As it was sunny yesterday, I thought that a quick to North Weald might be in order and I was in luck, my friend was there and was taking his P51 Mustang out for a flight and there was also a Jet Provost doing training flights, so here are a couple of shots.
  2. Some impressive cherry blossom at RHS Wisley today Strange that a couple of these have come out upside down…
  3. 2 from the week before my procedure.. the work van just after its slightly early (19,860km) 20k inspection i got this the next day. They claim the brakes are fixed this time.. found an issue with spring position causing binding. likely to be a design issue. see how long it lasts this time. And Missus Mac's Arona - i dont know why the photos have uploaded upside down...
  4. Well thanks everyone that offered advice in my Mk3 Vs MK4 thread So yesterday I picked up my April 24 registered 2.0 TSi L&K. Factory options. Petrol Blue, 19" Vega Aero's, massage seats and towbar that has not been used. Very pleased with it so far.
  5. In connection with the new alert sound that activates when the speed limit changes, as mentioned in earlier posts, the sound can be disabled using the attached image. After restarting, the setting remains as saved. And just to be clear, this setting applies to the sound when the speed limit changes, not the sound that occurs when you exceed the legal speed limit. Hope it’s clear!
  6. That reminds me got this one the other day. All the 1's next, touch wood!
  7. This evenings sunset 😎
  8. Hi, The today to do... done list on my TDI190 4x4 at 135000km on the clock: Engine oil + oil filter changed Cabin filter changed Fuel filter changed Haldex oil changed Haldex pump strainer cleaned. The strainer was quite covered with a kind of marmelade... It's the 3rd time I clean it (previously done at 45000 and 90000km), but the 1st time I've seen this kind of film looking like a thin piece of paper. But it was indeed nothing but this kind of marmelade... Strange... Coming soon: swapping for 19" summer wheels and deep clean to sell it (if I can find one to replace it 😐)...

Ive just put Mintex 1144 on my big Vectra and they are not bedded in and they are pulling up very strongly. I had EBC yellow stuff with Zimmermann discs in the old Mokka and they worked amazingly. But saying all that, my Yeti has none descript pads and discs all round and is about 140k miles yet they are so sharp like a new car! Yet the fuluid was last done about 5 years ago so go figure. Ive never had good results with any cheap discs or pads yet the ones fitted during its services seem to work well so they would have been what the garage threw on it when it required them.
  10. 44-72035 was one of the original Red Tail (Tuskegee) aircraft. You can actually see some repairs from 1945 battle-damage behind the canopy and on the tail.

It's the 140 and 170 models with separate caliper carriers!

  13. Tyres are 17 years old, is that right ? I think they are long overdue a change. Most guidelines reckon 10 year old tyres mean it’s time they were changed, no matter mileage.
  14. Its tricky with the quadlock adapter. It took me half an hour to fit it on the left side deep behind retrofitted mid std2 pq in superb 2010.
  15. There are a couple of short circuit error codes relating to stuff in the door. I’ve known a few cars (not Skodas) with chafed or broken wires at the door hinge where they flex every time the door is opened or closed. This is where I’d start looking.
  16. Missed 56765 today in the midst of a busy motorway junction but a wee bit later with the aid of my passenger managed to capture 56789 in the Octy4
  17. The high pressures are likely part of achieving the quoted fuel economy. Higher pressures help by reducing rolling resistance. Usually you can reduce tyre pressures to improve ride. Given your car doesn’t have low profile tyres and isn’t a sporty model I would have expected it to ride quite well. It wouldn’t t even cross my mind to worry about what the police would say. Most people don’t even check their tyre pressures at all so almost certainly drive them under inflated.
  18. Best I could manage of this morning's Solar Eclipse🌞🌝 I stacked a Polarising filter with an ND8 and used a shutter speed of 1\16000 (my camera only has a min aperture of f8, so not ideal). I'll need better a better ND filter next time!

Hi fellow Skoda owners, Ive just picked up my first Skoda a Mk 3 Octavia Scout 2015 TDI which I am absolutely head over heels with. Having a quick browse round the forum this place looks like its invaluable. Only been a member a few days and Ive already got a firmware upgrade, Many thanks Pab! Look forward to interacting with you guys! cheers Alex
  20. We've not quite achieved being a one car family yet as well - it appears my rust proofing and fettling of Mrs BJ's 2006 Fiat Panda has worked too well. It's worthless to sell but it's still in pretty good condition.
  21. It’ll only work one way, and won’t damage anything connected the other way. Both left and right are the same
  22. Hi, I've changed my Haldex oil today. I tried to follow this way of priming the Haldex pump. But I didn't find any menu to test Haldex pump in the 22-AWD control unit, though I've updated my VCDS software this morning with 25.3 version. Thus I did it the simple way: run the engine, let idle for few minutes, stop and then top up. 🤷‍♂️
  23. If Dad just pops around town mainly? https://www.asdatyres.co.uk/kumho/es31/185-60-14-82-h--es31?id=8808956238285 https://www.tyrereviews.com/Tyre/Kumho/Ecowing-ES31.htm
  24. Well.. I know little about the DQ200..... Presumably that is what you've got. 7 speed, dry clutch. They have had a few problems. Yours you say is operating perfectly but has a dogs squeeky toy hidden in it... I don't enough about this transmission to say what it is. But it is constant cyclical so may be something to do with the oil pump or a regulator... If there is no driveability issue and no codes, and you really want to investigate all I could recommend is find a specialist in DQ200 transmission repairs they will probably recognise it straight away if it is a common scenario....
  25. Mine, also standard and not matrix, Octavia pre fl 2024, also does not do that check.
  26. Then change them! Tyres are the one contact point between a vehicle and the road - so, not only are they critical for handling, but they are one of the most important factors in safety. Most manufacturers recommend replacing tyres 5-6 years, with a 10 year limit being for safety. Seventeen years old is long overdue for a change. You wouldn't catch me driving on tyres that old above 40mph. What do you mean by the markers exactly? Depending on the brand, some tread wear markers are at 3mm, whilst some are right down to 1.6mm. Just because a tyre is legal does not mean it's safe. Of course, that depends on where the car is going (certainly I'd be inclined to change the tyres on a daily motorway car much sooner than a town car). 185/60R14 is quite a common size, so there's lots to choose from. Anything from Conti, Falken, Yoko, Hankook (even Toyo) is worth a look at. Judging by the sounds of it (please correct me if wrong), I would suggest getting the cheapest thing with a brand on it, and call it a day. Certainly, if your dad is getting 17 years from a tyre, I would imagine cornering grip and braking performance aren't of the biggest concern. FYI - I was always told that the only acceptable cracking (not that there really is any) is on the blocks of the tyre. Anything sidewall or carcass, replace. Certainly, cracking on anything suggests that there is likely other issues in the carcass of the tyre.
  27. Thanks for the thoughts. I just checked the fronts. Vredestein with a 2011 date code. No cracking at all, around 1mm left of tread before reaching the markers. Ok I will suggest a renewal. It's hard to know from the outside what's going on. Trouble is most affordable tyres now are often very poor imports. My mum had two Nankang NA1 fitted to her car and nearly had an accident as the car wouldn't take bends even at moderate speeds - the front just washed out. Luckily the tyres were also deemed unsafe by a third party adjudicator so she did get her money back. Like driving on a slippy jelly. Tyres are 185/60R14 so any thoughts on a decent make and model are appreciated.
  28. One of the main reasons for the smart alternator control is to allow headspace in battery capacity to allow for energy recuperation while braking or in overrun. Together with automatic Stop-Start, this allowed the vehicle to be classed as a micro-hybrid.

You won't be able to check the pads when they're in the caliper and the discs are on - beyond how much meat is on them, anyway. Fluid change would be welcome, but I doubt that will change the braking feel significantly. FYI - a lot of people trust Brembo, and choose them for pads in circumstances like this. That's fine, but make sure you get actual Brembo, rather than the ECP made-in-China-under-licence-for-a-lot-less Brembi.
  30. Yep - put the power mirrors in a box and got Powerflex mounts/bushings all round 😂 I will return to the mirrors one day. I don't care that they don't fold (I park in car parks about once every fortnight anyway), but I'd like to be able to visually see when my car is locked, like my 2016 Leon, 2011 A3, 2008 Focus - you know, every non-base model car built in the last twenty years! I loathe the mind of the original owner, that ordered the digi dash, ACC/DCC, etc, but left out folding mirrors and heated seats...
  31. Yes i do, now only 20W-50 and 0W-20 can be found here https://www.skroutz.gr/c/1228/Ladia-Autokinhtou/m/22964/Millers-Oils.html and in some other stores but for Industrial or Truck-Bus use.
  32. Yes, all his aircraft have that, he has 2 spitfires as well and he keeps them all authentic.
  33. The review is: Basically it works. On all the reviews I saw for the Karoq were that it came consistently came 2nd across all the tests, but nothing else beat it more than once. The thing is, all the others that beat it in one thing were a long way back on other things. So whilst not exciting if you want a practical SUV, it does what you want but does not lack or fail markedly on anything. .
  34. @artmes your infotainment has a versions that is too old to perform the update yourself. You are going to lose your swap code for navigation if you would do the update yourself. Ask the dealer to perform the update to at least 1896 (or 1941/1985). From 1788, you are able to update your system yourself without losing the swap code.
  35. I agree with @JimG59 but There is no definitive tyre age limit as to when you should replace your tyres but once your tyres reach 7-10 years old, you should keep a close eye on their condition and consider replacing them. It is illegal for the front (steering) axle or axles of: goods vehicles with a gross mass more than 3.5 tonnes buses coaches minibuses and also to the rear axle, or axles, unless equipped with twin wheels to use tyres aged more than 10-years.
  36. @gogiii @wim_rommens upgrading from 02xx to 03xx is possible but it requires unit to be patched first because, as Patch must be made to swdownload file, google for MIB STD2 TOOLBOX. Only after this is done you can upgrade to 0480. @prosist MIB STD2 TOOLBOX is also a solution for you to activate SmartLink. I sent you link to MST2_EU_SK_ZR_P0369T on PM. As I don't deal with aftermarket units I can't give any guidance. My personal opinion: if you can get OUE unit that matches your requirements then stick to it! @AlexScout you have download link on PM too!
  37. It was a 2.5 V6, so it was obviously those extra two pots that were the thirsty ones! I’ve always liked to regularly explore my cars potential, even now I’m also retired. Mrs Gaz suggested we come down to one car, so I bought another one instead 🤣 That’ll learn her (not!). Gaz
  38. I have a similar problem to yours, but so far I have managed with only a couple scrapes, and being very very careful when I enter an uneven patch. I am toying with a crazy idea, very back in my mind, but you could get on to it, and that would be to acquire and install the "Scout" version suspension components, which claims has a higher ground clearance compared to the "normal" models, I think only a few cm, but enough perhaps to clear some stuff.
  39. Very very nice looking color ... one of my favorites!
  40. That's almost 9 psi down at the rear and over 7 psi down at the front. Compliant it may be but you now need to monitor tyre wear on the shoulders - particularly on the inside which is harder to check.
  41. Mines been doing it for about 3 years. Sometime I get it flash up 6 times jn 10 mins, other times once every 4 months. Just never got rou d to applying the fix. But jn those 3 years it's never failed an MOT and I've even had it flash up when I parked it at the test centr. It never leaves a light on the dash as it flashed up and goes. So don't worry about it.
  42. Thanks that looks like what I need 🙂 I'd been searching for ages for that!
  43. Bit of a better shot today. Again zoomed in and cropped.
  44. You can have any tint you like on the back windows. Think of vans etc, the only rules are around the front side windows and windscreen. Another option are car shades. They clip in and offer a great alternative to applying extra tint film etc.
  45. It sounds like a loose metal cover. Can you make sure that the covers over the exhaust manifold are all tight and any covers around the turbo are also all tight.
  46. Saw one of them when they came out. I thought they looked like a cheap Chinese toy with the plastic grill, then I saw the price. Also had a very brief shot of an iX3, basically to move it out the way. Was shocked by how cheap and nasty the interior was. Really awful. I'm kindof done with cars right now. I don't find much appealing at all, it's all very monotonous dull and cheap looking for high prices.
  47. did change mine just now, looks much better IMHO.

No - it doesn't tell you when the update has completed. You just have to look up the version info in the car after say a week of driving around with the flash drive in the socket. At least you have successfully completed one update and so now know the process.
