  1. Best I could manage of this morning's Solar Eclipse🌞🌝 I stacked a Polarising filter with an ND8 and used a shutter speed of 1\16000 (my camera only has a min aperture of f8, so not ideal). I'll need better a better ND filter next time!
  2. Well thanks everyone that offered advice in my Mk3 Vs MK4 thread So yesterday I picked up my April 24 registered 2.0 TSi L&K. Factory options. Petrol Blue, 19" Vega Aero's, massage seats and towbar that has not been used. Very pleased with it so far.
  3. OK , i m in , sprayed WD40 in and also found if the key is pressed in abit harder it allows the key to rotate 180degrees clockwise and anticlock wise . So turned it fully clockwise and then anticlock wise after pressing it in hard and after the WD40 and the door has opened .. Thanks team . Was just about to call RAC car breakdown
  4. Missed 56765 today in the midst of a busy motorway junction but a wee bit later with the aid of my passenger managed to capture 56789 in the Octy4
  5. I must confess that I am a teeny bit envious. That is one nice car. Hope you will enjoy!
  6. Thats worked .!! took it out of gear and pushed it enough to open door . Will Charge battery imediately if not too late ! Thanks again team. Hopefully the end of this saga !!

They do the full black ones, but to me looks cheap Talking of costs the kopacek not at all cheap but don’t think I’ve seen complaints here from people but plenty of complaints of eBay specials
  8. I think Bap, like MartiniB and Carlston, are specially designed bots of Skoda to keep us satisfied there is always a solution waiting .... 😁
  9. Caught the bus to Dumfries this morning. About 60 miles and almost as many stops, in a bus that was hot enough to cook cakes. Had some lunch and then walked to the garage. Rather concerned that I couldn't see a red Elroq, but later found out that their chargers had been off-line all night so our car was plugged into a 175kW rapid charger. Finished the paperwork, had a lengthy hand over and then drove home. Absolutely loved it. Lots of things it'll take me weeks to get the hang of, but loved it anyway. I question why Skoda shipped a load of Elroqs to the UK for Demo's, none of which were uk spec. The one we tried had DCC which we knew we wouldn't get. It also had the 3 spoke steering wheel with paddles to control the level of regen. I knew I wouldn't get the 3 spoke steering wheel, but you don't get the paddles either. Re an earlier post when I asked if anyone had experience of Motorway, our Volvo XC40 went on the live auction on Monday. We accepted the best offer, but haven't heard a dickie from the purchaser. Had a message from Motorway this morning to ask if the car had been collected. We said no, so they are going to chase the purchaser. We've heard nothing all day so whether the car will need to go back to a live auction, who knows. If it does, maybe I'll try Carwow next time.
  10. Bit of a better shot today. Again zoomed in and cropped.
  11. From what the OP had said this is a software update for a module in the car rather than the OTA infotainment update that you seem to be describing yourself. I can add to this topic in that mine was booked in today for its service and when I dropped it off yesterday afternoon they said that since I booked it in a couple of weeks ago they now had a software update showing for the DSG and that they would do it whilst it was in with them. I then saw this post last night and contacted them this morning to say I didn’t want the update doing in case it was this same update and when they looked the update had gone and was no longer showing against my vehicle and after discussing with them they also think that Skoda UK have pulled the update as per the OPs info from his dealer hence it no longer showing as being available or required for my car.
  12. First time starting a project thread, bear with me... Heard about this Roomster not too far from me that might be heading for a scrapyard, and decided to try to acquire it. That went well and it came to my place this last weekend. Early 2012, 1.2 TSI, 5sp manual, 158k miles on the clock. This is it, just after being washed. Paintwork is far from pristine, but that's not something I care much about. I'd looked up the spec via the reg plate before seeing pics of the car, so there were one or two nice surprises when I first saw pics, then the car in real life. Factory build sheet suggested no roof rails, nor trailer hitch. Both were in fact fitted, presumably by supplying dealer since this was bought new by the previous owner. Trailer hitch is the detachable type, with 13 pin electrics connector and adaptor for 7-pin electrics. Super handy! Had to swap out the alternator to get it charging and driveable, battery was also factory original and not well at all following loss of charging. OSF tyre had nasty inner shoulder wear, without anything similar being apparent on the other side, so that needs some investigation promptly. Partner told me the high level brakelight is inop. Nearside mirror adjustment isn't happening. May well be a split outer CV boot on OS too, but hard to be sure as the whole engine is rather oily externally, and everything needs a good clean-up to see where any fluids are escaping from. Everything else seems to work, though the handbrake only slightly! Lots more to say, but for now: New battery fitted last night after the external clean. Interior needs a lot of cleaning up; hoping a local youth may be enticed into helping with that, possibly. Engine sounds rather nice and quiet after two seconds of mild rattle from cold-start. Seems to go just fine, but economy not great on journey home. Quite excited to bring it back to full health. 😁 I shall no doubt have many questions.
  13. That reminds me got this one the other day. All the 1's next, touch wood!
  14. The high pressures are likely part of achieving the quoted fuel economy. Higher pressures help by reducing rolling resistance. Usually you can reduce tyre pressures to improve ride. Given your car doesn’t have low profile tyres and isn’t a sporty model I would have expected it to ride quite well. It wouldn’t t even cross my mind to worry about what the police would say. Most people don’t even check their tyre pressures at all so almost certainly drive them under inflated.
  15. For similar age engines I've made thermostat gaskets from breakfast cereal packets.

Thanks for all your advice, I’m going to get either khumo hs51 or hs52, I can get hs51 for 167.50 from black circles or hs52 for 175 on few sites, would I be best getting a newer tyre or is there not big enough difference to spend 7.50 more?
  17. Bonnet pull is in the driver's footwell on both pre and post FL. Caution; ensure the pull is straight back/up from the footwell as pulling to the side may leave you with a piece of plastic in your paw and no bonnet release!
  18. oh my good man, its not the end... the battery should survive after a charge, worst case scenario is a new battery. but.. your other issues remain - youre going to need to into the wires and start looking for damage
  19. After 2Q0 swap, I activated Travel Assist Now, simply enabling ACC does not activate adaptive lane keeping. Below 60 km/h, neither adaptive lane keeping. After 60 km/h, only lane departure resistance is active. Pressing the Travel Assist button activates adaptive lane keeping across the entire speed range. This logic is very useful when driving in the city with adaptive cruise control. The car won’t interfere with your steering. On the highway, with a single button press, you can relax and enable all assist systems to their full extent. For this retrofit, a steering wheel with KLR is required, which has some nuances. I also developed a LIN adapter for button configuration for new SW and KLR emulation.
  20. i will take my phone with me incase I cant get back out . Tried opening the rear passenger door to from the inside handle but it doesnt open . If there was another barrel lock available it would be easier to open the passenger side may be but I have a feeling there isnt one and releasing the plastic cap could damage the handle so I have put that on the back burner for now
  21. Glad you got it sorted. Just don't lock it again until you know what went wrong. Alasdair
  22. Can you manually push the door window down enough to slide in and release the bonnet? If so you can then start to check the battery and work out from there.
  23. It's a wonderful sight to see 👍 This flew over recently, although a little beyond the reach of my camera. Certainly more audible than visible.

Budget or cheap tyres are fine for an MOT if your selling the car on. Best option I reckon is to go by personal reccomendation and not by the labels. I find that cheap budget tyres seem to go almost hard and lose there grip after a year. Tried a good few when money was tight or needed them for an MOT. They preformed ok when new but soon lost there grip etc. Personally I would avoid Autogrip,Comforser and Tomket to name a few. I generally go for mid range as I don't drive like I used to anymore and don't have the need for anything better. Alasdair
  25. Not tried but looked at doing this on my old MK2 estate when towing a van, master cyl;inder is ok but you need a load of parts to convert ,Discs, Pads, Calipers, Carriers Mounting brackets and bolts, Hand Brake Cables and clips, New Brake Hoses New hubs and ABS sensors as they are different from the drum brake type as you cannot emit them you will get a red warning ABS failed on the dash, I ended up changing the front 256mm discs and carriers and calipers for the bigger 282mm discs calipers and carriers that improved the braking enough not to bother with the rear drums. In all unless you can get good refusbished parts it will be exensive for not much gain, if it's looks you are after try painting the drums much easier and a lot cheaper ,also the handbrake is more reliable, we have a MK3 estate now and the disc handbrake is not a patch on the drum brake handbrake and in fairness don't notice that much difference in braking between the disc and drum on the rear but the front upgrade did
  26. Hi, I went down to 1000km left on an Audi Q3 Mk1 TDI150. Never experienced any problem. Since it was a MY2015, it didn't display the AdBlue autonomy, except when only 2000 km left. I went down to 500km left on my current Superb Mk3 TDI190 (My2017), usually I top up when 1000-1500km left. Never faced a problem with it. Audi Q3 AdBlue tank is roughly 12l, whereas Superb Mk3's one is around 14l.
  27. I think you've forgotten ApertureS. The master bot! 😁
  28. No idea wats going on with ur setup.... sorry. Is ur VCDS cable genuine? Have u got the latest version of VCDS installed on ur laptop?
  29. So I've been told. It was as an explanation for why my back brake pads wore out long before the fronts, which they did, contrary to my expectations. This is on a 2018 Golf GTI, so might be different again on a 2021 Superb. Gaz
  30. Are you a chemist or fire-safety expert then, normally you compare with technical rather than safety data sheets. Following is link to the technical data sheet and pdf (2-pages), note what is on the webpage for the oil "All indicated data are approximate values and are subject to the commercial fluctuations." - https://www.ravenol.de/storage/app/media/product-pdf/Tds_1115101_en.pdf Tds_1115101_en.pdf

  32. On the other hand, judging by my partner's interest in the car, it might be her Fabia that I end up in after the dust has settled, so probably best to leave this one as-is for the time being!
  33. Plans for tomorrow mainly focus on the oil leak situation, replacing that seal between engine block and oil filter/cooler bracket; then having a good look around each corner at brakes, suspension etc. Saw another handy video just now which confirmed that the alternator can just be moved out of the way a bit, as opposed to being completely extracted out of the engine bay, so most of the oil seal job can be done from above, rather than faffing about with A/C compressor moving, complete removal of alt etc. 🙂 If I get through that I have plenty of other things to look at, but knowing me, I won't. 😁

The Khumo Estca hs51 and hs52 are very good tyres for the price. We have the HS51 on the Fabia and a relative has the later version on this Peugeot partner and we’re delighted with them. Unfortunately the 16 inch tyres are a relative rare size, hence expensive. Out of interest I priced up replacing the wheels and tyres (with steel 15”wheels and cross climates) and they worked out the same price as just replacing the 16” tyres.
  35. I'll post pictures tomorrow. Meantime, I need to go to bed to recover from the bus trip 😂
  36. Snapped this on my phone on the way back into the house after cleaning it so not great quality and also a weird composition but thought it looked quite cool when converted to black and white.
  37. Some more info on this that i've managed to glean from when i collected mine today..... I was chatting to the service guy on the desk who i usually see and have a chat with and he confirmed that their bulletin system does now say that this DSG Software update has been pulled by Skoda UK after 2 days (It was released on the 25th) due to "Technical issues with the update". He confirmed that this would have been the update mine was also due to received so it looks like i've had a lucky escape myself as if the car had been in the day before I too would have had a dead car. With regard to what the OP said regarding his dealership waiting for Skoda UK to authorise a re-install/rollback. The chap I spoke to said that they will be seeing if it can be ascertained what is causing the bug and if it is a quick rewrite and send back out or if a longer investigation is required and therefore a case of having to downgrade the DSG software back to its previous state.... In that instance it will be a case of the car being connected up to the dealerships diagnostic tools whilst the tech boffins at the factory in Czechia access it remotely and carry out the downgrade..... Hence the dealership awaiting the way forward from Skoda UK.
  38. Hi, There should be a wire issue indeed. If the locking motor has a short circuit to + in your passenger door, it can't operate as expected. This may be the cause of your problem. Then, the other code may be a result of the previous one : Regarding the Lane assist system : Check the blinker in your mirror. The lamp may need to be replaced, or there could be some rust causing this short to ground. Considering the Lane Assist deactivates each time you move the blinker stalk, this may be a reason why it doesn't work...
  39. I can't even see the video, there is the black box where it should be but nothing is working.
  40. certainly is. Doesn't leave much room for error
  41. A couple of zoomed in shots through thin cloud of a Beluga XL from just now. I really should drag myself to Hamburg for a factory tour or even down the Autobahn to their airport site.
  42. I have a Panasonic TZ70 with a 30x optical zoom, screen and viewfinder that I bought "refurbished" from eBay (I think) many moons ago. It is full of features and gives excellent results.
  43. Got out on my bike this afternoon for a nice ride. Out in the middle of Pevensey marshes, it felt like I had the place all to myself: Nothing to hear but birdsong and water running over a small lock gate 😎 Gaz
  44. A few more from today...............................
  45. you can message me again now :) fyi i have the standard fabia 8755 update file

It depends what you expect / want. Our picking of color was something like this: We did not want White/Silver/Black car... too ordinary Red - nice, but it will completely hide the nice rear lamps and rear reflex under tailgate Blue Race - very nice color, but too declassed by Škoda. Its on all cars even the low-cost Fabias etc. Phoenix - very nice in sunny weather, on cloudy a little bit less. But same as blue - Škoda put it as "catalogue color" for fabia and karoq and is also available for octavia and kamiq, so I am expecting same situation as with blue. Mamba - This color you need to see in real life. From photos we did not like it. But dealer get one for us in showroom to look on and we love it on the first sight. There was no doubt what color to order. Even people who said from photos that is ugly or too extravagant are now saying its really nice car. It is star on every parking lot You will never overlook it anywhere
