle.
  24. Welcome. A sad tail. That old invoice. DID YOU ASK AT THE SERVICE THAT THEY USE 0w 30 FS III OIL? is it a 2.0 TSI 245 ps? So a vRS with a TSI engine. Replaced spark plugs. £21.65 each. Taking the p!th there. Cleaner!! i see they used 0w 30 FS III oil, VW504 00 / 507 00 The Recommended oil for a 2019 TSI is VW 508 00 / 509 00 0w 20 FS IV. ? So was oil the destroyed engine running, not the SKODA / VW Recommended oil? ASK THE DEALERSHIP IN WRITING IF IT IS THEIR STANDARD PRACTICE TO NOT USE THE RECOMMENDED OIL FOR THE ENGINE, OR IS IT THE RECOMMENDED OIL FOR YOUR ENGINE? That £1,300 is one huge bill. Overcharging would say.
  25. Once again, you are only thinking of yourself, whereas I'm coming from the angle of those that cannot charge from home and also those that can, probably have a company car eg, a sales rep or similar but can only charge so much at home within the given time slots but actually need to cover greater distances then the overnight charge session provides. Like me for example, I would leave Chelmsford early in the morning, drive all the way to Newcastle upon Tyne to visit a site, do a site inspection and then proceed to commission the installation and set up the parameters required etc and then drive back to Chelmsford, the same day, 550 miles, then the next day maybe Port Talbot and back 440 miles and I was not the only person doing those kind of miles a day. This is why EV are not suitable for everybody, the hours were long enough without having to add in lengthy charging stops onto the days as well, my diesel cars, only required a refiill every other day or so and then only 5 to 10 minutes tops and be good for hundreds of miles again. If everybody had a usage case like yours and the ability to home charge and make money from doing so but claiming back as if they had used public chargers then there would be more likely to be way EVs on the road than there is, but the reality I suggest is there far more cases like mine then there is like yours.
  26. True in my case and I would reckon many EV owners. Many hundreds of charges at home but only a handful of public charges in 3.5 years. I can do a 125 trip and back in both of my EVs without charging and have used relatives homes to charge rather than public. Give them some cash and we are both quids in. Some home owners are selling their home electricity to strangers and making a tidy profit. There is an App to facilitate this. As long as you do not do more than a grands worth then HMRC does need to be declared to I heard. With many EVs now doing 300 or 350 miles in the real world then driving much of the day and coming home does not need a public charging. It is debatable whether we will need the 300,000 public chargers if EV range keeps getting greater with new EVs.
  27. Think you are right and I don't think there is a balance or equalisation pipe between the two halfs, other than the bit of tank that goes over the top.
  28. As yours is a 4x4 remember that the fuel tank is saddle shaped, over the rear prop shaft, so readings can sometimes take a while to stabalise and equalise between the two sides of the tank.
  29. The Skoda dealer applied a TPI software update to my vehicle 3 weeks ago to rectify the PDC issue. I don't have any other info, but assume PDC unit upgraded to SW581/582, as mentioned above by andreiro221). I've not experienced any PDC errors since. I also had an OTA update a couple of weeks ago for the MIB - now on version SW1985.
  30. Go to 'vehicle' 'settings' 'units' and then you have a drop down menu. I do this often, even on the go, I like to measure in km/l, but all my friends here reason in l/100km, and of course when I have to disclose to you my exploits in fuel consumption, I switch to MPG UK ... 🤪
  31. I got a cable with a timeswitch from Toughleads. There are a range of options for timers: I got one that is WiFi controlled and links back to my home automation system so it is easy to adjust times for off peak or free electricity periods. The departure timer in the Infotainment system also works. Set it for Monday to Sunday recurring and your off peak electricity times as the preferred charging time and set the departure time for midday with no climate control. This means that the car always recharges to 80% off peak, and I can boost the charging to 100% if I know I am going to be setting off at a particular time. Even better, the Skoda integration in Home Assistant is now working well, and I can set charging, climate settings and departure times there, so if I create a calendar entry called "Warm Car", it will turn on the climate control 30 minutes before departure time so the car is nicely defrosted. I also have an automation that runs at 10pm each evening and uses Alexa to annouce a reminder to plug the car in if the charge is below 50% and it is not plugged in.
  32. Replied to your message. Appears to have immobiliser only. Less to go wrong. 🙂
  33. I'll give it a try and let you know. Thanks
  34. Does an alarm function then if you lock someone in the car and they move, or you leave a window open and lock and stick an arm in and wave it about, or rock the car back and fore?
  35. I watched some of that, gave up as I was shouting at the screen what a doylum he was being. 🙄
  36. New alternator belt fitted and tensioned properly, at first it was squeaky and somewhat embarrassing!
  37. There is no way you'd be able to do this, as the aux in is simply an analogue audio connection only. It doesn't support any kind of communication to a phone. It doesn't know what's connected to the other end of the cable.
  38. You can also use the green menu https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=a9uwYmBPc1Q
  39. 17 plate Yeti 2.0 TDI 150 4x4 as in the first post.
  40. Big ie 40% price plunge on Octopus Electroverse usage on several networks including Instavolt. Instavolt early bird discount on usage could well be a winner too i reckon.
  41. Got like 10 warning in 2 weeks. Read a lot about these issues. Car is from 2021. Bought is recently
  42. There appears to be only one metallic contact in each of those slots, implying that even if fuses were there, they would do nothing. So, either the car has no alarm, or it uses different fuse positions. If you share reg number or VIN I could look up whether it was built without an alarm.
  43. I am not keen on Chrome, and I have an SE L 🙂 I do prefer the black of the Sport line but I am not fanatical about it. I prefer the logo in the post above that is black on red. Rather than chrome on black. So thinking of going for the set from Kopacek and change the chrome letters on the back to black.
  44. Some kind of contrasting color will help with visibility.

The logo isn't the problem... the wheel is on the wrong side of the car! When the EU comes to it's senses and applies to join the British Empire, we will make you drive on the right side of the road, which is the left side. All clear? 🙂

Your wife has no taste 😜 just kidding. We love the colour. Funny thing, my wife always chooses the colour and she doesn't like red on a car 😁 I like the red, but veto from her. I also like race blue, but we already had a Skoda Octavia in that colour.

I received my new Karoq Sportline 1.5tsi dsg7 in the beautiful Phoenix Orange colour. It's my second Karoq. Love this car! 💪
  48. Now sold. Advertised here and on Facebook marketplace to the entire country, and sold to a taxi driver who lives 2 minutes around the corner from me.
  49. Do you have air flow at all? If you have air flow but only cold, most likely the problem is heater matrix, blocked by corrosion or splitted silica bag in the coolant expansion tank. Or possibly some flap in the venting system is bad and no air is directed to the heater matrix. A scan wud help. How does your coolant look in the expansion bottle. Does your coolant tank have text 'mit silikat'? If no flow, the problem is blower motor.
  50. All these years later and I still have a thing for Fantasy Green. Currently have: 1.4 8v Estate bought 10/11 years ago and already pictured on this thread. 1.9 SDI which is rough but plods along happily on 185k miles. 1.4 16v Elegance with the AWESOME Mystic Beige interior option! the Elegance is the only Fantasy Green one I’ve come across in 14 years. So what with the fancy interior I had to get it about 4 years ago. It’s been fettled over the last few years and is now in great shape!
